Second year flying with Bay of Islands Aeroclub. As an overseas temporary member John is excellent to ensure you get a NZ licence. Great to expand your flying experience in the tremendous amount of free airspace. Even the CTR's are not that difficult. For pilots used to cramped airspace in Europe this is pure flying.
The Tecnam 2008 with glass cockpit is one of the best sport aircrafts I have flown. Clearly a recommendation if you love flying here.

As a former glider pilot keen on learning to fly powered I spent a week with John doing the first stages of my PPL. I had an outstanding week. Big plusses for me were:
- John's an excellent instructor, he has years of experience and a patient manner.
- The modern Tecnam P2008 aircraft with a glass cockpit is a joy to fly, I can't rate it highly enough!
- NZKK is a great location to learn, didn't lose a single day to weather despite it being autumn, and the scenery is beautiful.
- Being a small airfield, other traffic is manageable which helps minimise distractions when you're learning.
I had such a good time I'm planning to return for another week in a few months.
Whether you're looking to learn to fly from scratch or you hold an overseas PPL and require an NZ certification, FlyitNZ is a great way to get into GA flying in NZ.
