Reviews of Dive Otago Ltd
I recently completed the Diploma in Professional Scuba Instruction at Dive Otago. The staff were extremely knowledgeable regarding the course material, dive sites, scuba gear and maintenance. The instructors were super supportive throughout the course. I can definitely say the Milford trip was a highlight!
The first time I came across this business I had zero knowledge of anything to do with the diving world. Each of the staff members I have dealt with have been extraordinary people and the culture of the company is clearly outstanding. They brought me along in a safe and comfortable manner and have been treated as a friend every time I enter the shop. This business has a winning formula and is staffed with truly special people.

Your favourite dive and why
First deep dive, terrible viz but the Playful sea lion was very memorable, dive was off a boat on the dry dock
In the 1st term learnt how to control my buoyancy using my breathing and BCD. How to adjust my trim underwater with the placement on my weights around my body. There was also the use of navigation underwater with a compass. These were the few things I felt affected my time underwater become a better experience. In the 2nd term I really hope to see my skills I've learnt so far become honed down so that I can feel more confident as a scuba diver later in the year as I move forward to an instructors level.
I've had some great instructors teaching me, so far through the year; Anthony, Emma, Liz, Jackson, Lily and Matt. Who all I have spent some time with, Matt has done a great job at sticking with our class through the 1st term at Dive Otago. I also felt Lily had Liz had done a great effort into teaching the class in our rescues.
One of my favourite dives I've done with Dive Otago has been my 1st time at Wellers Rock, particularly to do with the mass amount of aquatic life you'll find there. That day it had also been great visibility, compared to what we had been at Aramoana in previous dives. Aramoana has also been a great Dive Site, we have seen other types of aquatic life and the visibility can be pretty well on the odd day!
Dive otago has made my last year the best year so far ! Diving is amazing and everyone should give it a go! Seeing the underwater life and breathing underwater is an incredible experience you can have too🤿🦪
Recently went back to Milford Sound with Dive Otago (20 years after my first experience there!) and have to say they once again delivered an amazing experience! An incredible part of the world and every part of the trip was professionally delivered, highly recommend.
Anthony was super helpful with setting us up with tanks. We had a beautiful dive at Aromoana. Thanks!
Lizzy and Lily are very good instructors I like them very much. Made me feel safe. 11/10 recommend
Amazing experience it was one of the most fun activites I have done in a long time our instructors were absolutely amazing Espically lily
Amazing experience, highly recommended dive Otago and our amazing instructors Lizzy and Lily!!
Super friendly and knowledgeable instructors, great facility where you can learn top notch diving skills. Active Dive Club runs regular dive trips over weekends, you can explore the stunning underworld of Dunedin. Truly best of of the best dive center around the world! Everyone must give it a go breathing under the water here
I did my advanced open water course here, the staff were awesome l and really helpful. The instructor was knowledgeable and the divemasters really knew the dive sites well. On the second day we had the opportunity to go out on the boat and explore some dive sites on the East side of the Peninsula which was incredible.
I dived with the club on the 23th of march It was a really good experience. Even if their wetsuit are a bit old, the rest of the gear is quite good. We did two dive for a really good price and in a nice place. I recommend this diving structure. I would have dived again with them if I had the time.
Awesome experience! Great instructors!
Had couple of awesome dives with Dive Otago this weekend.
Went out to Aromoana and explored the ship wrecks and kelp forrests around the mole.
Fantastic dive terrain with great marine life including a visit from a curios Sea lion.
Big thanks to Brad for showing me around down there!
Highly recommended
Quality training facility, great staff and some awesome marine life at the local dive sites. This is one of the greatest places to learn to dive because if you can dive here, you can dive anywhere. Get amongst it boys. #pearla
