Reviews of Woodhill Mountain Bike Park
L.
This is mountain bike where you can hire a bike to do a tour to many level. There is also free "disc golf" next to them but if you don't have a disc, then hire it for $5 per disc. We got lot of fun for disc golf with family and kids. Next time will try mountain bike . Tree advance ture is next to it. Remember gate to mountain bike close at 5.30.Toilets are on site.
k.
Love woodhill, whether was a bit hot so tracks very dry but still an amazing time
E.
Very good mountain bike park. Well worth a visit. Most ages can enjoy. The tracks they have are all well maintained but can get really sandy in the summer months but I guess they cant do much about that. You can go all year round but it's most fun for me at least around September time when it's less sandy and hot. This place also has a shop a place where you can hire bikes a big pump track in the carpark. Carpark can often get really busy.
I also found that signage is a bit poor around the back area of the park. I know where I'm going because I've been here many times before but some first timers may get confused where they're going. It's not a major issue but I thought it was worth mentioning.
D.
Conveniently close to Auckland City, huge bike park, well maintained trails.
Best in spring, winter and autumn. Summer can be very sandy and loose, but if one of the few places you can ride when there's been a lot of rain
P.
Friendly staff. Trails a bit dry, but that's the weather's fault. Only place in Auckland for a decent ride. Coffee is excellent too!
O.
If you want to enter the Mtb tours you pay 15 nzd per person, there is Mtb, helmets and Mtb repair, toilets and picnic area beautiful place. and excellent circuits for different levels of Mtb.
P.
Love this place!
Great for MTB or EMTB riders.
Best in winter as very sandy in summer but still rideable.
Trails are extremely well maintained and sign posted.
Helpful and friendly staff.
Highly recommend.
H.
Amazing bike track as you can see in my pictures. They have huge bike park with various tracks for all different levels. We just tried few track for beginners for 2 hours and we loved it. Also, they have a good quality of their rental bikes.
J.
Really well maintained trail which works in almost all weathers. Many downhill sections to enjoy which is quite different experience for a road bike rider like me. I found it’s more about technique than pedaling in downhills :) good fun. Will definitely go back. Recommended anybody enjoys outdoor activities even you’re not really cyclist :)
D.
It was a very hot day Early Feb. Need to take plenty of water to keep hydrated. It was my first time and so went on beginners track. It was ideal however in parts I found it like cycling on the beach. Very sandy. Only fell off once. Lol
C.
Nice Park at a decent price! Prices are constantly on the rise but atm $15 for at least 3 hours of fun is very good! I can easily get 3 good runs out and push for a fourth! Some tracks are super speedy and others have some nice little "pops" and jumps! I would recommend to mountain bikers as far as the bombay hills!
A.
Great trails nice veriety first time here and had alot of fun!
W.
Great place to ride. Sandy in places. But trails for all ages.
G.
Awesome riding for all skill levels
L.
Amazing place to get into mountain biking. A good range of courses from beginner to advanced and the staff are all really friendly.
$50 bike hire for two hours includes everything you'll need bar a water bottle!
s.
What cool place I be there ever firday. New truck to ride. Look at my YouTube channel, sg minchin
K.
Great service, had a tumble and assisted with getting me back to base. Friendly and helpful. 💯
L.
This is a great place to ride. Friendly staff, great Mocha and coffees. Very friendly and social people riding out on the trails to talk to. I really enjoy Woodhill for the friendliness of the people riding there. 😁👍👍👍
G.
Totally recommend the workshop service. Stefan did a complete service and upgraded a few parts on my full suspension bike. Probably the best value in Auckland at $139 for full service + parts but also excellent service - thorough, genuinely cares, quality independent advice and really good communication along the way. I've tried numerous LBS's around Auckland over the years and this experience with Stefan and Woodhill was by far the best.
T.
Rental bikes are not great but the trails make up for it, awesome little gem!
R.
Great park, crew are always updating and maintaining the trails. The regular spot for most Auckland rider, plus you can always hire gear if you dont have your own. Pie van on the weekends is always nice too!
K.
Totally superb. Great new 2016 trails, awesome staff. An absolute must do for Auckland based mountain bikers or tourists wanting an awesome day out. New trail network is starting to really take shape. Now features some fast downhills with great flow. Best part is they work in almost any weather.
E.
Super amazing experience!!! Me and my brother hired full suspension mtbs for the day and it was one the best days we had in NZ! The staff set up our bikes to make sire we'd make the most of it and we had a fantastic time up & down the park they meticulously prepared and kept. Make sure you buy some water before you leave as there is no fountain near the park. Absolutely suggested, best fun!
A.
Staff weren't super friendly or helpful. Other than that though, the trails are pretty good (a lot of uphill to get to the good ones though) and the jump park at the bottom is very well maintained and runs excellent!
A.
Good riding but pretty pricey conpared to say rotorua where its free...
J.
Great park, great facilities. Varied trails and skill levels catered for. Still needs a little polishing to be on par with Rotorua parks/trails though.
M.
My Partner and I have visited Woodhill a couple times now, and never are we disappointed! The tracks are so much fun, for all experience levels, and the nature is amazing to escape the city life. The staff there are always friendly and helpful. One of the gears on my partners bike was slightly faulty (this did not affect his great experience) and the staff kindly discounted our overall price of our visit. This wasn't necessary and was a lovely gesture of apology from their staff.
Thank you Woodhill, we will be in back again soon and recommending you to all of our mates!
C.
We turned up with a pram and 5 yo and two adults, we got turned away not ideal for kids : one parent only Could take our older boy around the track while other waited in car park. Does not suit for a family day our more one adult helping one child
J.
I ride Woodhill as often as I can, sometimes three times a week (and it's a 45 minute drive from home). It is a great bike park that grows on you. Good service from the crew is an added extra.
B.
Always well groomed trails, excellent obstacle management, signage, etc. Improvement on the amenity front has seen plumbed in bathrooms installed since my last visit. Not an essential but a definite improvement on the porta loos that had been there previously. My only gripe is not even mine. If you're renting a bike make sure you give it a proper eyeball before going out on the trails. I had a mate rent one previously and the bike popped its chain. Ensure you bring a multitool, an inner tube and a snack if you intend to spend a few hours in the forest and (broken record time) let someone know you're going here and ride to your ability. If you get hurt out here and no-one knows where you are you could be in a bit if strife.
T.
Good place to ride often. Sandy trails are better after rain. Good for fitness as mostly XC, has some good flowing desents with nice berms. Mostly blue and black grade trails, awesome for advanced to beginners. The new black trails are most fun with technical challenges. It is a bike park managed by friendly full time staff.
L.
Lots of options, super friendly people and helpful staff.
T.
Absolutely unbelievable experience super exciting great courses excellent bike bike hireage went out there with my brother so was absolutely amazing
B.
Getting crowded on the weekend now as the other riding areas in Auckland get too wet to be enjoyable.
M.
Nice trails for 2016, a good mix of trails for skill levels despite the loss of the older blocks. Trails are generally well maintained, in good condition, and good even in the rain. Current trails get quite busy, looking forward to more trails opening soon.
J.
Best Mountain Bike Trail for Family
B.
Something for almost everyone at Woodhill, the most advanced riders might not think of it as an everyday destination but for the less pro of us it's all good!
S.
The only cross country mountain bike park in Auckland. The team work hard to keep trails open despite nature playing havoc at times. I've had an annual pass for years.
There are two issues
First: the easy, beginner trails have gone and it takes a bit of fitness and experience to get to the easiest trails. Real beginners are better off at Totara Park or Massey University. Not the fault of the bike park.
Secondly: dogs are no longer allowed in the weekend. There are few places in Auckland where you can give an energetic dog a really good workout. My dog will stalk me if he thinks I'm getting ready to go to Woodhill and it's a real loss for the dog owning community.
S.
Great selection of trails, well maintained and ride well in the wet. Would go more often but live on the other side of town.
P.
Great bike park. I would suggest some basic mountain biking experience is required for the beginner trails. Sign posting of trails could be better, but trail routes are mapped out nicely and the trails are relatively well maintained. Cafe and bike maintenance onsite
C.
If you're into MTB'ing and you're in Auckland. You really need to go here. Recently updated trails. There's a little bit of most things. Jumps, Longish flowing downhills, a little bit of XC. And Wednesday nights is night rides, or at least it is for the group I ride with. Could do with shuttles for some of the further out tracks (for when I'm feeling lazy).
D.
Went for my first ride out there today. Amazing services, took a shuttle service from the city and hired a bike. Since im from Aus.
Trails were well maintained and sign posted, including a few techy DH sections. Will be going back again.
M.
Great park, would benefit however from a facility face lift and the addition of showers like Redwoods in Rotavegas. Tracks are well looked after and well sign posted. New tracks are still being cut.
L.
I could spend the whole day here... what a great place to mountain bike! Lots of variety, well maintained routes, great service and friendly staff! I'll be back 🚲 😊
R.
Tracks are really good, in all weather. Staff ok, but personally have been let down by their mechanics.
Edit. Was contacted by the bike park about my experience with the mechanic to get some more details after I posted this. Nothing was done to recify the issue though.
C.
My heaven in Auckland! Great trails riding beautifully at the moment and bike mechanic, shop and cafe darn good too.
u.
Great place to go for the whole family , over 70 kilometers of trails ,A proshop with lots of gear and great coffee, A workshop with a qualified mechanic , and a fleet of hire bikes all backed up by friendly knowledgeable staff eager to get you out enjoying the trails.
C.
This is a budding park in my view. This review is from the experience of the Frisbee Golf. The people have gone to a lot of effort to set up a very nice experience but the signage and organisation left a lot to be desired. This organisation is on the precipice of a 4 or 5 star rating but just needs to organise their frisbee golf course more clearly.
L.
Amazing well groomed trails, helpful staff and coaches. Plenty of parking but super busy most of the time.
M.
Amazing experience! Some trails for beginners (me) and a lot of more challenging tracks. Beautiful views from the top.
N.
Friendly staff, great coffee and brownies! Trails are fast and dry.
B.
Great bikepark. Lots of variety from just hopped on a bike to double black jump trails.
S.
Really enjoyed the beginner trails. For first time mountain biking
T.
Very good trail options for all skill levels. Great staff always ready to help. Workshop on site has saved me many times too.
J.
A really good for mountain biking but not many tracks if you are looking for a free ride track. However, they have a funny dirt jump track (advance level).
W.
Good but more trails are getting logged with few good replacements. Expensive..
A.
Awesome trails and some of the best staff ever! Love coming here every weekend.
n.
Great place to go on the weekend , well maintained bike tracks and suitable for all levels of riding.
C.
Great place but a fair drive from Auckland. $15 day charge for adults.
R.

G.

R.
