First time there . Just arrived in the area . Been to 23 Animates since we left the Naki for 12mths on the road . Just cannot fault Animates , the one in Taupo unfortunately does not have a dog wash , and 1 out of the 3 in Tauranga also does not have a dog wash .

Staff are great and great range of products. I also love that they no longer have animals in glass door boxes now which is alot more ethical for the animals quality of life. Only down side is I think they should have a question counter because you can be waiting awhile at the till to be serviced while you wait for people to ask questions about what's best for their pet. Which is fine but as i was waiting over 5mins to be served with a growing line behind me, a question desk would be smart rather than having lines at the till while NOBODY is actually able to make their purchase. Besides that the staff are grand lovely people

I forget how expensive their product range is, it's very extensive and has pretty much everything you would need for a let but ...the same products at other shops are cheaper 🙂

Outstanding contactless service here during L4 ! I ordered online while sitting in the carpark on my way home from work. Was a few minutes from closing time so I rang to check when it would be ready, explaining I lived 60km from ChCh and not sure when I'd be back in to town... And really needed this specific brand/type for pups 🙂 (changing diet can cause stomach upsets in youngsters). They checked but it hadn't come through.. so I left. Was about 5 mins down the road when the lovely young girl rang to say the order had come through. Not only was this after their official closing time but they stayed even later to give me a chance to go back and collect it ! Awesome Customer Service - really appreciated the effort. Excellent !! Thank you so much. Smiled all the way home 🥰

I love animates a bit too much, I love the discounts you get with frequent feeder 15% off if you buy pet food frequently, then I got a free dog wash on my account another time. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable, my pupper loves the attention. Animates Papanui is nice and large with a good layout. Parking at the front and rear its great!

Staff are amazing and welcoming alot of shops are missing that. Prices lean to the high side not much low cost options avail. Have only brough dog food and treats. Store layout is simple and easy to find what your after.

Friendly, happy staff, who always carry a heavy bucket to the car for me. The shop is well set out with every thing imaginable for pets. They have a grooming service and car park at the door and of course pets are welcome in the shop.

Their dog groomers are absolutely fantastic, cannot recommend the grooming enough.

Great big new looking shop. Had 20% off dog food so we were happy. We got to be entertained by watching a woman wash her great Dane in the diy dog wash. Quality experience.

Super friendly staff member (I think his name was Rupert) had a good chat about fish and tanks. Overall he made the shopping experience really fun and easy.

Good variety of pet goods! A little sad to see the removal of live animals from the store. As a bird owner, parrot toy variety is limited. Plenty of variety for dog and cat owners! Staff are very helpful and knowledgable about their products.

This is our regular go-to for all our home aquarium needs. Extremely knowledgeable team to guide us and answer all our queries and questions. Top it up with excellent customer service with a smile and that's the reason we frequent this branch and haven't got a need to go anywhere else. Convenient car parks on premise as Papanui Road gets really busy and tricky for road side parking.

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to help find anything you need and make great recommendations from experience. The DIY dog wash is a great service but is really messy so be sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet! If you'd prefer not to get wet, their in house groomers are fantastic and affordable, plus you can book them online.

Great customer service here 👏 always a buzz taking the puppy in for a cuddle with all the team too.

Everytime we go here to buy something they have dead fish. I guess that area is completely unattended or they don't really care too much about the poor condition of their pets. Disappointing.

Best animal store in Christchurch. Worth it when they have some special discounts, for example 20% on animal food. They have all you need for your pet, also DIY wash and opened 7 days! The staff is always friendly.

We have bought the $99 annual dog wash pass. With this beauty you can wash your dog weekly, monthly or even daily. It's valid at Animates throughout NZ. Staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. And we can buy frozen K9 here.

All good for equipment and one of the few places to get live food. Would not buy livestock from there tho and don't like the fact that they sell cross bred puppies at pure bred prices

Was great. Went for cat adoption views but too many people and cats looked frightened so left. Didnt want to wait in queue to find out they all gone.

The awesome staff held onto their last container of flies for me while I drove in from the rangiora store so I could feed my poor hungry frogs over on the west coast. Shame there was only one in stock in the whole of Christchurch lol

Animates Papanui are always extremely helpful. I do find some of their products way more expensive than other places I buy from, so shop around.

This place covers everything you could wish for, in regards to pet care, health, feeding, grooming etc. There's not much parking as it's on the main road but your fur-babies will love you for visiting Animates!

My daughter is allergic to the cat. Animates is the closest store that carries the purina brand that has the allergen reducing cat food. Almost two weeks on the new cat food and its is working!!! When I originally went to Animates the staff were friendly and knowledgeable on my issue with the cat. So I left happy and will return 🙂

Ayla was absolutely amazing. My friend was looking for a car harness for her fur baby and Ayla was on hand to share a wealth of knowledge, she spent a lot of time fitting harnesses to check the size was appropriate and put forward suggestions based on latest research/crash test info enabling my friend to make an informed decision.
