Very well laid out Retirement Home set in park like surroundings with many options of accommodation available. Not ready for here yet but visiting elderly friends who have just moved in. Very tidy and clean resident areas and there appears to be lots to do ... Recommend a visit for those looking for this type of system that has a tiered type of residential care depending on one's health and abilities.

Absolutely amazing staff and well presented retirement home with many housing options from independent living through to medical assisted living with all sorts of events and little day trips on a bus and all sorts of different general knowledge quiz days, ect. Fully recommend as they take well care of all the residents.

Visited a friend I was impressed by the measures taken on terms of COVID masking and visitors protocols

Our Grandad lives in a townhouse at Charles Upham and loves it. Such a beautiful Village, love visiting and knowing he is close to people even though he is on his own.

This place is so big with so many elderly. Really sets the standard. Still, expect to see Winston Peter's when he makes his 3rd comeback. Here, he has an audience of 800. Gardens are laid out better than most and is a credit as are the friendly staff.

It's a great place to live

This is a lovely facility with very responsive and friendly staff who take good care of the residents. I would recommend it to anyone. There is only one BUT to this review and that is the signin process. I am a regular visitor. It assumes every visitor is a competent typist and often there is a queue of people waiting for people to sign in with not quite so nimble fingers. Just a thought. How about issuing a card to run through a card reader with your personal details and the names of the person or people you are visiting. Any variations such as COVID contact or other concerns could be processed by reception (sorry reception) but for the rest of us it would allow us to get through quickly. After running your card through a visitors sticker could be printed. I would be willing to pay a small amount for a card.

It's a lovely complex with lovely gardens etc. I visited an old friend who moved into a beautiful townhouse a few years ago. She is so comfortable there.

One of the nicest retirement villages I have visited, well laid out and very attractive. My friend is very happy there, enjoys meeting other people, plus the freedom to come and go, being able to drive off into town or to Christchurch.

A top quality retirement village with all the activities and amenities you could wish for. All needs are catered for from Independent Accommodation, Serviced Apartments to full time hospital level care. My parents love it there and we know they're in good hands!

Beautifully maintained gardens, very pleasant environment, great little cafe, lovely care staff. My wife and I are both hoping we'll be in a position to purchase a town house in the village when it comes time for us to retire and downsize.

I cant stress how nice this place is. My father in law has early onset dementia and has been in a home for years now this has been the nicest one he has ever been to. It's amazing the staff is so friendly the food is great everyone is so accommodating.

Beautifully presented as a retirement village. The gardens are beautiful. I have spoken to many residents and they all say they enjoy the community feel and the friendly atmosphere. There is a cafe on site that gets very busy, the staff at the cafe are extremely friendly, first name basis with clients. They always have some activity going on, from swimming to exercise to concerts, bowls outings and shopping, even the picture theatre to playing pool.

What a fabulous place to live, it is like a first class cruise without getting seasick. Every day is fun, the gardens are beautiful, the townhouse are so warm and well laid out and the staff are caring and helpful. How lucky are we to be here.

I really enjoy going for a drive thru the village most weeks I have had my name down for a couple of years as this is where I want to retire to am still waiting to hear if my forever home will come up

Have a friend living here and visit her in their cafe which is small and intimate.

Stayed with my relations. I also live in a Retirement village in England. Charles Upham is really lovely. Fantastic grounds and furnishings. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting my relations.

Large complex of retirement villas and apartments and resthome with hospital. Car parking for public poor with not near enough parks. Visitors have to park outside gates and walk some distance.
