We did a little scavenger hunt there, and it was a nice little evening there. Not too many trees (unless you count the little woods on the edges but unusable for a picnic and such) but they were playing fields so to be expected

I had no idea that community members and groups use Porritt Stadium for exercise and training. I observed hurdles, runners, walkers, soccer training, sprints trainging, physio/massage sports therapy. And just follow the little path around to another field and into a hidden passage beside a creek trickling with water. Its was very peaceful.

Soft surface running track open to the public during daylight hours. Loads of different groups use it as well - check the website. Lanes 1 & 2 closed for casual use. Lane 3 has some wear on one corner (as at 4 Sep 2020), but overall quite good. Not too exposed to wind etc. Toilets available. Haven't checked out showers etc.

Great place to run! nice variety of surfaces, 400m track, cross country course and some paved paths around the vicinity. I love that the athletic track is available for free public use. Just watch for roaming dogs when running on the grassed areas out the back and lock up your valuables or keep them in eye sight.

The places is hugeeeee, and clean. There's all types of sports games there and the field track is just beautiful

Love porritt stadium. Its a great place to take the dog for a walk and they have a running track

Lovely freedom campers, very hospitable, was a joy camping there.

Nice and quiet stay for three nights there are open toilets beneath the stadium plenty of rubbish bins though prefer that you take your rubbish with you

Great park to relax or take a walk

The only freedom camping spot so far, for resting up for 3 days at a time, in self contained campers legally. Is nice and secluded, must keep area clean and tidy. During school days, sports events are on and parking can get pretty tight, though can enjoy the events.

Porritt park is a great place to stay while in Hamilton. It's just down the Rd from our daughter's so nice and handy. We have stayed here a few times with lots of other travellers. Have always felt safe. A definite stop for weary when passing through. Sadly no views of anything much

Great facility for the community. Easier access to the stands would be helpful as the stairs are very steep. Great amount of shade trees to sit under on the grounds around the track.

Clean, tidy and popular to track runners. Plenty of parking and field space

Hardly changed in 40 years Same stadium, same running track except now instead of the hard smooth surface it's now the soft rubbery style of surface which is spike friendly There's 3 additional playing fields around Not much else to say really

A large arena with lots of capabilities for different athletic sports. Including (I may miss some) a large track, discuss enclosure, shot put area, a grand stand, a long jump pit, a high jump mat and hurdles. Theirs plenty of shade for spectators and the steep bowl shape of the grass embankment allows spectators to see.

Good safe place to park if your living the campervan life :)

Great parking down driveway. Another beautiful asset in Hamilton, New Zealand. Home of Hamilton Wanderers. Booking requests to use the stadium can be made by visiting the HCC website and completing an Excel spreadsheet. Sporting code facilities available at Porritt are for athletics and soccer.

Great area with lots of space to wait in. It has great facilities and the toilets seem to be cleaned regularly. porritt stadium is a great place to host athletic events.

Haven’t been to any sports stadium for running. Exhausted. Toilets need cleaning and at least better no urine smell.

Good for athletics sport if you are a school

Our family loved the Cologate games. Great venue. Parking was easy (thankfully the weather was superb. Thank you Athletics NZ and Cologate.

Stayed 1 night being fully self contained some of the other folk were rather dubious we think probably on drugs

Good park to walk the dogs. Just bear in mind weird man that lives close to gates who mows the lawn follows you to check you pick the dog poo up.

Pretty good, great for all that sporty stuff but i wish the big seats were just a little more cleaner

Fantastic athletics facility. Visited by many parents and the children for inter-school sports etc. Nice setting and usually plenty of parking.

First time visiting the stadium, for Colgate Games 2019. Good facilities. Both in the stadium and the surrounding fields.

My school has their athletics here. We had it start of 2019 and the heat was so unbearable. With a massive school, there was no place to sit at that wasn't on fire. Still rate it 4/5.

Our kids enjoyed themselves thoroughly, weather held, Colgate Games 2019. Te Puke Amateur Athletics, strong and proud.

The sports facilities are up to date and of good quality, the people are very nice and the competitions are always fun and exciting to compete at.

It's a good place to watch the children play rippa rugby, running races and other events. Loved bringing the bbq

Loved our visit to Porritt stadium, the grounds were immaculate.

Lots of space, if there's no event running then you can have free use of the running track. Usually pretty quiet

Porritt stadium is a great facility but needs to update there drinking fountains

Apart from the athletics track, soccer field & little bush walks, it's a nice place for a picnic.

Great, but badly needs a disc golf course.

Plenty of parking, buses can usually go in and do drop off and pick up. Massive sports field, public toilets etc.

(Translated) Perfect overnight parking for self contained. It is not very well signposted, the places are not demarcated but there is space. Have a good stopover. There are even public toilets under the stands. (Original) Parking idéal pour une nuit pour self contained. Ce n'est pas très bien signalé, les places ne sont pas délimitées mais il y a de l'espace. Bonne escale. Il y a même des toilettes publiques sous les gradins.
