We’ve been replacing all our gear after it was stolen over the holidays and these guys have been invaluable. Excellent product knowledge and incredibly dedicated to getting you into the right equipment and not into what gives them a big sale. Excellent service and knowledge. This place is amazing from the moment you walk through the door. Very friendly crew. I only went in to ask a few questions but eventually left happily spending money with them. Some of the worlds best gear available in New Zealand. Al the touring and backcountry gear you can dream of.

Great selection of high quality gear. Specialised backcountry shop with avy gear, splits, etc. also check out the Snowboard Workshop (at the back of the store) if you want your gear tuned to perfection.

Awesome place! Looked for hiking items everywhere and nobody sells anything near the quality/price/items I needed. I’ve been buying ski gear from Small Planet, for over a decade - they have great options for me and the family at all price points. The staff really know their stuff and will work tirelessly to get boots fitting properly. I recently had some new gear fail (not their fault) and they worked with the importer to get an amazing resolution. In these days of sterile corporate outdoor stores it is awesome to be able to support a genuinely local crew!

By far the best outdoor equipment store in Queenstown. I've visited all of them. Small Planet has knowledgeable staff who offers real advice and help you find the right product. In the other stores, many of the salespeople are transient young travellers who simply cannot offer the same level of expertise.

Astoundingly these guys seem to be the only outdoor store in Queenstown who actually know their stuff. Eddie and Skyler we're Amazing and so patient helping me select and fit 2 pairs of boots. The Planet needs more shops like this and less of the big box type shops. These guys were so knowledgeable about the products they sell and the sports they represent. Very Cool Shop!!!!

Helpful staff with a large selection. There are two stores next two each other under the same name, with the left one focused on snowboarding (and separate rental shop upstairs) and the larger store on the right more focused on skiing (I believe) and general outdoor gear.

Most knowledgeable staff in town. I must have called over 10 places trying to find fuel for my MSR Whisperlite stove. Nobody had a clue what I was talking about, but tried to sell me something else. A gentleman at this store kindly informed me that you can only buy white gas (it has other names too) at petrol stations in New Zealand. Never would I have thought to look there. I wanted to hug him, but instead I wrote this review.
