Overall great experience. We were passing through Whangarei and decided to give this a try. Good George Beer is great. Service is good too. For signature dish place it was good too. Have we tried something similar or better? Yes. But surely worth a try. Great place and ambience. overall great experience.

Great food and great service. The atmosphere was really cool along with the music. Prices are okay for what you get. The steak served on a hot plate was really neat as you can cook it yourself just how you like it!

Yummy yummy yummy ribs and steak... Me and husband order the ribs and steak, and it was so delicious.. Good and fast service. Affordable price for a yummy dish.. Also, the atmosphere is really make you want to stay longer.. :-) Recommend for anyone who craving some good food around Whangarei.

Glad we stopped here. Everything was good. Nice spacious seating area so ideal for us as a family with younger kids. Great value we got the $50 platter and a cheesy garlic bread. The crab dip was my favourite.

What an awesome rib place! Very reasonably priced and omg tasty ribs and seafood chowder! Hubby had the Lobster steak meal which you cooked the steak on a hotstone but the hotpot with tiny overcooked lobster tail with chorizo, potatoes and corn was odd and underwhelming. But overall great service and atmosphere.

Amazing night. Great customer service (didn’t catch his name, but the older guy that served us was superb) great way to spend your birthday night or night in general. The cookie dessert was AMAZING. The food is to die for. Had a collection though out our table and we all tried abit of it all and all enjoyed. This was our first time here and Will definitely recommend and will be back for sure!

Pretty good spot for a beer and huge selection of tasty pub style food. I had one of the ribs and they were excellent. Good selection of beers and wine etc. Nice helpful staff too.

We waited a bit for a table to free up but the food made up for it, it was delicious. We had a group of 9 with kids, kids kept themselves busy with the activity sheet 👪👨‍👩‍👦‍👦👩‍👧 Staff were friendly and easy to talk to 👌👌 Would definitely recommend this place and we will be back thats for sure. 💯💯

I got soaking wet in Auckland and the only clothes I had was a pair of old shorts and tee shirt. I apologised for my appearance, but was welcomed in like a lost old friend (1st visit). Haven't tasted better ribs anywhere else in NZ and the plus is the price. The share platter for 2 is a fib, they should rather say it's for 4 people because it is bloody hugeeeeeee lol. The service and atmosphere is top class too. This is a must stop place for any serious foodie.

5 star for the service , waiter and waitresses top notch. We got premium platter. Food was ok not great. Need more flavour and seasoning on food. The platter is a lot of potatoes. If the food matched the service would definitely be back. If you proper American food or can cook this style at home you wont be blown away.

Succulent, fall-of-the-bones pork ribs with yummy sauce and generous portion. I tried the full-ribs with onion rings, and wings, and I can't finish them all. The onion rings are made from real sliced onion rings, not the reconstructed mashed/chopped onion. Staff members are friendly and accommodating. Just remember to bring your table number when you pay for your meals.

Great ribs worth the buck. So soft you dont even need teeth! Enough to take home for dinner. Great service too and the food is quick for those impatient chaps. Spoil the family and pop in you will not regret it.

I've got to say this is one of the best places ive been to in awhile, the service was exceptional, food was amazing and the prices were very reasonable. The only downfall that i could come up with is the carparks were not in the best shape or very well lit. But in all honesty that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I would just like to say that this place had the best customer service that I have experienced in a long time. I visited for dinner on 02 April. I gave 4 stars due to the fact that the food was good but not amazing. Service was friendly, extremely prompt and I was impressed at how many staff members were working. Well done!

I was expecting really good ribs in this place but... nothing especial. The service was a little bit disappointing.

Their ribs is one of the best I ever had, it is delicious and the portion size is satisfiable. But, the service is bad, I had to walk to the bar desk for them to come and make the order for me.

We hit a Tuesday night special. Ribs were great and the chocolate milkshake excellent. Coffee with personality was also good.

Food was good, filled the spot!! I had the steak, chips and creamy mushroom sauce for lunch. Waitresses were quite rude though, but the young waiter was awesome and attentive.

We recently visited Jimmy Jacks again after a really bad experience a few months ago. I placed a review based on our experience and the manager got in contact with me to apologise and to find out exactly what happened. Long story short, it seems as though it was an isolated issue with an employee who no longer works there. I was very impressed with how they dealt with it and the service we received second time round was flawless. Super happy with it! The only suggestion I would make is to please add some more customisable vegetarian options to the menu for when vegetarians and vegans come here with family and friends and don't want to miss out.

Highly recommended. We ordered Round House Chicken & Ribs, Prawn skewers and small green salad. The platter came with large portion that suited for two of us; rib was well marinated and juicy; chicken thighs were also tendered n delicious.

Ambiance excellent staff professional presentation had the wow factor I didnt get to try the meat platter I can see why people enjoy this restaurant as a group. Meeting with family was planting memory seeds for me..... Meeting my mokos and my son's Kerikeri and Dunedin family was priceless 😊🌺

It was our first time dining at Jimmy Jacks Rib Shack on Saturday evening... On arrival we were seated straight away, service was spot on, staff were efficient throughout our evening, making sure we had drinks & our table was cleared promptly after each course, there are plenty of choices on the menu (we had to ask our waitress twice to come back to take our order) the food was fresh, hot, well presented & delicious. The ribs were tender & so yummy!! The dessert menu looked good, but we were all to full to try any, so maybe next time. We had a great evening at Jimmy Jacks Rib Shack and will definitely be dining there again soon.

Absoulutely stunning food. Ordered the $100 rib platter with my family of 4 and only nearly managed the lot. Taste is out of this world and the restaurant atmosphere is very nice. I'll definately be coming back.

A very strong three stars. Food was quick, nicely flavored and presented. My chicken was a little dry however the ribs were succulent, moist and tender. I would definitely go again.

Good food ,great value for money. One suggestion though for larger groups the rules are that you can only order certain things off the menu, but yet we get given the whole menu, maybe save a bit of confusion for both the customer and waitress and maybe create a separate menu for larger groups stating specifically what you can order? Other than that everything was great.

I was up in Whangarei on holiday last week,and my best friend who is a local said to me “I’m taking you to the yummiest Restaurant in town” and boy was she right! Fab dinner as usual at Jimmy jacks with the fam! We got in early (before 5) so didn’t have to wait long. Initially we received the wrong platter but the team were more then happy to remedy this and we got our replacement quickly without a hassle. We received awesome service from Sharlene as we have in the past, she’s always on the ball and always has a smile and friendly service. Food was great, kids loved it too- couldn’t ask for more. Cheers guys

After reading reviews i was skeptical about coming here. But once there, we found everything perfect. We turned up Friday night around 6.45pm and even though they were busy, the 4 of us were given a table within 5 minutes. We were told there would be a wait of 20 minutes before we could order but that ended up being only 5 minutes. We ordered ribs, salmon, a Kiwi burger and fish & chips and everyone enjoyed their meals. Dessert was cheesecake and warm apple pie. Very yummy! The waitresses were helpful, friendly and very efficient. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning. A+.

Service was great. Food and environment were really good. Wings, sausage, wedges and crab dip were good. The bacon and cheese cob is amazing and a must order! The ribs however were disappointing. Their motto is smoked, cooked low and slow. Our ribs didn't taste like they were smoked. Just boiled and then covered in a sub standard BBQ sauce. Would still recommend going just don't order the ribs.

We had quite a long wait to get a table, but the food and service was on point. I had a large rib platter, food was ready in less than 30 min for our group of 11 people. It was delish! Waiter was funny / polite. Great experience.

Had my mums birthday dinner here, really impressed with the service, waitress was fantastic really polite an made sure we had everything we needed.. food was very delicious i shared a meat platter an had a burger mmmmm .everyone i was with enjoyed there meals.. very good value. Just been to Jimmy Jacka Whangrei with my lady friend. As usual even more so tonite the waiting staff were attracive , excellent, and faultless. Bar Staff fantastic especially the guy with the american accent. we loved the food. Perfect . Thankyou. We will be back

Ribs and garlic bread was absolutely amazing, they are one of the best I have tried I also loved the prawn cocktail. I did not enjoy the crab dip, or the chicken wings. Overall great value for money and family atmosphere

Been before and everything was fast, friendly & delicious but went again last night & was not the best. Was seated immediately which was awesome but never had a waiter tend to us, not for even drinks. Got the attention of staff twice and was ignored, ended up walking out with hungry kids screaming.

Unfortunately my meal was much to small for the price i paid. It was cooked well and anything but when it was placed in front of me waa bit of a disappointment due its size. I ended up ordering another meal to fill the void. Good beer and lovely starf. Very spacious not cramped or to noisy.

Great place. Nice place to come with a group and they have high chairs for the little one. Got a couple of rib stacks and some side. Wait time was short and staff were friendly and most of all the ribs are awesome.

Good service and food, not willing to do anything not on the menu (e.g. Macchiato), but understandable with a busy place like that. I'd have liked to have seen more than one brand of craft beer (Good George only) but the Doris plum cider is delicious so can't be completely upset. Overall a good experience, and the chicken wings were very tasty.

Never heard of so many birthdays going off in one night, must be that new years love 🤣. But seriously I had a great time, the beers weren't too expensive, the staff were very efficient and didn't mix or miss out anything with our order. Also, Sundays give you free dessert 😁. That's almost a good enough excuse to travel to Whangarei 🤣

Love coming here. Plenty of space with loads of friendly and helpful staff. Great for kids with a menu to suit. Genourous portions, offering great steaks and seafood and of course the famous ribs which are to die for. The dessert menu is also extensive and filling.

we had a good lunch here today. would have offered a 5 star until i was charged 1$ for a cardboard take away container. cost them more in a lost tip.

Very generous portion sizes. The ribs felt more sticky sweet than smokey goodness but were tasty and tender. They handled our group of 10+ effortlessly. Overall a positive and plesant experience.

Great place for a meal at reasonable prices. Normally the steak is good but had a steak meal at the weekend and was pretty disappointing. My brother and sister in law had the steak burgers and had to leave the steak as they couldn't chew it. Not sure what's going on but hope they pick up their game in future.

It looks exactly like every American chain family restaurant ever, and has a menu to match that. The ribs are great. 4 stars because I'm not a fan of Good George beer. But if you are a Good George fan, this is gonna be 5 stars for you.

Great Ambience, service, Yummy with Gaming Area

Delicious food! between us we had the pasta, ribs and wings with the honey pot sauce. The pasta was Devine, it was creamy and indulgent, chicken ontop was perfectly cooked. Ribs were good the sauce was delish but not completely falling off the bone. THE WINGS. I couldn’t believe how much flavour the sauce had. No heat at all though in terms of spice but still really tasty. Good portion sizes, worth the price. Would recommend. Also service was good and fairly quick!

Premium platter is worth it. Nice restaurant, tasty food, great service. The place was very busy Easter Sunday. We had a party of 5 but only had to wait about 15 minutes.

The mediocre ribs, had a side of mediocre chicken wings, match that with their mediocre selection of craft beer (the guest ale was Monteith's, the rest of the selection was good george, wouldn't say that's a craft beer bar as much as a sham), made for a very mediocre and somewhat disappointing birthday meal. If you're really badly craving ribs, I'd say maybe go, if you're wanting to try something new, try something else.

I always like the food there but last time we got there a few people in our table their food was cold. They heated up for us but you can't eat ribs room temperature and then heated in the microwave. ... anyway the service was good though and we had a fun night nevertheless

We have be there a lot for dinner. But this time the music was to loud went up and ask could it be turn down the guy behind the bar said it was all right. But turn it down but after awhile it went up again. When you go out for dinner you like to abled to hear what the person next to you is saying but it was hard with the music. If we wanted music that loud you go to the RSA or other places so you could dance. But we were out to dinner with my stepdaughter and kids at Jimmy jack we all Love our food But the Music was to Loud.

We often visit and order a slab of their pork ribs which tends to be inconsistent. Somedays ribs are better cooked than the other (perfectly cooked or overcooked and jerky) . Have just got home from lunch at Jimmy Jacks. The lunch was lovely. We were a fairly large group and the service was very good. Definitely going back.

Mean spot to go for a beer n ribs, also been for the steak, pasta while in whangarei for work..

Booking is essential if you don't like waiting. Prices are between $19 and $99. Very measly serving of chips with the meals, not even half a 'punnet'. Burger was average and the price of a beer was outrageous, even for a reasturaunt.

The wait is a little long and have been told the wait could be up to 45 mins at some times. The food and atmosphere was overall good though, this is a loud place and wouldn't recommend it for anything romantic. Almost everything comes with a side of chips.

Food was great good sized portions at a reasonable price serving staff were prompt and efficient, however can't give 5 stars because the old guy behind the bar was grumpy and Un welcoming.

Easy parking for elderly folk. Able to share meals as usual servings too big. Staff very helpful.

JJ accommodated a large group easily, served us quickly, with tender & juicy ribs with delicious sides. Beers were great, too!

The love of Ribs...You can't go wrong, best by far. Nice friendly staff, bar drinks pretty good and pokies if you like...win to be on the board, 2 slabs of ribs, chips and a beer in 30mins. A must if you love ribs.

I'm not normally one to frequent these types of establishment, but I have been into Jimmy Jacks on multiple occasions now, and always found it to be great value for money, good tucker, a convivial atmosphere and best of all cheerful and friendly staff. Keep it up! Great work!

Had the Wednesday $20 Special... RIBS, WINGS & WEDGES...good portion and delicious. Was in early so quiet but people rolling in and atmosphere building. Great people getting together place

Took on the Big Rib Challenge... What a delicious feed! Meat fell away and was done to perfection. Thanks to all the staff for making it a fun visit, hopefully can come back one day soon.

A great selection of food reasonably priced great for social events always end up with left overs so great portions. Staff attitudes moderate but it is a very fast paced environment.

Waiters took a very long time to bring water to out table, asked us to order drinks before we had water on the table, I think I found a piece of hair or fluff in my salad otherwise good place.

The spare ribs were absolutely fantastic!! Will be back again for them!! Forgot to take a photo but well worth it 😊☺

Amazing ribs! The 'texas sausage' reminds me of a US midwestern kielbasa and it is epic. Really good beer selection too.

Enjoyable meal, meal portions a little over the top. sorry guys not the place to go if you want to enjoy a night out in peace, very noisy. Other than that a great place. Service on the other hand was impeccable, keep it up.

The ribs are excellent and the apple pie is delicious. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Seating is a bit uncomfortable as the chairs need re padding.

They were in a rush this time burning a burger forgetting an order on sides and desert forgetting icecream order all was resolved with a new burger Patty and Xtra ice cream on other orders as well as bringing out the other two scoops missed in a bowl

1st time there, great set up, we chose one of the dearest meals and were very happy with it.

A good rib bar/resturant. Its a bit Americanised like a chain. Not sure about that but there is one in Paihia I have been to that was very busy over winter. Beer selection was not great and just served in glasses.

I come here whenever I'm in Whangarei. the place is fantastic, the staff remember you, look after you like your family and make you feel welcome. and the food is awesome.
