Reviews of Hampshire Holiday Parks - Glendhu Bay
One of the best camps! Toilets clean, showers amazing, hosts welcoming, lake views outstanding. We parked right on the lake with views if the glacier and mountains too. We wanted to do the Rob Roy track but no dogs allowed so the fabulous camp owners and staff doggie sat for us! Dogs and us had a great time. Excellent place to do rob roy track from
We had a powered site with a Lake Front view which was lovely. The small toilet block near us was pretty old but the main shower and toilet block were more modern and much cleaner but like most camping grounds the shower cubicles are quite small so hard to keep your stuff dry while you shower. $1 for 7mins of hot water.
Rating 5 Just Because Of The Friendliest Staff Members You'll Ever Meet, That's Apart From The Scenery, The Lake, The Amenities, They Have A Fuel Station, And A Shop On Site,, And 411 Campsites,, Well Done Glendu Bay 👍
One of the best camp sites I have been to .In covid times so some of the facilities not open but stunning views and walking and bike tracks
Stayed in the house with a group. Great facilities inside and out. Lots of room for everyone, the outside covered area with the chimney is excellent in the evenings.
Fantastic camp, very friendly staff, beautiful views and laid back environment
Great and very large site by the lake. Bit of a trek for the ablution block but worth it for the location
We only had boats on lake front but was too rough. Camp looked awesome would love to stay there one-day 😀 😍
Great lakeside campsite with good facilities. Can be busy with large groups of children during school holidays.
One of the best place to stay for a day or two or even longer. Beautiful lake on your first sight of the day. Park your campervan just right on the bank of the lake. Big, tidy restrooms and comforting kitchen and common area. Reception staff is very friendly kind and helpful. I highly recommend a stay here.
We had a lake front site, breathtaking views and crystal clear water to swim in. Walking trails from the camp, absolutely fabulous!
Nice place to stay. Walking tracks. Swimming. Lake views.
Loved this campsite. Very peaceful (late February). Large sites with or without shade and beside lake.
Excellent facilities for cooking and really nice common room/ dining room.
Good for families, kids, bikes, walkers...
A short drive to Puzzling World.
Enjoyed watching the jet boats taking off by the campsite in the weekend.
Highly recommended.
Loved this place. Beautiful spot, away from the hustle and bustle of the town but close enough if you needed anything. Stunning views over the lake. Friendly owners and great facilities. Getting a little cold late April, have to come back in the summer time.
The view made up for the tied park. A bit of a walk to the toilets and showers. $2 for 4 minutes of hot water...mmmm.
A large facility.
- I understand that the showers are $1 for 6 min. Good on you for sorting it.
Excellent value and amazing stay with my friends at Glendhu Bay in our campervans. Great atmosphere with families and campervanners. If you don’t mind a bit of noise first thing(the camp promotes boat owners) then it’s ideal! Great little spot by the waterfront and helpful staff. Nice touch that they didn’t make us pay for 2 sites when the unpowered sites fit multiple vehicles on! Would go back. The pontoon was a real hit.
This Gampground is a big 9. I stay over winter 4 months and now complains so good thanks 🙏🏻 for everything l
Lots to do and see. One grandson spent alot of time in the water and the other grandson was able to explore the mountain bike tracks locally. The weather was changeable but didn't distract us from enjoying our time in Wanaka.
On a negative note I feel more attention could have been made to ensure the toilet facility in the accommodation blocks were cleaner and the bins emptied more frequently instead of paper towels overflowing onto the floor. All on all we had a lovely time. THANK YOU
Great family camp well run excellent fatalities, paradise
Lovely atmosphere, lots of kids on bikes, families out on the water
This is my favorite campsite during our campervan trip in South New Zealand. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly, the facilities were clean and have everything we needed. Most of all, the view was amazing. I really wish we could spent more time in this place. Next time when the pandemic over and we have the chance to visit New Zealand again. I will definitely stay few days in this campsite 😘
Clean and tidy family campground. Good facilities, toilets clean, didn't use showers!! Safe and friendly, was very busy but good atmosphere . Would be great to see better recycling facilities and compost for food scraps.
I went for a Sunday morning swim with Wanaka Lake swimmer's. Magic!
Absolutely beautiful location. Extremely clean facilities. We had a powered site on the banks of the amazing lake. Highly recommend
This is a great camping ground well run and very professional. Staff good, grounds well looked after and set out. A little on the expensive side but the location is pretty special
Absolutely perfect camping. They have super tidy and clean facilities. The kitchen is big, a lot of space and they even have 4 ovens. The views are awesome, and we couldn't imagine better for the price. The staff is amazing, helpful and super nice. We will come back even if we already stayed there during all the lockdown (best place ever to be locked in!).

The was my favourite powered camp site I stopped at my solo trip around New Zealand. The facilities were fantastic and had everything you could need while camping or caravaning around the area.
The views across Glendhu bay any time during the day or night are some of the best you will see. The location is a quick drive into town and to activities in the area.
Next time I travel to NZ I will come here again.
Beautiful lakeside spot, good facilities the Staff are very friendly, there's was an Irish girl sorry, Northern Irish girl there when we visited, incredibly helpful if at times at little hard to understand, can't remember her name, but she was very helpful and kind gave us lots of info on the area and seems to really want to get to know the customers. You should ask her the story of the local man who thought he saw an orca in the lake, au that was my favourite, but she had lots of stories for the little ones.
What a great campground!! For us a perfect stay to hike Roy's Peak and visit Rob Roy glacier. At the end of the day the lake is very close to take a refreshing dip. When we were there, the facilities were very clean and worked great. The people who reviewed the cleanliness badly, probably only went to the small building in the middle with some toilets. They are not the cleanest, but perfect washrooms etc. are just a 100meter further on each side. We wanted to stay forever :-)
Perfect campground!
Lake side with great amenities and it doesnt cost an arm and a leg!
Onsite Managers are lovely so if you want a good kiwi camp ground this is it!
It was a nice campervan park- it had a kitchen and a heated lounge area. I didn't like that the hot showers were timed and cost extra or that the facilities felt like they were far away. We did notice that they had affordable petrol on site which was a nice touch. It was a lovely stay by the water but not one of the best places I had stayed on my camper adventure.
Glendhu bay motor camp is a good peaceful family camp with lake view. It's been the first time I went there and would definitely go again. Unfortunately it was raining the day we went camping but it was still beautiful to be surrounded by Mother Nature. It is 11km away from town and has its own shop or you can go into town for more shopping experiences. Glendu Bay I highly recommend for a family outing. These photos were taken from inside our caravan.
Very popular for boating and mountain biking, the Glendu mountain park is just across the road. Clean and tidy, modern, showers are $2 for 6 minutes
AMAZING stay and great value for money staying in a beautifully kept cabin. Set on the beautiful lake this site has a very special community vibe. When we have kids we want to bring them here. Bring $1 coin for shower
I had passed this place many times while van lifeing it at another campground in Wanaka and never thought it would be quite my cup of tea. Although that campground closed down when the country moved to level 4 alert and I got stuck here on lockdown for 4 weeks. At first I was annoyed at the price but the managers and the custodians of this place are so kind an generous, and the facilities really are top notch. And I’ve literally never said that about anywhere before. I couldn’t ask for anything more from a campground. They even had some old mountain bikes that we rode out to the crag and to Wanaka town many times. I would definitely lock down here again. Or just holiday, you know. ; )
The staff at this holiday park were the nicest that we have encountered so far on our trip. They were exceptionally helpful and accommodating. Beautiful peaceful spot to stay. We had a lovely night.
Brilliant place! Loved waking up to the sunrise over the lake.
The lady in reception was absolutely wonderful, even let us stay longer then the check out time.
The facilities are dated near the reception however across the bridge are much better though it is a cheaper place in the area. The communal area with a fire place was great place to gather and get to know other travellers.
Highly recommended- family friendly as well :)
Best place to stay near Wanaka!
We stayed here for the covid-19 lockdown and we couldn't imagine a better place to be locked in. We even stayed some more days after as we felt so good there! The campsite is beautiful and calm: in front of Wanaka Lake, surrounded by mountains. The staff is also very kind and facilities are perfect. Thanks for everything!
Good spot to camp. Clean and tidy. Hot days Wind got up a bit. Nice views.
Always love staying here, just far enough out of Wanaka to feel like a completely different place. The administration is not always up to speed, but it all works out in the end.
Lovely holiday park. Beautiful views and all the way in front of the lake. The new administration is so friendly and nice. Everything clean and working perfectly. We used the kitchen, bbq, showers and it was all really good. Plenty of power spots and really close to Wanaka. It will be ideal for a weekend. Everything is so beautiful!!! Will highly recommend it. Cheers!
This is a great place to stay. A little drive for Wanaka but well worth it to camp/park beside the lake (also cheaper). We got amazing pictures of the lake and mountains at sunset and rise. New shower block also very good.
Friendly, great view. Good value for money. A gem.
Great spot. Facilities clean. Nice lounge area. They have a little shop at reception. Can easily walk along the lake front from a footpath at one end of the park.
Really nice campsite with plenty of place and with extremely helpful owner. We went out hiking to the Mt. Aspiring National Park for one night, we could left in this campsite our car without any charge. We even didn't have to unpitch our tent it can stand on our campsite.
We arrived later than excepted, our heater was turned on for us. Nice warm cosy cabin. Comfy bed. Perfect for a nights stay. Beautiful scenery.
Stayed here many years ago and cannot believe how big it has gotten.
But today we were just driving past to go fishing. Son caught a nice 3lb trout just down from the motor camp.
Exceptionally good value for money. Stayed on power site for 2 nights $17pn for 1 person. Didn't use showers as I was parked some distance away, my choice. Superb setting right by the lake.
Always a pleasure when on holiday, the camp is very green this Xmas.
Stayed one night. The cabins are very close to the bathroom and kitchen block. Showers cost $1 for 6min. Cosy cabin adequate for our needs. Easy access to lake and amazing views. Worth the 10min drive to be out of the busy town centre. We really enjoyed our stay.
Tons of space, stunning lake and mountain views from the attached pebble beach. Good amount of facilities, kitchen is a tad small. Loved a couple of nights camping here, also a short drive into Wanaka and Treble Cone
One of the best spots to camp with fantastic views of mountains. New facilities soon so hope they make them as nice as the other newer facilities at other end of camp.
Worth the extra couple of minutes drive out of Wanaka! You will not find anywhere more beautiful. It is also run by the nicest people. Highly recommend! A must visit!
Plan to stay longer then you thought. You won’t regret it.
One of the best campgrounds I've camped in anywhere but our stay was spoiled a little by a kiwi party playing music after 1 AM. Also don't like the kiwi way of using my campsite as a continuous highway shortcut instead of walking a little further to the public access. Both adults and children did this. Unlike camping in Australia, US, Canada, the kiwis appear to have no respect for campsite boundaries and privacy. My neighbour's child came right into my tent fly and spied me changing while shortcutting through my site. When I screamed, the boy scampered and his mother only said "Dont go in there". No apology to me or reprimand for the boy.
Lovely clean and tidy site. Welcoming hosts would stay again. Great kitchen. Good sized sites for the van. Excellent laundry and drying lines.
Really basic holiday park. Everything in it was old and not very clean ( in the other side it's really cheap so you get for what you paid for). The staff was friendly.
Love this place. Right on the lake. Outdoor fire for campers to use. We cooked our dinner on it one night.
Was a great place, had the lodge booked for Christmas. The shared facilities were clean and staff were helpful and friendly
Wow what a cool place!!! Its huge, facilities are spotless and the views are breathtaking. Very reasonable prices too!
It was a late check-in, I didn't any notice in reception. But, it has a great view filling with full of sea and sky blue. Adorable
Great place. Clean and all you need close to treble Cone if your into paragliding like me.
Nice place, pricey rates for the S.I but typical of the area, however you can't beat the location
A hidden gem located at the other side of Lake Wanaka. Lovely view from the campsite. Its quiet and calm, believe that it will get busy in summer.
Great campsite. Good views. Can be crowded
Great spot, amazing staff with a relaxed environment, stayed many many times. I highly recommend glendu bay motor camp, infact if your looking for a motor camp in the wanaka/ hawea region, look no further...
Great place for families! Very nice people at reception. All sites are very close to the beachfront.
Great camping ground, facilities were amazing! No teatowels for dishes but that's probably on us
Nicely spread out so that we could score a quiet and remote site with no reservation on a Friday night in early March. Water temp is “refreshing,” but we are glad to have stumbled on this place.
Super view, good rates, friendly staff, but amenities are far away
What a place! Full of families and holiday makers, exposed to the wind but apart from that simply stunning! All clean facilities with new shower block! Would highly recommend
Great lakeside bays to relax and enjoy boating and swimming
Nice Park. Kitchen is small for big crowd. Shower is good. 1$ for 6 minutes of hot water. Beautiful location.
Beautifull place to holiday. Have going there for our family holiday for the last 13 years.
Perfect place for any one wants to camp. Few miles from Wanaka if you don't get to camp in Wanaka. Bathrooms are clean. Take NZ$ 1 for 6 mins of hot shower.
Best lake side accommodation
Beautiful scenery. Very peaceful. Loved our stay. Woke up in paradise
Great location and reasonably priced. Well maintained grounds and facilities.
Awesome caravan park. Beautiful new facilities and the man is so kind and friendly to us. Love here so much. Can’t miss it!
Best holiday park❤️
Very nice camping with very kind owners. We stayed here during the lockdown and it was amazing. I advice you to stay in this camping
Nice friendly staff, beautiful views. Shame about the one block of old, unheated unisex toilets/showers in winter. We used the newer lodge single sex amenities which were very clean, warm and modern and were lucky enough to get a powered site nearby, as most powered sites are a long walk away. It also made the kitchen facilities further away. Good value for money but you get what you pay for - you have to pay $1 per person/per shower extra which I saw on the website reviews but they don't tell you upfront when you book at reception. No extras provided like pots and pans or hairdryers like some campsites have. BYO everything.
Good amenities which are always clean. Right on the lake :-)
I've camped here every year of my life and it's the closest thing I have to home. Tourists get out.
Awesome! Incredible views right next to Lake Wanaka. Top facilities
Great camp, cheaper than others we've stayed at and so much better. Great view and friendly, helpful staff.
I first stayed there in 1964 and although it was great then it has improved massively. Just hope it stays as a motor camp forever
Weather didn't treat us well, but amenities are well maintained and established tress provide good shelter from the sun.
Large campsite. Very large powered pitches, but sometimes during the late evening someone would pitch up and park on part of your plot :(
We camped right on the edge of the bay with an excellent view. Kitchens, showers and laundry were all good. Plenty of opportunities for fishing and water sports. Many groups had brought their motor boats.
breathtaking mountain view, spacious camp site, have a new shower unit, helpful owner, definitely a valuable camping site around Wanaka.
Great to have the facility upgrade - shower/toilet block, laundry, kitchen and dinning room.
Still getting head around new site #'s.
Fantastic camping spot - some of the most picturesque sites in New Zealand. And super friendly too. I highly recommend.
There is simply no better place than this in the Wanaka area and possibly even in the Queenstown one.
We stayed in the double cabin for 2 nights, we added 1 night because it was way too comfortable.
$50 for a cabin with linen is something you can rarely find anywhere in the country.
The location is to die for.
Good kitchen and clean bathrooms.
The 6 minutes showers for $1 are more than long enough.
The fuel they have at their own pump station is at pretty good price.
Absolutely recommended!
Busy camping ground great for boat launches
Great lakeside location, just needs investment in some more freezers and fridges to ease the life of the unpowered campers.
Fantastic location right on lake side away from bustle of Wanaka. Fabulous hosts
Beautiful locationn. Facilities clean but in need of renovation. Pay for showers. Reasonable camp fees.
Beautiful campsite on lake Wanaka. Great facilities .
Great location busy camp good facilities. Well worth a visit.
Great kiwi motor camp, lake at your door step. Have been holidaying here for the past 57 years and hope for many more.
Good price. Good facilities. Really friendly knowledgeable staff. Communal living room even has a wood burner.
Lovely spot and facilities were AAA+.
Old style okay facility, busy place and lots of people ( just because summer season ) but great lake front location.
Cool place, well located, stunning views, power and kitchen (no pans or pots, BYO!). Bring 1$ coins for a hot shower!
Best campsite of our NZL trip, what a view. Facilities also great
Huge campground, facilities are a bit limited for the size but the setting makes up for it. Friendly staff too.
Hidden gem, right on the lakefront!!!! Great kiwi campsite!!!
Great cabin ,clean as showers , definitely recommend.
cheap and great location but everything dirty and old fashioned. No Free Unlimited Wifi.
Great space, great facilities, great staff, amazing views!
Great place to visit. Beautiful new facilities
Best holiday park around
Classic Kiwi Camping experience. Great views from anywhere
Best ever place to camp.
Beautiful setting and fabulous service from the owners. A great place to relax
Beautiful scenery and good amenities.
Friendly staff, nice lake side view, calm surrounding.
Lovely spot to camp, highly recommend
The most amazing sunrise ive seen, nice staff and a good campsite
Wow! What an awesome location. Friendly staff and clean new facilities.
Lovely camp to spend more than one night.
62 consecutive years + for Annual holidays. No other place like it. Good enough recommendation?
Great place to stay never lets me down
Nice camping near the lake. Plenty of room per spot.
You get what you pay for. When we don't want to spend too much money in some of our trips to Wanaka we always book with them as they are the cheapest. This place is for those on a budget. The kitchen doesn't supply anything not even the dish washing liquid. You need to bring everything you need for cooking except for the stove top and over. Bring your pots, soap etc. When you book the cheapest cabin you will be ask if you will bring you own duvet as this is extra charge. We bring our own to save further. Be well organise so what ever little you have will stretch a little bit further.
Love it!! My favourite place to go!
January 2022 fire......
I want specially say Thanks to this outstanding park while my son and I stayed in NZ for over 10days in Nov-Dec 2014- Glendhu Bay Lakeside Holiday park #3 in Wanaka. I
t is cheapest $20 per person but the best quality, comfortable, enough sleep cover for free, warm and big & warm shower, the owner specially the British young lady Rebecca(?) working there is extremely helpful. They waited us late night and made us felt like home. The serves is really no money can buy. On the way back we stayed there again even it is out of our way! They even found the electric tooth brush for me!
They have totally represent 100% New Zealand Honor and spirit!
Have a success year of 2015 for your great company!
Best regards,
Christina Rong Zhou
Top spot Great facilities, views and weather
The price is reasonable. Closer to, Roy’s Peak, Treble Cone and Mount Aspiring
Great place to stay, awesone views and friendly staff
Perfect camping at lakeside! Spend 4 nights :-)
Great campsite, beautiful little area!
Lovely views, nice place to stay
Genuine lakeside sites - extended an extra night
Wonderfully supportive of those walking the Te Araroa
Just a visit but looks great
Stunning spot Facilities could do with a spruce up but fine

nice place!
Well what can one say about Glendhu Motor Camp that has not already been said in previous reviews. Heather and i had the best experience here and the camp managers went out of their way to make our stay the best experience.
We are certainly spreading the word. Thank you.
(Translated) A beautiful, spacious campsite near Wanaka (about 15 minutes by car to the city center) the area is very large, so you certainly find a suitable place :) in that the space is just so big, he could have another kitchen or Shower rooms contract. The way to the kitchen and the showers can sometimes be further. Have experienced this at least on other campsites and found a 2 kitchen always very convenient. Hot shower costs $ 1 and then runs 6min. Totally sufficient in my opinion. Kitchen has hotplates and utensils to wash off. It was not the cleanest, best equipped kitchen I've seen in a month in New Zealand, but it serves its purpose. Very good I found: there was a hot water boiler, where you could tap directly hot water (good for tea etc) and there were some cozy couches in the kitchen, books, jigsaw puzzels ... There is a playground .... So generally offers Place a lot and it is a good value for money.

(Translated) I had a walk in for camping. They provided me a small area. I was alone with my car. They asked me Double price $ 36, cause it's peak season! On 28 Dec! I had no choice! So I just let you know if you are gonna go there and only you with your car. Expect double price at peak season^^.
I came here because I couldn't find it in Wanaka.
At first, I said that it was difficult because there was no room, but I knew that the small space next to the cabin was okay. New people keep coming in after me... Shower 1 light. Overall, 18 dollars is satisfactory, but 36 dollars... It seems like it's gourd...

(Translated) I do not think there are so many Koreans here, so I'll leave a review.
I can not go without a basic rental and the facility is a little old, but the scenery is really nice
The price is good and is the most memorable place to stay for 10 days.
We need to get to Wanaka downtown for 20 minutes.

(Translated) Super campsite not too expensive, just a shame that the WiFi did not work (due to floods ...)
(Original)
Super camping pas trop cher, juste dommage que le WiFi ne fonctionnait pas (du aux inondations...)
(Translated) A fantastic location, relaxed staff.
The campsite is located directly on the shores of Glendhu Bay. You can choose your own pitch and have a wonderful view over parts of Lake Wanaka. Nearby great walks can be started. Roys Peak is a tough 1250m climb, from the outlook just first class tour that starts at Diamont Lake and leads to the top of the Rocky Hills (440m elevation gain, but very varied)
(Original)
