I haven’t had a bad experience here, went in a couple of times to browse and was asked if I needed help. When I was purchasing an item from the cosmetics section and needed assistance, one of the staff (a young lady at the counter, with blonde hair. I didn’t get her name) was super helpful and she even gave me some suggestions about where I can find an accessory to my purchase in other shops, writing the name of the item down for me on a piece of paper. I thought her customer service was excellent. I’m giving 4 stars only because I feel the design of the store and clothing selection is quite dated.

Customer service needssome training. The only staff member serving was away from the till, I approached the til to pay for my purchases, the staff member came to the til and said to me that she was serving someone else that wasn't at the time at the till she was still looking around the store. So I had to wait on the customer to finish looking around then come to the til to pay for her purchases til I got served. Not good at all, the person waiting at the checkout to be served should have priority over the person still looking around the store. Also, your hours stated online need to coincide with the actual hours of the store. Saturday 19th December online stated closing time 5.30pm, when we arrived at 4.55pm we were told that the store was closing in 5mins. Many confused customers left the store

I would just like to take the time to express how delighted I was with the service I received at H@J Smiths today. The young lady who served me was Brittany Dumbar and what a delightful young lady she was too. Nothing was a problem and her professionalism and general knowledge made the shopping experience all the more welcoming and quite simply fabulous. Thank you Brittany for being so amazingly attentive. My grandson was thrilled with his purchases as well. We will be back :)
