Staff are nice and deals are good. Products are quite expensive, very if not on offer, but they are really good at quality and I've never worn through anything from here yet, neither has the stitching blown. They have started doing recycled materials too, which I am massively for.

I went into Macpac looking for a jumper and thanks to the great help from the manager (i think; tall with foreign accent) I bought a fleece hoody that is awesome- so happy with it. She was super helpful and informative about the product and really patient with my questions! Thanks so much, really appreciate the time, we'll definitely come back!

Macpac make good gear, which I have been using since they manufactured it in NZ. Indeed, my Ascent XPD, made in Christchurch in 2002, is still in service (in part thanks to some canvas repairs at Topz Shoe Repairs). And today's stuff seems just as robust. Having made four or five purchases in the Nelson store in the last few months, I would on the whole rate the staff for knowing their stuff. But for heaven's sake, don't buy anything if it isn't 40% off! They do it every 14 days or so anyway, so you won't have to wait long, and you're only remunerating the lamentably now offshore investors in this once proudly kiwi brand...

Josh what a star - I phoned from Auckland trying to track a walking pole ferrule he has gone above and beyond and even if he can’t find what I want he is trying hard to and after three shops today - one Macpac one Kathmandu and one Bivouac store in Auckland who just said no don’t have Josh in Nelson Macpac stands out for his customer service and going that extra mile.

Nelson has a new store for MACPAC. We took advantage of their 40% opening discount and bought new sleeping bags. The store was very busy but there were plenty of staff and we got the undivided attention of the sales person. He was very knowledgeable about the products and had an obvious interest in the great outdoors. We like the fact that MACPAC employ sporty people to sell their products. A young man called Joshua Wright was very helpful and friendly.
