Newstead Country Preschool is one of the few places where your children can enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting and lots of animals. Continuing improvement is being done to keep spaces engaging and fun. A big thumbs up for the team as well, highly recommended

Both of my children attended Newstead Country Preschool quite some time ago. The care our children received was exceptional. They were exposed to so many skills we could not offer. Staff are caring and attentive. If you want your child being looked after in an exceptionally safe and caring environment, Newstead Country Preschool is the place I recommend. Staff are looked after and enjoy their work and leadership. Hence the staff turnover is low. Love the place. Love the staff. Love what the preschool offered especially what it offers in terms of outdoor education. Happy mum. My kids are studying now and are well adjusted and positive young adults. Thank you. Thank you....

A wonderful preschool. Our daughter attended for 2 years before school and she loved it. There is a lot of outdoors time, including a morning walk each day, and time spent with animals and on the farm. The teachers are all wonderful, and there is minimal staff changes which allows the children to be settled and safe. The children have a good routine, while still being allowed free time to explore and be themselves. I would recommend this preschool to anyone wanting independent, confident and kind children, as these are the attributes I believe Newstead Preschool teaches.

We have been part of the preschool family for 3 years now. What an amazing journey. What attracted us towards this pre-school at the beginning was the "nature" touch that the pre-school still maintains in so overly digital times we are in. The exposure to animals, the walks, the physical activities - all of it is just perfect for kids!
The quality of teachers and learning opportunities provided at the pre-school are phenomenal. I have seen my daughter growing up into a kind, compassionate, caring girl who have learnt the smarts of life at various stages of her growth. This wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't the contributions made by the pre-school.
Thank you Newstead Country Preschool :)

Both our daughters went to Newstead country preschool and absolutely loved it! In fact when our youngest left last year we all cried as it was like losing a part of our extended family. The rural setting is wonderful and the children have so many opportunities for outdoor learning about the environment and looking after animals. The daily walks were always a highlight for our kids. The staff are extremely friendly, caring and professional. I would thoroughly recommend Newstead Country Preschool.

Such a great Preschool! Both of my children attended Newstead Country Preschool from when they turned 1 year old until they went to school. I was constantly amazed at the new ideas the teachers came up with to give the kids a learning experience while they were having fun! Lots of great farm walks and adventures in a safe environment, I always knew my children were well-cared for with such warm, friendly teachers. I highly recommend this Preschool.

I went to Newstead 18 years ago and still have very fond memories of the place. There was such good exposure to outdoor life and animals. I am still friends with some of the people I went to preschool with and still stay in touch with some of the staff. Just goes to show what great people work and attend here. Couldn't recommend more!

We have had our little girl in Newstead Country Preschool since she was 11 months old. The staff at Newstead Country Preschool have looked after my girl like she is their own from the minute she started there. Our daughter had previously been quite scared of animals but within months of starting at Newstead we watched her confidence grow around the animals. Now she rides Gilbert (the pony), pats the sheep, plays with the mouse and chases the chickens. Kids are encouraged to explore the outdoors with their daily walks through the forest and their huge play ground and farm. Carters carers are brilliant at uploading stories onto Educa and Carters whole family enjoy keeping up to date with her adventures.

We have been very fortunate to have NCP as a part of the lives of our growing girls. The opportunities to get outside, walk, interact with the animals, construct and build are a very special and unique feature of the preschool. They make it a great place to be and result in incredible stories shared on the way home. The staff are incredible in the way that they know, respond to and demonstrate respect for each child. They have built strong, caring and supportive relationships with our girls and us. An inspiring place!

It was a sad goodbye when our youngest daughter started school recently, after nearly 9years of having our 3daughters grow and learn through Newstead Country Preschool. We have loved seeing our girls thrive in their own ways at NCP, through the warm family atmosphere, daily outings in the fantastic surrounding environments, interactions with different animals and the structure and freedom to play and learn. The small but close knit staff are really what make NCP so wonderful and Tracy and her team do an amazing job of keeping things fresh and relevant while at the same time creating a safe and comfortable place for children to grow. Thank you NCP

How on earth can you write a review that will do justice to the place and the people that have nurtured and supported your children so well and helped them to learn and develop so much confidence. NCP is truly unique. From the animals and the long walks and adventures in the extensive grounds to the woodwork and the pottery it has been an incredible experience for our kids and they have relished every moment of it and never once grumbled about going there each day. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Cannot rate NCP highly enough - such an incredible facility filled with people who are passionate about caring for and stimulating the young minds of our children. Our son started at 18 months old and every day until he went to school was an adventure - be it pony rides, feeding lambs, kayaking in the stream or a trip to the caravan or flying fox on their daily walk. We call it outward bound for kids! It's the kind of place where imagination is free to roam and is actively encouraged to. Now at school, we still visit occasionally so he can share what he's been up to with his other family!

We are so grateful to have found NCP! Our 2 children have been nurtured by the lovely staff, and have gone off to school as happy confident little people. Their individual interests were encouraged and built on by providing relevant learning opportunities. I loved the fact that they had a lot of time interacting with all ages, and also had their own spaces for age appropriate activities. The different open spaces, farm animals and daily bush walks added another dimension to their preschool experiences - such a great point of difference. It was a sad goodbye to NCP.

Having recently completed a long term relieving position in the Big Kids room, I wish to share my experience which was an amazing journey, one I will always treasure.
Newstead Country Preschool is a unique, small center with excellent child / teacher ratios. It has an absolutely amazing farm like environment, surrounded by animals of all types, which the children have an opportunity to learn about, observe and care for on a daily basis. The outdoor play areas are spacious and uncluttered, allowing the children to explore and develop their interests / skills at their own pace. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed, with such a happy, friendly rapport between whanau and teachers. Parents regularly shared their skills / interests and knowledge relating to the programme, which reflects the ultimate goal - a true partnership in the care and education of all children. The daily bush adventures were another dimension to further enrich the childrens fun learning journey. Tracy, the owner, not only runs an excellent centre but she has a wealth of energy, adventure, enthusiasm and a commitment in complementing the quality of educational experiences. She leads in scaffolding the children's learning outcomes in a wide variety of ways, sharing amazing challenges and experiences for the children, which are only achievable because of the centre's uniquely special environment.

We had the privilege of sending three of our children to this wonderful pre-school and we have loved every minute of the 13yrs attended. There is nothing more comforting than knowing your children are loved and cared for by these dedicated carers. Most of our family live overseas and are amazed by the extraordinary and unique facilities our children had at this pre-school. The woodlands, farm animals just a pop over the fence. I cannot say enough about how wonderful this pre-school is.

Both our children went through NCP and we have nothing but amazing things to say about it. When it was time for our children to head to school, saying goodbye to NCP was tough. The children there aren't a number or a name on a page, NCP is like one big family. The rural setting is like no other- the children have daily walks through different parts of the farm, allowing their imaginations to run wild; they could be tinkerbell in the forest one day or treasure hunters or eel catchers the next. A 5 star rating isn't enough for NCP, they deserve 10+. We will always be so grateful for the memories created at NCP – thank you NCP for taking such good care of our little people.

We have had 4 kids at Newstead Country Preschool, our oldest started in 2004 and our youngest is due to leave to head to school in Aug 2016 :-( We love the friendly `family like` environment, and all the opportunities our kids have been given. The staff are awesome, and because many of them have been at NCP for so long its so cool taking our older kids in... They love chatting with their old carers! We love how the 3 different age groups have their own programmes, but also have the opportunity to interact - this was especially important to us when we had more than 1 child there - they had the chance to interact during the day even while at NCP. The outdoor opportunities are great, the kids take part in all aspects - I.e. feed the chickens, clean them out, then use the eggs they have laid in baking! The kids are taught/see/experience respect for each other and all the `living world`. Each of the outdoor locations and walks have special significance, especially to those of us who have had the privilege of `belonging` for so long. It will be a very sad day when our youngest leaves NCP for school and we have to leave the NCP family.

I am the licencee of Queens Park ECE in Invercargill, and I was lucky enough to be accepted for a visit here as part of my professional development plan. I was so surprised of how much this place can offer to the tamariki!
For starter it is absolutely fabulous to have a forest walk INSIDE the campus, safely maintained and lead by teachers, bringing tamariky closer to nature with so much stimulation. The variety of animals making it a zoo-like environment, well selected and safe outdoor equipments in the play ground, tidy and well maintained classroom, welcoming and spacious parent’s section, mat time is separated by age for better focus during activities, mixed age interaction helping older tamariki to develop loving and caring nature to younger ones, in the same time encourage younger tamariki building self-confidence through interacting with older ones, at the final stage of their learning journey, they too offered a before school class to help tamariki to get ready for school through more numeracy / literacy related plays, all the above accompanied with brilliant 1:4 adult to children ratio, ensuring each and every tamariki is well cared for at all times.
The visit was so inspiring and enjoyable; from here I discovered so much ideas I can improve my own with. It truly is a preschool full of heart and love. I am sure every tamariki here will be happy, sparkle, and most importantly, well cared for. Well done girls!
