Reviews of Matakana Village
love this place to stop , shop and have a bite to eat. Close to Pt Wells for a quick dip
Third time here. Large choice menu food is great and brunch prices very good. Try the homemade coconut bread - excellent
Quaint little town. We did a lunch stop and went to the pottery gallery which is great if u want to get a unique gift from here.
Interesting market. Love the stalls there, classic and nice. Sakura is the right time. Should go when you are free.
Went to movies there. Great cinema and nice little village
Very cute village. Loved the real fruit ice cream trucks around :) Still gotta try out the Matakana Farmers Markets on Saturdays.
So grate place for shopping on Saturday.
Lively vibrant spot, the Saturday markets are great, with lots of homemade goodies, secondhand goods and excellent food stalls. Well worth a visit.
Nice variety of shops
Parking was convenient
The Saturday Farmer's market is very nice. Great fresh produces, delicious street food you don't find in normal shopping mall, it's even got live music performance. Good food, good music, good experience over all. Just a few things to be aware of, the market is outdoor, so the weather can have major effect and the traffic getting there from Auckland can be quite bad sometimes. I'd check with Google Map the see the traffics if visiting during long weekends.
Absolute mad house on Saturday mornings, crowded to the point that it is hard to move about freely.
However great variety of goods, and a good selection of organic produce.
Well worth the visit if you can handle the crowds.
Lovely little village. Variety of boutique shopping options and bars/cafes. Very pleasant time spent browsing and enjoying the hospitality.
A nice little place. Worth stopping over and explore many shops there. They also have kayak river tour .
Just loving the quality baking at Ringawera.
Quaint village to chill for coffee or lunch.
Excellent Farmers Markets every Saturday morning, huge array of fresh produce and all types of food available. During the week the tiny town of Matakana is just bustling with people everywhere. Parking can be difficult at peak times, be patient, Aucklanders think they own the place.
Always a great outing...diverse restaurants and cafe's...lots of boutiques and a lovely bookshop...very pleasant staff
Excellent foodies market with loads of homemade goodies and fresh treats to eat there or take home. Oysters, mussel fritters (stall at back corner near creek), crepes, mexican and fresh fruits just to name a few.
First trip up, loved the markets. Great stalls, great food at the Cafe and wonderful live performances
Cozy and artsy town.
The market has local and homemade products. There are a lot of people visiting the place, so you spend a good time in the traffic to arrive there.
Love the Oyster from the market. cheap and fresh
Great place for a fun food visit.
Loved the food awesome market products highly recommend
Was OK. Good atmosphere
Lovely but busy
I went to the market next door Arts Craft and Collectables an awesome selection of goodies
Great range of vendors and fresh local produce
A very enjoyable walk around
Fantastic little village, clean with everything you need

Great place to visit if in the area when the markets are open. Good food choices and very interesting displays of goods
Food is very good, massive free parking lot.
Great market and has a good atmosphere especially with live music. Nice selection of food - even oysters ! A great morning out.
Really nice market atmosphere, often with live music. Can't go wrong here but parking can be tough because it's so popular.
Cute little village with lots of eating places.
Great place for a fun food visit.
Thé best saturday morning market of New zealand for me
Living on Stanmore Bay, Whangaparaoa this is a quick trip up to Warkworth, and then a few minutes until you see this buzzy little haven.
Besides the parking, you can find everything within a kilometre radius, so bring your walking shoes and sunglasses. Nice people with a mix of Artisan and Organic and Naturally grown local fare. Fresh food to eat, taste and sample, its got clothes for her, surf for the kids and a great pub for Dad.
All good, you should definitely drop by for a local icon (10 years)
Awesome weekend getaway from Auckland. Recommended to visit the markets. Less that an hour drive from Auckland. Just be careful with the weekend traffic...
A must do for Auckland's and visitors alike. The wild Western village of Auckland's Saturday morning experience. Great foods, wine and cheese. !
Fantastic little village, clean with everything you need
Nice little place with a good atmosphere. Shops can be a bit pricey and parking hard when busy, but it is done to the best it can be.
This is my home village where I go for shopping and socializing. My favourite part of the village is the free stall, run by friend Delwyn Sharp who is a singular recyclist. She gathers things that people don't want and makes them available to people who need them. Her parents owned the land where the Morris and James pottery now exists and she lives in a house built for the Dairy Factory. Matakana has a vibrant and interesting history underneath the flash and dazzle most people see when they visit the market. Delwyn is a generous free spirit and she is a reminder of the old Matakana I'd hate to see go forever.
Great range of vendors and fresh local produce
Beautiful small village outside of Auckland and very close to Omaha beach. Go for the market every Saturday it's awesome
Such a fun area to explore and so many treats... do venture further along the road too...
Best Farmers Market around! Great vibe and nice fresh food/drinks.

Lovely market, wonderful people and lot of variety. Enjoyed the visit on the way to Tawharanui Peninsula.
Love the markets - the food, produce and live music are always great!
Bought awesome comfy pants there. Also fish burger is very worthwhile
This Village is a hot spot for week end outings, lots of Market Stalls to buy real hand crafted items.
Was not expecting people to be so friendly and a really nice atmosphere with live music.
Long drive there, such a lovely little market place.
Super busy, but lots of yumminess. Picturesque setting along the river. Go.
A must go place. But allow more time, always has traffic jam. My worst experience is 3 hours...
