I am only visiting Whangarei, but I have had dinner at the loan star for 4 nights in a row. Staff make this place, and of course the great food. I had the same meal every night, and every meal was the lip smacking same as the night before. Note my photos.

Love the starter.. we had tequila with lime scallops (check out the photo). I was not impressed with the main. Had the BB King ribs. Meat was dry and I only ate the salad, takeaway the rest and make a mean sauce to eat the ribs with. Was not worth paying all that. Only after the meal then I noticed their bar food menu, which look more appealing than the main. Will I visit again? Maybe... try their bar menu 🤔.

Excellent food and poor service. I must say the ribs here are the best of any Lone Star I've tried so far. The reason I give 4 stars is the service. We waited for a long time and no one came to help us order. I had to find the waitress myself. I asked the waitress for a glass of water during the meal. Then that waitress walked past me 3 times without giving me water. I really don't understand why it's so hard to get a simple glass of water. Anyway, the food quality is perfect, and good food always makes me happy.

Ordered takeout via menulog.co.nz The meal arrived promptly, was presented really nicely in a Lone Star box, and tasted delicious. We had the Lone Star Rib Box which fed four hungry adults and one child with some left over. Can I just say again how delicious it was.. restaurant quality in the comfort of your home.

Have to tip our hats to the staff first, they were friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome from the start. Next the food. So impressed! I was always taught to finish the food on my plate, there was no way I could this time but I sure tried!! Absolutely delicious, honestly, so good!!! And finally the atmosphere. When you combine the staff with the food, the atmosphere is bound to to speak for itself, which it did. Thanks guys, great birthday dinner for hubby 😊

Food is delicious and food came out quickly but this is the second time I have been to this restaurant and each time I politely asked for a glass of water and it never came. I wonder they dont like customers asking for water. Maybe because its for free?

I like the place. Service was good. Food tasted & looked great. Only downer was the music was way too loud. We found it really hard to talk to each other which is what we were there for. Asked to have it turned down, staff said yes, nothing happened & so asked another staff member & was told they weren't allowed to. I think management needs to reassess the volume instructions. It's a restaurant not a pub or nightclub. People what to eat & talk.

Valentines Dinner was all that one could hope for, Cooked to perfection and large portions in a great atmosphere, pity there wasn't a dance floor to shake the food down a little then i may have fitted in desert.

Took family for a birthday dinner. Food was amazing, staff were really awesome! Huge servings, worth the $$$ we spent. Be prepared to pay a larger amount then Whangarei is used to, but in my opinion it's worth it ! Only feedback for team: Music a little loud, encouraging customers to speak louder to be heard by the other side of table. This in turn causes a louder environment and could be off putting to many hard of hearing customer's.

Just had lunch here today and was impressed by the customer service!! The lady was very friendly and always checked on us to see if we needed anything else. The food was the best! And we were quickly served. I highly recommend dining here! Very happy 🙂

The ribs I had were tough and dry. Not only that the waitress drop a rib on me before she served my plate in front of me. The service and the atmosphere was great it was only those 2 miner detail that failed. There was no offer of a free drink or $5. Off my meal for the waitress dropping food on me either. That was my first visit as well. I am undecided if I want to go back.

Awesome restaurant for large groups, plenty of eating options for all dietary requirements. Seafood plater was very very yummy, I recommend you book ahead as this venue can be all booked out at times. They have baby seats for children to sit in if need be, these are definately handy when your toddlers want to run around all the time 😆🤣😅😂 Thank you for the nice meal and the service by your staff, cheers.

The best customer service I've ever received. The food was awesome, the servings are huge and it's worth the money you paid for, the ambience is great. The toilet is fancy, lots of parking space, and the jelly bean is the best part at the end of your meal with hand written thank you note.

First night out with 4 other friends post level 3 and 4 lockdown. This was our second time dining here since its opening and highly recommended it. The service was super friendly and very attentive. The food came out in a very timely manner and was both well presented and delicious.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Having never been to Lone Star I wasn't to sure what to expect price wise or what the meals were like in size. I was amazed by the prompt but friendly service. Our waitress for the evening was Arliya and she was so lovely! The meals were a great size and value. The children's meal came with the first drink free and free pudding 😋 It was super lovely that once we had our pudding our table summary came on a little plate with some jelly beans, this was the icing on the cake for my boys, so unexpected and a real bonus. We will definitely be back! 😁

We dined there Monday last week. We had to wait for nearly an hour for our food. It was good BUT first when we were to order we were told that the lamb shoulder wasn't available and we had to choose something else. I had the salmon and found 3 (three) bones in it. The waiter gave us an apology from the chef who blamed the supplier of the salmon - not good enough for an upmarket restaurant

Good service, really enjoyed our meals, with the exception of the wife, who was not impressed with her burrito. Not hot and the filling unevenly seasoned. Not cheap, but you do get a very large meal for your money. The ribs were outstanding. The drinks menu had no prices listed for the beers, which I found annoying and, in my opinion, when a place won't publicly display prices, they are hiding overcharging.

Absolutely 💯 service and our meals were exactly up to Lone Star quality. We had a relaxing wine while waiting 10 minutes for a table as we didn't have a booking but the lovely front of house staff found us a table for two by the window which was great. My choice of spare ribs was huge, I definitely over ordered thinking they were short ribs, I took half home in a take a way container and had it the next day. The portions are generous. Parking can be premium so go early to find one within walking distance.

Wow. My husband and I dined here last night and we cannot fault a thing, As soon as we walked in we felt nothing but a welcoming atmosphere. All the staff seemed lovely but our server Carla was overly amazing, We really appreciated her checking in on us every so often and making sure everything was going well. First time trying the new Whangarei lone star & it was packed out on Friday night but the Food was really yum and good value for money. Couldn’t even eat it all had to get take away. I went and tried Lone Star from reviews uploaded... I loved the food and the place in general but... My food took almost an hour to be brought out and my drinks got brought to me 10 minutes before my order actually came to my table. The 2 ladies that took my order, gave It through to the kitchen and started playing with each others hair right next to tables (2 tables in front of me). Great food, lovely choice of food on the menu. Slow service, very loud music especially for elderly who may come and go or anyone in general who just wants to sit and eat in a relaxing way and slack workers.

We went for dinner here last night. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and was seated within 1min of us arriving. The atmosphere was lovely. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Our food was AMAZING and would 100% reccomend to our friends and family to come in and check it out. The price was perfect and the portions were huge. We left feeling so full and satisfied. Very busy on the night we visited, took exactly an hour after ordering for food to arrive. Food was really good once it arrived. Portions extremely generous. However not a place that was easy to relax and enjoy as the busyness and layout meant it was very loud and not possible to hear your partner talk without shouting. Maybe more enjoyable on a quieter day/time.

We just spent over $500 on dinner for 8 people - meals good but had our plates and cocktails taken out of our hands before we finished them. The owner came up to chat so we thought, as asking how our meals were and then he stated "it's been 2hours and 15 minutes so you are going to have to go now" and "you have 10mins left now". We had just got our desserts and coffee. We were out celebrating and so felt rushed and disappointed. He said its stated on the website this, when booking to which I said I rang to book and no one told me there was a 2 hour limit. It was our first and last time we will give our hard earned money to this owners business that's for sure, he was rude and condisending, took our money like he didn't care a hoot. The waitresses were lovely so it is a shame they have to act like vultures around a table and usher plates off people while others are still eating etc, just to get people moved off the tables as quick as they can. This is not AK, people here like to relax and eat with their Whanau properly. And I see others have imagined about the acoustics too, which I agree. There's atmosphere and then there's bad acoustics whereby you can't hear everyone at your table at all, which was the case here. So disappointed with the attitude.

I’ve dined at quite a few Lone Stars around New Zealand, Whangarei was pumping. Food was good, service was good until the end of service when things started to slip. Whangarei lacks the ambience of other Lone Stars - no solid furniture nice atmosphere or open fire. The lighting was so dark I couldn’t even read the menu. It was really really loud - music wise and we felt rushed, get in and out no mucking about. Liked the food but I’m sorry doesn’t feel like the other Lone Stars feels like another dine and dash joint. Firstly, I just want to say THANK YOU for the stunning service and the great night the other night, You should all be very proud of the restaurant atmosphere you are creating and the owners should be proud of the stars they have working for them. The whanau and I dined for dinner here on Friday night. What an amazing place to go! The atmosphere was great, We were celebrating my girls 5th birthday and our waitress Carla was hands down fabulous, She made it EXTRA special for her and it was the highlight of her day. Also one of my boys are celiac and dairy intolerant which she took that into consideration and did not make it seem like a problem at all, He usually struggles to find something to order when we eat out but she made that super easy for him. The cocktails were to die for! You could actually taste the alcohol in them and it wasn’t just some mocktail tasting drink like you’ll receive else where. I have to give my big ups to the owner himself, the chefs, the bartenders and all the other waitresses at Lone star and I can’t say enough how amazing our very own waitress was! Everyone seemed like they were having a great time. The vibe was great, the food was super. We definitely will be back very soon and I am really hoping our experience is as just as great as this time. We strongly recommend this restaurant to everyone to dine out and try, we believe you will not be disappointed. See you all again soon 👍🏻

We had to give the new Whangarei restaurant a try but were not well impressed. Food was tasty and well presented and portion sizes were good. But $39 for steak salad and chips is getting up there. I had a tap beer which was $11.80 a glass! They must not be very proud of that because the beer prices are not given on the drinks menu. The acoustics are terrible. So much noise bouncing around that you had to talk really loudly just to talk to the person in front of you.

Well HOWDY Partners! 🤠 I am delighted to report that tonight's first dining experience at a Lone Star happened to be in my hometown and proved the negative whispers wrong! Walking through beautiful big red barn doors we were warmly greeted by Troy, who I had already had the pleasure of communicating with earlier by phone confirming my online booking which also, was so simple and no trouble at all. We were seated at one of the bar tables until our table was ready which took no more than 15 mins and in that time checked on by the manager I think it was who made sure we were being looked after. I tried the mocktail called Roxanne, an iced berry combo that took me the whole course of the night to finish! If you've lived here long enough it is only natural to gaze around and try and rack your brain as to what parts of Woolworths where exactly where! From there our bubbly, lovely waitress Lateisha took care of us and gave us time to look up and down the wow of a menu to make our decisions. A place still humming after a few months of opening, we understood why we had waited 15-30 mins for our mains, but certainly when they did arrive there were absolutely no grudges here! Super delicious generous sized portions for what you are paying for! I chose the dixie chicken with coleslaw and buffalo fries. Wow. As my Dad put it, there are some pretty good chefs out there! We could hardly order dessert and think that's best on a seperate occasion on it's own. An epic playlist filtered through not too loud at all and made me giggle with it's switching from country music to modern and repeat. There were also many birthdays this night and I commend the amazing team on their pitch perfect happy birthday singalongs every time. An overall pleasant experience and in the words of Arnie with a country twang, We'll be back! Thanks y'all!

I dined here with friends last week, it was very busy, even though it was a Tuesday night, its the new place in town. The food was very good, excellent potions. Downsides; it was very very noisy, there was no pay wave, and a surcharge for credits cards. C'mon Lonestar, you are a nationwide chain of restaurants, I feel a surcharge for using my credit card is uncalled for, especially as Lonestar is not paying for a pay wave service.

First time ever LoneStar diners! Given a wonderful warm welcome by Concierge. Bar staff were awesome, loved the cocktail! My partner and i ordered 3 starters to share together, a couple drinks and a dessert, and they were all cooked to perfection! San Quentin squid, prawn cutlets and chicken nibbles and the Chocolate pudding with JD’s were all freakin delish!!! 👌 Our waitress Leticia encouraged us to download the LoneStar app, which earns us diner points which accumulate and give some really cool rewards each time we return and dine! 👍 We loved the whole environment, set with a Outback rustic country feel and the music to match it! Loved the music! 🎶 The owner even came over to meet us and make sure we were happy and taken off, so cool! 🙂 I personally also love that they have Whangārei spelt correctly with the macron throughout the restaurant and bar, Tino rawe! We highly recommend to anyone who loves a cool country vibe or loves to be entertained while dining! Fantastic family dining! Even played a game with the More FM road crew as we exited the restaurant, and won a prize from LoneStar! 😃🥳 We will definitely be returning! Whangārei definitely needed this establishment and it delivers on all levels!

Finally a Lone Star in Whangarei! What a fantastic night it was tonight. A few minor hiccups which you can’t fault due to the second night. Service amazing, food mouthwatering. I am a fan of Lone Star from way back and the Whangarei restaurant is really great! Friendly , helpful staff and the food is awesome. Servings are huge!!! Love the surroundings too.
