Reviews of Westlake Boys High School
To be fair a good school however the uniforms are way to expensive, also the toilets definitely need working on. And please fix the schools internet, like it triggers not only the students but many teachers complain as well. And depending on, what teachers u get u might get lucky due to the responsibility of the teachers at the school. But overall I guess u can say the school is strict which is good
I rate 5 stars because the toilets are always clean. I also enjoy tching the little year 9s
Very expensive uniform! but love their blazers for the y9s 10s, good teachers and very high standards for academics and sports. However their education fees are more expensive than a normal public school's.
It's a good school but if Mr smale leaves then there is no reason to come here.
Plenty of boys to pick from.
Westlake is an alright school, but since it is a public school there are a few drop kicks for students. Although westlake is public they think they are private, with the advances with the Blazers and ties for the year 9's and 10's. But should be good for ye kid. Btw its better than Rosmini and Glenfeild, so yeah.
One of the best schools if not the best school in New Zealand. The uniform is a bit pricey but The education is top quality unless you're in C stream
I can play video games in class, it so cool to be able to outsmart someone double my age. Mr Gordon made me gag when he spoke.

11/10
For me Westlake has taught me discipline and principles and how to be a good little boy.
Best school in New Zealand by far, but their academic ranking system isn't always accurate, but that's fixed in your next set of exams.
The best school in the entire country, and one of the best in the world. Not only academically, sporting and culturally, but values, principals and core key elements that make every student that attends, a world-class citizen and outstanding gentleman.
I will rate 5 stars cuz Im a nice person
This school can boast a myriad of achievements ranging from all the fields of education (very high pass rate) to an assortment of varying sports and musical awards. Westlake truly nurtures talent and caters to a wide range of activities a teenage boy could possibly engage in.
........
From a current (6th form/Year 12 as of 2012) student's perspective, there is hardly any violent or aggressive displays one would expect from a testosterone laden school of 2000+ boys... in fact, this school may be more tranquil than its sister school "Westlake Girls" down the road. (oh makes me wonder, does Westlake Girls view Westlake Boys as its sister or brother school? hmm..)
........
The bane I have with this school however is the compulsory annual "Athletic Sports Day" where all students are expected to attend an out of compass outing event and actively engage in or spectate an assortment of sport activities. I attended one of the events, but found the occasion remarkably underwhelming in the blazing outdoor heat... needless to say I wagged all subsequent events (which got me a draconian punishment of 3, 50 minute long litter picking "after-schools" each time... yippee for clean-green New Zealand!) - Making this event optional will make this school A++...
........
The facilities are superb.. and there are current developments underway to improve them even more (such as remodeling a building block devoted for science... named "The Science Block")... The computers available in notable areas like the ICT block or the Library are modern and sleek along with swiveling-wheely chairs! Making for an enjoyable user experience. ("Athletics Day" should be replaced by "Computer Day").
........
For any prospective male student, this is THE school to go to... lack of girls means less distractions (unless you prefer the ..uh.. well... y'know); though it doesn't mean the school is absent of any females/ladies... so there'll be a fair share of gOOGLE-ing opportunities. ;)

Good high school with a focus on sports.
I still don't find any advantages over a gender mixed school
