Huge area, the future of which seems far from certain. One of the biggest empty spaces I have seen in Auckland which is great for walking or running. It had a lone security guard on the entrance when I went there in September 2021. Paths and beautiful long grass. Of course your imperial distance markers are already in place ! Use it while it is still there.

-Sunday market from 6am-Noon - $3 parking - Fresh fruit and vegetables at affordable prices $. Best to go around 0730 to avoid foot traffic. - Fresh sea food sold in bulk and by the Kilo prices $-$$ - Food stalls around selling Island donuts, Asian food/ cakes coffee $ if no seats are available to sit and eat, walk around to the grand stand plenty of room there - clothes and niknaks are also sold here. Fishing hooks, gardening tools, kitchen knives etc under grand stand. Worth checking out if your up early on sunday.

Was attending the West Zone Rugby Tournament for Intermediate Schools. Quite nostalgic being back here for inter school, inter club sports from the late 1980's - 1990's for my children, now my grandson. Good to see the inner fields are still being used. It has certainly seen better days, even back in the days when we use to attend the horse race meets. We had some very enjoyable times. Definitely needs some TLC, in fact not sure whether the clubrooms/stadium is still in use. Sunday morning markets are still very busy, and obviously traffic is bedlam. If you're coming to the market be an early bird🐦

Love going to the markets, it's the second Sunday since lockdown, bought me a toy stuffed cat from the SPCA stall, ate my pork buns from the pork buns caravan. Strawberry season is here so YES bought strawberry punnets, yum!

Went to the Sunday flea markets and was pleasantly surprised. Awesome market atmosphere with friendly vendors and market officials walking around. Not a lot of food and drink stands but plenty of the normal random stands/trades and more of fruits and veges. A competitive market with very cheap fruits and veges. Area is a little run down but that's all part of the fun. Would definitely go again.

This location has the largest open air market in the coutry every Sunday morning. Amazing Fresh fish, furniture, clothing, fresh vegetables and flowers, car boot offerings also much much more. If your looking for an experience, and something at a reasonable price go along you won't be disappointed. Cheap onsite fundraiser parking onsite also if it's raining take an umbrella. Whatever the weather you'll hear all the asian and Polynesian languages spoken here. And whether new or antique you'll be beguiled in your search to find the treasure you seek... Make an offer on everything you will be pleasantly surprised by the bargins you buy... Share your smile you will get so many more back.. Have fun!

Great market for fresh produce and second hand clotes and bric a brak

Good ground with many artificial pitches available for use. Entry to the grounds is a bit off and a walk and you have to trudge though thick grass and hop over a two fenced to get to the ground which is especially hard with your kits. The pitches are great, no problem there. The outfield are sometimes slow as the grass has grown a bit, but still playable, less boundries seen here.

Excellent Sunday farmers market and flea market. We usually go there every Sunday, come rain or shine. Huge range of assorted fresh fruit and vegetables at (usually) well below supermarket prices. A very run down racecourse, I like how it still has all its own original buildings most probably from my Grandfathers Grandfathers dads uncles years. ? It is also used every Sunday for flea markets. Which can be a bit of hit and miss on some Sundays. When the Markets are good they have a huge range and variety of alsorts from food to clothing to house hold to everything in between and more and theres usually something for everyone. You get to see a mix of weird and wonderful things, at times including people. This is what makes the visit more memorable. When the markets are not that good is usually because of weather not being suitable or due to some public holidays. You have to try most things at least once just to say "Yes, I have been there and I have done that" and then share your experiences with others.

Always good for fresh veggies.

Avondale racecourse is itself known as wests best racecourse , add to it is the fleemarket New Zealand's biggest such market .All Sundays you will find basically all your needs fresh vegis, clothing, hardware,seafood, farming tools flowers you name it it's there, one has to visit to believe . Kids favourite foods call it as a festive Sunday Parking facilities are fantastic just one has to use a bit of commonsense as how to utilise the facility. Thanks to the Authorities.

Basically a racecourse for horses it's main use has become the home of the Avondale Sunday Markets (7-12 am) which is the largest in the country. Everything from fresh produce to bric-a-brac is here for sale and entertainment.

The racecourse is well worn wear and tear hasnt had an upgrade for many years there is still horse racing here with at least 1 meeting a month. The fields in the middle were highly used for rugby and touch but not as much used like year's back. A regular weekly bingo or housey happens there..and of course the huge Sunday market.Now they have a security guard to check for illegal substances.
