I've been drinking kava for 12 years. NZ Kava Society is easily the best vendor I've found in that time; Pacific Elixir is the most consistent blend I've come across and the single origins are all well selected. Being in NZ makes it a lot easier, but even if I lived outside NZ I'd probably buy from them.

I was a "newbie" to kava, but had wanted to try it. I did some research and decided to buy from The Kava Society. Great customer service and I have enjoyed trying the various kavas on offer. It is an acquired taste, but I have to say that the experience is wonderful. i have just ordered some more, a single variety cultivar that I haven't tried yet. I really enjoy the process of making up the Kava from the powder.

Without doubt the best kava in New Zealand and beyond. I've been drinking kava for close to 7 years and tried more than 20 cultivars from all growing regions and all major brands (plus countless no-brand powders sold throughout New Zealand). Their products are on a whole different level. Absolutely *outstanding* quality and potency.
The kava is really clean, carefully processed and fresh, and the cultivars they use are superb. In particular I greatly enjoy their Palarasul single cultivar kava and their Pacific Elixir Blend. Both are very relaxing, with Palarasul being a bit more euphoric/reinvigorating and Pacific Elixir being slightly more calming, muscle-relaxing and dreamy.
The owners/operators are nice, helpful and very knowledgeable. From what I understand, they are all university lecturers and researchers who have researched kava for years.
This is honestly the best kava money can buy. While it may seem to be a bit more expensive than some of the no-brand options, the quality and potency is so much better that you end up using less powder and have a far better experience, so it's definitely worth it. I just wish I had discovered them earlier.

Excellent kava and dependable service.
I am a big fan of kava. It's one of the few health-improving herbs that you can actually feel and a fantastic alternative to alcohol (with almost no negative effects other than occasional dry skin). Kava induces a unique state of "lucid relaxation" in which one remains both alert and yet physically relaxed and peaceful. It feels almost like a good, healing massage and it's very enjoyable. Beyond its relaxing effects, kava is also known for its medicinal effects, mainly its anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety qualities. The only downside is the unpleasant taste, but that's nothing that can't be washed away with a sip of juice.
Over the years I've tried kava from many, many sources, both online and offline and the Kava Society has by far the best kava on the market. Their kava is not just clean and potent, but they also choose the right cultivars to produce kava blends with the best effects and relatively "soft" taste. While it may seem that their kava is not the cheapest option, it is so strong, pure and good that it's honestly the best value for money kava in NZ.
What is also great about the guys at the Kava Society is that they are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about kava (including kava science, history, etc!) and that they are amazingly responsive and helpful. It's always a pleasure to deal with them.
In sum, fantastic kava and great people.

The most reliable, dependable, best quality source of noble kava in New Zealand, imho. Henry is an absolute pleasure to deal with, service is impeccable, prices are great and we refuse to go elsewhere. The quality of their kava is unmatched and we have tried a few sources in NZ. You MUST give 'The Kava Society' a go at least once and you won't be disappointed! We are happy campers or should I say, kav-ers 😉

By FAR the best kava in New Zealand.
I discovered kava a few years ago when I was looking for a natural way to gently relax during a stressful period of my life. Kava is just perfect for this purpose as it brings this peaceful calmness and muscular relaxation without clouding the mind. My thoughts are perfectly clear, but the whole "mental chatter" quiets down. It reminds me of the feeling i get after meditation or a long yoga session. I suppose this, and the fact that kava isn't addictive, is why many people consider it to be a superior alternative to alcohol or other substances.
The problem with kava is that quality is everything. Most kava products on the market are of very low quality which means they are either ineffective or actually harmful. Perhaps this is why so few kiwis actually drink it. I was fortunate that the first kava I got was brought to me by a friend of mine who knows a lot about the plant. It took me a while to figure out how to use it properly, but once I did I fell in love with it. But then when I tried buying kava in local dairies it was extremely disappointing. The dairy kava was cheap, but also quite nasty and had little effect beyond some numbness and a bit of drowsiness.
Fortunately, I found the Kava Society and tried their kava a few months ago. It's like day and night. Their kavas are wonderful. Not just much stronger than any other kavas I've tried, but also much more pleasant and enjoyable. Kava is kava, so it doesnt' taste great, but their stuff is still way easier to drink than any of the dairy kavas I've tried.

Tastes way better than other Kava I've tried and has a kind of smoother texture. The guys making it really know what they're talking about, as they've been at it for years. Can't go wrong with this one.
