Reviews of The Tannery
a.
Absolutely gorgoues place to shop. So much heritage and so nice to see a different kind of mall. There obviously isn't huge options as it is rather small and is all very boutique shops which makes for an interesting shop. 😁
J.
Had a lovely quick lunch. Out in no time, nice food, great size lunch, only had 1 cool drink but didnt get asked if we needed another. 35 degree day and we needed to queue at the bar for service. Still it was a pleasant enough day.
P.
A must first time visit for us. The greenery had obscured the signage at the roadside so it took a bit of finding. Lovely rustic atmosphere in the covered courtyard where we enjoyed a half&half pizza, fries & a couple of dark beers. Will go back next time we visit Christchurch.
D.
Great place with lots of little gems spread out . Cafe was great next to the cinema. Retro gifts had lots if kiwiana and vinyl records priced from 4 to 30 dollars good variety. Recycle clothing shops and more .
X.
nice place to have a look and take some photos
C.
Love this place even if it's just to wander through the shops. Boutique for sure! I encourage you to have a snoop around, grab a cuppa at any of the cafe's. It is a one of a kind place to visit
d.
Exclusive shopping area for not on the highstreet items. Coffee and chocolate shops to satisfy the hunger on your way round. Craft beer and bar for special occasions in this clutch of shops so all your needs covered. Well worth a visit
S.
This has beautique stores and cafe's through plus a movie theatre, so if you are looking for that special food or gift you may find it here but expect to pay for it as most store's are expensive. Food is good and reasonable.
M.
Nice place to visit with a wide variety of shopping to be had.
G.
Had leisurely stroll through the Tannery this avo. Some nice pop-up shops including a Christmas shop & enjoyed a good coffee.
j.
It was like going back time to 1900's. Totally recommend going to the little mall . Awesome little place 😊
C.
Gorgeous set of shops beautiful building but not advertised enough. We are not from Christchurch and just stumbled on it as people told me to go to Smiths book shop as I was looking for an unusual book ,
R.
It's a lovely building and there are a lot of beautiful shops but it was really warm inside and that was on a reasonably mild day so I would hate to have gone there on a scorcher.
M.
Great collection of interesting shopping. New Zealand locally made and quirky. Recommend the beautiful knitting and weaving shop, supporting local groups.
High Tea and sandwiches also very yummy
G.
This is a boutique small mall, you can find some fancy clothes, stuffs and foods here. And yes, it would be mote expensive as well. But you may encounter some small stuffs for gifts. It is worthy to mention as well that it may be slightly difficult to get in and out of the place as it has a smalll entrance beside the road and limited parking space. Nonetheless, it a great place to visit, totally loved the sushi there.
P.
its cool,dog friendly,ambient atmosphere,outside seating & tables
good food, events & regular live music.
P.
Nice cafe and pleasant surroundings but experience spoiled by very offhand shop assistant at our primary venue. Very few customers!
F.
Interesting place to visit when in Christchurch. Lots of interesring shops, cafes and the pub. Well worth the journey
H.
Loved the Tannery. Beautiful put together-the different shops and eatery. Service excellent. The shops -loved to browse. Worth a visit-you will find wonderful ideas and gifts. I was on holiday. Not a spare gram on my luggage.
W.
Lovely boutique mall. Great shops with many things not available in your average mall. Shops a bit pricey but if you are looking for something different an excellent place to shop or eat
D.
Amazing staff, accessibility options everywhere, plenty of food for all diets and allergies.
M.
Excellent food, good service, good atmosphere, couldn't fault it even if I tried
M.
Great place to visit. Many varied shops and a great pub.
J.
really nice boutique shopping centre! alot of cool shops where you can find nice vintage, unqiue things, nice places to eat and just alot of things to see in general! pretty hard to get there by public transport, but definitely worth a trip there even if you don’t end up buying anything, because theres just loads to look at!! definitely recommend stopping by here
S.
Lots of funky little shops, a beautiful building and well worth a visit
B.
We always enjoy going to Penny Black, wonderful food, I can recommend the corned beef sandwich, the service was excellent. The staff are welcoming and friendly.
A.
We went to the Tannery just a few days before Christmas in 2018. The mall has a really old timie feel, similar to the arcades. There was cute bookshops, craft and gift shops, cinema, cafe and clothes shop. My mum brought a lovely Turkish plate for as a gift from a Turkish shop and a pair of snazzy sunglasses from the fancy clothing shop which were not too expensive, but had a real Hollywood vibe. We enjoyed our time at the Tannery it was like being back in time and it was a refreshing change from the modern malls.
P.
Amazing stuff here. You'll definitely love the interior and decor. From awesome cafes to amazing crafts . You name it, you can find it
A.
Fantastic friendly amusing funny staff 😎 yummy food bit boutique style ,nice for a catch up with friends & for a treat every now n then 😍
I.
This is an amazing place to visit, there are so many different shops to visit 😀.
c.
Super fast service, yummy food, nice cold beer.
P.
It's a boutique shopping emporium on the banks of the Heathcote River in Woolston, Christchurch, New Zealand. The old industrial precinct from the 19th century is now home to a retail complex boasting stunning architecture and art, and home to a concentration of boutique shops; a hub of creativity and hospitality, retail, craft and entertainment.
D.
Very wary of entering the mall knowing unvaccinated people are invited in. I am a pensioner and vaccinated for my own safety, but aware myself or my husband could still catch covid.
P.
Cassels milk stout, very nice, especially accompanied by Tannery nibbles. A solid "good times" experience.
T.
Cool place, nice collection of shops and cafes. Beautiful and unique interior
E.
Such a great shopping experience hidden away from the main thoroughfare. Love the architecture, don't be fooled by the industrial exterior, the inside of the main building is quite beautiful and unexpected. It has a great boutique vibe, the cinema is fabulous, it has that old fashion charm. If you have been you know what I mean and if you haven't you should go take a look for yourself.
C.
Went there today and it was Market Day! Fantastic stalls and great atmosphere, everyone seemed happy to be there.😁
C.
I love this beautiful place. Being in this space is good for the soul. Not to mention the very clean toilets. :-)
H.
Incredible shopping experience. Fabulous unique individual nonchainstore shops. Loved it.
K.
This place is a must see/experience for shoppers, foodies or people looking for entertainment. Plenty of parking, things to see and do for all interests. A beautiful building with wonderful features and personal touches from a by gone era but still very modern and clean.
R.
Variety. Quality. Uniqueness. Not your typical shopping experience. Boutique from end to end. Yummy eateries, independent gift shops and art galleries, high end fashion stores. Well worth a visit
P.
Great range of shops that aren't chain stores in a wonderfully restored and renovated building.
B.
Fun and alternative place! This mall is based on 19th century architecture which adds to its uniqueness. There is a variety of shops and eateries here
s.
The best ciabatta in Christchurch and the best pain au raisin. Friends also highly recommend the pain au chocolat. I have tried five of their speciality breads and both the taste and quality shine through. Yum.
J.
Great stores, best Sushi shop in ages! But so much merchandise missing due to Covid-19
A.
Great selection of shops, not your usual mall but boutique stores inside & out.
S.
Fantastic place, parking is a a little stressful sometimes but otherwise well worth a visit.
C.
Such a great place to visit. It is a very clever use of an old building. The shops are interesting and there is a real variety of shopping options. I recently enjoyed a High Tea with special
Friends at the Black Penny Victorian Tearooms. The staff were lovely and the food was great. Would highly recommend a visit to The Tannery if you are visiting Christchurch.
J.
Excellent place to go for an afternoon
M.
Good service. Awesome pizza, best I ever had. Recommend Horotane. Have had many times since Tannery opened. I have never been disappointed. Just wish it was closer to home.
C.
Not many shops but some interesting ones here. Plenty of parking
J.
Beautiful shops and cafes, really interesting to spend a few hours here.
J.
Excellent place and free parking. There is something for everyone
R.
Lovely shopping mall. Well above expectations. Lots of interesting shows.
B.
Great atmosphere, amazing craft beers and incredible love music. One of my favourite places in Christchurch.
J.
A bit different than the big box malls
Small but worth the visit for browsing
D.
Really nice classically restored. Great place for a shop
L.
Best sushi bar I've ever been to! NORI TABLE!
K.
Start here. Nice quaint cinema. I'd say this is the shopping mall hidden gem in Christchurch that gives you something small but BIG.
E.
Awesome options of high tea one day and then coffer & scone another day in different café. Spoilt for choice!
G.
Nice use of space, boutique mixed variety of shops including eateries n coffee places (and a picture theatre) of which some are in a "mini" mall and the rest located outside but within the complex overall. Good onsite parking
J.
What a neat place! So many cool shops to visit! Particularly liked the flower shop. We bought 2 bouquets there. Such amazing arrangements!
L.
Millionaire paradise. Everything here so expensive ! $57 for a second hand top average top.... Cafes were packed out. Very fancy place to go and wander if you have lots of money. Beautiful arcade.
D.
What a fabulous shopping centre, was a lovely stroll inside the foyer and a great range of upmarket boutique shops. It's like you're in another world among all the boutique's and then you back onto the street of an older residential area.
M.
Just visiting Christchurch was taken there as a guest very impressed with the inside layout of the bar and the craft beer options
D.
Best bread at the Bellbird bakery, best pizza in the brewery pin, best cakes and cookies in the cake shop.stunning renovation of an old Christchurch tanner into a beautiful shipping mall. Not the usual mall, the tiled floor and the old brick work is stunning
I.
Lives up to its name of a unique shopping experience. A fit out like no other; hope it never changes.
D.
Always a good shopping experience. Love the fabric store options in one place.
M.
Funky contemporary spot with shops to match. Places to eat and socialise. Attention to detail everywhere including the toilets. Parking tricky when busy.
J.
Niche market. Impressive interior. Quality shops with quality wares. Boutique. Great eateries.
D.
Just wonderful, lots to see and great selection .
A.
Was alright I suppose, places seem to be very expensive for not very good quality products, bit of a shame but worth a lood none the less
P.
An amazing job done to the up grade of this building. It is a pleasure to walk around.
C.
Although I am Chch resident this was my first visit. If you hate american style malls you will probably love this. Small non chain shops in a mall built with beauty more important than cost. A very pleasant shopping experience.
A.
Nice shopping location. Worth checking out. Great bakery and ice cream
T.
Wonderful, upmarket but affordable. Even has a picture theatre. Smith's books has a big diversity of subject matter from wars and medals to geography and animals. Very cool.
V.
Tasty beer, tasty food, excellent aesthetic, what more could you want
B.
Very nicely set out Boutique Mall.
A.
Quite a place to visit, local brands, boutique stores, some rare stuffs to be found here.! Would be worth while to visit as a site seeming spot
w.
Nice place, high end quality products, next to the stinkiest part of the Heathcote River, in one of the smelliest industrial areas in Christchurch city. It's true, there is a fish processing factory not far away. Some days, oh wow!! Other than that, really nice. 😈😁
G.
My favorite place to hang out now and then. Lovely and relaxing walking around. The mall isn't so loud, like other malls that you go too. Beautiful shops and the Penny Black Victorian Cafe is beautiful to have High Tea, coffee or a bite too eat. Fantastic place to visit.
L.
A nice place to spend money or just browse in the lovely shops.
A.
Lovely meal service fantastic really recommend always worth the visit.
G.
Lovely decor. Worth going just for this. Shops are what you'd expect. Upper range. Great bookshop.
N.
Loved it hopefully get back there soon.
M.
I'm here usually at least once a week. Yoga, coffee, cinema, shopping, recycling clothing, craft beer, food.... something to fit all sorts of moods. Amongst lots of rebuilding in ChCh, The Tannery has been a good refuge to seek beauty in a building.
S.
I love The Tannery. It has some great locally owned shops.
H.
I just love the cheese rolls. Even better I think than the famed Southland cheese rolls.
S.
What a great place ! Some very good eateries and shops and all designed around a central mall like hall. We'll done !
D.
Lovely setting and atmosphere with a reasonable range of boutique shops and services at boutique prices. Various cafes spread throughout. Staff are friendly and chatty and happy to help with any questions you have. Worth a visit to see for yourself
B.
Excellent beer, great food and cool atmosphere.
h.
Gr8 Place to Socialize for Drinks & A Meal also the Staff were Very Hospitable. Thanks to All
A.
Absolutely beautiful architecture inside, reminds me of QVB in Sydney.
S.
Great place, quiet, relaxing and interesting. It is a shame It wasn't in the central city but you can't pick where buildings are. Well worth a visit and look around.
G.
Nice antique Market. Pretty mall. Interestering shops.
C.
Had a hair and beard trim at mankind barber the young woman that looked after me did a fantastic job offered me a drink and gave me a awesome cut ready for my Daughters wedding!
E.
Lovely coffee, after our greyhound walk. Very nice we were able to bring them in the mall
C.
Beautiful mall. Variety of interesting stores, though 'elitish...' 🙄 nice cafe...Penny Black, worth a visit. Outside shops too.
A.
We had lunch at the Tavern and were super impressed with the food and service. We both had the salmon dish and it was superb. Well priced to.
f.
It's a unusual place which has basically unique stores. 'Hapa' is amazing ~ most of the items are made in - NZ that alone would say superior quality and worthy of your attention and support. You can access great vitamins and herbs at the 'Apothecary' , calm, quiet 'Beauty Therapy' sanctuary, a worthy book 📖❤store - I manage to get lost in here for at least an hour each time ⏲️and NEVER come out empty handed ✋, gifts 🎁in other boutique stores, 'Penny Black' café worthy of their scrumptious food and polite, efficient service 😀 Never leave without crossing the carpark to the shops on the sidewalk within the carpark area. A must see for superb quality handmade at wonderful prices is the ' Weaving' and 'Felt' shore ~ old fashioned manners with service in here. Two doors 🚪down is a proper bakery ~ weight watchers no where in sight, live dangerously, go ahead and eat the grand pastries and cakes 😋 loads of special feature stores all worthy of your attention.
A.
Has an atmosphere all of it's own. Love coming here. Don't come often, it's out of my price range. Enjoyed a coffee while my son had his hair cut.
Toilets were hygienic and fresh, at the end of the day.
F.
Couldn't find sport pants but that may have been my fault 🤣 Very cute little boutiques with lots of specialty stuff. You'll find exclusive gifts and inspiration everywhere 🎁
s.
Retro mall with movie theatre, also offers a number of small shops with local goods and clothing, prices on the higher end, restaurants and bar. Good place for a stroll and window shopping.
S.
My favorite place for breakfast (mitchellis) books (smiths bookstore) && beer! (Cassels)
I also love the sushi (nori table) and my number one stop for health remedies and ailment (apothecary). The historic refurbished building is a beautiful bonus. 🥰 infinite stars!
A.
Nice boutique shops, great place for a coffee
R.
Mankind Barbers is the best!!! Such beautiful architecture too.
W.
A regular spot to shop for gifts or clothing, to browse the excellent consignment stores, enjoy some great sushi or see a movie. Love the whole ambience of this amazing space, and that there are plenty of parking spots surrounding.
D.
Nice variety of shops and places to eat.
J.
It's a good shopping mall. The shops aren't two far away and it doesn't take long to walk from one side to another. However the prices are high and it's not worth it if you're on a budget for shopping for gifts or clothes and food as well.
J.
Wow. This is the perfect "step back in time" mall in the whole country. Got that amazing book from Smith's bookstore inside the Tannery
B.
Nice retail mix, best Sushi here
B.
Great place for coffee, specialist chocolate and cute boutiques. Picked up some kiwi treats in their Christmas market. Loved munching in the vintage clothing and fabric shops.
N.
Neat building but the shops are on the expensiive sidd
A.
Love this place especially Deluxe Deluxe cinema 🖤
M.
Beautiful and charming place, The Tannery is a nice place to have a great cup of tea with cake or watch a film in a vintage environment. Me and my wife go there frequently to visit the stores and have a nice snack. I recommend to you all!
H.
This is an amazing place to visit, all outlets have unique shopping experiences. Sure to find something special.
My visit to HAPA was great, the staff member was really helpful in trying to locate an item they previously had in stock, nothing was a bother and she was so friendly. Thank you
H.
Such a beautiful space filled with some gorgeous local retailers, some nice, some a little boring. I adore La Bu (the jeweler), the florist, Uncommon Shop and Recycle Boutique.
E.
Great Boutique Mall, nice even just for a window shop
K.
A beautiful, boutique shopping arcade. The building has been lovingly restored and has a great cinema as well. It's a great place to go if you are looking for a special outfit or gift. The Brewery does delicious food and has an extensive beer and wine list. Great place to take kids as well.
M.
Nice little complex with quality shops. A bit out of the way.
B.
A shopping centre on the outskirts of Christchurch with a difference. The single-level brick buildings are new, but with an old-style artisanal feel that fits in perfectly with the boutique stores it features. Four-hour free parking.
K.
It is a unique shopping precinct in CHC, along the style of Queens Arcade in Sydney. More of a special experience and regular treats emporium than a family shop. Well worth a visit and great repurposing of property.
J.
Beautiful mall with lovely boutique shops. Had a good coffee too. Daughter had a chilli hot chocolate which tasted amazing. It's been renovated to a high quality. Warm, well lit. You could spend a while window shopping. Quite a range of shops. Good parking and near to the city.
A.
Great beer, sampled a few with a tasting tray.Usual high standard .Popular restaurant
R.
Great service in store, and then during the following week as I tried to source a particular fabric. Jade was amazing and we got the perfect fabric from the Tannery store and the Dunedin store. Thank you.
A.
Went to Cassells for pizza and beer, very enjoyable.
W.
Cool artisanal mall perfect for the winter as it's indoors
E.
Fantastic shopping complex with amazing architecture. The She Chocolate shop is a must stop and other interesting shops always have different stuff to the norm. The Surf shop is a great stop too. If you want a small movie theatre experience without the crowd and great customer service this is a great place too. Recommend this place.
A.
High quality stuff. Nick nacks, great second hand high end bookstore. If you like shopping for expensive chocolates and tchotckes you'll love it. Nice little cafes, and a really good independent cinema.
J.
Love visiting this place. Always top of list when visiting from Tasman
C.
Very busy, we arrived with a group of 20. Staff were under the pump, with two kegs needing replacing during our order. They offered to bring the drinks that they couldnt pour immediately out to our table, and did so promptly. Large open areas indoors and outdoors, with a great pizza menu. Wish we had been there on a Tuesday for the 2 for 1 pizza deal!
M.
So many interesting shops with good stock displayed well. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Good eating places. Try the dumpling place next to Betty Black's.
J.
We had to look after a dog for the day. This is the perfect place to take your fury friend. The food, service and pricing is spot on. Loved it.
E.
It was a surprise when we 1st visit the place. It looks you travel to the past. Amazing decoration, everything clean and tidy. Good light! Perfect spot for pictures as well ;-D The cinema looks like you are in 50's
C.
Wonderful buildings. I was prepared to spend up on jewellery in a homeware gift store but shop assistant judgemental & inattentive, so I walked out with the few hundred $ I'd planned on spending on jewellery. Whole building lacks love & care. One person outstanding - the Turkish expat. with his beautiful range of crystals & jewellery.
A.
Love this place!!! Unique shoping mall! All of them are local shop from handcraft souveniers, boutique, barber, florist, cafes and even a bookshop! Recommended to visit🤙🤙👍👍
C.
Lovely boutique place, you can spend your leisure time here with all interesting shops and things. Nice place to visit!
L.
Excellent shopping centre. Loved the book shop, wool fibre, reuse clothes, art, and cafe. Awesome specialist boutique experience.
A.
I live close and it is our local. Great food and the cinema is intimate and shows mainstream as well as Indy and alternative movies.
The brewery is attached and the pizza is fantastic not to forget the craft beers.
Perfect place for a coffee, gifts, hanging out... Even a hair cut.
b.
A Best kept secret for coffee in the East in the mornings. very good coffee from a guy who was locally famous in Hereford st. pre Quake.
breakfast menu is really well served here.
if you have. " egg's benedict". or full breakfast here at 10 am;. you won't need to touch anything till. 8 pm!!!!
they do it right😋
M.
First class. The best coffee and scone and ambience I have had for a while. Situated among lots of lovely little shops in an English arcade. Lovely
T.
Great beer...and the pizza is good too
S.
Beautiful shops inside with quality and attractive goods, books clothes antiques and flowers, brewery and restaurant serving pizza and pub style food.
C.
Great service. I had to be somewhere and even though they were busy they cooked a pizza and chips for the kids in 8 minutes. Really appreciated this and of course the pizza was great. Very thin base and delicious simple toppings done on a wood oven. Had a black IPA and this was magnificent. Great outdoor covered seating that was dry and warm and not so noisy.
C.
The Tannery is one of Christchurch's post-earthquake suburban hot spots, where folks now gather instead of the still-dead - overcapitalised- central city. The renovated historic, industrial buildings ( expanses of old stunning red brick workshops with sawtooth rooflines) now house local boutiqes & homewares stores, hair salons, independent bookstores, beer garden, craft bewery & craft bakery, movie theatre, antique store..next to the river in the lee of the Port Hills. And I love that it brings new life to one of my favourite, old, historically working class parts of town. No longer the wrong side of the tracks. Funny how that happens 😉
R.
What a great place to visit. Has a specialist movie theatre and a small but quality choice of food offerings. Plenty of parking and some shops not found elswhere
J.
Excellent experience in this shopping market.
R.
Had a great lunch with our extended family. Loved the food and the speciality drinks. Was scorching hot so we decided to sit under the canopy. Would have been less hot on outside as the breeze come through there. We will be back.
K.
Great spot im come back.
L.
Excellent except for the Japanese restaurant. The food etc is great there but I was embarrassed when I got to the counter and tried to pay with cash and the shop person practically hissed at me that they would not take cash. I understand because there has been Covid but there was absolutely no signage stating this policy so I was left fumbling for money with a big queue building up.
S.
Good variety of high end stores in Christchurch. Nice to see some variety in these boutiques.
S.
Went to Victoria tearoom, service was great
K.
Retail therapy in beautifully restored buildings. Lovely boutique shops.
T.
A genuinely interesting and unique collection of retail outlets. You are bound to find something that you will like here.
c.
Loved this place with lots of interesting shops to choose from. Something for everyone. Served by a lovely shop assistant in Apothecary friendly and helpful. Definitely visit again.
R.
This is a really lovely Mall. A refreshing step away from the standard malls. Different shop brands, still very good quality ranges, good cafes however the restoration of this older group of buildings is exceptional. Great place to spend a couple of hours browsing.
J.
Best pizza and great service and of course the beers! A great selection of boutique brew. A very busy place especially on Tuesday night when you get the famous 2 for 1 Enjoy.
M.
Didn't go in cause of a woman's only event. Car park was good to stare at I guess, cause of waiting for gf and others.
S.
First time there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just had a tap beer and finger food which finished the day off nicely 🙂
B.
The tannery could be perfect. The building is beautiful and well set out. There's a wide variety of shops with great products. The restaurants and movie theatre are superb. It could do with a really good cafe that does a delicious simple coffee and also (for the parents) a better change table facility. I love the building and have been to a couple of wonderful functions in the main shopping area. It's definintely worth a visit!
c.
Reasonable parking, and pretty cool shopping
L.
This place is amazing! Well I must admit it's a couple of years since I've seen it but it was stunning when I was there. Mostly high end shops, uniquely designed and set up beautifully. The cafe options were wonderful offering something a bit different from the norm. The actual design with all exposed iron work was fabulous. Definitely worth a visit.
h.
Cute wee pub, good, good service, good beer. Well worth a visit 🍻
R.
Two for One Pizzas on Tuesday. A great place to catch up with friends and enjoy a pint of the local brewery.
J.
Can't complain about the tannery. Theres a reason the parking gets that busy. Its a nice spot with a range of options for food and shopping. A rare treat on this side of town.
P.
Excellent service. Top notch food.
M.
A lovely serene atmosphere through out the mall. I actually went there for Bowen therapy by an amazing therapist Julie Wardle who operates from this location twice per week and travels down from Hanmer where she resides.
w.
If you haven't been to the tannery you missing out
Great shops and eateries shop that aren't in the malls parking out side or round the back
L.
The Tannery is an absolutely beautiful building with equally as wonderful shops. It's definitely a place to visit if you have a good amount of pennies in your pocket as it has lots of boutique shops. Lots of variety however and so it is the perfect place to go shopping for a special gift for somebody or for yourself.
M.
The brewery is great. On Tuesday 2 for 1 is great value.
T.
One of my favourite spots to go in the city. The shops are interesting and unique, no big conglomerate chains, but the building itself is just gorgeous. Good pub food and a really cute upscale movie theatre too.
C.
Ooooh I love it here 😊 could spend the whole day just taking my time. Lots of lovely stuff and a nice variety as well. Several fabric shops to choose from, a nice imported furniture store and a really nice restaurant with wide range of options for various dietary needs.
C.
Love this mall which is full of character, with interesting boutique shops as well. The 1920's style movie theater has lazy-boy style, very comfortable seating, so you can put your feet up. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.
P.
Very Bougie.. I love it how people like to be snobby and flaunt the fact that this place is boutique.. and it is.. but do you know WHY it's called "The Tannery"? Hmmm 🤔🤣
E.
Many different types of businesses, nice to browse, high end pricing. Kind of out of the way, but obviously popular, not easy to find a park nearby because of popularity which is great!
D.
Lovely unique shops. Deluxe cinema movies with all the trimmings. Divine She Cafe hot chocolate. Cakes and savoury treats from Penny Black. Great live music venue at Blue Smoke
K.
A beautiful little space to enjoy a little retail therapy with a difference.
If in Christchurch I would highly recommend a visit here.
V.
Nice place for shopping but no enough parking space
J.
Nice atmosphere and pretty to look at. Tad pricey depending on budget. Apothecary has well knowledgeable staff. Parking can be a challenge
P.
Very interesting shopping area.
N.
Its is a lovely place to browse. Great brunch at the cafe but menu doesn't really cater to children or do smaller kid size. I asked if they could just do a one egg to make small portion of scrambled eggs but no. No kids size drinks. Fun area under the stairs for kids but not able to be seen from all tables downstairs. Appreciated been able to make a booking, staff friendly, food great.
J.
Wonderful range of exciting shops and delicious food. Highly recommended!
H.
This place had an awesome atmosphere! We were lucky because it had 2 for 1 pizzas. Great selection of drinks and the pizzas were pretty good. Still not up to Melbourne standards, but very good nevertheless.
S.
Our family went on the two for one pizza night, the pizzas arrived fast, tasted great and all washed down with some on tap beers. Something for everyone and well worth the experience.
A.
Great place to shop prices competitive the buildings look old but fashionable recycled timber and material it is close to my unties house straight across the road
H.
My favourite building to shop in! I have shopped with many clients here and had a break for lunch at Mitchelli's during shopping trips with clients and friends. An awesome mix of Fab food, Hot chocolate, French Bakery, Clothing Stores, Shoes and High End Recycle Boutiques. Always relaxed, helpful, friendly service wherever you go.
M.
Beautiful shopping mall, really worth taking a look if you're in Christchurch.
O.
'Shopping mall' is a technically accurate but ultimately inadequate way of describing The Tannery. Home to a lovely bookshop and the best barbers I've ever been to yet, it's not quite like the others. Rustic, quiet, largely out of the way. The door placement makes no sense. Almost feels like it should have an upstairs. Lovely little place.
M.
Impressive cosy stores which have different displays of quality clothing. Also found my favorite chocolate place here.
S.
Great service. Delicious Pizza very relaxing Sunday with nice live Music
D.
Great shopping experience. Good food at Michellis, lots of boutique stores
C.
Cute selection of bars and shops.
M.
Nice layout with finew weather, otherwise you're restricted to covered mall space which excludes 50% of shops. Restaurants, pub and movie theatre accompany varietal shops. Worth a look. Interesting and unique, though likely not budget buying. Plenty of parking off peak, spaces available for the observant and lucky when busy, peak hours.
C.
Beautiful building to have a wonder around. Shopping is quite expensive but some places have good sales. Beautiful place to have a look at with out of town visiters, not so good for serious shoppers as would be expensive. Great quality second hand stores just opened up that's well worth checking out called "wear else". - opportunity main building. Parking can be an issue on weekends.
r.
Fantastic space with great shops and cafes a cinema, Mrs B's flowers, She chocolate, artisan bread and much more. Then there's the Brewery pumping out amazing pizzas and craft beer! Finally the atrium is a vaulted sunny space for business events and weddings.
D.
One of my favourite places to shop. Very boutique and very friendly, helpful service
L.
I go for yoga at Grassroots Studio and then to Mitchellis for coffee or smoothie afterwards. Both places have amazing staff, great facilities and are very welcoming.
R.
Love the surroundings here and the feel of this lovely building. Bit quiet on the weekends though in the morning.
F.
Good pizza great beers, milk stout excellent
K.
Nice beer 🍺 and pizza 🍕
R.
LOVE THIS PLACE. Never fails to impress. Quality choices always attractively displayed. Such a fabulous asset for the Garden City. Thank you 🌹
L.
A special place. A must for a morning out with the girls followed by lunch.
A.
Great movie and cuppa Earl Grey good China. Loved to see the Fails cafe tables!
J.
Went to see the band Elemnop at the blue smoke and it’s a really cool venue for live music. The food is good at the bar next door. I had the karange chicken and it was really yummy. The shops are good in the mall. Very boutique and cute. The second hand shop was expensive but has some cool items
S.
Parking is always a challenge but otherwise awesome to visit the cute stores.
C.
Went for a celebratory High Tea. It was fabulous, the Gluten Free selection (photo2) was well enjoyed. The staff were very friendly and service was attentive. Would recommend.
M.
If your looking for something different and unique, this could be the place for you. Be warned though, a lot of the shops are quite expensive and possibly not for the average shopper. Certainly worth a browse though and a nice place to go for a coffee, or something to eat. There is also a cinema that shows a different selection of films. The Tannery is certainly worth a visit.
D.
Great shopping experience.Well worth the trip. Two or three lunch spots to choose from.Enjoy!
J.
Lovely place to visit - beautiful shops, lots of unique things to look at. Hapa was lovely to browse through - lots of NZ made which was great. Bought a top at Wear Again - really nice preloved clothing. Visited the tearooms - Penny Black - caramel cake was nice - $9.50 so a bit on the pricey side, but lovely place to eat :)
J.
Really interesting plenty of historic and important stores Like Munns and Smith's Book shop . An important part of the city's retail outlet.
M.
Lovely boutique mall, all interactions in stores was exceptional.
M.
Great place to find something a bit different from all chain stores in the other malls.
G.
Absolutely love ❤️ Looks amazing and some very nice shops in there to.
L.
Beautiful building, beautiful range of boutique shops. Quite expensive, but that's the target market I guess! Visiting She Chocolat is a must, it's divine. Gorgeous florist here too, and many gift shops with unique items. If you're happy to spend money on your clothes, there's an incredible range of very beautiful clothing here too, some at quite reasonable (designer) prices.
R.
great place if you like craft beers... sadly tho, they dont have any gluten free beers. will change to 5 stars if you get some in.
A.
I could honestly not recommend this place enough!
My Husband and I had a surprise wedding using both the blue smoke room and the Atrium.
We mainly dealt with Amy and her team and they were so amazing! I could not say enough good words about them.
Their response to emails, planning, excitement for your day was outstanding.
They took the stress out of everything and on the day they ran the show like pros - you hear about couples being stressed but this wasn't the case for us.
Nothing was to big of a deal for them, even when they only had 45 minutes to set up an entire venue to go from an engagement party in one room to a full on wedding in another room (with out anyone noticing!!!)
On top of that you have the added beauty of the venue and when those fairy lights go on its absolutely stunning!
Thanks Amy and the rest of the team, you are all amazing and we still can't thank you enough!
A.
Cool stores but closes early, it would be cool to be able to have dinner or some drinks there.
K.
Lovely little exclusive boutiques and fab food at The Tannery. Just had a great sharing platter with breads, crackers, cheese, olives, hummus, salad, cold meats, krannzkies etc and 2 great pizzas and French fries. Good seating indoors and outdoors. Pleasant, friendly, efficient staff. Very recommended.
S.
Here is a beautiful restored industrial site, converted to a chic , boutique shopping centre. You will find amazing delicatessen abundant with quality foods. In addition there is a luxury cinema, antique shops, cafés, designer clothing, up-cycled goods and trendy independent outlets. Parking is easy with a huge area allocated.
a.
I like it very much. It's a combination of old architect with modern brands of cloths and other stuff.
Pretty good place.
A very nice shopping complex (not a mall) with very nice restaurent(s) and I loved.
Also it looks awsome at night time with all those decorative lights.
A.
We were taken here and what a find. Love how they have done up and used an old building like this and put in some funky shops. Lots of different things to look at.... And buy. Check out the chocolate stall it's amazing chocolate.
J.
A small, well presented mall. I always get great service from the clothing stores here. Also the cinema is a bit of a hidden gem. Parking can be a mission. A good place to look for birthday presents to give.
S.
What a special set of shops this turned out to be! Clothing, books, souvenirs, children's shop that sold dolls I had been looking for in Australia and NZ(Very hard to find a doll that my half aboriginal, part Maori, part Ozzie grandaughter can identify with)Beautiful art deck movie theater, loved this set of shops.
C.
Mitchells Cafe was great some other shop people not so great
K.
Such a gorgeous place full of wonderful shops, smells, sounds and people. Definitely a must see in chch
J.
Had really nice karaage chicken and a nice Krispy base pizza at the brewery. They were quite busy but good service and very reasonable. Will go again
T.
Very sociable. Good selection of beer on tap... Good food. Lots of pizza options. Loud and kids can be loud.. A small kids corner
S.
has a lot of little shops that are great to have a nose in..has a cinema on site reasonable parking. blue smoke is great live band venue and gr8 pizza's next door.
P.
Love the Turkish jewelry store. So much to choose from Amazing rings . They also do layby
M.
Amazing place.Beautiful food and coffee.Customer service is amazing. Worth trip from North Canterbury to take my Mum out for the day 🙂💗
A.
Beautiful unique expensive place, great to have a look for ordinary people . Recycled boutique is one of the affordable shops there that never disappoints
J.
The Tannery is one of my favourite malls in Christchurch.
It's a very relaxing environment and everything is so nice and chill.
Beautiful architecture and ultimately a quiet place to enjoy.
Highly recommend you visit!
H.
Great little theater what a pain with the food and wine being delivered when the movies started though. When the movies started food drinks shouldn't be served as we had staff passing food in front of us while we were watching the screen doubt we'd go back just so strange people would want cheese boards to eat during a movie but to hve them passed in front of you while the movies playing just doesn't seem right 😠
E.
Great place to stop off for food and drinks and friendly service on your travels
N.
Absolutely stunning place. The event there was awesome that we went along too
A.
Really Cool place. Lot of shops, coffee, shoes, jewelry, clothes. Very different place to visit in Christchurch.
C.
Had a great chocolate experience here.
N.
Yummy pizza (especially the lamb one!), good selection of craft beer and nice atmosphere and cool brewery setting (inside and outside sitting available)- it was our regular while living in Chch :)
Parking can be limited at the Tannery, but we always managed to find a spot. :)
S.
Amazingly designed new (old style) mall in Christchurch. Nowhere near enough visitors for such an incredible array of shops, great eatery, and the legendary Smith's Bookshop! Worth every second of a visit. Plenty more shops down the driveway too.
N.
Great place to go to on a Sunday morning or afternoon. The shops are up market and well stocked with top brands. Excellent choices of Cafes&Restuarants and Mens&Womanswear shops. Also gift and other related shops etc. We will be back again.
J.
Super-trendy little mall inside a beautiful old building. Worth having a look around, because there are some choice stores inside. Make sure you smash open your gran's swear jar before you arrive though, because it ain't cheap in there!
R.
Love the great pizzas and the fabulous beer. So popular best to book.
L.
Just like shopping in Melbourne! Great selection of different shops, from boutique to fabric and upholstery. Picture framing and an art gallery. Quality second hand clothes and great cafe/restaurants. Movie theatre and lots of free parking (2hrs) crafty, nic-naks, free trade and a florist! I love coming here!
J.
Very nice specialty mall. Tannery buildings revamped in tasteful victorian style. Excellent cafes too
B.
29/12/2015 - Lots of upmarket boutique shops in a Victorian style arcade centre. Shops are accessible from outside or inside (arcade) the main building. Other shops have to be accessed from outside. Plenty of parking 🅿. Have cafes and restaurants.
Lovely place, good atmosphere.
K.
Great beer, great service
P.
Had some drinks and snacks here for a work leaving do, everything was great, pizzas were awesome, nice thin base and not too crispy.
The staff were friendly and attentive. Will have to try dinner there.
K.
Always a joy to browse all the shops and The Fabric Store is a particular favourite. Great coffee at Mitchelli's, fab vintage and second hand stores and lovely speciality stores.
K.
Just groovy, chilled and sophisticated
D.
Unique boutique shopping complex set in a beautiful vintage art deco style building. Independent local shops that provide something for everyone: men's and women's fashion, gifts, homewears, florist, barber shop etc. Also a couple of pubs, eateries and a art house cinema!
R.
A beautiful boutiquey mall, with indoor & outdoor specialty, gifty stores. Still feels & looks so new. Definitely a fave to visit in Chch!
F.
A slice of some other world, it screams antique charm and the decoration is so unexpected from the outside. Parking can be hard if you are there even when you don't expect it. Interesting range of shops it is worth visiting.
S.
Clean, good parking, lovely shops.
S.
The apothecary was my absolute favourite shop out of the many and varied choice of boutique shops. I could easily spend a few hours here browsing. It also has a Recycle Boutique, which I used to frequent until the prices began to get a little too exhobitant. A tearoom, a cafe and a bar which opens at 3pm are all great options for refreshment or somewhere to park unenthusiastic spouses. I can't wait to come back to Chch again so I can treat myself to a mini shopping spree!
S.
Nice to have live music but loud drum solos during lunch, while trying to have a conversation with friends, is a bit off putting. The smell from the industrial area.. is it the gelatin factory, is not great. But food nice.. get a table indoors and then it's not bad.
K.
Great selection of shops that are different to chain stores. Awesome vibe.
S.
Amazing place!! Like stepping into another time... loved every bit of it, the one down side is that it seems to be for the more well off, as most shops in there are of the higher price range.
N.
The Tannery brings a bit of Wellington to Chch. Very boutique, very quant, even if you’re not going to buy anything it’s just a really nice place to visit
S.
Cool place to watch movies, have a drink or do some artisan shopping.
J.
Great array of shops. Coz eatery and brewery bar. We had a work function here earlier this year which was spectacular! The stain glass is exquisite.
G.
Such a beautiful refurbished mall. Incredible detail that has been put into bringing this building back. Love all the shops in here too.
C.
Great place to get a haircut, look for some nice clothes or grab a drink (whether it be coffee or beer). Expect the odd Merivale stare if you're a regular mortal, but if you're fine with that like I am it's a great place.
O.
Awesome place if you want a botique shopping experience in Christchurch. One issue is the shortage of parking on the weekend (from my experience) On Tuesday it is extra busy because of the specials restaurants and some businesses have on. All in all a great place to go if you want a unique shopping experience or are looking around Christchurch for something unique and special to the area.
C.
Wow what an interesting place to visit and shop. Interesting mixture of business. Great for a look around.
H.
Nice wee boutique mall. Great eating places and stores
V.
Fabulous shopping, day spa, yoga studio and art theatre. Also enjoy the several boutique eateries, the apothecary and bellbird bakery.
T.
Great shops, great place. You have to try the Cassels Beer. Easy to find and normally good parking around the shops.
R.
We had our Christmas Party in Blue Smoke and AGA. It was coordinated by the wonderful events team who oversee the whole area (including the Atrium). They were excellent to communicate with and went out of their way to accommodate our needs and help us out. They were very friendly, the set-up looked beautiful, and everything was clean and tidy. I would 100% have another function at the Tannery again and highly recommend to others they would also do so. Again thanks so much to the great team there - they helped to make our night so much more enjoyable and hassle-free!
F.
Cool place but not much to do there at times
H.
I like the architecture and they have some great shops, but I feel that shops also fluctuate a lot. I especially like the gallery which offers a wide range of locally made jewelry.
E.
Are you an aging hipster with nothing to do after your weekend bike ride? Peel yourself out your lycra and pour yourself into your fave skinny jeans to share admiring glances.
This is your safe place.
On the plus side the brewery is going from strength to strength and always offers a nice pint
E.
Nice little place although at one end it had such a strong cinnamon smell I could hardly breath so had to leave.
M.
Got asked about making the table available for the next guest... While we were still purchasing drinks etc..
G.
Very quiet good easy parking.
Nice selection of stores.
Friendly staff
J.
It feels like an anti-mall with the restoration. Great coffee and a relaxed feel. Clothing, chocolate, an indie release cinema and a chill vibe. Shopping & coffee for a relaxed couple of hours.
A.
Great beer and food
C.
Beautiful building. Shop overpriced and not really my personal thing.
P.
Awesome place, one of my favourite alternative spots in Christchurch.
A.
The mall is small but perfectly designed
There are plenty of awesome cafes there
It is a place for having a perfect coffee and cake rather than shopping 😁
M.
Well this is a favorite place for me great shopping and just the architecture that's a bit of me
C.
Encompass jeans best ever service 👍😘🍒🥧
C.
Visited for the brewery Cassels & Sons. Excellent craft beer and cider and delicious pizzas from a wood-fired pizza oven. The menu never disappoints as it uses fresh local ingredients and the chef has a light hand. 👍
P.
Great ambiance. Good if you a relaxed shopping experience. Petit mall so search website to make certain the products you want are on sale there. Choice of food is good though.
R.
Absolutely brilliant and so laid back to shop here and great food selection, also so many creative ideas for you to see and buy
B.
I love this outstanding complex of boutique shopping experiences. A little pricey- but well worth a special treat now and again. Especially love the old but fashioned cinema at one end.
A.
Service excellent n selection of meals good. Lunchtime meals variety very good
S.
Great place to explore in good weather. Not sure what it'd be like in the rain! A few more decent cafes wouldn't hurt to have a few more choices
R.
I did my 2017 Xmas shopping here this year. Probably more expensive that what would normally be but I was able to browse a wide range of stores. Smiths bookshop is a place you could get lost in flicking through various pages until you end up buying way over budget because they have such quality. I got some pretty good finds in the second hand section
J.
Nice hi end mall in an historic building, lots of funky design and boutique fashion stores, along with fancy cafes and an Art house cinema, even a good source dough bakery. You won't find Jeans West or McDonald's here, but that's kind of the point.
B.
The outside area was great, a cold night but sheltered with outdoor heaters. Awesome that doggos can come in with their humans. Great food and the staff too
J.
My favourite place for beer and pizza. Nice atmosphere and never have trouble finding a car park. Close to bus services as well.
p.
Always a great place to grab a beer or 2 and tasty eats
A.
Shopping isn't the only reason to visit Tannery. You would enjoy the whole experience specially fine coffee and delicious cakes at Penny Black.
C.
Christchurch's most elegant shopping precinct- good if you are missing the Queen Victoria Building in Sydney. An Emporium of temptation featuring She Chocolate, fashion boutiques, unique jewellery and herbal potions plus a brewery with amazing food and quick service.
F.
My son and I went to breakfast here. It was clean and tidy and staff helpful and friendly. Our meals were both good and although the price was a little bit on the expensive side it was enjoyable.
L.
Great selection of quality shops and good eateries also. Nicely built with indoor and outdoor shopping. Good parking also.
C.
A little bit quieter than usual but plenty of parking and still has good shopping and food outlets.
E.
So beautiful!! Lovely boutique shops. The sushi shop is amazing!!! I love the pick-your-own-sushi element.
C.
Lovely boutique shops!
N.
We love to go to the Tannery Brewery Bar. The food is great, the beer cold and most importantly our little four legged companion is welcome. They have water containers for her.
v.
Always love their pizzas and milk stout and best bitter
C.
Great place to chill and have dinner, a few good options . Nicely set out and easy to navigate. Outside areas fitted with heaters so no fridge dining here . A+++
J.
Lots of shopping options, but many are designer or upper-class stores. The prices generally aren't reasonable for the average person. The theatre is a nice touch, and I enjoyed the resale shop.
D.
Lots of good food although I was not able to find anything other than plain coffee. Very crowded but we were there at lunchtime.
D.
Beautiful place! Something different in Christchurch with very cool and unique shops !
C.
Gorgeous. Love all the stores!!! So much to see . Great food as well. Perfect for a wet afternoon. Or anytime really if you like to shop!
H.
Yep nice they have yummy chocolate and a good bar
W.
Nice way to spend a wet afternoon browsing some interesting ships and then coffee and nibbles
N.
Love the vibe of the mall, nice decorated and spacious for have a walk around inside.
D.
Lovely place to visit and just wander. Tempting shops to spend money in and quality goods. Love KILT for clothes
A.
Covid service at Bellbird was first class.
W.
An eclectic mix of stores with fashion, homewares, art and craft, and jewellery all available; this is a great alternative to a stroll down Cashel St or to Riccarton Mall. Now much improved by the addition of the arthouse Deluxe Cinemas. And make sure you stop in to the always-excellent Mitchelli's Cafe for a spot to eat and drink!
P.
Enjoy a beer at the Brewery here with good wood fire pizzas. House beers are good - Cassels and they have guest beers from around the country to give you some variety. Staff members are knowledgeable about the beers and can usually do a good pour.
P.
A great mix of eclectic shops in amazing old tannery buildings. What great insight to create this place. Cafe also worth 4 * with excellent coffee and lunch food.
T.
Beautiful building that has been repurposed lots of lovely boutique shops to check out.
D.
Great artisan boutique shopping. Locally designed and crafted products. Also some good bargain shops as well. Very yummy chocolate shop and bakery.
M.
I love the whole experience at The Tannery. The location, the variety of shopping experiences, the atmosphere, beautiful people watching and most of all Cassels and its beer!
A.
Good food but on a chilly day it was cold every time someone came in or out. I would go there again in summer.
C.
Nice place to shop
J.
I loved the post modern style, with a hint of art-nouveau. The shops are really nice integrated in the aesthetic of the place.
A.
Love this place! It sure gives you this Victorian vibe once you're in.
R.
Beautiful building. Tannery pizzas are the best and love Deluxe Cinemas.
M.
I go every few days to play the baby grand piano and the acoustics are AMAZING!!!
P.
Lovely boutique mall. Good range of shops. Beautiful decor. Great to not have the usual type of people that just hang out in malls. A must to visit.
N.
Awesome place to chill and have an ale or three 😊
S.
Like this mall for the range and variety of shops and facilities. Glad the don't appear to be any chain retail. This makes for an interesting time of browsing and shopping.
G.
Hosted Fred Hollows eye surgery morning tea. Diabetes from sugar drinks and strong sunlight are leading causes of cataracts. $25 restores 1 person's eyesight and allows a child to return to school instead of caring for the blind.
D.
Very pleasant. Had a lovely coffee at the Victorian cafe.
K.
Love this little shopping complex. Really nice shops and they do cool events here too such as the markets, with food stalls etc
I.
Has a unique feel amongst malls in Christchurch.
N.
A lovely place to have a relaxing cup of tea and some gorgeous shopping.
A.
Great shopping here. The building is stunning and the shop variety is pretty good. Wish the location was a little better.
H.
Fantastic shopping center. Lots of unique items from small buisnesses, artists and designers, tons of delicious food and a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend visiting this place
B.
Solid beer, slide in for some chippies while the missus has a shop. Lovely pub, didn't eat apart from fries, but the food looked top notch.
j.
Excellent baby shower at penny black great venue and yummy foid
L.
Love this place! Beautiful shops.
N.
Love the Tannery! Such cool shops I could spend hours! Spoil yourself with a treat from She Chocolat or enjoy an awesome lunch or dinner at the Brewery and check out all the cool shops!
W.
A nice, old-fashioned group of shops. Lots of small quality stores. Interesting, unusual things that you'll not likely see in modern stores.
R.
Quirky and cute, you don't need to go to Sydney for the cutsey old fashioned mall experience
B.
Victorian style mall has quickly become an iconic destination in Christchurch. Worth a visit for the interior alone, but some time at Blue Smoke or The Brewery for a beer and Pizza comes also recommended.
J.
Small intimate theatre's, comfortable seating. Usually a good selection of films. Many of the film's sjown here aren't available at the larger cinemas.
T.
nice classical building, looks very old, but isn't. Mostly clothing shops though, but the brewery is super nice.
C.
Great service food really good and reasonably priced.
E.
I know it's great and all, but there's something I dislike about being in here, surrounded by wealth and pompery when situated not far from some of the poorest parts of town. Ah well, I suppose a good place to forget about that!
D.
We went to the brewery. Good food, service was polite and efficient, meals came out in good time. I got the heathcote pizza and the xtra pale ale.
R.
This place is simply stunning. Great places to shop. The food places are fabulous and innovative. Highly reccomend the tannery.
S.
A brilliant wee "mall" with none of the feel of the big Westfield centres - lots of unique shops and creative options. Maybe not the place if you are looking for a bargain but perfect for quality, often nz made or designed products.
K.
Cool boutique shops and yummy food places. Shops are bit more expensive than your usual but some stock lots of local and kiwi made stuff so is worth it.
D.
One of the best hidden secrets in Christchurch shopping centre. Great food options as well. Highly recommended. ♥️♥️
I.
Wednesday night burger and a pint of Milk Stout Nitro for $30 just can't be beaten!
J.
This place is worth a visit....great boutiques and coffee places....love it
C.
Lots of great shops, fantastic food choices and bars, and a fantastic cinema.
J.
Luxury shopping. Good setting just very hard to find parking.
R.
A quirky mall with interesting shops like an apothecary and interesting items on display one day there where steam punk guns on display in a chicken wire case. You won't find any of your usual mall shops at the tannery, love it.
t.
Probably the best shopping experience in Christchurch if you are looking for something special or simply want to treat yourself. Lovely artisan shops, cafes, restaurants & now even a cinema.
S.
A really lovely place. Somewhere quite different from any other shopping experience.
A.
Sophisticated shopping experience, unlike the busy chaotic mainstream malls, just coming here for the charming atmosphere and architecture is worth your while.
B.
Excellent venue. Had a function here recently and it was amazing. Good food, great atmosphere and an amazing building made for an overall great evening.
c.
Great place to visit. And shop for those different styles
V.
Gorgeous place for many reasons. I just love the decor and shops available.
T.
Went to the movies last night at the Tannery.
Great cosy theatre and the cost was not exorbitant like the Hoyts movie theatres.
We will be at The Tannery next tuesday night again.
J.
Went for a dinner organised in the mall and had a great evening. Not went for shopping but been advised it may be pricy. Still, a nice and historical place.
M.
Love the décor, lot's of interesting places to browse.
F.
Just had time for lunch before heading for the airport. So many boutique stores to visit next time in Christchurch. Lovely food and great service .
A.
Good atmosphere, lovely boutiques and cafés, nice architecture to spend some time wandering around! Nice cinéma too!
G.
Always a delight to stay at the Hilton.
O.
A must go to if visiting Christchurch
J.
Just a great place full of boutique shops
E.
Boutique shops and cafes, usually only frequent the brewery... the brewery get 5 stars!
S.
Cool wee set of shops, not keen on the car park but its not the worst lol
D.
Great little shopping mall with some great cafes and pubs. Even a movie theatre at the back. The clothes are quite pricey but some of the sale items are not too bad.
D.
Incredible shopping with lovely boutique retail outlets. Quite a special place and a must visit while in Christchurch
J.
pretty upscale mall but without a lot of things other than the good vibes - suitable if you like small trinkets and random things
S.
Good for ambience but not great on shopping and coffee. The coffee, chocolates and cakes were not worth
M.
Great place for boutique shopping and cafes.
K.
Plenty of really cool shops around and some lovely cafe's and cinema. Definitely worth visiting.
j.
Great snacks and good gift shopping opportunities
R.
Beautiful little boutique mall in Christchurch!
J.
Lovely place. Great cafe
D.
Visit too short! Atmosphere inspiring, looking forward to returning soon.
R.
Lovely boutique mall, amazing shops and food
D.
💜
C.
Great pub. Proper beer. Good food. Friendly and helpful staff. Music too loud and for the under 25's
A.
If your looking for something different and want style, look no further this place has a good range of shops that aren't your avgerage mall shops which makes for a great look around. The main part of the Tannery is a restored building which has lots of light and takes you back in time.
D.
Excellent service and a very good pizza washed down with refreshing beer.
K.
Great food and craft beers.
Nice airy outdoor dining.
J.
Well worth a visit. Very nicely styled refit of the tannery buildings, great bar and cafes
G.
Interesting building, nice shops but they are expensive. Not somewhere you pop to get some clothes or a snack but it is good for presents or high end products.
A.
Like stepping back in time. A place of grandeur. Wonderful service at the cafe adjacent to the theatre.
