B.Girls were very helpful with my Cats flea problem which she had never had before in her 9 years as is an inside cat until I visited my daughter in Porirua 😅
B.Animates are a franchise, so there will be similarities between all of them. That said, Animates Porirua seem to punch slightly above their weight.
They seem to stock a more diverse range than some other their bigger siblings, in spite of the logistics challenges most retailers are facing at the moment.
The staff are warm and clearly passionate about animals. They are also helpful without being overbearing or pushy.
You might not find every bit of specialised gear for your fur baby here, but there's a decent range of the basics.
A.I have been to this store a few times. I am always asked to the point of feeling interrogated about the fish in my fishtank etc. While I understand the questions is designed to give better advice, the last time I went to find something to manage the algae bloom in my 20L tank I was told it was due to the 10 guppies in the tank. The advice was to reduce the "stock" to 4 guppies, or buy a larger tank. I was not happy with the advice and did my own research, bought a small UV filter and ran it for one week. The algae bloom was sorted out 100% and the tank returned to normal. Animates does not stock these UV filters and the staff does not seem to know about their existence. Photos attached was taken about 8 days apart.

E.Lots of products for many different species of animals. Huge stores. Wide isles. Friendly staff. You can take your dog inside on a lead. They sometimes have free dog treats at the counter. You can get name tags engraved.
Prices are very very steep though. I think the staff are on commission.

K.Good prices on pet products here compared to competition stores in Porirua. Staff that I came across was only interested in selling me a massive fish tank for one little fish which I don't need. Good that they do care about pets well being but no consideration from customers are taken into account. I didn't end up buying a little gold fish for my little boy who was excited for it. One unhappy toddler! Great location for the store, parking available in front of the store and around the block.
L.Amazing customer service - friendly and very knowledgeable about products and info. Really tidy, well stocked shop and good location too. I felt quite confident about food and care for a new puppy we were bringing home after my first visit. Popped back in a few days later with my family and our new puppy and dealt with different staff and got the same quality service. Keep up the good work - this is now my go to place for dog food and products.
A.I went in to check out cat doors and quickly realised that they are more expensive than what i thought. A lady approached me and was really helpful, i didn't but a car door yet however i did end up purchasing cool toys. It was so enjoyable visit this animates today. The vet centre close to my house is no where near as helpful as these people, this is now the place for us to go

D.Love the pet wash. They also have a very cool engraving machine for recording your pets details on a disk for that hangs from the collar. Good range of foods, toys, beds and other pet supplies. Friendly helpful staff.
A.Good store but sadly never get served or asked if I need assistance when viewing fish etc or in general. Pet centre does and I love the Lower hutt store and kai one be nice if Poirua was the same.
