An excellent introduction to the seemingly daunting world of sailing. This course doesn't leave you stuck in the classroom all day, watching videos and looking at slideshows! The vast majority of the course is spent out on Wellington Harbour, learning through hands-on interaction with the boats. Yes, it can be a little bit full-on at times and some parts of my body hurt that I didn't know existed, but ultimately it is a rewarding and unique opportunity to gain essential skills in a fascinating sport and leisure activity.

Amazing experience with Wellington Ocean Sport, I cannot recommend these guys highly enough. I recently attended their awesome Learn to Sail course as a complete novice and came away with a firm grasp of all the fundamentals. The course was well run - very professional but also friendly and jovial (we had two immense instructors in Jim and Graham). I've already booked my next course and look forward to joining the club and racing :-)... thanks so much guys

We had a 2 hr sail with James as our Skipper, very informative on learning to sail and he even conjured up a massive pod of dolphins which was a amazing experience 👍🐬

Took the level 1 Learn-To-Sail course. Graeme was a great teacher, had a perfect balance of class time and on-the-water time. Already booked my subsequent course before this one finished!! Highly recommend.

Just completed the beginners keel boat sailing course and had an excellent experience and great time. These guys are great sailors and teachers. The boats are perfect for learning in. Highly recommend them for sailing courses.

Learn to sail courses are great. Would recommend to anyone interested in sailing in the future. Skilled and confident instructors. Just turn up and learn! Great fun and quite challenging.

Great team at Wellington Ocean Sports. My partner and I attended the Level 1 course over a couple of weekends. Good mix of theory and sailing with most of the time spent on the water. The instructors are patient, knowledgeable and approachable. Even when the wind gusted to 25-40 knots it felt safe and fun to be on the water. This was a fantastic experience and I can't wait to sail again.

I really enjoyed my introduction to keelboats course. I feel like I learned haps and had a very good time out on the water getting along swimmingly with both our instructor and the the rest of the class!

I did the Learn to Sail course this week. This is a great course if you want to .. learn to sail. The instructors are top-notch (and patient at the same time). Learn from the pros and enrol. Before you set off, buy sunglasses and a string that ties your hat or cap to your main gear.

Incredible experience! I learned a lot from the instructors from theory to sailing techniques. Wellington Ocean Sports really encourages you to continue sailing after the intro course and make it easy to get involved with the Yacht club. Great company and program.

I thoroughly enjoyed learning to sail with ocean sports. Our instructor was knowledgeable and ensured that we all got the skills that we needed in order to sail. I met a great bunch of people on the course. My wife and I plan to do the next level sailing course as well.

I did the introduction to Keelboat sailing course and it was amazing. The instructors, John & Sam where brilliant. It's amazing how much you can pick up in a few days. I would highly recommend it. I enjoyed it so much, I'll be back to do another course

I’ve recently completed the introduction to sailing course and it was fantastic! John is a brilliant instructor, and the evening sessions were fantastic. All of us that took part got plenty of opportunities to try each role on the boat and learned heaps!

One of the best courses I have ever done. So much practical experience, with some classroom work that is totally related to the learning, but without being too much. Jim is the most enthusiastic, knowledgeable teacher I have had for a while.

I've taken two courses with Wellington Ocean Sports and have enjoyed (and learned lots) in both courses. Special shout-out to the instructors, Graeme and John, for being so happy to share their experiences and extra tidbits with curious students.

I've read the one star reviews, but I did'nt have any of the issues that were discussed. My emails were responded to promptly and courteously. This is a great group of instructors that have years of experience behind them. They are knowledgable, and patient. I found them to be very helpful, and they even took us for a round of drinks on day two. My wife and I took the level 1 course, and came away having learned a lot. There is some classroom theory portions, but mostly your time is spent learning out on the water. There were comments about it being expensive. All I can say to that is that between fuel, rigging, boats, instructors, facilities, and providing wet weather gear.... I'd say that they don't have a huge profit margin, and alot of their earnings go back into maintaining their gear. Sailing is'nt a cheap sport or form of recreation. We plan to take more of their courses, and look forward to seeing Craig, and the rest of his team in the future.
