Reviews of Bush Inn Centre
A.
Having lived in Christchurch since 2018 I have seen the Bush Inn Centre change a lot. There used to be a 2nd countdown (while the one across the road was also in operation) which is now an open space with a few special food stores.
As there is a night food market in that space now, the space is really great for the community!
M.
Ok mall but more a place to get fast food or a midday and or evening meal. The carpark is normally very busy and quite awkward and you need to be quite careful to avoid other cars and people. The major banks are all there if one also ventures out down and across the roads. Lots of great Asian restaurants close by which is a plus and also a bottle store. The buses run close by which is an advantage. The supermarket is handy and there are rest rooms in the mall.
The advantage here is the food of good quality and lots of choice.
R.
Been to this mall on a number of occasions whilst visiting our son in Christchuch .
Has only a small variety of shops I have to say but unlike some other small local malls' the Bush Inn Centre Mall has a super clean and spotless look to it . A credit to the owners .
s.
Make sure you get a candyfloss from the pink caravan near the entrance of the Saturday market - kids can get a candyfloss on a flashing led glow stick too, which is really cool. And they have a tv monitor by the counter - watch your floss being made on the spot!
H.
It was great. I haven't been over that way since the old Bush Inn. I did some Christmas shopping. It was well worth the visit.
G.
I go regularly to Bush Inn, even though it is not close to home, for a large selection of different types of food.
You are spoilt for choice.
It is sad that the mall has quite a few empty shops, when this is clearly a busy car park, for people buying a variety of food. 👍
T.
Love this place! A good variety of shops. Absolutely love the 1,2,3 shop or whatever it's called. Lots of bits and pieces that are cheap and handy.
G.
When a mail has so many empty shops it is a little depressing. Nothing for men, a few shops for women and there is a Lincraft. I look forward to when the Mall gets more tenants.
C.
Good eatery spots around there. Though not many people visit the mall
B.
A little rough around the edges. Toilets seemed hard to find. Hand sanitiser was also in short supply. It does have some interesting stores though.
E.
This mall is so weird, friendly shop owners everywhere I had to go into but it's just odd hardly anyone around and just a bit of a odd layout, does have some ok shops in there thou
M.
Great shopping centre, plenty of parking. Good airy layout and lots of stores.
S.
Nice mall but fairly empty of stores and public, a shame, maybe rents too high, count blame covid as its been like this for a long time, more of a take away mall now
H.
Slowly becoming bigger. Not as crowded as a mall but maybe one day after this pandemic it will be busy.
J.
It's coming along nicely when the new part is finished and is full of shops it'll be pretty awesome
G.
It's a good place to have some food with family.
V.
We love going there.. such a great place for a variety of food and items
D.
Growing slowly but there are many places one must visit like Spice Bazar, Tank, lincraft and many more.
E.
Good place for food 😋
any type of food till 10pm
T.
Fantastic Shopping centre Plus the Night Markets on Saturday evenings are amazing
P.
Another great location, with great variety of eateries & other outlets.
N.
Great experience, the stores and eateries aren't all the same standard places you find at every mall or shopping centre/hub in Christchurch. Bush Inn Centre offers some variety in a beautifully presented block of culture. All the storefronts are warm and inviting, staff are awesome. Has a semi high class feel to it, while still offering options for smaller budgets.
R.
Plenty of parking. . .nice assortment of shops and eateries.
N.
A smaller mall with a limited number of stores. Love some of them.
T.
The bushinn has blossomed like a flower its bigger and better car park was easy to find and shopping in the new Briscos was nice too being in the middle of so many little hotels I could imagine it being a life saver within walking distance keep getting bigger
S.
Clean,good parking,not busy,petersens jewellers are the best.👍☺️
G.
Most people come here for pizza or burger or coffee outside the mall. It cannot compete with the Westfield Riccarton a few minutes away, so the mall itself is kind of outdated. But you may find some deals here like a leather jacket or sports shoes. There's a newly constructed shopping area, but there isn't many shops opening which makes it kind of creapy... Most of the time you will see only a few customers lingering around. Recent night market on Friday night may be a plus. May worth a visit to try something exotic.
C.
I thought it looked amazing compared to how I remembered it. Great food locations and great ones opening up. Sad if it is emptying again
J.
The place looks like it’s shutting down. Well at least a number of the shops inside. Outside live market seemed active.
L.
Nice mall to visit. Lots of shops and food areas
G.
Great food shop's and take a way
I.
Many many good outlets here, including Korean
A.
Not alot of shopping there, but the food is good. Has changed since Countdown was there have not been in for a while.
D.
Not a shoppers haven but great for foodies
K.
My wife went to get some wool at Lyncraft. Where there's a wool there's a way.
L.
Has been upgraded better now. Has more shops and grocery shops including bull shop and Asian supermarket. Love to shop at Lincraft. Need more people to shop there.
R.
Bush inn have great shops. I go there when I need 2 look 4 a bargain or look 4 something that other shops might not have. Have some awesome shops, butcher, sushi, Cafe, other fast food shops as well close to other retail shops as well
D.
Not quite up to the level of other shopping centres near by
B.
We visited the night market. Amazing display of food cultures. We had just eaten but will certainly go again next time it is on.
S.
Haircuts for Haircuts have a fellow called Mark who will cut your hair for $25 and regale you while it's done. Nicest of blokes and great value haircut.
123 shop likewise. 2 ladies there to help find inexpensive items. 3 pack micro fibre cloths only $2.50 plus a whole host of general items including carpet cleaner.
M.
Great shops. Excellent produce. SALMON HEAVEN! AMAAAAAZING!
V.
Small shopping cummunity that has almost everything that you desire.
R.
The night market is great, but sorry to see the rest of the centre is looking a bit sad with empty shops
a.
The mall is doing its best to keep up. Too many closed shops. I still like it
N.
Growing place, still a lot of empty shops but looking good and I am happy is possible to find healthy food!
P.
This place is where you should go if you dont like heaps of people some cool shops like the leather shop and food shops everywhere. I had a good time and will be back. Kai kaha
R.
Looking for some infused olive oil found some but not in the v mart lots of asian seasoning and crazy chips
T.
Lots of different shops and lots of eateries. Love this place.
D.
Really good place for food. Has quiet a few restaurants.
C.
Great car parking assesibility. Excellent takeaway/restaurant options.
Pleasant uncrowded mall.
M.
I especially like meat shop. They do great job.
E.
A great little Mall with a diverse range of shops. Nice choice of eateries/food/cafe, there's a Countdown Supermarket, clothing/shoes/fashion shops, pharmacy/health. Plenty of parking with lots more underground for those really hot or rainy days.
N.
Awesome little boutique mall. Good selection of different shops for everyone's tastes. Unfortunately the mall can be very very quiet and I would say that this has led to a couple of wonderful shops having had to leave! All in all a cool place to go especially if you are looking for some good food!
a.
The disabled parking is quite a distance from the front door! The mobility-impaired person has to walk behind at least one other car to get to where he/she can push onto walkway as there is no way of doing this where the disabled park is, which is ridiculous!
R.
If you want food, it's great. There's a pretty good range of options and parking is good.
J.
An interest range of shops, pity there aren't more. Loved the food and fashion that's already there.
M.
A lot of useful shops, and lots of nice food. Parking gets a bit hectic during peak hours, but where doesn't. I'm really happy I don't have to make a trip to Westfield mall every time I need a burger.
S.
With its plethora of interesting quisines available this place is probably the best place in Riccarton when indecisive as you'll certainly find something that pleases. Unfortunately this place looses a star due to Pizza Hut regularly refusing valid coupons and Hachi Hachis poor excuse for Japanese food.
M.
Not the biggest mall around but has a good selection of stores and eating places. Parking can be a problem at peak times but overall worth a look.
Highlights, has an award winning butchers opposite a Korean food outlet where you can get a decent lunch for $11.
T.
Had awesome feed at Carl Jr then went I to mall for shopping most retailers were Polite and friendly
One retailer looked as us as if she was doing us a favour by letting us in her store
We will return to shop at all but one store
R.
Possibly the worst carpark design known to man. The mall feels as if it is set up purely for practical purposes, with shops that I didn't really feel like browsing through. The supermarket there is okay, but there's a better one just over the road. To be fair, it is always clean and tidy inside
D.
The eateries in the outside part of the complex were great - plenty of choice. The indoor mall itself could do with revitalisation - and hopefully the farmers’ market that is arriving soon will provide that.
P.
You can get everything here like grocery, medicine and atm etc. Parking is free and sufficient. Countdown and asia market is on walking distance so very convenient for everything.
Z.
A lot of choice for eateries. A diverse cuisine from different cultures. Very interesting and challenging to your taste palate as well. You still can do quick shopping for electrical appliances , computers and Hphones or even household items.
A.
Many good restaurants within the complex. Some of the shops have gone out of business, though.
J.
Stopped at Burgerfuel outside. As seen in this pic. Mind blowing. Loved the burger and fries, were spot on. We'll be back and have already passed on to friends how happy we were. Very fast service.
f.
Second cousin to the busy Westfield Mall. The Bush Inn has a few speciality shops that attract shoppers but not a place for browsing. It looks like there is some kind of development in process though which might pull in a few more people. Lots of parking and food outlets as well as being handy to Chinatown across the road.
h.
saturdays market there was fantastic
M.
Fantastic selection of food outlets. Looks like a great new up and coming food market.
P.
It has lots of interesting shops, some quite upmarket, some quaint and quirky. Good choice of places. Plenty of parking at the moment (although this may change if they build something in the middle of the car park...) Some very nice eating places.
B.
Lackluster. While Bush Inn has a couple of decent and uncommon stores such as Lincraft or VMART, it just doesn't have the gusto found in Christchurch's other malls. I hope to change this review in the future.
D.
Feels a bit clunky getting around but theres a lot of food variety available. Parkings a bit of a mission but more often than not theres plenty of space available.
J.
ok mall, not many shops but looooads of food options! you can find almost anything here, from burger joints to japanese food to coffee shops, there’s lots of more exquisite cuisines too! good place to come if you’re looking for somewhere to eat, loads of parking available too and it’s really near chinatown
P.
Great service and experience at leather direct
D.
Had visited before, recently there had been promotion on that it had been improved with more businesses opening, yes more but not what I expected to see, perhaps in time I might visit again.
M.
The inside of the mall has very little going for it other than the supermarket, pharmacy and food places near the entrance. Outside has some great food places but parking is a nightmare. Some shops (NY deli etc.) Get an A+ but as a mall it's only a pass.
I.
A really good place for grabbing a quick dinner, or a tasty lunch. There is a whole number of food places here, as well as Countdown and a few other shops inside the mall.
A very studenty area, so be careful.
l.
I gave it five star only because my mother works there.
But in all honesty it's pretty bad.
B.
Clean and tidy. Under cover car park. Car parking is hard. Narrow but if you park far enough away there's no problem. Only 1 entry which is a real pain if you want to access a shop thats at the other end of the mall. Mall is clean reasonable shops.
y.
Very dated. Badly needs a makeover inside this mall. I guess it's been a slow death because of Westfield's just up the road... lots of fun fresh shops outside the Mall tho.
d.
Nice little mall had a look around changed since last time there
z.
Small mall, clean and tidy. Not very busy in the mall itself but the car park area outside has Heaps of different food places and gets popular. Carpark food area cool, mall itself is s but lame
C.
Nice we shoppin center
J.
Too difficult to get a park but good range of eateries if you are on you bike 😋
H.
Great local shopping mall that has enough shops to meet our needs, but not so many that it is crazily busy. Love this place! Lovely food area outside too with lots of food outlets.
s.
Small but practical mall with some great food places
H.
It's a small mall, helpful for some things like groceries, craft materials and food outlets, though somewhat lacking in terms of electronics and clothing outlets. The carpark is also very tight and in my experience quite unpleasant. Park under Smith City if you can to avoid the carpark chaos.
T.
Specific to the night market, it is really worth getting out and trying all the foods of the world. This is street food heaven 👍👍👍
A.
Great place to go for a feed. So many different types of food in such a compact space! I love it!
A.
I love the centre but it does need a facelift. There's 3 clothing stores but no shoe outlet. 2 cheap Asian stores next to each other? Why? A mini movie theater would be great!
j.
Live nearby so visit regularly for groceries and the odd meal. Some good shops like countdown and smiths electricals. The barbers is pretty bad but the butchers is excellent and would be deserving of 5 stars on its own
P.
Good selection of stores and restaurants including a supermarket and a walk in hair dresser where for a clipper cut it's only $13 now that's a bargain. There's a nice korean restaurant there as well as a butcher for fresh meat and a Japanese restaurant pizza hut and a nz post/kiwibank. Ample parking as well as underground parking if it's raining.
E.
Generally visit here for the eateries. So many options with the typical being Dubba dubba or Black white. On this visit it was Tuk Tuk where we both had a red curry.
Nice atmosphere and food at first but the heat was far too much for us both.
Other places I visit is Burger fuel and occasionally, Sushi or Muffin break.
The book shop and travel agent House of travel is good too. The Jewellers is amazing quality & service.
Parking outside can be busy but the underground parking is typically great.
S.
Bush inn is good if your main interests are knitting and leather clothing. Definitely directed towards seniors I think. Looking forward to the farmers market giving the place a much needed refresh!
L.
Very handy range of shops (Bnz, post office and supermarket in amongst a range of retail shops).
EDIT - supermarket currently closed (Feb 2019), new one due to open this year. There's a countdown across the road though if needed.
A.
Good. Easy to find a park
B.
This mall used to be nice but since the Christchurch earthquakes in 2011, it has grown significantly. The main problem here is the traffic congestion. So hard to get out of this site especially between noon to 6 pm. I'll try to avoid this mall during peak time.
Also, it is getting harder to find a parking space. Too many vehicles, not enough parking spaces.
J.
Bush inn has a number of useful shops, however suffers from poor parking and access, especially at peak times. Notable stores include butchers, Lincraft, Countdown, and several fast food stores (sushi, burgers, Mexican, etc).
J.
Great little shopping centre and very close to home so good convenience
m.
Went there for the night market on Saturday. Quite nice. Ate a spicy squid
D.
Went to Coffee Culture for coffee and a spinach feta loaf. Wasn't heated which I asked for but was dry and aweful. Had one mouth full and left it. Even when buttered it still seemed not fresh or flavoursim.
B.
Good choice of food outlets when you don't want to cook
D.
This a redevelopment mall, it's small but you can find out the best quick to go food. Chinatown is opposite where you can dine some fine dishes.
D.
Plenty of parking. Good location variety of interesting stores
C.
Good range of craft--knitting and sewing supplies--shops. Bit tired looking as malls go, but plenty of parking, grocery and easily accessed post and banking services
A.
Bush inn center is also another mall I think it's just about same size as hornby mall ...it's also nice yo be their because it's all ways nice to be different places to buy exciting products
M.
Great variety of food options and shopping! Haven’t had any trouble with parking when I have come to visit.
J.
Plenty of food outlets thats what I will give Bush Inn. The carparking though.....yea nah not a fan. Pushy impatient people, many a time Ive seen rude people driving erratically. Wheres a cop when yu want1. Its an ok shopping centre, will miss Countdown there. Thats a huge shame thats GONE NOW.
J.
Mall looks quite empty.. could be better if all shop is fully going
C.
Good shops by day, great eating places by night
G.
Had lunch there, nice smaller mall so very easy to park and shop
S.
Big variety store. Lots of choice on offer. Bit of a queue at self check-out, but it moved quickly
M.
Limited range of shops, clothes focused on very traditional style, arts and crafts store. It also houses a Jewelry, sport shop, bookshop (that never has what one's looking for), leather and formal gown shop, phone repairs, pharmacy, barber, beauty shop, travel agent, a branch of a major department store and 2 novelty stores. One of these is Konishiwa which is very tidy and has creative solutions for everyday organising and cleaning. It has a supermarket inside and some food stores. Outside there's a Post office, BNZ branch and cafes, fast food stores and restaurants.
Parking is a challenge, there's underground parking and Street level parking. Toilets located inside are clean and in working order.
It's important to know the flooring is tile, very slippery when wet and solutions are sorted for the front entrance only on rainy days.
T.
A few new shops inside mall, nice butcher's
I.
Always going here for asian foodstuffs
w.
Was my local before we moved.up and coming-some of the best places around for dining out or on the go.
Parking is a tad horrendous-so pick your time, suggest parking under Smith City for convenient and out of the weather
K.
Good range of shops at this mall complex. Plenty of food options. Plenty of parking.
L.
Went there to meet someone. We met, enjoyed each other's company. Good selection of coffee shops. Conveniently, on orbiter bus route.
C.
Convenient mall for local people. A resonable mix of shops. A new market is opening there soon which will really enhance the mall.
G.
Shops are ok bit there is a heck of a lot of empty ones.
M.
New. The Provedore.
Only a couple of stores open 20th March 2020 and looking forward to more. Well set out and will be exciting when filled.
r.
Great selection of food stalls but parking is always congested
S.
Went to V Mart bought some peanut butter snacks very nice. Asian supermarkets.
a.
Great little food Hub with lots of choices.
Clean tidy place
A.
Bush Inn has a wide range of shops and is easily accessible on public transport, but I'd personally rather go to Westfield Riccarton down the road.
S.
Old and run down with a always packed carpark. Find some nice eateries here but nothing too formal. If you are struggling to find a carpark in the main area try for the underground CP, the the south side of the main building.
M.
Awesome Boxing Day sales with
70% off on what we were exactly looking for. Lovely new store, in a great location
A.
Average shopping centre. Unsafe in the covered parking area. Likely the only mall in the world where the open space car park may be full but plenty of space in the covered parking area.
M.
A wee complex with lots of awesome outlets in it . 123 2$ shop is my favourite
J.
Lots of good food in the courtyard/carparky area, but awful carpark full of truly awful drivers.
a.
Hassel free parking space for shoppers.
For all your daily needs the one stop pit shop place to be. Be it for food or any grocery need or even banking or postshop on the go.
г.
Nice place to shop but very busy parking area.
H.
Lots & lots of places to get food
K.
Great range of foods available in one spot, never went inside just into some of the food outlets.
P.
Some great meal options such as burger fuel, pie face and dubba dubba. The rest of the mall is a bit old and tired so not really worth sticking around for much else.
A.
Nice range of shops. Loved that the food court did NOT have the same eating places that nearly all the malls in Chrustchurch have.
S.
Under construction will have Hugh potential
J.
I can't wait for the rest of the new stores to open. Friendly, welcoming staff at all the shops.
A.
I use to love coming here, lots of empty shops now. New shops going in where Countdown use to be looks like food court.
S.
A lot of food marts there. Parking spaces seem a little tight. Place has grown
C.
Lots of food selection but that's about it. Carpark too busy, hard to park
K.
Great Mall not over crowded like others. Plenty of parking up or down. Very good selection of stores
L.
I visited Bush in to go to the Main Skein - a wool and craft shop. Amazing service and fantastic selection of wools and patterns. 5 stars from me
M.
It is a bit patchy. Some of the newer shops are great but the older ones are a bit meh. There are many eating options but some of these are really expensive for what you get
K.
Lots of places to go for a lunch or takeaway. Also Countdown, lincraft, few clothes shops etc. Not a typical shopping mall, more handy to eat than get carried away with cloth /shoes shopping.
K.
What an awesome shop, and the staff are always most helpful. Scott in the electronic section is just fantastic. Scott, you have always gone over and above your call of duty for us, and for that we thank you. You alone get a AAAAA+++++
Thank you
Katie
n.
Good to visit there. If the food court inside is closed, dnt worry. U have got many options around.
S.
Great place to shop and grab a coffee at any of the cafes. Heaps of undercover parking as well for the hot days so your cars in the shade.
A.
Bush In has really upped it's game in the last few years. The mall now has a great selection of dining options. Something for everyone.
A.
Good selection of shops and restaurants. Can be a little difficult to find a park sometimes but we didn't have a problem this time.
T.
Lots of changes since I last visited, quite a few empty shops, and some new ones
C.
Great place to go. I love Lincraft, Muffin Break, Paperplus (Excellent for my love of writing) and 123 mart is great cause it has amazing cute puppets and cute little boxes
Thanks Bush Inn Centre,
Cassie
M.
Good size local shopping centre with a range of casual eating places, Lincraft, jewellers, bookshop, chemist, clothing and shoe shop.
B.
Did nothing for me. The upgrades look great. Lacking something. Just my opinion though.
S.
Pretty empty. Hope they get more of the food shops soon
C.
Smaller mall and find parking plentiful especially the underground caroark. Mall isn't too packed when I visit or loud and busy like the bigger malls.
M.
Lots of interesting stores . I like the organic store ,v friendly and helpful staff. Will go there more often to get my organics
S.
Nice mall with a different mix of shops and foodshops. Close to Asian store where you can just walk across and stocked up your asian spices and goodies.
N.
Nice Quiet little mall, friendly sales people and plenty of different food outlets.
A.
A good mall plenty of variety had a delicious lunch at the cafe in the mall though parking was hard to find
T.
This place is really growing up. After an expansion there are quite a few nice shops here and definitely a wide selection of food places.
M.
Very average. Shops shutting at 4.30pm. Misses the people coming home from work.
강.
Much kinds of food stores are here.
Korean, Chinese, Thai and Indian restaurants are sales traditional foods.
S.
Love bush inn great places to eat, elite meats the butcher has some of the best meat in Christchurch supermarket.

Lots of variety of quality takeaway & dine in modern food place's. Easy parking right in front.
R.
I love going to bush inn especially for craft stuff. I just wish the main mall would stay open later on the weekend.
K.
I love this place, excellent shopping with a good variety of shops to choose from. Plenty of parking available and a lot of food places.
L.
Nice quiet mall good parking but not all shops and spaces full yet
C.
This place almost has all the food I need. Good supermarket and restaurants like monster chicken, etc. and I love the bubble tea here.
N.
Great food places, Awesome for when you all want different meals.
I.
Nice small Centre with a fair choice of services Inc.a Countdown and a large furniture and home supply branch Smith's city . Quite a few restaurants too
T.
The only place I liked was the source bulk foods
B.
Lots of great shops here, they have Countdown, BNZ, Pizza Hut, and many more shops. Easy and accessible parking.
b.
Nice pl to shop in, because u got different shops to look at, and buy things.
T.
Convenient mall with most things you need without having to go to a larger mall. Plenty of good underground parking.
H.
The gluten free pie from the butchery - amazing!
T.
The amount of food options is so good for when I’m being indecisive. The actual mall however feels a bit dead
C.
Easy shopping and not too big or crowded. Enough parking and several fast food outlets of various kinds
S.
Was not busy it was ok
C.
Lots of different food places to choose from here such as new York dehli, dubba dubba, Carl junior etc. Good mall and good spot to get some food.
C.
Small and ok if your needs are simple. Great hair cutting salon though. Haircare Market.
B.
Mall increasing in size. Good coffee shop inside and more outside. Several takeaway shops in anf arounf the mall.
M.
Pretty good wee local mall, lots of food choices and parking never been a problem
G.
I was just window shopping
Very good shops there
T.
Only thing missing is a supermarket.
L.
I only go there for convenience or when I needed some groceries, food or thing to done, I won't go there to do shopping but it has what I need like a supermarket, post office, restaurants, bank etc.
G.
Nice shopping centre.easy to park.womens wear .food hall ,furniture.jewellery,me at,hairdresser, supermarket, toilet nz post, and other restaurants.takeaways and petroletc
T.
Lots of variety and plenty of options.
K.
Mainly good for food outlets. Parking can be difficult but extra parks beneath Smith City.
S.
Handy if you are after fast food. The shopping mall is of limited use.
P.
New development means a diverse group of shops and dining options. Attracts younger crowd as it is close to the university.
T.
Not great shopping here, but great selection of food around it. Burgers, dumplings, Indian, thai and heaps more
M.
Some shops busy, the mall needs a revamp. The rents aren't cheap. The outside shops seem to be busy.
R.
Great place heaps of food shops
M.
Wanted a birthday card so went to $2 shop and selection good. Also lovely chemist shop and book shop
M.
Just a small mall, was under going renovations when I was there. Lots of places to get food ranging from Kebabs, Sushi to pies.
S.
very nice food, variety of sushi you can try and enjoy, a little bit expensive but that may be because of the quality and variety of sushi.
J.
Love coming here to catch up with pals during lunch.
Also the craft stores inside are appreciated!
W.
A whole range of great little eateries that are well worth the visit....one of my favourite places
H.
Cool mall. Really good for students. Has 2-dollar shops and good food places. Good parking.
N.
