An amazing space and view out to a beautiful garden. The staff were very friendly. The taste testing stations were an awesome addition. Hoping to add a few more photos of the food you can get at the cafe as all our dishes were delicious! Definitely need to stop by again when back in the South Island.

Our family stopped in for breakfast during a busy period but the food was prompt and service was good. Apart from poached eggs being hard boiled every thing was delicious! Great to check out and sample the barkers products in the shop too. Will definitely come back

One of the best coffees I've had in a long time great food and the cakes well I want to try them all, the staff are running arround serving and tidying getting the job done great services, the shop at the front is stocked with all Barkers delicious sweet and savoury goods, the free drink tasting in the corner is genius.

Such a cool place! All the cafe food looks incredible and tasted amazing. They have a to-die-for self service condiment station with all their amazing sauces n chutneys etc. The shop is great too, we loved taste testing the cordials and spread products. A must do if you are in the area.

Consistently excellent food and drinks every time we visit. We love the pickle/relish/jam bar and drinks zone, great touch. The service is a little slow and often we are waiting a long time to be seated or served at the table or the counter during busy times. Staff often walking past us without making eye contact or asking if we need help. Something to work on.

A great selection of there famous sauces and chutneys at a reasonable price range. The cafe is very nice and clean and the food is made using some of their own products. Tha staff are very welcoming and friendly.

The pie here was incredible. I loved the fact you could sample and choose your condiments. It also meant that you could try things you may life to buy. It's not quite as cosy as I thought it could be and a bit of a commercial atmosphere. I would still recommend but not for those who couldn't get anything from the cabinet because they were Gluten Free.

A must visit when traveling near the area. Lovely products and its good you can taste before you buy. Trying out the cordials with sparkling water is awesome as I have a soda stream at home and love to use their mixes which ate more natural. I love the pickles, relishes and bulk products.

Really nice (New building) place to go for lunch and sample their juices & chutney's at the same time with your meal. Shop has a fantastic range of products to choose from which is not too expensive including gift box's as well. Received the New Yorker Mustard Relish and Roasted vegetable chutney in a Christmas gift from work. Absolutely loved them. Companies producing this quality of product are a credit to this country and its produce.

A bit small, for what I heard about it, I really expected something bigger, but nice one anyway. There are free examples of jam and juice and you can order your food and have a rest on the tables in the backyard, very nice in a lovely sunny day. Very nice vibe and makes you want to try some new food. On the other hand, as con, I can say say that, however jams and juices are fresh and very nice, I can not go beyond "nice" or "interesting" flavors, I didn't really come across anything remarkable. I mean, after trying basically anything I could have tried in this place, I still believe the jam I made last week with Fruttapec was better... I don't know... for how nice this place is, still lack of something remarkable which makes me feel like coming back. Anyway, nice for a break when you are on the road for sure. Recommend

Was alright we thought we would order everything when first arrived, so the knew ahead what we wanted but they brought the everything out at at once. Flys and wasps were keen on the pudding before we even started. They never came back and asked if everything was fine or anything. Never even got a complementary cold water.Just felt like they wanted your money and then wanted you out quick smart to get the next ones in. A bit lackluster if you ask me

Lovely place to stop and pick up gifts and goodies! Food is fine, staff are nice but i have noticed over a few visits that the service tends to be lacking (cabinet food being forgotten, food lukewarm, no milk came with tea and waitress never returned with it when she said she would food came served with an empty jug where milk was supposed to be).

When we walked in to this great atmosphere and we also bought some of there awesome produce. Sat down to a nice meal and one of the best pies I ha e ever tasted in NZ. Barkers have such a wide range of food that will suit the whole family. Even though the town of Geraldine is on a boil water notice at the moment after the flooding the staff were so happy to get us some bottled water. We love the sauce/dressing display and how you can try all different sauces and dressings with your food. Definitely one of our favourite places to visit in Geraldine.

The staff were incredibly friendly and on point with their timings of asking for drinks and meals etcetera. The food was delicious and reasonable prices. Along with the fantastic setting, there is a large collection of sauces, jams, and drink mixers for purchase. Lastly, having the counter food on the menu is always handy.

Awesome shop, large range. I love how you can self-serve to try all the concentrate drinks - so many! Cafe was unexpectedly fantastic. I like how they tell you which of their chutneys/sauces are in the dish, and there are a bunch of others you can self-serve to add too. 100% recommend the vegan tacos. Super delicious and so filling. Vegan Rocky Road is a must buy too. Yum!

Covid challenged and unclear direction from staff for cafe service. For the price paid for lunch for 2 we expected not to wait for nearly 35 minutes in a not that busy lunch service. Staff were blaze' and didnt ask how our meals were. When we asked for cutlery it arrived unwrapped and dirty. The Korean Salad was very tasty but the Brisket Burger overwhelmed by the amount of jam smothered on it. The shop service on the way out was friendly & helpful making up for the poor cafe service.

Ordered a large green salad. Salad came out without dressing. Had to ask for dressing. We also had to ask for cutlery. When dressing arrived it was a small bottle with about a tablespoon amount left in the bottom of the bottle. The bloke who brought me the dressing had to wait for me to finish dressing my salad because he had to take the now empty bottle back to the dressing station, or the kitchen or wherever the dressing came from. I understand that some cafes can have systems in place for customers to help themselves to condiments. But in level 2 where every business is operating under a certain set of rules it would have been nice to have their system explained to us as we were seated. Staff were lovely but in dire need of training.

I was looking forward to checking out this flash new addition to Geraldine, and it's a lovely spot indeed. You can sit at the back verandah and enjoy the rhododendron dell, very peaceful. Service was good, but my coffee was terrible, tasted of chemicals, very bitter so didn't drink it. There's a huge selection of delicious Barkers products, a tasting area AND a big range complimentary condiments which is a cool idea.

Yeah NAH. It's kind of pristine. All glass and plastic. Food is not great. I had a pork belly pie. Very hard dry crust, 5 tiny pieces of pork belly and three of them were just pork fat and virtually no gravy or juices. My friends had frittata and it was dry and tasteless. The staff are great and the stars are for them. Very strict rules around covid and ordering. Won't be going back.

So much to love about this place! They have free sampling of soda and their homemade syrup. The shop also sells homemade sauce and jam in glass jars, and there is a restaurant area as well. Friendly service and spacious place, plenty of parking available.

Dishes left on tables not cleared quickly enough, may down to inexperienced staff. This was a pleasant surprise hiding down the back of a carpark on the main road. Love the selection of Barkers! Food was excellent as was the coffee. The condiment table was a highlight, especially for someone who loves their condiments!!

Nice spot, but your multi-buy special needs to be advertised clearer. We took lots of items to the front counter only to be told a number of things weren’t included. For example, the jelly, or the smaller size meal sauces. Ironically we had to trade these “up” for a more expensive bottle to be included in the multi buy deals. It was just really messy and awkward and a number of people in our group all said the same thing. Unsurprisingly the girl on the counter wasn’t overly apologetic.

Lot of options to taste before you buy. They have a condiments refill station. If you order food you can try as many condiments as you want. There is a soda syrup tasting station which has option of both still and sparkling water. We came for a quick visit and ended up staying for an hour. :)

I don't normally give a rating like this for a slick masd market cafe...but this place is different. It's obviously designed for the tourist buses - which don't exist in this time of covid. If you aren't familiar with the Barkers brand, for years they have marketed jams and juices, and expanded into other related products. And as you go into the Eatery, you walk through the shop before getting to the cafe. Friendly staff, nice food (a little to expensive for my liking, especially in Geraldine), and reasonable options. And on a Saturday morning, we sat and listened to a relaxed couple in the corner singing really old, but vaguely familiar songs. A nice way to spend time, and obviously others were doing the same. Worthwhile dropping in and trying for yourself

Went there today for lunch, it was hectic! The food all looked amazing so we stayed. The staff were wonderful, they clear on how long the food could take (30mins) they were all friendly even though they could have not engaged at all with how busy it was. There was a small mistake with our food, which was noticed before it even made it to our table!! The staff let us know what happened and were apologetic about the delay. Then they went over and above with our food, their communication and every aspect of our experience. The food was really great as well!! We couldn’t have been happier with the whole thing 😊 We will eat there again when we pass through, because of this great experience. Thank you!!

In our house, Barkers is the number one choice for juices and condiments so we had to visit. So glad we did. The building itself is wonderful: sun filled, roomy and airy. The staff are super friendly and passionate about the Barkers products. Our morning tea did not disappoint...the custard square: OMG!!

Stopped for lunch at Barker good selection of hot and cold food on offer. The food store sell Barker products which I haven't seen in the supermarket. As well as products sold in the supermarket. Customers service is good and seating indoor and outdoor.

Absolutely loved this place. It was a delight to taste all the sauces, jams, chutneys and so much more before picking them. The displays are so temptingly arranged that you are tempted to pick a jar of each to take back home. I liked the idea of having all the chutneys and relishes at the condiments station to taste and enjoy and definitely pick up a bottle to take home. We also enjoyed the coffee and the breakfast here. All fresh and well seasoned. A must stop in Geraldine !

This place has a big reputation, and a lack of decent signage. Despite the lack of big lettered signage we found it because of Google maps & the full carpark! The interior of the high ceilinged shop is white and there are lots of big windows so it appears large and airy. To help you choose there are samples available to taste most of the preserves - just look for the tasting place as it's not easily visible. The syrups can be tasted too in a separate area and that spot is easy to find. The food being sold in the café looked lovely, and was fairly predictable fare for a café. Lovely place to stop for a bite to eat with a wonderful view outside of greenery

I would give this six stars if I could. Barkers food products are some of NZs best and I only wish we could get more of thier range where we live. In store specials at good prices and you have a wide range of items to sample as well as a cafe if you want more.

Platter and coffee great but service disappointing, others arriving after us had their cooked meals served before we had been given water or had our order taken. When our order did finally come we had to request cutlery and go and get our own serviettes.

Loved stopping here. It was my first time and the staff were very friendly. I tried around 6 condiments and bought 2. The station for trying out their cordials is also awesome as you can choose between still or soda water. The range of products is extensive. Funniest thing is they had every other condiment but tomato sauce to go with fries. The lady got us some aioli instead which was awesome. Keep up the good service and kindness.

Fantastic options and worked with us for a restrictive diet requirement. Had the lamb burger and very much enjoyed it. Love Barkers!!!! Always my 'go to' at the supermarket. Love that they are NZ!!!!! This time around I went the their online store and WOW - what a great range. I found product, that I havent noticed in the supermarket so brought online. Last night we had the coconut curry. Divine. Cant wait to use the other products too. Purchased Monday and order was here Wednesday. A huge shout out to you. I will be recommending you to all I know.

Enjoyed a great meal of vegan soft shell tacos here. Very tasty and a lovely atmosphere in a wonderful spot. Unfortunately we arrived too late for the breakfast menu, which had 4 vegan options, whereas lunch only had one - the tacos (only one of the salads was vegan, but there was a great-looking vegan rocky road slice in the cabinet). We did enquire as to whether we could have the smashed avo on toast (from the breakfast menu) since options were so limited for lunch, but they were not prepared to do that, which was a shame. Given how easy it would be to offer some bread/toast (including GF, which is on the breakfast menu) with some topping options (was keen to try some of the many lovely jams) this was a bit of a let down. Also would have been nice to have had more than one option for a vegan salad, and maybe the soup of the day. We also had to wait 25 minutes for our food to arrive which was a bit frustrating. As well as the tacos we ordered the vegan side salad but it was very basic (lettuce, cucumber, tomato, onion and cabbage) and very small. Barkers prides itself on exploiting every niche market but I don’t think they’ve really got to grips with vegan and gluten free. Hope they consider increasing these options, especially in terms of lunch, as we would have stayed longer and spent much more. 3 stars as the tacos were delicious and the venue lovely, but too limited for vegan options and the wait was a bit beyond what we’d expect for a quick lunch pit stop.

I have only been twice, and both times the food was perfect, but the iced esperesso and iced drinks range were bland and rather tasteless. Even when I had 4 shots of coffee put into an iced chocolate. I can't say anything about a standard hot coffee (or hot drink), as I have only had the iced drinks. But I have been a barista for four years, and I like a good strong coffee, so I was kind of let down by the drinks I had in my overall experience. Otherwise, everything else was fine. My barista sister and I have watched your barista make standard hot coffees, and they do look really good and seem to be frothed very well. And we didnt hear the screech of the milk being burnt, so I do believe you have an excellent barista. I hope the added details have helped you understand 😊

You see Barkers products in supermarkets around the country but only here, at this site, can you sample just about every one of their delicious jams and relishes and cordials and... and... and... We left with their passionfruit curd and chipotle sauce but wanted to take so much more home with us. I particularly rate the decision to reduce added sugar (particularly to their jams) in favour of pear juice as a natural sweetener. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend popping in for a visit. Don't take your wallet! ...or do ;)
