Reviews of Caffeinated Dragon Games
E.
Great selection of games to play and buy, good coffee and a cozy setting to relax and enjoy yourself; solo or with mates. Very helpful staff to her you going with any of the games and answer questions if you get stuck.
B.
Lovely little shop with practically everything you need for nerd-related activities. Wonderful customer service also.
S.
We went to the Caffeinated Dragon on Saturday after it was recommended by a friend and it exceeded expectation, by far.
The range of games they had for sale was incredible, and the games you could play were vast and exciting. It's really cost effective at $5 for a day of games and the hot drinks were delicious.
Raymond helped us pick two games based on our preferences (turns out we're more of a competitive couple, rather than cooperative) and time allocation - we played Kamaka & Gloom - both of which were so much fun. We can't wait to get back and discover more games.
5/5 for the experience, range of games, helpfulness of staff, location and atmosphere.
A.
Probably the best overall selection of gaming in town, just not so much on the tcg front.
M.
$5 fee per person to pop in and play any board or card games they have. My wife and I went on a Friday just after half 12 and we were the only ones there for over an hour, huge range of games. Menu was really good too!
L.
A perfect store for all your tabletop gaming needs. A pleasant environment with helpful professionals guiding you through the basics of most games they have in their library. A must go-to place for any boardgame fanatics.
I joined a Dungeons and Dragons group for the first time here and I'm hopelessly looking forward to each Friday where we continue our adventures.
J.
Good range of board games, not bad pricing for a little store.
No pressure on spending allot of time to go through stock without getting bothered by staff.
Will definitely browse and most likely leave with lighter wallet next time I'm in Wellington.
D.
We have been to a couple of games cafes before, but this is the best so far. Decent burgers, good range of craft beers, and of games. What made the difference though is the member of staff recommending games, wandering round and making sure everyone is comfortable with rules etc. She (Danielle I think) seemed familiar with a wide variety of games. Just as a games cafe should be.
J.
Games of every kind and coffee of every flavour. Its not many places you can sit down to play Pathfinder with a cup of something that tastes exactly like after dinner mints. The staff are helpful and friendly and super dedicated to making sure you go home with a game you know you're going to enjoy. And if they don't have what you're looking for, they'll get it. Spend a few hours playing games or pick up something to take home. You won't regret it.
S.
Great helpful staff and about the largest selection of games, dice and accessories in the cbd at the moment. They make a mean hot chocolate too :)
S.
Such a cute little shop.
Has a variety of tabletop game related products.
The shopkeeper is extremely friendly and welcoming.
Also, surprisingly... offers some exceptionally good coffee, along with a penchant for different flavoured hot drinks.
M.
Friendly staff who were more than willing to chat with me about a variety of games even though they knew I wasn't buying anything. Good boardgames library and a very fair deal for its use! If I lived in Wellington it would be my go to. Prices comparable to my home store and although more expensive than online shopping, you get a lot of great assistance and help. Highly recommended!
B.
Really good range of RPGs and manuals as well as masses of other board games. Lady was helpful and nice. There were a couple of pairs of RPers playing in the store, I would have liked to stay & try some games but next time.
D.
Great for board games. They have some card games such as MTG which is what we went in for. Best range of dice from all the "nerd" stores I've visited. Staff know their stuff and can relate.
B.
What an awesome store, loved the selection and variety as well.
M.
Super helpful staff! Heaps of games to choose from, good prices.🤩
M.
Based on successful overseas models CDG is a great place to entertain or engage the family / friends when it is too cold or wet to be outdoors. For $5 you can stay for the day with access to more than 150 board / card games (more if you are purchasing). You can take breaks to refuel / shop, all within walking distance and return to your games without having to pay again. If you need coffee its yours without leaving the premise.
CDG offers a break from everything virtual, a face-to-face bonding time for the team and last but not least, the proprietor is friendly, so what is there not to love? It is centrally located next to Office Max, opposite the old Wellington Library and is just minutes away from the Willis Street bus-stops (if you use the thoroughfare next to Unity Books / Office Max).
A.
Nice board game store and cafe. All the big games and a great selection of alternative RPGs available. Even big squishy fate dice!
B.
Great service. Good events. 10/10 would go again. They serve all manner of hot drinks and milk shakes here. Lots of cool hobby items to buy.
G.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff help out with boardgame selection. They also have mini's and tabletop roleplaying games, and have recently started stocking Magic the Gathering.
They also serve a humble but tasty coffee.
R.
