Went there to check crafting supplies. They are located on the 1st floor of the building and you can get there using the lift or walking up the stairs. The store is big and has a lot of variety. Staff was friendly. I would suggest organizing the cashiers better or have more signs around the store, it was confusing to find staff or cashiers to pay when needed.

I had 3 different staff members assisting me. One of them drew an inside map given me directions to find the item I was looking for. All three were kind and helpful and knew where items in the store was at. That made my shopping quick and easy, no time wasted because I needed to be somewhere else.

I was very impressed with the offer, layout and variety. Asked for help because I was short with time and got it so mission accomplished within the time frame! Will def be back!

Not bad not bad.... Very nice if you like tailoring or good curtains. There are also many deals at the moment. Definitely worth to get some bargains. Recommend

Where do I begin! I loooooooove this place. I want so much in this store, the list is endless and always growing. And now they have Afterpay. Unfortunately online only but let’s hope they extend it to in store too. Lordy then I will be in trouble😆 I have one complaint and it’s not a stock issue, I hate to moan but a good persentage of the staff could do better with their customer relations but the awesome staff that still puts in the effort are what keeps me coming back.

The staff were very friendly and helpful when using the self service machines as I don't have a physical card. The store was clean, tidy and well stocked.

Love this place. Friendly, helpful staff, and many and varied quality products. I could spend a good hour browsing the fabric section alone! They also do good sales.

Always a great place to shop, they usually have everything that you require. It is a fascinating place to wander around in.

The place has a little bit of everything, from hobby supplies to bedding and kitchen goods. . .always a good assortment of seasonal supplies, too. . .and ample storeside parking.

Spotlight is the go to place for home and crafts. Can be a bit pricey, but staff are friendly and knowledgeable and a lot of different assortments to help create a great home.

Really great staff who take the time to help you out when you know nothing about curtains. Regular large sales always help too. Ample parking and a massive floorspace.

New store is nice and much better than the old store but the parking set up is ridiculous and not suitable for the number of customers. You can use the upstairs parking on the adjacent building but it's not meant for Spotlight customers so clearly points out they did not plan properly. They should've utilised both floors and made the building smaller so could fit more parking as there is not enough for spotlight, let alone a 2nd store which occupies the lower floor.

Got some lovely bedding, cross stitch supplies, yarn for knitting (10x wool for $40 :o), fairy lights and a woven storage basket. Everything we wanted!

Went to this store today and staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend Spotlight to everyone. I got awesome bargains on sale too.

I found a bit pricey on alot of stuff. They had a great variety of sewing things but there was a lot of things I could not get. Good service

Great place to shop for alsorts of decorating requirements. They have a great Christmas selection in there now too.

New store on Moorhouse Ave. Great space and open feel. Up several flights of stairs (or lift) at the back of new premises. Interesting they didn't take the front. Car park shared with Harvey Norman so interesting to see if enough parks. Last minute visit near close on opening night and helpful staff.

My wife loves Spotlight all the materials and fabric, so much to offer. We try make time to visit when shopping in Christchurch.

Good supply of stock, sadly with new store there is barely any room to move let alone covid distancing..

Perfect place to go for all craft related needs

Didn't get everything we wanted but this is one of the few times. Parking can be a bit of a hassle when the place is busy

Favorite place for craft work. Stock was running low and they were out of a couple of things, unfortunately.

Love this store, I go here all the time, they have a great selection of fabrics and all things crafty. The staff are lovely, sometimes can be a bit grumpy, but cant we all. Overall a great place.

On the whole a good experience. I have found that some of the products are'nt where you might expect them to be in the craft dept, there's a corner at the bottom left of the store that seems to house some of the things that didn't appear to fit elsewhere. So if all else fails check that corner. The staff are friendly and helpful.if you ask for help though.

The new shop has a much better layout than the last one. Bigger range of fabrics and easier to access with the shelving system. I have found the staff really helpful and usually not a long wait to be served. Weekends are more busy and there can be a bit of a wait then. There is a wider range of organic and textiles made from recycled fibres which is good to see.

For the store being the size it is I thought some things would be cheaper but did find a lot of good quality

First time coming here there was a sale! Bonus!! Staff were very friendly and helpful and not to mention the fabrics are absolutely gorgeous! They sell a whole lot more than fabric too, a really awesome one stop shop for party supplies etc. It's a 5 ⭐ from me!

A true wonderland of all things crafty. Well set out and the place to go for new ideas. I think it is the best place to go for fabrics. They also have home linens and decorating ideas and these are at good prices and are often on sale. Also an extensive area for dress - ups for children, face paints etc. It is a large area full of ideas so allow heaps of time to peruse and dream.

The range of craft products is extensive. Their furnishings is just massive. And they have a huge variety of fabrics. You may want to spend some time in here to see what there is to tinker with. It is a crafters and sewing persons dream. Great place

This place offers very wide range of fabrics in a great quality, sewing patterns and other craft materials. There are several counters around the store so you don't have to wait in a long queue. Very nice and helpful staff always happy to help you find what you need for your project. Also offers online shop and VIP club. Very handy website.

Spotlight is full of excellent products and bargains especially in the bedroom/sheets, bathroom/towels and all sorts of other linen items. There's lots of things other than linen there too, but I can never make my way to those.

The only spotlight in Christchurch. They were mostly out of stock whwn we came due to rush hour and holiday season.

Great range of products, carpark can be a bit full.

Clean and tidy store, however I prefer the old store. The layout of the store forces you to walk around the whole store which isn't good for people with disabilities (the person I was with). You can't just grab what you need and take a short cut through the aisles to get to the checkout. Plus it's actually level 2 of the building, and they built the worlds slowest lift for the building

To exit the building was a bottleneck. We had purchased our goods at another checkout instore. To exit we had to que at the self checkout. Made a little more complex with 2m restrictions.

I bought 20 helium balloons for an anniversary today, thank you to the team that was at party & events station Lilly & (i’m sorry i didn’t get your college’s name that helped you) you both did a fantastic job with my last minute order and going that extra mile to make the ribbons standout & beautiful. Also the best prize in town for helium balloons $1.40 with variety of balloons from as little as $0.50c. A lot cheaper than look sharp. Thank You

Quite a decent range of stuff. If you know spotlight you'll know they have a pretty wide range of items so it's pretty hard to categorize it but mostly crafts and fabrics and that sort of stuff. All if which can be found at an awesome price.

Huge range of craft bits and bobs - you could spend hours (and lots of $$) here! Good prices. New layout is a little hard to navigate, I found myself going round and round looking for a couple of the things I wanted, but staff were helpful when I found someone to ask. They have a nice big lift or a winding staircase with glass walls to enter.

Great variety of stock and specials. Second floor location takes out one star.

This was our first visit to the new store and it's certainly far more spacious and lighter than the previous one. Rain on the roof is deafening though but there's not a lot anyone would be able to do about that The store layout is clean and with clear signage throughout. Sarah on the cashier desk was helpful, charming and cheerful, so obviously a great asset. We left satisfied with our entire experience there.

Never seem to be on top of their stock (even before COVID) and staff are not very friendly in helping you find what you need. You feel like you annoy them every time you try to find something that has not been stocked up in months. The interior decor section is presented very nicely and has some gorgeous items for an affordable price.

Such a treasure trove!!! Be prepared to take longer than 'just a few minutes' !

Awesome place. Just moved into new home/city, needing cutains/blinds and had no luck at several shops. Called in Spotlight this morning and the amazing Karen sorted us out with everything we needed. She even missed her break but did not make us feel rushed. Great customer service and stock, we will be back.😊

Has wheelchair access via lift as it is situated on the second floor. Staff were friendly and helpful, clean and well stocked with great sales. Coherent layout of store with well placed signage. Not sure if bathrooms were available. Lollies and little snacks can be found here.

A shop with just about everything in the way of linen, curtains, and dressmaking requirements. On this last visit we had good service, but it can be patchy at times, so pick your time carefully. Pretty good prices

Brought a hand held sewing machine $21 it works perfect best product I've used easy machine to move while sewing my materials and I can carry machine with me in my bag where ever I go . If anyone does sewing go buy this product u will love it

I've been to the new store a few times now and I'm just not feeling the love. The new store is laid out in such a way that you are forced to make a long tour around you can't just pop from area to area. Its like Ikea but without the fun factor. There's lots of stuff in there, but it doesn't feel appealing or exciting. And it is very impersonal. Beginning with no windows (wheres the natural light) and a long walk around the store. Finishing with a horrible maze of displays to the checkout and finally an exit. No tapestry stuff! Hardly any knitting gear either.

Found what I was looking for when no one else had it and at a good price.

TL;DR: Pretty good store overall, and imo the crafting version of "The Warehouse": not super cheap but cheap enough, and not great quality but good enough for most needs due to its decent range, which is usually sufficient... and this store does have awesome staff who go the extra mile to help customers. More detailed points: - There is plenty of parking and space in the store/parking lot, and central location is good. -Air conditioning is effective (it has to be said, as not all stores are!) - Opening hours are pretty decent, and they have later closing on Thursday/Friday when it closes at 7:30pm which is great for people who work full time hours - It has a wide range of different kinds of items but not many varieties of items within each area. This range isn't great for what I was seeking (high quality wool or silk/bamboo yarns, 100% wool, linen fabrics, quality notions like pins, 100% cotton threads), as a lot of the stuff they sell is kind of overpriced, junky-quality (in my opinion). - This is just a general Spotlight thing (not specific to this particular store) but we are clearly paying more in NZ than the Australian market as the prices on products clearly show a disparity. - Some things are VERY overpriced (costumes, rugs, knitting notations/wool, furnishings) but conversely sale items are very well priced and with decent reductions (a generous 30 - 60% as a general minimum) - In terms of range/category diversity I'd rank it slightly higher than Lincraft (in terms of usefulness to me/quality of items & what products are made of), but lower in the actual quality of what items are made of. It's also got a wider range of product categories when compared to competitors such as Briscoes, Bed, Bath, The Warehouse, etc, even if there isn't a particularly good range within each different sort of product category. - That said, this kind of store has a place & purpose, and in some things the range is fairly good (fabrics, kitchen supplies, curtains, outside decor). If you are looking for low-to-middling quality items such as bolt ends, large cakes of acrylic yarn and fake plants, this place is perfect. - A notable highlight of this particular Moorehouse Ave store is that the staff are (consistently in numerous visits) very friendly and helpful, despite it also being clearly a very busy/stressful retail store (always many customers, no matter what time of day. Staff are attentive and know their stuff, which is always refreshing.

Towels were labelled cotton...but were polyester! We paid over $300 for new towels, got them home and washed them to discover they were NOT the cotton that they were labelled! I did the burn test and conformed it. Took them back expecting a ruckus, but the staff were suspiciously ok about exchanging. Not to say I don't appreciate the good service from Karen at the counter and Narisha (Narinda?) who was a department manager. Both very lovely and very helpful. However it's a MCA and Fair Trading Act issue that they are selling mislabeled (and probably flammable) product.

Spotlight offers everything the sewer craftsperson everything in one shop. Ready made curtains housewares bedding also available with large variety on offer. Problem in getting shop and collect especially with patterns which iin turn makes it more expensive with delivery.

My go to for all sewing, craft and knitting needs

A wide range of sewing and craft products. Helpful friendly staff. But I *wish* they didn't have packs of lollies by the checkout. A mark off for that.

I enjoyed the store, I visited at the end of the day, a few people which have me the opportunity to explore the aisles without rushing. I found the products I needed. Assistance is hard to come by though. Not giving 4 stars for a narrow range of colors for three items I was looking for.

Staff are hard to find if you need help. Good wide selection but very expensive. Car parking can be a right pain.

Huge, as all Spotlights are. Plenty of sewing, arts & crafts, cooking, and household supplies. I'm here often. My only negative is that it can be difficult to find specific items because the selection is so large.

New building is fantastic!!! The layout is amazing and the store is easy to navigate around. The selection is beyond amazing and the home decor is so on trend and priced ridiculously well! Good store and something different. It would ideal for someone who like sewing clothes and likes craft or something that you want create. I have seen some of the stuff here which I haven't seen anywhere else.

Just don't go there if you enjoy doing crafts, they don't sell time and one lifetime isn't enough to try everything that is available. You could just exercise self control. I had to.

Not always the most friendly or helpful staff. The narrow aisles make large trolleys a nightmare.

Great selection of wool and fabric and certainly well priced. In fact they have loads if goodies for crafters and it's well set out. Best time to go is early in the morning as parking is better.

I visited while we were in Covid level 2. I was very pleased with their plans to keep their customers safe. The staff were very helpful with my query. The checkout staff were also doing a wonderful job in trying circumstances.

I got dragged around there buy the wife went into get some blinds and struggled to get her out of there then she wanted to look at the wool then the chair covers then let's look at the cheap sewing machines. Men don't go in there stay at home or go to Harvard Norman's and get her to text you when she's done

Danger zone. Loose yourself in all your crafting dreams. Always busy and staff are over run but never fail to be super helpful and passionate about all the options.

Massive store having everything you could imagine a store like this having.

Massive store multistorey, wide ranging selection of household stuff to choose from. Just to name a few, bedding needs, clothing materials, baking needs and so much more. Disabled and pram access, parking and lift available. Spacious and conveniently located on Morehouse Ave with ample parking.

This is a great chain store providing home decorating materials and service. We went in to look for curtains and whilst we could quite find a staff member that was free to help us (it was super busy) we found our way eventually. they've got a huge arts and crafts section upstairs which is good for any artwork or children's school projects you might be doing at home. Everything seemed reasonably priced too.

I left an outdoor mat at the counter after paying for it. Came back a few hours later (after remembering) and they still had it there for me. I am extremely grateful for that.

Love the new refurbished building... Makes shopping easier here and there's so much to look at, the only down fall is to exit the place you have to go in line with shoppers waiting to purchase their bargains which creates congestion... A definite design fault here...

Great new big warehouse-type store, it is easily accessible despite it all being upstairs... there is a lift at the front. Parking is outside, the parks are very close together to utilise the available space maybe. We preferred finding a park on Moorhouse Ave. A huge improvement on the old store, love shopping here!!

I very much enjoyed Spotlight Christchurch - much better range of fabrics than any of the spotlight stores I frequent in Auckland! Very jealous. All the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful.

Great selection of fabrics and other bits n bobs. Also they tend to have great deal on sales items as well. Some staff can be rude and awkward but I haven’t been there for couple of years so that may have changed. Get a great deal on discounted items, but don’t expect a smile from the staff. It’s close to cafes and other retailers, heaps of carparks available.

It has a very good range of various products. Plenty of yarn with a good variety such as 100% wool to acrylic, and other craft products to choose from upstairs. Downstairs had plenty of cloth, items for your home such as linen and cushions, sewing machines and other sewing type items.

We got exactly what we wanted at Spotlight after going to The Warehouse, Bed Bath and Table, Bed Bath and Beyond, Kmart and Briscoes.

Easy parking.staff available to help and a simple lift if the stairs are a little challenging. The shop is well designed for shoppers but beware, sweets in abundance in the checkout isles.

Wheather your arty or crafty, or looking at partying. If you want material for anything , bedcoverings galour, linen to drool over, buttons and cottons, needles and pins, pots and pans, knives and forks, cups and saucers, cushions and throws. Phew , you need to go and have a look, spend a while just strolling, you'll be surprised what you'll see. Xmas is coming and its a one stop shop. HAVE FUN.

Staff usually helpful, shopping experience pretty good. Avoid weekends if you can. No toilets nearby means your shopping time is cut short.

I only went to the wool department upstairs, so don't know about the rest of the store. The staircase is very old and grubby, but what an Aladdin's Cave awaits at the top! The best selection of knitting needles I have ever seen, with every size available. A massive selection of yarns of all types and the usual special prices.

I was looking for a particular item wanted by my friend. The staff member who helped me try to find it was endlessly patient and made some brilliant suggestions.

You can get almost everything here, kitchen, bathroom and livingroom items. Manchester, curtains & tracks, blinds and rugs. Fabrics and haberdashery and crafts galore. Great prices and great staff. Love this place, looking forward to the new store on Moorhouse!!

One of the biggest spotlights I've seen, they appeared to have everything. The staff were helpful until the checkout, we waited over 10min while 3 staff just stood around talking

It's super busy on the weekends so you have to track down staff to help you find the fabric you're after. The choice is a bit overwhelming and messy. It would be nice if they put clear signage on the fabric tables for the different types of fabric

RaA good all round store that sells home type products like sewing machines (which I noticed were reasonable in price),curtains and blinds,bathroom accessories,sheets,pillows and almost everything that is required inside the home.Upstairs is an area that caters for the arts and crafts and party supplies ... good for all ages.This shop i would recommend as a first stop before heading off to others around town.Was busy when we were there,but that just transmits very popular ... its located in a well set up small mall with several coffee locations etc and a central courtyard for resting your feet whilst sipping on a cappuccino.New shops appear to be getting ready for trading ..

No decent air conditioning. No clear signage. I wish they had a computer system where I could look up what I wanted and be told which I aisle to go instead of going Forest Gump styles and run all around the store.

Great shop for everything crafts related. Helpful staff. Bit tired and old fashioned looking around the edges, and the odd one out in the flash Colombo mall. Parking is a chronic problem at the Colombo who is expanding their shops but not the parking lot.

Went to spotlight for curtains and the staff woman was called Karen she treated me so very well if the store has some kind of reward program I would nominate her.or put her forward for promotion.its been a very long time since I was as well looked after by a shop assistant.

Hit and miss with this store. Sometimes the staff are good and helpful. But more often than not they are either all busy or just not overly helpful. They have some good sales sometimes. But often there prices are fairly average.

I like this shop as it has such an array of fabrics. Well priced. As well as home ware and hobby supplies. The Colombo mall where it is situated is unlike other centres. Good cafe food and different shopping.

Purchased S-Fold curtains and sheers. Returned sheers due to quality issues. Happily replaced. Happy with how curtains and sheers look once up.

Spotlight has EVERYTHING!!! from blinds to party supplies! I bought everything from spotlight for my son's birthday and it looked amazing. They also have a loyalty program, so the more you spend you get money off your next purchase.

One of two go to places for anything crafty in ChCh, tends to be the cheaper and has a better range, quite addictive to shop there for yarn or fabric or anything else from glue to paint or other bits and bobs.

Having driven around town trying to buy towels, Spotlight was the only store that had the colour combination and price I was happy to pay. Although the price at the till did not match the price on the sticker. Impulse buy of pillows as well - elsewhere 20$ up - memory foam at spotlight 10$ - bargain. Plenty of parking.

The end of line material is fantastic in value here for those smaller projects and a great place to find the best selection of Yankee Candles in New Zealand. They smell so delicious.

Ive been to both spotlights and this one is by far superior the staff are lovely and its nicely lit, they had everything i needed and much much more.

Wonderful range of fabrics and haberdashery. However not enough assistants on the fabric counters. Management should look at this as many times customers become frustrated and leave.

I visited spotlight to buy Cake baking stuffs. Pan,foil...etc It was way expensive. May be good for professional bakers who willing to bake daily. But it was not worth for home use. I head back to KMart.

This is the worst spotlight building I've ever been in. Stocks the usual things so no issues with products. But I never feel safe in the building. I always get what I need as fast as possible and get out!

We buy bed and table linen, sewing supplies and the occasional rug etc. Generally find what we are looking for.

The new store is very large but unfortunately in the material section the line for the counter goes down the aisles of fabric making it hard to select fabrics if you are purchasing from the aisles bear the counter

Busy as. Parking is near full on a Wednesday lunchtime. Spotlight us the anchor tenant. All your hone knitting and Manchester needs. Lots if craft stuff for under 7's, especially girls. Most of the other shops are home decorating accessories such as IKEA decorations, trade aid shop. A boutique clothing shop and brand name shoe shop. Good variety of food stalls from hot dogs, sushi, fresh sandwiches, natural fruit juices, just coffee, and two sitdown cafes. Sort of like the Tannery with a bigger food selection. Check it out!

I've been going to spotlight in Wellington for years and they always asked if I had a membership card, I would say no, and they would carry on. First time in the Christchurch branch and same conversation. Except, I am now a member!

A lot of the staff here are quite snobby and if they do talk to you they are blunt. A good selection of craft goods etc but the customer service is a let down.
