This place is located outside the quaint little village of Matakana. Morris & James has a team of skilled potters and painters that produce the most vibrant pots, planters, plates, and more. The history of this place is rich, and the artistry is top-notch. We were sad to see the cafe closed at three, but we met one of the owners, and she was delightful, we will visit again for a cuppa.

Hadn't been for many years, much quieter this time with the Cafe closed. Beautiful pots of all shapes & sizes, nice to see a few new colourways. The discounted area had some lovely items too, with minor imperfections

Great information/ factory tour. Seeing the pot be shaped in minutes was awesome. Getting to understand the whole process from clay extraction thru to final glazing gives you a full appreciation of the work involved in the final pieces of art/ work. Nice cafe too

This place is very cool. It has a cafe, seating and even offers tours. It is a top of the range brand but there is a large range of prices. They have everything from birdhouses to seagulls to mirrors to pots and wall hangings. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

Love this place. The pots are amazing, staff are helpful and they wrap the pots for you very well at no extra charge.Well done Morris & James and thank you! Unfortunately can't say the same for the cafe. Nice table & chairs outside to sit. Food is not bad but staff are not so helpful and knowledgeable about what is in their food. A simple question about what's in the salad or croissant will be meet with a blank face and a I don't know!

Driven past here alot, finally stopped in & it's definitely worth a look. A big gallery with a huge variety of pottery, plates, bowls etc for sale. You can even do a class here & make your own bowl! There's also a cafe on site.

However the day we went, it was obvious that new staff we being trained on the till, and this however resulted in us not being acknowledged at all for a very long time while we just had to wait. It would have at least been nicer for the supervisor to first acknowledge us.

Stopped off here on the way back from Leigh. There were 12 of us and we had informed them when we were to arrive, but there was not a lot in cabinet to pick from. We did have a nice outside setting and the food was good. The shop with the Pottery was lovely with beautiful pieces which several of us purchased.

This place is a must to visit if you're up this way or going to the Matakana markets. Even if you don't purchase anything, it is a delight to walk through and see the beautiful pots, bowls, garden ceramics, tiles etc. They also have a beautiful cafe to sit in while you enjoy the ambience of a beautifully paved Italian style courtyard and take time out from your journey. The facilities are clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful. We purchased one of the pots and was very pleased to have their expertise over the dish vs ceramic feet underneath. The ceramic feet look gorgeous, were cheaper and allow the water to drain freely.

Great place. Whether looking for pottery or enjoying a coffee at the cafe. The cafe is well sited around the pottery goldfish pond. There is a good indoor outdoor flow creating ambiance. The cafe has covered areas and indoor tables for all year round dining.

Long way to drive out of Auckland for a coffee, but if you have a Sunday afternoon looking for something to do then it is a pleasant activity to visit the cafe and wonder round the studio and shop. Pots range in price from around $40 for a small one to over $600 for large ones. Beautiful glazes and patterns make these exceptional items. If you have the whole day, continue your journey to the coast, where I would recommend Anchor Bay, or visit the old Warkworth Cement Works where you can take a swim in the flooded old quarry, or just wonder around the shops in Matakana.

Lovely place, well worth a visit.. lovely entranceway, seating area lovely, neat play area for the kiddo's. Direct access to the lovely pottery shop from the seating / play area so if you've got curious littlie's I'd be wary of that. Coffee and cafe food was ok. The pottery is gorgeous, can find a gift from $40 - $50 up and the tour was interesting.. could spend a good couple of hours there easily, and spend some money too. Something a little different to do. Uneven (but flat) ground all over the place so watch your older folk, especially with walkers and canes etc :) Will be visiting again and telling friends and family, it's a lovely outing :)

The location and pottery factory was fantastic. The cafe is a really pleasant spot but the food isn't quite as good as it could be. The pizza was doughy and soggy. The salad was bland with little dressing. I had a pecan pie, which came out heated on a sweltering hot day even though I hadn't asked for it to be. It also came without any cream or yoghurt.

Huge variety of pots for your garden and a cafe onsite. Lots of designs to choose from and the seconds were well prices. Could even bring the dog in while shopping .
