Excellent store. My Samoyed went there for the dog grooming service in his younger days. Now I take my husky and puppy there for DIY Doggy washes. Also lots of great products available to purchase to help keep them in great condition. Also perfect for puppy products.

Best staff of any of the Animates in Christchurch. Always friendly, happy to talk and give good recommendations about what is the best for your animal. Just wish the cat towers were a realistic price.

Such a cool place, I take my dog in there to get washed sometimes and shes a bit of a bundy so my husband and I do it together but last time I went I was by myself and poh (my dog) was barking all over the place but the staff calmed her down and gave her free treats before, during and after her wash! Thanks for the care yous showed I can tell that you guys really love animals and I really appreciate the patience you showed my dog and me ALSO just a side point they sometimes have discount food for dogs when they are close to their use by date and they are a sweet deal!

Went for a groom for my wee mate Sam, my miniature Schnauzer. He loved it because he came out looking good and was also in great spirits which was not always the case at our last groomers.

Staff are very friendly and helpful however when I came into the store today for something there was an overwhelming smell of perfume around the store it was far too strong and set off some severe asthma for me and forced me to leave the store without what I went there for. I hope that you can rectify this as soon as possible for other asthmatics and the fur babies with a far superior sense of smell than us humans.

Best service ever - we loved shopping here for our pups starting necessities. The assistance was absolutely so much appreciated as we did not really know where to start, but are so comfortable now and can't wait for our puppy!!!!

Really friendly staff who are lovely with my slightly timid dog. Dog wash facility is always clean and works really well for my dog. Never had to queue - costs $10 or $100 unlimited. Highly recommend a visit :)

Mixed feelings here. Scottish guy super helpful when I go in and deserves 5 stars but rest of his team seem put off when I ask for help. On a cat biscuit that they recommended but it's never in stock which I get happens but when I ask the younger ones when they going to get more in they're vague and don't bother to find out more info for me. Scottish guy would have rung round stores/checked when the getting more in etc. P. S He might be Irish. Apologies if I'm wrong.

Great store, great people. I took my giant rabbit to try on some harnesses as he'd grown out of his baby harness. The staff were so cute, he loves making friends and got so many head scratches and cuddles. Sarah was super awesome and ran back and forth getting different sizes and styles and we found one that is absolutely perfect. I'm really glad we were able to come in and have him try them on to find the right fit. Thanks heaps guys!

My favourite Animates. I find staff are the most helpful here, always willing to help out and make sure you've got everything you need. Always a treat to bring the dog along, him + the staff love it. 10/10 recommend this store

I took my pet dog Bella to give her a nice bath/ shower. Staff are very helpful. The equipments were ingood working order and very easy to use. Will take her again and will also take my other dog Spencer for a nice bath/ shower soon.

First sales person I asked for help there , knew less then I did . He gave me the wrong information and I had to correct him ..second sales man I spoke to seemed a bit for informative, but still was a bit wrong .. I think they should get some good training to be able to give accourite advice.

Seems like a nice place but when you're standing at the counter waiting for staff to come serve you, and another person walks up and gets served first, it really annoys me. I would ask ,"Who's first?" I always say "This lady was here before me"

Animates is a great place for all your pet needs. They have a wide variety of stock optionsbfrom golden fish to golden retrievers. The dog wash and dry station is great for cleaning your pup without making a mess in your house. From what I've seen they no longer sell dogs and cats, but refer you to the SPCA for a rescue - which is great. The prices are quite high and I have found that shopping online can be much cheaper but for a quick visit Animates is great.

Very helpful happy staff . Great selection. But not happy about the turtles for sale. They shouldn't be encouraging that. Not happy about birds either as to many idiots get a lone single bird and stuff it in a tiny cage .It's not a life !

Great place and all the staff are so friendly and helpful. I find that every time I leave that place I have learnt a new things. Also everything is nice and clean. No dirty pens where the animals stay and fish tanks are immaculate

On the weekend in store we had an incident with another dog owner that resulted in our dog having to have stitches. The other owner unfortunately showed no sympathy and took off. Animates Linwood however, have been wonderful! The staff on the day were very kind and helpful during the ordeal, I believe they were called Shani, Shoni and another lady who wasn't actually working that day but happened to be there. Follow up from the managers Geoff and Justin was also lovely, very sympathetic and understanding. Animates even offered to cover our vet bill so we couldn't be more thankful for them and how they handled this situation. Big thank you to everyone!!

They seem to always have birds and fish, which are fun to visit. Sometimes they have bunnies too - so cute. They also have a grooming station which has had dogs in it being groomed every time I've visited
