Completed PG1 and PG2 with Grey in a group of 4 friends. Grey was an excellent instructor, always calm and extremely professional. Grey clearly has a true passion for paragliding and teaching. Instructors Ryan and Brian were also excellent, knowledge extremely friendly and safety conscious. Watching other operators also teaching the same course it was chalk and cheese, we were so pleased to be with Grey

Recently had the pleasure of completing pg1 & 2 with Grey, Ryan and Brian. All three are excellent at what they do! Grey and Ryan’s knowledge and patience makes the whole course a very safe and exciting experience! I highly recommend Cloudbase to anyone who wants to spread their wings!

Our whole family (including 15 year old) just learnt to fly with Cloudbase. We can't recommend Grey and the team highly enough, they are all so calm and clear when explaining all the new things we had to learn. They were super thorough, making sure we practiced the things we were weak at. The turnaround to get all the flights in each day was very really efficient. We really feel like Cloudbase has equipped us to start our paragliding career with a great foundation and sense of excitement. Just did a cross country course with Grey at Cloudbase Paragliding and i cannot recommend them highly enough! Ive been flying now for 2 1/2 years and really struggled to climb in Thermals let alone fly XC. During the course of the weekend, with the help of Grey and 3 of his instructors i managed to climb all the way to cloudbase and embark on a XC flight in the Cragieburn range. If you're looking to learn how to paraglide or improve your flying skills, i wouldn't look any further than Grey at Cloudbase Paragliding!!!

Grey from Cloudbase has a fantastic depth of knowledge and an incredible passion for the sport of paragliding and passing that knowledge on. In the field Grey is in tune with both your confidence and ability, and will tailor sessions to you personally to enable you to progress both quickly and safely. On top of this he is very personable and will go out of his way to accommodate his students. He was always available to fly when the conditions turned on (sometimes to his personal detriment) and was very generous with his gear, and pricing on new gear should you desire to continue. Along side Grey, the rest of the team that assisted were calm and extremely helpful with chipping in with extra tid bits of knowledge to take your flying to the next level. It is really impossible not to make lasting friendships with Grey and the team while completing your PG2. All round I highly recommend cloudbase for learning to paraglide. Having finished school and recieved my PG2 I am at the start of an exciting journey, but know I can still come to the team for trusted advice which is invaluable in a sport with such high consequences. I did my my whole paragliding training from intro to PG2 pilot license with Grey and his team (Jean and Ryan) and I can’t recommend enough. They are great instructors and definitely made the learning curve easy for all. Their enthusiasm for paragliding and teaching will make you fall in love with the sport. Grey can cater to everyone depending on their learning types and time restraints. Grey really takes his time to get to know each and everyone and welcomes you into his home, (make sure to have some lollies during theory). Grey really makes you feel part of the paragliding family. Grey has tons of knowledge, experience and lots of good flying stories. All the instruction and gear are top quality. Lots of different wings and gear to try before you look into purchasing your own. I know I’ll be seeing the team around Taylor’s Mistake for many years to come and look forward to flying with them in many more. If you want to learn to fly in Christchurch, this is the place to do it! Fantastic training from Grey and the whole team, learning to fly here has been a real pleasure. Well equipped with gear and vehicles - you'll never have to walk up the hill! The instructors are extremely experienced, so after completing PG2 I'm confident and comfortable flying. They're very flexible - Grey even worked on New Year's Day to make the most of a good weather opportunity.

Can not recommend enough!! I did my Pg1 and Pg2 with the team here. It was fantastic every step of the way, from starting off, to tips about gear and much more. I'm a PG 2 student in Auckland. I have collected 8 flights within 2 days under Grey's instruction while visiting Christchurch. It was absolutely a wonderful experience. Grey's instructions were clear and his feedback for each flight were informative. He required us to say the 5 points check out loud, which is definitely important for flying at anytime. I practiced speed bar, big ears and top landing in strong wing conditions. Highly recommended 😉

I trained with 5 professional paragliding instructors in NZ and a handful of trainees/helpers. Grey (Cloudbase) provided clear competent progressive instruction, the highest level of safety, excellent quality equipment, is well organised and the overall learning experience was seamless and totally enjoyable. Had had such an amazing time getting my PG2 license through Cloudbase Paragliding. Was hooked from the first flight! Attended the XC course organized by Cloudbase and it was great insight in details of XC flying, a lot of knowledge sharing by experienced pilots and flying together in safe environment that helped me develop more confidence about making the right decisions and technical flying as such. If you're thinking about trying paragliding for the first time - this is the school to do it with. Grey, Jean and the rest of the team are the absolute best at what they do - second to none!. The equipment is in excellent shape, they have access to the best training fields in the country (you actually get to properly fly the first day!) and they provide an environment that's challenging, safe, supportive and rewarding. I choose this place based on the reviews, completing my intro day, pg1 and pg2 here, and there's a good reason they have five stars. I just cannot recommend this school enough!

Wanting to fly can be an easy discussion, especially the buzz and the new perspective you get. However, choosing a training school can be a very hard and detrimental choice. His long years of flying and teaching, along with incredible patience made my learning flying experience priceless. I came here as a P2 pilot from the USA looking to convert to a PG2 rating. I can't express enough how fantastic Grey and Jean were as instructors. I learned how to top land, launch in windy conditions, and other important flight tools and tricks that will enhance my safety.
