I joined the Waikato Kendo Club early 2021 and immediately became a part of the family. The club is very welcoming, and the teachings are well explained and with good ,traditional methods. Sensei is patient and the senpai are very approachable. I would definitely recommend if an existing kendoka or someone interested in learning.

A truely wonderful kendo dojo led by experienced, enthusiastic & down-to-earth Sam & Marleen sensei. Supported by many friendly senpai kendokas who are very willing to share & pass on their knowledge to help beginners improve. Good training to develop mental & physical resilience. A great start line to begin ones kendo journey as well as making lifelong friends! Come & see & you won’t disappoint😊

A great club for everyone of all ages and backgrounds! The instructors are supportive and very knowledgeable. Not only do you explore the martial art aspect of Kendo, but also the philosophical side of it, making lessons and training engaging and enlightening.

A super Kendo club with really nice people.
Whether you're experienced or a novice this is a great kendo club for all levels and all ages.
If you're considering taking up kendo you wont find a better place to start, they run 12 week beginners courses twice a year which are very popular.
Sensei Sam Tsai and Sensei Marleen Charng are truly inspirational.
Don't just take my word for it .. call in and see for yourself ... you may even get some tea & a piece of cake. :)

If you want to be inspired by the way of Samurai, this is the best dojo in town. Kendo is not only a martial art that train you to be strong physically and also mentally. Good Sensei and friendly students here makes me keep going back no matter how hard the training is!
