L.For the past few years, myself and my family have been staying here during the holiday period and honestly cant fault it. The kids always have a ball. Which lets face it, every parent needs the peace. The place is always clean and tidy and the hosts are both lovely, amazing people.
Hopefully its still there next year, if so count us in. I really dont know what the problem is with some people, its a holiday park/campground not a 5 star motel. Cheers guys and happy new year.
L.Beautiful place, great facilities (keep in mind - 6 min shower/$1). Next to the city center, and next to the beach. You don't need a car at all, everything is very close.

Kitchen needed a bit of a clean as did the fridges. There wernt that many people there.
It's the only camping ground around so theres no choice really if you need to stay in Whangamata

Very friendly staff. Clean facilities. There are more than ample toilets and showers throughout the campsite.
We were very impressed and happy to be there. So so close to the beach. We could hear the waves crashing from our spot, just beautiful. A short walk into town with loads of cafes and shops.
We would definitely book again, sometime soon :-)
H.We camped here in our tent for 3 nights and enjoyed it a lot. The only reason we came here was because our 2 dogs were allowed to join us. We will be back. It is always good to find campgrounds accepting dogs. The campground and facilities are clean and the staff makes you feel welcome. We recommend this campground to others. Close to the beach and shops. Oh yes, and we had a super deal. Pay for two nights and get the 3’rd for free.
N.Quirky old school beach camp ground with lots of permanent caravans....lots of character. The touring sites are straight forward, not particularly special but fine.
Showers a dollar but lots of hot water, big and clean. Laundry good, huge washing machines and 1$ in the dryer gets the load done. Easy access to lovely beach, which is dog friendly. Good place to stop over off season, probably full on during the peak.
G.Our second home....needs some maintenance, but can't beat the location...voted best NZ beach in NZ Heralds top 10. Update....sold to a developer...currently still open for campers....not for much longer.
R.Very considerate hosts, during an unplanned extended stay, made camp facilities available during the day while I was waiting for my vehicle to be repaired, reduced price on cabin and even last night free, couldnt have asked for a better place to wait it out.

J.Nice place to stay, very polite and helpful stuff, clean and specious kitchen. Toilets were also clean just the thing that you have to pay for hot shower and then you realize the shower wasn’t hot at all. Haha
The WiFi didn’t work well as well. Reasonable price, so definitely would stay again.
T.The people that run this camp ground are really nice. Toilets and kitchen are very clean. Yes its has the 1970's building feel, but you are camping after all. Biggest thing we had to get our heads around is that I would say 85% of the sites have permanent caravans and little sheds attached to them so it feels a bit closed in. Good location to the beach and the shops. We stayed for 4 nights off peak and enjoyed our stay.
W.Great location! One block from downtown w/ good restaurants, and a few blocks from the beach that can be accessed from a wooden walkway. We got up early and ran down to the beach to watch the sunrise. It was amazing! Very nice beach. - Lots of permanent old, retro trailers; fun to look at. Clean bathrooms, but hot showers are coin operated.
N.Great spot. Very tired looking. Ablution facilities where getting a paint job. Couldn't get over how many permanent old caravans with solid awnings attached took up most the camp. Is nice and handy to town. Our motorhomes fitted on the sites well.
K.Great location but facilities are very run down. The couch in our cabin was dirty and old (had to buy a sheet to out on it so we could sit) and the chairs at the front were broken. Loved the location but didn't feel that we had good value for our $$$.

S.This camp is in a good position for the beach and the town. There are a lot of permanents at this camp which definitely seems to affect how it is maintained, and also the vibe of the camp.
The camp feels run down - fences broken, pot holes in access ways to sites. The toilet block is basic with paint peeling off walls, rusty fixtures, cobwebs and one corner hand basin for about 8 toilets. Showers have no benches to put anything on, only hooks.
There were barking dogs in the adjoining property that started barking around 6.30am.
