It's a pity to know they're gonna closing off the Wellington store by mid 2022, but have to say the staffs are quite friendly and they seemed got a lot more selection of brands and products than the Auckland store. Probably can find some good deals before the closure - my wife wants it stay!

Honestly pretty average range of clothes for the labels they carry, I think sometimes you're better to go to the individual stores themselves. Staff are nice, but if you don't give off the vibe that you're there to drop serious cash then the vibe from the staff can be pretty aloof. Online store weirdly feels quite cheap in terms of the design and CX.

I had a great experience today when I went in to exchange a jacket that was a size too small. A very helpful employee came up to me as I was looking around for where to go. She quickly went to check for a larger size, the jacket was no longer in stock. I was shown a few other similar options and explained that if I didn't want any of those I could either pick something else or just get a refund. Very helpful, explained my options, shown similar styled jackets and then left alone to decide what I wanted to do. No fuss, no hassle and all the help I needed. Brilliant service!

Went there to “kill time”, noticed all eyes were always on us at all times, which was fine, we had nothing to hide. The guys on the male department section did it more subtly and chatted with us in a fun manner which was nice. The cafe looked quite good, decently priced coffee, not sure about the taste as we didn’t try. Overall, nice clean place, with a lot more staff than customers.

The cafe is comfortable and not too loud. A good place to get off your feet while shopping, or to find a bit of peace in a busy City. Coffee is ok, and moderately priced for the middle of town. Friendly staff really bring the place up a notch though.

Last week my friends and I went to WOW.We spent a lot of time at the David Jones store ( and a lot of money) The staff and service was outstanding. We bought things that we couldn't take home on the plane and it was no trouble for the team to arrange the courier service. The lady in the homeware dept was especially nice and helpful. Everything arrived safely with no breakages. Also we had the treat of having a high tea on the 3rd September . We hadn't pre booked and it was getting late in the day but the staff made it possible with no fuss for the 8 of us to have a lovely high tea. Once again the staff were amazing especially the young friendly waitress that served us. Thank you. It is great to have such wonderful service and we will be back.

I love the lighting and it feels a lot less cluttered than Kirks. It's nice to see the luxury brands on offer. The leather bag section downstairs is pretty sparse though. It seems like they sell a bag and then having nothing to fill the vacant space left on the shelf. Also, I had hoped they would follow the Kirks tradition and have a beautiful Christmas shop. Oh well, never mind.

Love this place. It has such great range of apparel and beauty products. Plenty of staff to help you however be prepared to firmly say no if you don't want something. Some of the staff can really push those open ended questions on you, even when you don't actual want to buy

A five star review for a five star shop. Everything is clean and tidy and still very new. The restaurant and cloak rooms are modern and pleasant. Their sales are worth a visit and so are their cosmetic counters. However, in most cases, one needs a five star salary to shop here.

The ex- Kircaldies store. Pretty good range of stuff from several different suppliers. What I dislike is that the ground floor reeks of perfume. Not subtle. Everything is a bit crammed. Getting up and down the escalators requires a bit of walking and guesswork...like trying to find the gate lounges at an airport where the shops have taken over. The staff are nice, though.

Good service. Very good selection of brands, once you fought your way through the perfume section on the ground floor. The perfume fragrance in the air was like an impenetrable wall that will leave your head spinning and an irrational urge to claw your own nose off your face 😉

Excellent store that carries a great selection of brands including high end designer clothes and shoes etc etc. Lacking in Men’s,but the Women’s range is good. Given the small population of Wellington it’s great to have a store like this in town. Keep an eye out for sales / promotions.

This is a gorgeous store, with some brilliant brands which are usually hard to find (read impossible) in Wellington. Sales people on the whole provide a great service although a few can be a bit pushy. Oh! And there smoothies from the cafe are to die for!

For some reason I always feel out of place when I have come into this place. The David Jones in Sydney was very good and very friendly staff in there. The one in Wellington don’t want to help you at all.

A revamped department store with first class skin care and perfume counters. The upper floors are not the best served, and you can easily tell the difference between the skin care sales assistants who know their products, and the old crones upstairs who largely look down their noses on anyone that's not a late middle-age beige lady. Good café worth the stop if you're out with your mum.

Friendly and helpful staff. Amiable service. Nice ambiance and well managed floor area for browsing around. Nice and clean changing rooms are available. Good amount of amenities including a café. Maintained very well. There is no dedicated parking space for this store although lot of street parking can be found around. Wheelchair parking is available and there is wheelchair accessible entrance.

The new store on Lambton Quay is gorgeous! I've always received the best advice and service when I've shopped at DJ. The only reason I've reluctantly deducted a star is that I visited during non-peak hours a few times and waited a little long to be attended to... Otherwise first rate, with an amazing retail selection and lovely staff.

On the store, it’s a far cry from an Aussy David jones, but well lit. Staff generally can’t be bothered and just do the basics. Prices are premium. The cafe is ok, priced ok for coffee. Meals are a bit expensive but not to bad. Service again is fairly standard. For example ordered a boiled egg, cones in a cup where the egg is hidden in the cup waitress gave the usual is everything all right and when mentioned the egg the response is just ‘oh’ sorry. This is there regular they are just asking for the sack of it not as they actually want to address any issue. Egg was nice though so overall It’s a reasonable cafe

Went in to buy cutlery after a dreadful experience at The Table in Petone. Wish I'd have gone to David Jones first. Got top quality service by the Royal Dalton lady. Nothing was too much trouble. She steered us through every single collection and helped us to pick the sets that were just right for us. Very knowledgable (her husband is a chef). Great advice. Very friendly. A real pleasure to deal with.

Very pricey, staff a little snobby and keep to themselves. It is hard to find items. If you know what you are looking for cool, but otherwise not very helpful. Went to the cafe once and would not recommend.

Very glad to see they took over from Kirks. The store does feel younger. However as others have said the offering is similar to what you get on Lambton Quay. Would also like to see more NZ women's brands like Atemgirl, Verge etc. Doesn't seem to be any merino possum knitwear either. Early days yet I suppose.

There was no attendant I'm the area I was looking at the time, and an off-duty assistant from a different area of the store helped how she could, then got the attendant in charge to assist. Impressed that the staff still worked to help customers even if on a break.

It's a department store, Farmers or Smith and Caugheys with a different name. There's quite a bit which is far more unique out on the streets of Wellington. It'll get you out of the weather, but don't expect to find too much more if you're you're looking for a point of difference. I was a little disappointed after travelling from Auckland, it didn't live up to the hype.
