Unitec is a great university, I was student there for 3 years. The campus is really nice, but walking uphill in the winter can be somewhat tricky and dangerous. The distance between buildings makes getting to class on time a real challenge.
The historical buildings are very nice from the outside, but could use some serious renovations on the inside. The campus has been transformed into a big construction site in the last two years, making tuition there less enjoyable. The librairies get very crowded and hot during exam season and renders study rooms unavailable.
The quality of education is excellent and increases as the classes shrink in size because the learning experience is enhanced. Many classes are recorded which makes attendance completely optional for those who can't make it to class. Alumni benefit from many things upon graduation, such as the Unitec reputation and a wide network of former students to connect with.

Great institution great location. Decided to do a course after many years out of workforce and study. I have a disability and the Institute accommodates me. Have found course materials very engaging.
The only negative feedback I would offer is that some of the students have an attitude of discrimination towards older students. The institution is for everyone including mature students.
Seems empty without many international students however this is to be expected with the pandemic.
Overall I don't regret coming at all

Doug Futter is the best tutor I have ever met, he is so passionate , helpful and care about every student. he is not only teaching you the real estate knowledge, but also showing you how to be a genuine and nice person. Real treasure of Unitec, highly recommend the real estate salesperson course .

Lovely place to learn and be but the parking for students needs to be a priority as having to choose a ticket or being towed,
over missing class is becoming too much of an every day option.
I parked near the construction and mechanics section and ended up with a puncture in my tyre when I got back.
AND WHEN I FOUND A GOOD SPOT TO PARK THE SCHOOL BLOCKED IT OFF. THERE IS MORE RESERVED PARKING THEN AVAILABLE PARKING FOR STUDENTS. (Typing this after 30mins driving around looking for a parking)

Awesome location being the old Oakley Mental Institute now called Carrington, still has the Mason Clinic reserved for the violent criminally insane.
The Unitec itself offers many wonderful courses and qualifications housed in classic buildings with amazing architecture.
Well worth a visit - this location is also listed as one of Auckland's most haunted locations. You have been warned! 😜

Education means considerably more than just teaching a student to read, write, and manipulate numbers. Computers, the Internet, and advanced electronic devices are becoming essential in everyday life and have changed the way information is gathered. How this new technology is utilized in the curriculum and managed by teachers will have an important role to play in widening the resource and knowledge base for all students. Technology affects the way teachers teach and students learn. To make the best use of information technology (IT), schools need a workable plan to fully integrate it into all aspects of the curriculum so students are taught how, why, and when to use technology to further enhance their learning.
If a school does not have a clear plan of how and why it wishes to implement IT, then it runs the risk of wasting money. In schools today, nearly all classrooms have access to a computer. However, many schools mistake this as incorporating information technology into the curriculum. School staff need to research what IT is available and what would best serve the school's purpose, not simply purchase the latest equipment. There should be a policy stating how IT is going to assist pupils' development and what teachers want pupils to achieve (Reksten, 2000). Staff members need to be clear about what they want IT to do for them before they can start incorporating it into their lessons.
The only way information technology is going to be useful to schools is if all staff members are well-informed and fully supported. It is the principal's responsibility, and should be part of the school's plan, to ensure that all staff are consulted about the changes, and that the change is carefully organised. Some teachers may be resistant, especially if they have not had much experience with computers, so training teachers is essential in implementing IT into the school curriculum. Staff members must feel involved in the process of acquiring technology, and in learning how to operate it, in order for them to increase their confidence in using IT as a curriculum tool. Teachers are only going to be able to incorporate IT into their lessons if they are competent users themselves (Reksten, 2000).

As BCs student (international) at Unitec, I can say that it's not perfect, but it is a great tertiary school. There is a recently refurbished campus which is constantly evolving, with mostly up-to-date classes and some helpful teachers.
Especially, it's great that they give students access to tools such as free Office 365 ProPlus and access to Microsoft Imagine, which are very helpful for all kinds of students to learn essential skills in a modern way. All students also get their own Outlook and Skype Unitec accounts which can be used to easily connect with anyone, be it students, lecturers or other staff.
Reasons why I didn't give it 5 stars are that the campus is too remote from the CBD for my taste, and there are few food options at the campus. Also, the international team are not very helpful, so don't expect to rely on them if you are international, you'll need to sort your situation out yourself, and getting an apartment that isn't a 20+ minute bus ride away is hard unless you look to share an actual house with someone.
