The woman who owns MD Outdoors is so helpful and clearly enthusiastic about what she’s doing, she made shopping there a fun experience for us. Shes helping me get my tent repaired, and even opening up channels for New Zealand to get access to more climbing and canyoning hardware that was not previously shipped here. She cares about selling you what you want not just what they have in stock. Also this is the only shop I’ve ever seen that stocks canyoning gear!

I'd give this place 6 stars if I could! Exceptional service and only the best gear!

Wonderful experience obtaining advice on my wife's pack even though was not able to make a purchase as stock was not available. Really felt that advice was unbiased by commercial considerations. Would certainly go back

Great customer service! Very helpful and knowledgeable, Rocky got me all kitted up for canyoning. There was one item he didn't have in stock the day i went in, but he got it in especially, in time for my trip! Will definitely be back. Also love the new opening hours!

Absolutely fantastic. I walked in and was instantly greeted by a lovely man named Rocky. He talked me through all the canyoning and climbing gear i could possibly need. Can't say i normally enjoying shopping, but this shop was top notch. Cannot wait to get sending.

This is the place to go in Nelson for outdoor equipment, they have all the good brands. Much better than the other new Zealand outdoor shops selling own brand stuff. I bought new leki trekking poles. Staff super helpful and friendly, also could order a specific product if they didn't have it in stock.

Great service. Needed a part for my trekking pole. They called the supplier to find out which poles have the same part and sold me the part taken from a pole they had in stock. Could not have asked for more. Thanks

If you're looking for mosquito coils in Nelson, then this is the place to go. Unlike some other outdoor shops where they look at you like you've grown an extra head when you describe what you're after.

Owner is incredibly helpful! Went in there not knowing a huge amount about what I was buying, left just trusting him and very very happy with the purchases! Highly recommend!
