S.Gordon Harris in Albany was up to today my art supply shop, sadly today I have experienced how those who decided not to be vaccinated feel. I walked into the shop without a mask as I have an exemption, the shop manager asked me in front of other customers about the mask, when I said I have an exemption, I was asked to provide a proof of vaccination not of the exemption… I thought it was inappropriate and saw no reason to make such a fuss especially due to the fact that everyone else had fun their masks on. Weren’t we told that those who have been “ fully “ vaccinated are safe? I felt humiliated and wouldn’t recommend anyone to go through this experience.
P.It's one of these shops where you go in with a plan, and come out with more than you wanted because of all the amazing stuff they have. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The pricing is on the higher side and it's worth waiting for a sale if you don't urgently need it.
H.I have ordered a few things from Gordon Harris recently, with lockdown meaning more time in the weekends to get creative. I have been so impressed with their service - upon online orders, I have been notified the next day that they are ready to collect. On arrival, they have been excellent in operating under level 3 health requirement and a safe pick-up process that makes me feel at ease. And, I am very happy with my purchases. Thank you to the team for working so hard in such a funky time, it doesn't go unnoticed.
H.Some visits can be awesome, others not so much... depends which staff are on, as some can seem pretty disinterested. Great range of products that are priced pretty well and almost always find what I want (and more)! Prefer customer experience at the one in the city, but the range of in stock items is usually bigger here.
A.I had been wanting to purchase a new easel for a long time and had been in there 3 to 4 months prior but timing wasnt right... They were so helpful on both occasions and I was very happy having seen it set up before purchasing. I am looking forward to my next shopping spree as they have everything an artist could possibly be looking for with a well laid out shop. I can't speak highly enough of them!
S.This place has a character all of it's own. The owner decorated the ceiling with posters, magazine ads, and other printed material in the 1970s, so the ceiling is a bit of a time capsule. The menu here is more limited than other restaurants on the island, this being due to the shortages of staff. That said, they have kept their fish platter meal, a two level assemblage of muscles, scallops, fish, salt and pepper squid, and other treats, making it well worth a visit. Environment was slightly two warm, as only cooling inside is ceiling fans, but then if you've come to Raro for the heat then this shouldn't be an issue. They also have garden dining, but wear some mozzie repellent if you are visiting in the wet season and wishing to dine outside. Waitress was very friendly and happy to chat, so all in all a very pleasant evening.

G.Basically has all the main art + a small section of stationary supplies that you need including COPIC alcohol markers and Tombow Brush Pens. Here you can get canvases, paints eg spray, pens & brushes, watercolour and gauche. You can also get notebooks of blank, dotted, grid and lined from different types, quality and brand. You can also get cheaper stationary like Fabre Castell and Staedlter. Items are a little pricy compared to online stores like Aliexpress. Staff are friendly and went out of their way to find the item I needed. This store has all the basics like you’d except but wouldn’t have everything like MUJI, Whitelines and Zebra (the international brands in America and Japan). I like how they have a student discount of 15% making us students wanting to buy more items and shop here more often.

M.Top quality art supplies available for the serious artist, but also have lots of arts and crafts items that are affordable. There are some fancy pens too, for anyone with a stationery fetish! Staff were knowledgeable, eager to help and friendly.

M.If you are an artist it's dangerous to enter this store, you'll want to buy everything! They have it all from pens to paper to vinyl to clay, fixatives and varnishes along with great personalities and awesome advice. I love this shop and I should not be allowed back... at least until next payday!
S.It is great to have a place that caters to the creative arts. There is a large selection of art supplies as well as books and other amenities. You should be able to find what you need. If not they can order it for you straight away. They are experienced at what they do and have a great supply chain.

N.I went to the Newmarket store on Sunday and a young girl Kelly helped me with trying to sort some stamping and colouring in issues I was having. Nothing was too much trouble and they gave me paper, pencils, solvents and water colour markers all to try with the young girl without hesitation. We solved the problem.....user error in some cases on my part, and new knowledge from Kelly also helped. Hence I spent a wee bit you could say. I have come home happy as and trying the new techniques out with much better success. Definitely going back here. Great service . Thanks Kelly and staff

J.This Gordon Harris isn't as good as the Albany Gordon Harris as there is less range of goods available. Due to the fact there is less space for stock in the shop and it seems darker. The staff are helpful and there is a good variety of art supplies

T.Gordon Harris is the place to go for all Artist's Architect's and bookbinders supplies. There really aren't many paper and craft work material suppliers in Auckland and their Symonds Street branch is handy for University students too.
