J.Really enjoyed my PADI open water course with the team, Jack and Aaliyah were great instructors! They were patient and kind. Overall, it was a wonderful course to do because you are surrounded by experienced and fun people.
A.Felt very confident diving after I completed my course. Great fun and great staff. Only thing for me would be better communication but other than that highly recommended.
B.Had such a great experience at Dive HQ! Super friendly and helpful in store. Kalani was an amazing instructor on the Open Water Course! He was so supportive, funny and made me feel super comfortable !
E.Had a really great time on this dive course. Would recommend. It's a great way to potentially make new friends and learn a new skill. Was able to score a spot during a (mid winter) school holiday slot which meant we were able to knock out our PADI certification in four consecutive full on days. 2 at the pool and 2 up in Mathesons Bay. No issues about the cold really.
Make sure you ask if Kalani is running the course. He's a patient and good teacher and gives clear and calm instructions (especially when its all underwater) - would definitely recommend learning with him.
I know of other places that offer training where all of the gear and equipment is provided for you during the course. Unfortunately you'll have to bring or purchase your own dive fins, mask, snorkel and boots (gloves optional) for this one, so is important to consider any potential extra costs involved when booking in advance.
S.Would recommend for their Open Water dive course. The shop also sells/rents underwater gear. Massive props to Kalani and James for teaching us, and making everyone feel safe and confident with our diving skills! Big up yourselves!
The course only had 6 students with 2 instructors (one in training), which makes you feel well looked after underwater.
Wish the shop would organise local dive trips. :)
O.Just did my Open Water PADI dive course through Dive HQ. Our instructor was Kalani and he taught us everything we needed to know to to dive in a very easy and precise way. Definitely recommend doing your dive course here!
M.Great scuba beginner programme would definitely recommend if wanting to start trying out diving.
Shout out to Kalani for making sure the programme was fun, safe, and informative. I feel pretty confident in being able to dive now :)
A.Had the best time doing my Open Water with Dive HQ. Kalani and Ollie were out instructors, Tailo was our dive master - and they were awesome. Made the experience a lot of fun while at the same time being very professional. Highly recommend going to these fine people if you want to learn to dive!
E.Kalani is a super good diving instructor. I didn't learn well at the beginning, but he taught me patiently and finally I got the certificate successfully. I am looking forward to the next stage of study. If you want to take the PADI, don't miss it here!!!!

Highly recommend these guys they are fun, friendly and safe and I feel confident to embark on my next dive adventure.

W.Dive HQ is a great place to get PADI certified. They have a lot of experience and everyone working there is an avid diver. There was a lot of material in the course but they manage to keep it fun and engaging. Mike who runs the shop was extremely understanding of my circumstances as a traveler and got me into a course last minute. With a little luck, a spot opened up for the open water dive and I was able to get certified. Without his help, I don't know when I would have gotten introduced to this amazing sport. Can't wait to continue my journey into this whole new world!

J.Life transforming experience to say the least! The last 9 months going through the Instructor Development Course with DiveHQ has been such an amazing experience for me. From zero experience to 134 dives just in a few months. But it’s not just about the number of dives, it’s the 💯 percent life transformation that scuba diving has done for me. The skills, knowledge & experience I have gained, the people that I am meeting, not to mention the fears I overcame, are all so invaluable. I enjoyed the mental, physical & psychological challenges. My appreciation for my overall well-being has increased exponentially as well as my love for the ocean & the environment. These gains are not only useful to diving but in many other aspects of life & everyday living.
I am grateful to DiveHQ, my Mentors & Instructors Chris Hailey & Will Miller for their expertise, guidance, hard work & patience. You learn right and your learn well with their way of training. They are thorough & comprehensive which is how I like to learn. With commitment & dedication, it’s hard not to succeed as they work with you every step of the way. My values align with theirs which is doing your best at everything you do. They certainly push you to be your best and I am thankful for that. I have never been so excited to go to “school” like I have been with DiveHQ. Everyday is exciting and there’s never a dull moment with the squad.

C.I cant recommend Dive HQ Westhaven any higher. All the staff there are passionate in what they do. From advice, equipment and teaching. I would thoroughly recommend anybody thinking of either beginning their scuba journey or enhancing their skills with further scuba education to come and see the team.
I am currently studying the dioloma in Professional Scuba instruction. Mikes advice prior to the course (both via phone and in person) left no stone unturned and I knew exactly what I needed to know before making the decision to begin my course. Myself coming from knowing nothing about diving, having Mike making the time to ensure I was looked after made everything so much easier as this is different than a 'class room only' course.
So if you want not only advice on what gear is right for your requirements, but to begin your scuba journey with the courses available, then the Dive HQ Westhaven team are the team you should see.
These guys have and are opening up an entire new world that us truly amazing.
