There were a few people waiting for their order when we went so we were expecting to have a bit of a wait however they were very efficient food was delicious and hot! I highly recommend the home made prawn dumplings that are made fresh every day!!! The staff are also very friendly and very helpful. Definitely coming back! ☺️

Incredibly tasty hoki, kept going back just for this. Salt and pepper squid also really good. Prices are unmatched. 4/5 only because the chips were pretty average.

Everything you'd hope for in an excellent fish n chip shop. Super friendly staff, delicious fish n chips - and even epic scoop ice creams for a hot day. I realised too late in the trip that they do amazing cheese and mayo chips, and that their burgers are amazing too. Hard to go wrong here!

Stopped in for a Fush n Chup dinner with Coleslaw & it was fantastic!! Fresh fish that was lightly breaded & the actual fush was thick & tender...not some skinny breaded jandal. The Chups were perfect not over cooked or heavily salted. Thick cuts & a proper portion. Coleslaw was light & with a great dressing. Restaurant was clean n tidy & the staff was friendly & welcoming. Can’t wait to go back.

Super delicious Snapper Burger and Chips for $10 - this burger completely beat our expectations - we were a bit sceptical and ordered it out of curiosity - we were super pleased with our choice.....it was beautifully cooked and super fresh. The store is incredibly clean and the staff are very friendly. Don't waste your time and money going anywhere else in Whitianga for fresh tasty fish and chips. Lovely place. Kids deals are more than reasonable amount of food. Very busy and full of pre-teen boys taking up half the place but even so, it was still really nice. You couldn't get that in Auckland. Thanks for having us!

Had the steak and eggs yesterday and it was so good! The steak was cooked perfectly, it came with two eggs, onions and chips. Everything was amazing. Service is always excellent, that’s why we return every trip 👍🏽

We had Fish (snapper) and chips for lunch. This a very busy fish and chip shop. The fish we had was outstanding. Tasted very fresh and freshly cooked rather than precooked and reheated. I can't recall eating better fish and chips. The service was also excellent. It was a pretty simple place to sit and eat our lunch. Very clean and comfortable. Other meals being delivered like burgers also looked really good. Highly recommended.

The place has been serving food on site since the 1940's, an absolute institution that serves a massive number of people during the peak holiday season. A visit to Whiti means a meal at Snapper Jacks, its a requirement. Last visit they cooked up some fresh kingfish my nephew had caught the day before, did a fantastic job, it was super delicious, perfectly cooked. Also, fun fact, this is one of the first places in the world to ever serve a Chicken Satay burger, they also do one awesome vege burger!

Fresh fish every weekday - so good! Excellent service, always. Adaptable - they've acquiesced my request for grilled fish in their busiest times and gun-free burgers long before it became fashionable. Best ice cream in town at the best price, too. Good meal options. Centrally located on the main street with some interesting stores around to browse in while you wait. With the new main street upgrade, there is ample standing room for social interaction/ catch-up outside. Gotta go to Snapper Jack's for fresh snapper, right. Can also buy fresh fish for home here - so much better that other places in town.

From the outside it looked quite modern but once inside it was like stepping back a few decades. The staff greeted you but not willingly and left me feeling a bit out of place to be honest, it was like none of them actually wanted to be doing the work. Anyway I ordered plain old fish and chips and had a 10min wait before they arrived which isn't too bad at all. The food was average, fish was a little overcooked and the batter wasn't that great but the chips were tasty none the less.

Crumbed fish is really good here, the battered ones were rather oily. Chips are good, probably one of the best in town for that. Waiting times are crazy long in the holiday period for dinner, so do try order early or phone in to avoid sitting around for 40 minutes They did stuff our order up, missed some fish and way too little chips for what we asked. Still would go again though.

Chips and burgers were great. It is quite pricey but that’s probably normal for its location. It also took quite a while and the oysters didn’t taste that great. We would go here again but not get the oysters and make sure we had plenty of time.

Classic fish and chips. Burgers are a bit of a step-up from standard chip shop fare, coming in a sourdough-type bun, and the chicken burger I had was well cooked and moist. The chips were a bit oily and soggy unfortunately, and come in fairly small quantities compared to some other similar shops. Busy times could result in quite a wait (I waited for almost 45 minutes for a relatively small order). I'd recommend ringing ahead, but there are no current menus available online as far as I can tell.

Such great fish and wow - cheap. The batter on the fish is crisp and light. You dont need fancy gurnard or snapper (although they had those and they were great) the Hoki was beautiful. Good chips and a kapiti ice cream to finish off the experience. We went twice once we found the best fish and chip shop in town!

Quality feed for our family. We were over at Cooks Beach and when I called to make our order I cheekily asked if Snapper Jacks could deliver our order to the Whitianga Ferry - they did this happily.
