Reviews of Te Papa Store
Wow what an interesting store, so many great artist showcasing their work. So many original pieces of beautifully crafted items...that you could imagine being in your home, or being brought as a gift. Even had a interesting collection of books, which was a surprise. Natural perfumes, light shades, plenty of jewellery, art, massive NZ flag designed differently, children to adult clothing, the list goes on... Definitely a store that offers something for everyone, from babies clothes, young children toys and products, to older generation, and everyone in between. Easily spent over an hour browsing at all on offer. Very impressed, cheers 😍
Had to hold my wallet close to stop mad...buying.
Great gift shop and great selection. They had a wonderful selection of gift and souvenir items. Prices were reasonable and the service was friendly and quick. They even offer several hand made Maori artifacts for sale. You'll find lots of the standard gift items, but you'll also find much that is rare and unique. I really like this location.... near the wharf and near lots of restaurants and other shopping.
A whole range of quirky and intriguing gifts related to the exhibits. Find something to stretch the imagination, inform the mind or charm the heart. Pay it forward too.
Te Papa is awesome but.... the disabled toilets are shocking on all levels except for the toilets near the entrance. If you have a wheelchair or pram and you're on level 5 or 6 you have to head all the way back down to the entrance. Or leave pram and child outside toilets.
Really great to see definitely should stop by if your traveling! The Gallipoli exhibition was incredible and really well executed it was very well designed unlike the rest of the museum, I felt the overall museums needed some updating and modernising and a lot of it was under construction but it was still cool :)
I believe this is for the level 2 store.... ok.... nicer than the level 1 for sure, still selling items for kids only. It's alright
Love it ..... Man always a good place to go to look and relax. Good work team Te Papa....👌
Not sure quite what to say about the shop. It has lots of souvenirs and mementos, some nice clothing, knickknacks - mostly things I don't need or want. I did buy lovely Possum - Merino gloves, on the whole it's too expensive.
But the layout and displays are nice, and the staff are very friendly.
Stunning, recommend absolutely, furthermore it's free except wonderland for kids but after a few hours of visit, there is no regret not to visit this part.
Great selection of merchandise representing NZ craft and products.
Great place for kids and tours
Oct2021 a nice way to finish a museum visit for me is to stop here. This time I spoke to an attendant about Kete.
I browsed the store while waiting for my friend to arrive and I noticed many things that I would have liked to purchase if I had the money. Prices range from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars.
An excellent selection of books on a wide range of topics but in keeping with the Museum/Wellington/New Zealand history story.
Beautiful jewellery, snacks, stationery, unique quality gifts for all ages.
A staff member was helping someone find the right thing for their needs.
Really nice gift store, in our national museum.
Firstly, this museum is incredibly resourced with abundances of fun and areas to learn for both adults and children. However, my 5/5 rating is mainly thanks to a Team member who was working at the lovely museum gift store on 09/08/21 - Daniel. Daniel was so helpful to us when we mentioned our intentions to travel the South Island afterward, he went out of his way to provide us recommendations on where to visit during our travels. Daniel was also super helpful to my son with choosing what to purchase. Please pass on our special thanks and know that staff members like Daniel make a huge impact on creating a friendly, welcoming and memorable museum atmosphere. Thank you!
If you in Wellington The papa is a must see amazing stuff lived in New Zealand all my life so much to see and do it's an eye opener to our culture
Surrealist expo worth a look
Good quality art and kiwiana.
The Te Papa store is full of unique treasures across a range of prices. I would say that some of the more common kiwiana could be picked up elsewhere more cheaply. But if you are looking for some authentic pieces by skilled artists - Te Papa will deliver.
Jewellery and ceramics dominate but they are usually accompanied by textiles and glassware.
I'm always blown away by the craftsmanship and leave wishing that had more disposable income and had spent less of my money on flat whites and eggs benny.
Woohooo. The kind of store that makes you giddy. Local artists' goods and more. If you want a take home memory of Wellington and a break from exhibits, take a stroll through and admire.
Loved it. Ruebun exceptional, and Angela
Brilliant staff, very knowledgeable and most helpfull!
Found within the Museum of Te Papa in Wellington, the Te Papa Store has lots of cute items to buy. From toys, to books, to educational materials, it is a good place to fond items for the kids. The service was friendly and helpful.
plenty of great things there
A great spot for a buying frenzy.
Beautiful, interesting quality New Zealand themed products.
This whole experience absolutely deserves a 5 star rating.... and it is free!!! Seriously ridiculous.. so you can spend your NZ$ in the shop, because you will still have them in your pocket(book). Nice goodies to buy and as always helped by helpful staff.
A little pricey, but there are some unique items for sale.
Great exhibitions. Free entry for general areas. Great place for kids with interactive play spaces.
Fantastic museum experience, especially the WETA workshop war exhibition
Nice niknaks in store with lots of different things. Well presented on display.
Absolutely amazing so life like i think the last
TIME I saw anything like this was at madam
Tussarge in Uk 1958
Looked but didnt buy..Your usual shop of expected curios that would be attached to a museum
Fabulous museum bringing the history of New Zealand to life.. Well worth a visit by young and not so young. Very friendly staff to help with any questions you may have or any problems that might arise 👍👍👍👍
Very interesting and worth a visit.
One of the best things to do in Wellington is a visit to Te Papa, you could easily spend most of the day there! Great cafe and tea room upstairs next to Wonderland! Gallipoli and other exhibitions superb, most are free
A bit pricey but supports the museum so worth ist
Can you imagine a locket made of butterfly wings?! Yes! You read it right! I just stood there smiling at the bright blue butterfly wing locket with silver lining around it. Everything seemed just perfect after I saw it. There's just so many such beautiful things in the Te Papa store. I work there, so it's a lot easier for me to spend time watching the things stored there and the best part is to see the lovely people visiting the store 💕💕💕💕👍💯💯💯💯💜
Excellent cafe highly recommend. Great service as well as great good and coffee
Great variety of interesting things to bye but overpriced.

This store is adjoining to Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa service as a souvenir shop for the visitor.
Easily accessible from CBD and waterfront.
This store offers some interesting collections which are difficult to find at other places.
Fast service. Lovely ambiance.
Normally busy during morning hours.
Good place to visit with groups, family and kids.
Spacious parking area.
Wheelchair parking is available and there is wheelchair accessible entrance.
Our country, our culture, our history, our people. A place to stand and be proud.
This is a really nice museum. A must visit if you are in Wellington. It is situated right next to wharf. It has a great collection of New Zealand history, animals etc. The Gallipoli area is really interesting. Every item has a good commentary and explanation. There are some really interesting areas for children as well. You can keep your luggage at the entrance for a dollar. Interesting place to visit. The entry is free to the museum which is really great.
Ooooh, pricey! Aimed at overseas tourist trade.
Beautiful museum and a wonderful experience for children. What a great representation of NZ and all it is. Cafe could use a revamp but not uncommon at these venues.
This used to be our top favourite museum until the kids area on the 4th level was closed. That was such an amazing feature of Te Papa, and now it's gone.
Despite this, the museum is great. Entry is free, something not available in every city. Exhibitions are quite expensive though. Nice café on level 4, toilets in every level. Parking, either private or on the street is way too expensive. You might as well park somewhere else and walk. On weekends on-street parking is free but only for 2 hours, no option to pay for extra time.
The worst thing this place did was get rid of the golden days movie. However this place is good to go with friends from out of Wellington and it has some great exhibitions. I've been here so many times I know some film quotes of by heart.
As always a fascinating place to spend several hours when in Wellington . New exhibits complement permanent displays.
Quite nice store is to vist...reminders of Te papa....lovely present, not impressed covering a ribbon, or bow.
Always cool stuff to buy
Nice selection of gifts
Excellent store, wide range of retail from artwork to "kiwiana". Friendly and welcoming staff.
Awesome experience. Fantastic life like ANZAC display
Coffee was awesome yes you have to drink it in the gift shop but totally understand as no drinks aloud in te papa. Very friendly staff.. Spent way to much!!
Number one place I like to visit if I want to be wow'd by cool artifacts, art, homewares, jewelry, and gifts. this is not your typical museum gift shop. this place is amazing.
Lots of interesting stuff. Prices a bit steep. You pay for unique stuff though.
Te Papa store is where I go for decent New Zealand souvenirs. It's not as arty as it was but still great for non-embarrassing presents to visitors.
The Gallipoli exhibition was amazing. WETA Workshops incredibly detailed statues and figurines really brought the war to life for us. Would definitely recommend.
Very nice selection of New Zealand themed items but please update your website. I saw something on sale on the website (was originally worth 20 dollars but it got marked down to 10) however when I walked in the store, it was worth 15 dollars.
High prices. More for tourists than locals. Maori green stone carvings, New Zealand books, gifts, postcards, etc. Worth a visit if you are in Te Papa museum.
Loved the Anzac expo, very well detailed and full of amazing information
Nice choice of Maori children resources
Such a well curated store. Perfect place for gift shoping
Beautiful pieces in here
Great family fun
Awesome place to take the kids.
Nice little store near the entrance of Te Papa Museum. Good place to pick up some souvenirs / gift items unique to nz
I've never been here but it looks ok
Good range of gift items in store some reasonably priced some a bit more expensive due to the value of it's nature example greenstone items are very valuable so please make sure to browse around plenty to look at
Incredible staff, looking out for our reo and our future generations! Thank you and go well with growing your tamariki

Expensive and overly attentive staff.

Always a great range of books, jewellery, artworks and fabrics. Extensive collection of greenstone carved items
We had our company function here. Setting was great with lots of rooms. Service was great and the food was lovely. We had a great time.
Good selection of items only quickly browsed through so can't really comment on the prices or quality of goods.
Good, bit dearer but worth it for a cause and memory.
Good variety of items for sale on NZ or from kiwi artists
It was really awesome place to visit would definitely go back
Great place to visit on a rainy day, or any day if it's your first time in Wellington.
What a sad amazing story, well told and in such detail. Sadly only the dead have seen the end of war
Great museum, was gutted tho, that the terracotta solider display finished on Easter Monday, a day late
Can be a bit expensive but awesome thing to buy.
Very good viewing level 2and 3 excellent
Amazing collection of NZ themed gifts and lovely helpful staff.
Same great vibe as the museum wonderful and helpful staff with huge smiles !
