A.I took my first ever surf lesson with Surf Fevah in March. It was a great experience and an absolutely beautiful day. Definitely one of my best NZ memories and one of the best things I could have done shortly before the lockdown. Cargs was super helpful when I walked into his shop spontaneously and made sure we picked a day with good conditions. During the lesson he was very encouraging and made me feel really safe and confident all along. Probably one of the best places to learn surfing in NZ, I can absolutely recommend it!
A.My first surf experience was great and I would totally recommend surf fevah and Westport to all the other backpackers and tourists. Although we went surfing in the middle of winter, we had such a good time and enjoyed the sea for several hours. Carg was super fun to be with and thanks to him we caught a few waves and survived the "washing machine". If you want to have fun and learn something new, you should go there. We have been just a group of three and decided to try surfing spontaneously, no regrets!
J.Best Surf shop ever!! We decided to randomly stop into Westport and the owner of the shop totally made stoping in this town worth it! Was very helpful, told us where all the great safe surf spots were. We had an amazing day, the gear was awesome, affordable and customer service was even better! Would recommend to everyone :)
J.Craig is a very wellcoming guy offering great surf lessons for beginners and intermediates and rents out perfect boards. I can recommend to everyone to just pop by in his store at the main road! We had a great time ;)
B.Surf Fevah is a 100% local surf shop! Super friendly owners, super helpful, enthusiastic and motivated to share local knowledge and stories. We popped in the store almost 2 years ago for the first time and asked for spots to surf and conditions and straight forward we got all the useful information we needed. We’re still very thankful for that! Since then we visited the shop regularly and the range of clothing, accessories, shoes, boards etc. is super nice and well organized! Always great to have a chat too! You‘ll get want you need and of course you will find always more ;) Cargs took us surfing as well and explained us about the spots, very patient and with a lot of love for what he is doing. With Surf Fevah you feel the love for surfing and the culture which so often is missing in surf and skate shops nowadays. Thank you Annie and Brent for sharing your passion and experience! BTW - The new shop is just awesome!!

The owner was very friendly, gave us good tips on which beaches to go to and where the best waves were for us (beginners) it made our stay here at Westport very memorable! Definitely recommend it! Great beaches for surfing and no sandflies :)
J.First surf lesson today with co-owner Brent C. Absolute stunning winter morning with perfect learner waves 🌊 at Westport's Tip head. Brent was a great teacher, patient, gave lots of encouragement and gave us a very good grounding on how to read the waves and the basics . Definately reccomend taking a lesson with him if you're new to surfing. Check out the shop too. Lots of great winter and summer surf fashion and jewellery. Gem of a find in Westport.
A.Best surf lesson today!! If you’re thinking about surfing at Westport I can highly recommend Cargs! The groups are quite small (it was just me and my friend) so he takes a lot of time to help you improve yourself individually. Thank you so much for this awesome day, Cargs! :)
T.Randomly stopped in Westport on our way down the coast and are so glad we did! Carg was one of the friendliest kiwis we have met and we are very pleased we stopped in his shop. The board/suit rentals were very reasonably priced and he spent a ton of time giving us details about the area, especially where to surf if you’re a beginner like myself. He truly makes you feel welcomed. We will always think back on our experience in Westport with a smile thanks to Carg
L.My sister and me rented boards and wetsuits and Cargs, the owner gave us loads of helpful information about where to surf, what to keep in mind etc. It was amazing that he took so much time for us, even if we didn't book a lesson or anything! The shop itself has some cool clothes and equipment as well! Would highly recommend and go again anytime!
S.My cousin and I chanced on Cargs (Cogs/Cags?!)surf shop last November and so glad we did. He was super friendly and helpful and got us down to their surf comp the next day where he was able to give us a lesson and get us into the water. Great to hang out with the surf community and watch them while we learnt in the white water. Had an awesome day. And remember 'don't be gentle it's only a rental' (jokes....)
K.I just had the first and best surf lesson that I could ever have :-D just called spontaneus and had such a nice telephone talk and half an hour later,I stood on the board and got a super surf crash course (I didn't have the time for a full course as my baby daughter needed me). No big groups, just us in a familiar atmosphere, plenty of helpful tipps and helping hands to catch the right wave in the right way at the right time. I am so happy and thankful that I found you guys by chance! If we wouldn't have to keep on traveling today we'd stay longer in westport and meet some more waves! Good luck for your legs, your daughters competition and greetz to your wife! It was a pleasure :-D
M.We were heading to Picton to get a ferry and fortunately saw the shop on Campermate so we decided to make a little excursion to the little town Westport. Although it's a little town we stayed there for a week and it was awesome. We went to the surfshop and had a look around until we got into a little conversation with Carg (the owner). Seeking for a good opportunity to go surfing for the first time and zero knowledgement we ask Carg and went surfing the next day for six hours till we can't move our arms anymore. That was exactly what we were searching for. Decent price, good boards and wetsuits for the whole day, great training and a teacher, who not only knows his sport but also loves to work with people from all over the world :D

C.Hired a board, the owner gave me a lift down to the beach, as well as tips on where the best spot was to surf. Solid dude, super friendly, highly reccomend. Great surf too.
D.The staff were really friendly and helpful. Got a wetsuit and board for the full day for 40 bucks. The shop had some very nice surf clothes and some awesome longboards/slateboards as well. Would highly recommend!

M.Originally was meant to be passing through Westport but after a 10 minute conversation with Annie while browsing the store, I decided to stay in the town that night. Met Cargs and Annie the following morning and rented a board and wetsuit. What a sound bunch! Cargs imparted so much knowledge on the local surf and what he thought would suit me on the day. Genuinely nice people with a great family run business. For sure would be making the trip back to Westport if I ever make it back to beautiful Aotearoa again! Thanks guys!
J.Exactly what a surf shop is supposed to be. The owner hired us out some boards at a very reasonable rate, gave amazing instructions as to where to go and was very quick at assessing our separate abilities to pick out boards which would give us the best time. The shop itself is also very well stocked and can get things in stock very rapidly if you need something that they don't have.
L.Amazing first surfing experience with Carg, the owner of the shop. Very good at teaching, we were up on our board very quickly and really enjoyed our class. He also gave us a lot of freedom and confidence in what we were doing so we ended up catching waves all day after he was gone. I’ve just noticed the last comment on this page that put 2 stars and a nasty comment. I realised it was written by some guys we met yesterday. Very arrogant and impolite persons, no doubt it would be too much hard work to please you guys. Thank you Carg, keep up the good work ! 🤙🏼

Ich liebe diese Surf Schule! Spontane Absprache, kleine Gruppe, sehr hilfsbereit und die liebe zum surfen machen diese Schule einzigartig. Wir sind am Tauranga Bay gesurft. Ein traumhafter Strand mit schönen Wellen, für Anfänger wie mich, perfekt geeignet. Ich bedanke mich ganz herzlich für diese coole Erfahrung. Und kann es nur empfehlen für alle die es auch mal lernen wollen oder einfach coole Leute suchen.
