Reviews of Countdown Auckland Victoria Street West
P.
Been here done that. Return their missing trolleys which are all over the city, swap it for a free bottle of wine. A good swap considering trolleys cost around $300 each. Ask the store owner.
G.
Great store both before and during lockdown. Always well-stocked, clean, and with helpful and friendly staff. Only issue is that a small number of customers hardly socially-distance, but not the Countdown's fault (they always ensure a small number of customers are on the premises). Easily accessible to central locals, with public parking nearby.
C.
Great store and well stocked most of the time. Very clean with great variety.
4 stars because late evenings the green produce is sometimes no longer in stock and often there are beggars at the entrance making entry and exit sometimes awkward.
M.
Clean with a good variety. Prices are pretty high but expected for the cbd.
L.
Rupal (unsure how to spell it sorry, could've been Rabul) went above and beyond to help us today. We called and asked if there were any spare cardboard boxes we could use for moving house, and by the time we came in to grab them (and groceries), she had a trolley full of empty ones all flattened and ready for us and checked if we needed any more, and her and the guy stocking chips were both very nice about it. Much appreciated!
S.
Found a seagull here as I shopped. Good sized supermarket in the city centre, good range although not as extensive as the Britomart countdown. The prices are ok as well, and not the pumped up Metro store prices.
G.
Happy helpful friendly staff and lots of in-store specials love shopping here.
A.
Supermarket right in downtown to get all your groceries. Better to visit between noon to 2pm when the store is more likely to be fully stocked and less crowded.
I.
Got some frozen chips, was very good also not to busy
T.
Items to skip at this supermarket : meat and fresh vegetables so overpriced and some fruits at a $1
J.
Majority of shelves are well stocked Staff are polite and helpful. Good wide isles. Expect cues to enter due to covid 19
P.
If u are a city dweller, you will find pretty much everything you need here to quench your hunger...
J.
Good variety of produce. Well stocked shelves. Cleanliness could improve
N.
All good experience,I managed to get what I wanted in no time at all,Staff helpful and friendly,Good Deli department 👍 I will definitely go back there again.I will 😊🙋♀️👍
R.
Convenient for quick and easy shopping with the self check-out area. Be mindful of your purchase as I bought a moldy frozen pizza and got food poisoning from a can of countdown chicken.
A.
Always a well stocked mini market with a good variety of food ready to eat
j.
Under the circumstances of level 4 really good. Had alot of shelves fully Stocked. Keep up the good work
a.
My local supermarket lively friendly and good selection
S.
As countdowns go it good no aroma of rotten bannana or anything of the like
D.
Good variety of products at good prices. Got some great deals on wine also liked the cheese selection.
D.
You can find mostly everything you would need fir everyday use here. From fresh vegetables to ready made to buying things fir a party!! It is recommended to go here if you need any basic things.
C.
Good supermarket located near sky tower, but usually very crowded.
N.
Very clean and well staffed, even during the after work rush. Fresh fruit and veggies are right in front so it is easy to grab a snack.
G.
Hoarded Whittaker creamy chocolates and high manuka content honey here in addition to our daily snacks.
M.
Don't really like to shop here as too many people sitting on the side asking for change 😬
P.
This countdown store is a bit pricey due to the downtown location but they've got plenty of checkout machines so you're out there quickly even at rush hour. The selection isn't the best or most diverse but it's a good and convenient downtown shop. Good for a quick stop when you're out and about. With the limited space it feels a bit crowded at times but if you avoid the masses you can do a quick grocery shop in fifteen minutes or less
B.
With so many countdowns in the city you have choices... Victoria Street countdown provides you with what you need want or must have, but if it doesn't Quay Street countdown will be sure to have what you need want or must have...
P.
Yes The security guard helped me find what I needed WELL DONE SECURITY GUARD👍as I just popped in for some snacks n drink before heading back to wellies from the casino😊
R.
Nice range if items available
R.
good and complete super market. There is an indomie too.
V.
Super duper hit. Great place with reasonable price
A.
Located in the Victoria street, this countdown shop is really worth a visit. They have got a big collection of all the items you are looking for. There isn't much parking facilities available and the shop is a bit crowded in peak hours. Items are well arranged and the staff is cooperative & friendly. You can find all range of products here at a reasonable rate.
L.
Very fast self service.in out, fresh very clean.
T.
Great place but a metro “not a countdown store”(quote countdown) so doesn’t have all the same specials as the rest
But still go here for the small things
A.
Great location, busy supermarket walking distance from all the central apartments and hotels and sky city. It was very handy, wished it closed later during summer. Self checkouts are a pain but there was enough staff to help if needed.
L.
My big Ben pie always ran out of stock at the end of the day. Otherwise okay.
w.
Liked the easy entry and exit of the shopping center. Got in found what I wanted easy. The chicken was hot early in the morning .
J.
I don't think they've figured out the line system here properly. It always seems like a mess and unorganized. It's great there is a supermarket here, and it has pretty much everything you'll need, but lining up to pay is a bit of a wild ride. don't come at lunch time or after work. The lines are very long and take awhile. If you're a traveler and staying in the area, come in the evening time or early morning.
C.
It's a supermarket, not really much more you can say? It sells food and drinks which is exactly what you want from a supermarket
G.
A tiny bit pricey but a great assortment of products
S.
Well-stocked supermarket in the heart of town with fresh meats, fruits and veggies, cleaning items, organic and specialty products too...virtually everything you would expect to find in a very large store. They encourage reusable bags, self and assisted checkouts are available. They close promptly at 10pm. Expect to be sureldy hurried out the door.
J.
A smaller version of the bigger supermarkets, easy to find your way around, all necessities and then some, self-service checkouts are amazing
C.
Lines are always long after work hours, sometimes up to 10 minutes wait. It's quite small so obviously the range is limited, but it's location is very convenient. If you are after quick groceries this is probably the place but if you want to make groceries for the week I would recommend the Quay St countdown. I have still been to this place many times just due to its location so it's a four start from me.
N.
Good sized store with everything you need, and enough checkouts. Staff (filling shelves) not particularly helpful and dont seem overly familiar with where to find stock, layout is a little confusing. Fresh produce though and a good variety. Clean and tidy although sometimes a little smelly at front entrance with homeless sleeping very close by and beggars asking for money as you go in.
R.
Good supermarket needs to bring back Adidas deodorant A.S.A.P pĺease
S.
Nice and clean, wide selection. Cheaper than convenience stores. Not that large, about 2-3x bigger than a convenience store. Popular with backpackers. The fruit and vegetables are cheap ($2 per kg of apples, bananas and carrots). Milk was $5 for 3 litres. Oatmeal 5 for 1.5 kg. Peanut butter without salt 8 per kg.
A.
Great little supermarket if you are in town. Has a good assortment of all the necessities and some extra goodies and fresh fruit and bread.
Can get fairly hectic during the day but lines move quickly as people just buy a few things. Great store to have and much cheaper than dairies.
G.
The joint has half decent sambos and I can usually duck in for a quick purchase without being noticed by stalkers. I like to make my own combos like nailing a bounty bar afterwards, and chasing it down with some carrot juice which I finds adds vibrancy to my hair
J.
Only negative about this Countdown is the amount of checkouts. There is a decent amount of checkouts but not enough to service all of the customers (especially in the evening). The lines move quite quick, but it would look a lot better is there were more self service counters to keep things faster.
D.
This is my favourite supermarket whenever I am in Auckland. Great produce, fantastic deals and very clean place. It does get busy because it's an amazing place to shop for your groceries ... they even have a chilled room for wines and beers of all kinds.. the staff are very great too..
V.
Usual woolys style offering but staff are exceptionally helpful. I was carrying a 6month old in a baby carrier and basket of groceries and there were only self checkouts available. One of the staff member helped me scan and bag everything up until payment, truly a GEM (Going Extra Mile)
S.
Always very busy. It can be quicker to visit Countdown on the waterfront if you're wanting to make a quick stop before heading home from work.
Small store and selection can be a bonus if you're there during a quiet time.
Don't expect to get out quickly during rush our!
J.
Countdown is a very good place to do your shopping and it's very handy for me because it's only 2 minutes away from where i stay and the prices of thing's are very cheap and the staff are very helpful and if you after something and it's not on the shelves they will always go out of their way to help get it for you no matter what is is.
l.
Yes busy lil place but yes if you in a hurry to get something on the run no cashier person tho most are all card machines .This is handy as right next to my bus home just out front door
A.
If you want quality countdown is the place to be but it's not cheap there's always a good selection and I recommend making a list or you can buy more than you really need
M.
Very crowded inner city supermarket. Queues are very long at lunchtime. Lot of people go there to get lunch and quick grocery shopping. There are a good number of serviced and self serviced checkouts so doesn't take too long to go through check out.
A.
Nifty little Countdown in the heart of CBD - it has everything you need and is a lot closer than the City Countdown for folks living in Grafton. You will get some good offers here if you go in before closing time - but naturally the variety is limited. This is more of a midweek shopping destination than somewhere you should go to do the week's shopping. Make sure you grab the great deals they have near the fresh meat and cheese section whenever you visit. Parking may be a bit of an issue so walk down or take the bus.
S.
Smaller than some, but has all the necessities at reasonable prices. It had long checkout lines but they moved very fast and I never experienced more than a minute wait! Really busy but much better selections and prices than New World (with the possible exception of the kiwi prices that one time!) I'll make sure to go to Countdown instead of NW, every time!
G.
Countdowns are great in general, but I'm giving just 4 instead of 5 as in this one, most of the time, you have to endure long lines. It's a lot better nowadays actually compared to some years back. There are self check outs now plus the good old counters, but there could still be long waits especially during rush hours. Aside from that, it's a great place. Hopefully they can acquire more space in the future, then I can assure you a fantastic experience.
R.
A small store more like a deli.
The best thing about this store is a very friendly staff, always willing to help
c.
Usual stuff, good selection but it was bloody freezing in there. Not the warmest of days in Auckland today. However, air con seemed to have been set for a steaming hot day. I overheard other customers complaining. Apart from that. Good supermarket.
V.
Pretty sweet location to pick up some supplies
R.
Everything you need in one place. Staff are great too
S.
One stop shop for all things Grocery 💕
K.
Given that the store is in the middle of the city, it is fairly large and has a generous selection of products. It's near quite a number of hotels, and does have things that tourists need as well. The opening hours are great and are convenient.
T.
Convienient but quite small so it is lacking in some stocked items that larger countdowns have. Popular things are frequently sold out, and the staff are probably some of the most unhelpful I have encountered. I dont blame them though, this place is disgustingly busy.
M.
Decent sized supermarket in great location in Auckland CBD.
It is bright and well laid out so products are easy to find.
Check out is mostly with self service terminals, which requires a little patience. It did work with a foreign credit card.
A.
Slightly confusing layout and packed but the stock is lovely. Great fruit and veg, nice luxury treats. Bakery small but sufficient
B.
A major supermarket in downtown Auckland and very conveniently located. Found most of the essentials available including fresh food and fruits. There are many assisted and self checkout counters. Staff are courteous and helpful. Waiting time for checkout is maximum one to two minutes. It opens early and finish late.
M.
Great to have a Supermarket in Downtown or CBD Auckland, and love all the self-checkouts . Good size store so great product range.
Go here for your cheap sweets for the movies, perfect location.
J.
A reasonably large inner city or metro style supermarket meaning it's relatively compact. That said it's still fairly large with a good range of standard supermarket items on offer. Its sometimes won't have the full range of alternatives larger supermarkets will have but they do pretty well. Four lanes of checkouts 2 self serve and two operator assisted help to cope with large numbers of shoppers on occasion. As with any inner city venue parking can be an issue.
S.
Pick carefully the times you go there as you can wait up to 20 minutes from 4pm onwards. It's a pretty good super market for the size. I hate all the homeless people outside who sometimes block the entrance or are passed out due to drugs in front. At least twice a week there are homeless people drugged up outside which the super market needs to do something about
S.
It's a grocery store and it's food variety is great. Also there are some events taken place there.
K.
The Most famous supermarket in the city. Affordable price, You can find all the daily needs stuff in here. Need to bring your own bag or carry bag. Sometimes the price could be tricky if you are using the checkout machine.
I.
It's in a perfect spot, right next to the bus stop, if you are going to Block house bay
You can buy anything from it, while you are waiting in the bus stop.
A.
Best supermarket for groceries in terms of prices and overall selection. They have some good deals on fresh produce and a fair meat selection. I recommend getting a OneCard because it's free and saves you money in the long run. The website and mailer are updated weekly so browsing fro specific items are a cinch.
B.
Good choice to satisfy your daily grocery necessities
s.
This is an absolute blessing. Right in the heart of the city. Just a perfect place to grab some groceries and stuff. Very well stocked and everything is nicely presented. It’s usually so busy around lunch time yet the staff is so efficient and very organised.
S.
If you live in the CBD this is where you and everyone else does their weekly shop. Good range, good specials, understandably long queues, attracts the usual beggars lurking outside. A necessary part of peoples lives but not loved.
J.
Great variety of things too buy, Thanks.:)))
N.
Countdown Auckland Metro is awesome. I have been a regular customer here since it opened. If you live in the city, it is a good place to do your regular shopping. If you work in the city, it is a good place to buy your lunch. It has a large variety of lunch options, from ready to eat curries, and salads, to sushi and sandwiches. It has a good range of fresh produce as well. Kids can enjoy a free piece of fruit while you shop as well. During peak times there can be a small wait. The staff are friendly as well.
Y.
A small sized Countdown comparing to other ones. However, it is very handy to have groceries in the central city.
J.
It's small, the selection isn't always the best when it comes to produce (things run out... There have been times where I haven't been able to find basics like ginger or shallots), and it gets crowded as all hell and half the people there don't know how to walk in a straight line or get out of your way. But, it is conveniently located and the pricing tends to be better than the New World down the street.
c.
Staff great but I would give a five if product of cider i love get hardly get stock beers too you have to wait for 3 to 7 days to see it
J.
Well stocked, and reasonable pricing. Good amount of faux meat products around the back which is what you are loomig for. Conveniently located in the middle of the city on Victoria street. Downside that queues are huge at peak times, and there are not enough counters with cashiers. Half the time you'll have to use a self check out booth. There are also no trolleys so you'll have to drag your groceries around in a wheely or carry basket.
D.
Great inner city supermarket..
Smaller than the large countdowns so don't expect that they'll have everything..
But they will have 90%
Their checkout system is mostly self service.
They have someone there to help you if you need it..
And to keep the people moving through..
Would I come back 🤔
Most definitely 👍👍👍
A.
You don't get everything you get in their Suburb stores, so it's okay, when you need to do a quick grocery shop for today's dinner. Not good enough when you have a lot of shopping to do.
P.S: Queues in this store sometimes get so long, but they move pretty fast. Shout out to the staff for making that happen.
P.
Countdown is one of the popular supermarket chains in New Zealand. This outlet is located on the Victoria street. It is very accessible and you can even find a bus stop right outside the supermarket. It is good for grossery shopping. You can get almost everything here. Rates are affordable. You can also check for deals to get some additional discounts. This outlet is always busy so chances of you waiting in the queue for billing are high.
Y.
I used to go here all the time when I lived in CBD. It is usually quite full and the check out line gets really long. They have an ok range of goods. I am happy I don’t have to go their so often anymore though.
P.
Nice supermarket in the City. Open from 7.00AM to 10.00PM every day. Good range of product available and a nice deli counter for adhoc lunches.
J.
Good location, but the lines often reach the back of the store during peak hours. Avoid it between 12-2 and 5:30-7. Layout is atrocious - if you end up not buying anything, you have to weave through the crowded queue.
E.
Only self service. Small trolleys, Small selection
N.
A medium-sized grocery store, doesn’t have a massive produce selection but enough to keep me happy while living in the city. Yes, check-out lines look long, but go very fast as the cashiers are really trying to help move things along.
H.
Quite large supermarket with a wide variety of things offered. Prices affordable (by NZ standards), friendly staff. Self checkout works well, but plastic bags should better not be offered (they are completely outlawed in other countries). Using international credit cards is fine, contactless payment (NFC).
H.
Very convenient placement, as such it's always busy. It has everything you'd expect from a supermarket metro, and is about to be plastic bag free, which is good of them.
Baked goods and deli meats are always nice, it has a small international section and a decent range of wines as well as a fridge room for other alcohol.
The tills are for some reason split up weirdly, so it's hard to just get to a self service bit quickly and there's always confusion when someone waiting for a person on the till to serve them doesn't let self service people past and everyone's too awkward to ask what's happening. Combine this with CBD foot traffic after wirk and uni get out and you get queues reaching the back of the store.
No complaints otherwise. :]
R.
Always crowded but a really handy inner city supermarket. All the things which one requires on the hop.
The vegetables could be fresher I reckon. They frequently appear wilted.
D.
Got most things can be a bit crowded at times.
s.
Some low special offers, but not much in the way off the basics, like bread and milk but good service even with my green card.
A.
Just what you'd expect from a countdown metro I guess, it's often pretty busy and the queue looks huge but it moves really quickly.. I think it's expensive but I haven't been in NZ for long so I can't really compare that well.. I think it has a good selection of products and has a bottle shop in there as well.
M.
It's probably the only grocery store in the Auckland centre. That's why long queues often form. But the employees are very efficient and they get rid of the queues quite quickly. Well supplied, you find there everything you need
R.
Good selection inside, lots of homeless people in the doorway
N.
New Zealand's Woolworths! Amazing selection on inexpensive sandwiches/rolls
T.
Really liked this supermarket! Have everything!
S.
Cheaper compared to other places. I love cheap things!
D.
A good place for inner city shopping however the prices are steeper than out in the suburbs and the variety is not as good. At lunch times the line can be HUGE so you could end up waiting for 10 minutes before you get to the checkout. Try to avoid it at lunch time during the working week. Also, beggars tend to sit outside asking for money and smoking.
M.
Like New world but with a self checkout for the same price
K.
A very good supermarket in Terrace. Good choice, great display and arrangement. Easy to identify and billing, payment was seemless. The staff were helpful and customer service is good. The bakery items were fresh and decent.
T.
This Countdown store is really convinient for office workers like me. Drop in, grab the things or food I need and go! Store setting is cosy and comfortable, ample lighting. Customer service is great and staff are friendly. My complements to the Management of Countdown! Well done and keep up the good work! @trudroid
C.
Easy to enter, easy to exit. Helpful staff. A variety of supermarket good including basic smartphone accessories being sold there. It has a combination of self check-out and traditional check out options.
李.
The location is quite good.
A.
I was waiting in line to pay for my groceries when a sketchy, jittery fellow with a backpack, lined up behind me. When we were shuffling forward as the line moved, he pushed his way in front of me, then pushed his way to the front of the line, then walked past the cashiers, then walked straight past security and out of the store as the security guard followed him while calling the police. 10/10 entertainment would definitely shop here again.
T.
Not as big as other countdowns, but has what you need. It only has self checkout counters too, which I thought was really cool because I havent seen one with just self checkouts
S.
Had all the necessary ingredients for an Oreo cheesecake. Bit of a mark up because it's central, pretty much what you'd expect. Mostly worth it for convenience
C.
Smaller size countdown located right in the downtown of Auckland. The location is optimal as it is super close to the main bus stop. It's great if you need to pickup groceries before heading home after work or shopping around.
The store is small but has most of the essentials. It is often pretty packed and as quite a line up.
The fresh product section isn't really big and the variety isn't great. There is one type of tofu which is really expensive.
L.
Place is quite small to get around aisles with a trolley basket. I'm always getting bumped into by other shoppers. Not purposely jus not enough space. Even thou there is a long line to the check out it does move quite promptly. #shoppinghere2yearsplus
L.
As visitors to NZ we made mention to our checkout lady Dorothy that we assumed our "Woolworths rewards card" from Australia was not going to be of any use to us. But we were really appreciative when Dorothy enabled us to receive the discount all shoppers can receive when they have a rewards card. Really lovely gesture 💛
S.
you can find most of normal grocery stuff there. If you become a member of Onecard club you can find better deals and special prices. However, once I tried to find vegetarian susages there when I have realized that they do not have one.
V.
Pocket friendly store to carry out regular purchases. They are always offering various kinds of discounts on every type of purchase. Definitely cheaper dan your local convenience store.
D.
Can get super busy and quite messy after work hours, but that should be expected since it is the place of choice to purchase groceries. I appreciate the convenient location and the stock of essentials available
A.
A relatively small Countdown, and the price for each item is slightly more expensive - except those that are on specials. However, the location is conveniently in the middle of the city; Just remember to go there by foot, or using public transport as parking is a nightmare. The checkout is also extremely long, so spare plenty of time to be on the queue.
L.
Gets very busy but deals with the rush very well. Service is good usually and a good range of products for such a small store.
V.
Nice little shopping place ;)
C.
Whether day or night, this store is always overcrowded.
The staff does it best to manage this, but the waiting queue is mostly awful long. In addition the prizes are higher as in f.g. New Lynn, Blockhouse Bay, Grey Lynn or Mt. Eden.
Most of the offerings are fresh, but sometimes new goods (f.g. meat) stays a while beside the freezers. In addition, I wasn't able to find any frozen vegetables.
S.
The store is very small but the layout made it fell larger. Range of items is limited but would be more than sufficient for small on the go items.
A.
Great location. Small store. Always extremely busy. Avoid at 5pm/rush hour especially. Sometimes not stocked well. Staff hard to find if you need assistance. I find it pretty expensive too.
I.
Very handy if you're in the city. Not the greatest of selection as they are restricted to available space but enough selection to satisfy most needs. Typical Countdown issue of poor shelf labelling and sorting.
T.
Line is always right down the end of the supermarket. Sometimes people don't move in the line when there are free self service. They need to fix the queue issue and move people through more efficiently. Not as well looked after as the new world metro down the road.
A.
Smaller than your conventional supermarket, larger than your local convienence store. Also much cheaper prices.
Located in the heart of Auckland CBD, a great supermarket for the locals. Noticiably very clean and the produce is very fresh. They also have bread.
Would Recommend.
A.
Good place for a quick shop. Has all the necessities and a good bakery. Lines go fast and there's a good ratio of self check outs and cashiers.
K.
Probably the best inner-city supermarket. Much larger with more varied items than the New World Metro on Queen Street.
Be prepared for there to be a line stretching half way down the store, if you visit around 5pm on a weekday.
D.
An excellent shore friendly starf and a 1 manger Paul Maxwell and the best team in countdown you could ever have a+ around the bourd
S.
I buy a lot of groceries from this shop. The best thing about this shop is that the products are in high quality and is also sold at a lesser price. Do get their One Card and get rewards when you shop.
X.
Quick Service nice staff never disappointed
C.
Good to have on town, they've allowed for a lot of self check outs which is great as it keeps the line moving. Peak times are 5pm.and lunch time, avoid if you can ad it gets packed.
V.
They have a wide range of products and affordable price, in the heart of the city and just of the main street, walkable distance from AUT City campus.
L.
Really great experience. I was happy to find so many Indian Masala and sweets here.
V.
A great supermarket, everything you need for your groceries is available, you'll enjoy shopping there. Nice and clean, friendly helpful staff.💟🌻💟
L.
Just a wonderfully wide range of food cleverly laid out. Don't panic if you see a long queue for the checkout, as they have a good system and it moves quickly
A.
It is quite small but still has most things you need. Some places feel crowded especially around the fruit and veggies section
M.
This is a great supermarket for such a central location. There are always long queues for the checkouts but there are so many checkouts that the queues move quite fast. Big range of stuff.
N.
It's in the heart of CBD and the store closes at 10.pm. What a joke. Please increase the closing hours make it easy for the CBD people to do their shopping. Thanks. The customer service is pretty good too.
S.
Very busiest supermarket. We can get finest quality products here but quite expensive. Very hard to find a parking here as it is in center of Auckland city.
C.
Absolutely phenomenal. Can get busy but very decent prices for the centre of Auckland and very well stocked. Bravo.
S.
Onw of the best place to pick your weekly groceries and vegetables in Auckland downtown. It gets pretty crowded on Sundays, especially in the evenings. They run out of bread as well, by Sunday evening, but that's the case with most other places as well.
Get good offers especially if you have one card.
Inapite of having good number of checkout counters, checkout queues are always long and takes time.
D.
Long lines, but the staff does right by the customer. If you dont feel like talking to anyone fake some German. Lots of travelers come here, and most of the time the locals wont know what to do with you. Dont try Chinese unless you look the part. They'll know...
K.
Crazy Long lines during peak hours, understandable - there isn't much they can do that they haven't already done. OK staff. A no nonsense, quick, painless way to get shopping done. Just not fast.
L.
Convenient location, very busy at peak times, but lines go quickly. Missing some products. Has good deli food.
V.
Bustling little grocery store helpful staff and polites security
K.
Did too much of shopping, very convenient place for the people living in city.
A.
Its is a normal countdown. Now they have self checkout. Which is efficient and is fine with me. But not with everyone. Specially old people and non-english speakers
R.
Good selection of products.Supermarket is well stocked with variety in fruits, vegetables, meat, chocolates etc.Self and assisted check-outs available.
S.
Crowded and with queues. Handy in the CBD. Good staff resource. Prices may be greater than typical supermarket but expected.
F.
It will have basically everything you need for food. Can be crowded but that’s expected considering the location. I appreciate the self-serve checkout kiosks and person checkout.
M.
Not as big as the 24h one on Quay St., but still very good. Watch out for long lineups at checkout for the after-work rush. Looks worse than it is though as we waited it out and lines moved very quickly.
A.
This is a handy supermarket if you live in town but it often doesn't have the range of products that a larger countdown does.
E.
Only full size, although not very large, grocery store in the Auckland CBD. Good hours, open 24hrs most days, decent selection of food and convenience items, and within easy walking distance from most anywhere in downtown Auckland. They accept major credit cards and cash. Plastic bags are complimentary at checkout.
V.
Good selection of products. Lines are long at lunchtime, but they move quickly so you're not waiting very long.
H.
The range of goods is good enough for a CBD store but is often out of stock of a few items. Lines for checkouts can be horrendous during the lunch time rush
J.
Nice clean store, everything is laid out expertly and easy to find. Needed assistance from a couple staff members being a tourist and they were kind and helpful!
J.
Countdown in main central is so busy with customers, however the line is like 200 WAITING to be served, with nervous agitated customer..not enough counters to serve the needs of customers to be, I travel nationwide to view the best Countdown, I am not the one to Gossip? However? When main Central Countdown! You need more counters, At central Railway station? Hardly no shoppers there, What's the big deal with less Counters and more ATM machine, so you can view each customer credit card, I have been ripped off , one grand, my ANZ Bank ,and they turned a blind eye, People are a bunch of of Dummy, If any read this note and don't like what I say? Than challenge me! I do like shopping at Countdown. Yours Truly Captain Johnny Angel Cool..
A.
Great supermarket for centre city - doesn't have everything given that the store is quite small. Good selection all the same
A.
Deceptively large, well stocked, and thoughtfully laid out. It's my go-to when I'm in town.
s.
Great place to quick grab some groceries. But they have limited variety of vegetable and other stuff here.
D.
The range of goods is good enough for a CBD store but is often out of stock of a few items. Lines for checkouts can be horrendous during the lunch time rush
C.
Always love to shop here. You can get cheap seasonal vegetables and fruits. Usually I buy avocado.
C.
Small countdown with limited selection compared to their other locations. Always the craziest queue!! But it does move fast and it's still better than new world
M.
So much food easy to find in such a small area
k.
Some of the deli staff can be rather rude. And stand at back and ignore you. It it a good shop but try to avoid peak times as it can get really busy.
J.
New Zealand NEEDS Aldi. You guys are being ripped off. I can't believe what you pay for stuff here. Aldi buys from local farmers/producers and doesn't rip them off. Australia was being gouged by a few supermarkets until Aldi came and shook things up. Just be careful for wealthy supermarket owners trying to bribe MPs preventing introduction of competition. Be vigilant, NZ!
A.
Probably the best option as supermarket if you live in cbd, but don't expect much quality tough. Still, it's enough.
R.
Good and convenient. But it's always crowded in the evening. It has less variety of products too, compared to Countdown on Quay Street.
L.
There are more self checkouts now, so much faster checkout process. A lot more range than the New World down the road
B.
Convenient for a handful of basics. Not the best selection in some areas
A.
A great bunch of people for staff, the place is easy to maneuver through. Along with the Warehouse stationery store upstairs, this place has everything you might need for a household.
C.
Great location and times of operation, big thanks to the staff.
B.
Great customer service
K.
Don't have many specialty items.
Quite expensive.
People on the dole sitting outside asking for money.
E.
This countdown has a really great location in the shadow of the Sky Tower but is often busy after 5pm. It isn't that big but has everything you would need and is close by to the big hostels in the CBD.
H.
One of the busiest places on Monday n Friday.
Well maintained signage and the recent changes in organising fruit section was helpful.
J.
Small store not much selection of products and brands... But is ok for a quick top up shop or to grab something quick for lunch in Auckland City
M.
would have given a better rating if they will put more stuff. Sometimes, they would run out of stocks in their display
J.
Good food
Y.
You can buy everything here👍👍
T.
Love it, a quick stop for the essentials. The only downfall I have with them is the long line waiting for checkout but its reasonable.
シ.
Rather large supermarket. Nice selectionof affordable wines. The staff were helpful.
K.
Quick and easy grocery shopping Mart in CBD.
K.
Great place to have in the city, often pop in for midweek top ups, always queues at checkouts but they manage these extremely well and it is a short wait to the self checkout.
B.
It's well stocked although smaller in size than the others I've shopped at but all the basics are there.
V.
First visit. Good wee sore with heaps of products (more than I realised). Good location within walking distance of everything.
S.
Cool place to walk upon and grab everything you want. I omitted a star, because the place doesn't have sports equipments. But good for cheaper rates.
S.
The lines are astronomically long yet the staff manage to get the lines sorted out in a timely manner - only downside is the way that staff act like you're bothering them if you require assistance but they probably just have a pretty tough job considering the volume of people they serve!
D.
Not bad given the location in the centre of CBD, always crowded and not too many selection of groceries but should have nearly all you expect from a supermarket
S.
Had a good selection of products for staying in the city
b.
Nice place to shop
T.
Everything you need for daily life. Queues can be ridiculously long. Waiting time still acceptable due to many self checkout terminals
G.
Small super market with limited choices at times. But great for convenience if you live close or are a visitor staying not far away.
P.
Useful location doesn't carry quite the full range of stock as smaller can get very busy midday so expect queues
L.
They ve got all the items you need pretty much (like fruits n veggies as well)
M.
Very busy store with long wait lines but it is worth it. Great selection of products here.
S.
Good Place, great prices sometimes, buying here for 4 years, great staff and friendly.
B.
Well located inner city supermarket. Good range and very clean. Easy access.
P.
Lots of choices, efficient, well located. Some beggers at the entrance...
S.
Very clean store with a good selection of fresh and packaged items. Staff I've interacted with were friendly and helpful.
F.
I usually go there every day to buy my stuff. The prices are more reasonable than other prices in the city centre (CBD).
D.
Small outlet at one of the busiest junctions. Most stuff is out of stock or available only at bigger outlets. Crowded and long queues to check out
T.
Very unusual in the centre of business district at the bottom end of Queen St underground
and there's another further up queen St either off Wellesley or near Victoria St.
Pretty busy and the feeling of shoppers who either coming or going.
H.
Good selection of the basics for most countdowns. Often quite packed with customers which makes shopping a little difficult and waiting in checkout queue prolonged.
L.
Convenient, small stock of wine selection
F.
Central location. Walking distance to CBD/Queen Street. OK selektion of produce. Machen at check-out. Pool logistics and organisation
K.
It's a compact supermarket. Sells most things but, you may have to go to Countdown or Ponsonby New World occasionally.
M.
A smaller Countdown being a ‘metro’ type store. The fresh produce is inferior compare to other Countdown stores in Auckland suburban area. A full line Countdown Store is 10 minutes walk away on Quay Street.
m.
Nice super market. Available almost all food items. Best place to buy chocolates at low price.
M.
Great, fast delivery. Good fresh food quality and reasonable prices
V.
A decent option for people in the city centre. But not suited for bulk purchase. Less variety.. and generally very crowded
A.
Convenient location but average selection, crowded and in need of a make over.
t.
Awesome little supermarket. Very efficient staff considering the amount of people they move through checkout. Well done!
N.
Great location, efficient check-out. Not too much variety but I found whatI needed.
p.
Nearest supermarket. Well organized and everything available.
S.
Had what I needed on this visit. A handy local supermarket that usually has a good range and occasional 'best by date' specials
M.
Great place for groceries! Big store with very fresh veggies and fruit, meats, pastas, staff you need for home.
s.
So much better than Woolworths in Australia the deli had fresh made sanwich and rolls etc we don't get that
I.
Great for late night visits, quite busy at 9 pm! Good discounts on near sell-by-date items.
E.
Very convenient and easy to access.
s.
Very busy place especially due to it's small size but is jammed full with plenty of items
A.
Easy to find discounts and good products. Much easier pay and get whatever you need.
R.
This place is always busy, No matter what time of the day you go. Great place from grocery shopping
V.
A very good place to buy every day things for the house. Very organised. You can find the same things at the same place every time you see.
M.
Always kinda busy but a good selection of stuff, including bakery items
K.
Little small supermarket but has a good amount of products. Hard to self pay by using the machine though
S.
Good for a quick nip in nice and fast. Kinda sad there is alwase homeless people there though. Not countdowns fault but doesn't help
P.
rather small but very compact. has everything you need from a supermarket.
D.
Perfect to do some shopping without breaking the bank :)
We recommended for travelers who want to cook their own meals.
c.
Convenient for the CBD but often crowded, long time to pay but good choice of products and cheaper than new world.
c.
Some vegetables not very fresh. But selection of general food stuff is good enough.
J.
Convenient supermarket in the city with a good range of product for its size. Avoid peak times like 5pm on weekdays as the lines are crazy long.
N.
This is a OK super shop but because this is situated in downtown because of space they don't have huge variety in produts the one which is at St.Luke is huge
M.
Wow, so busy, and such a tiny store. Staff (most) are nice and smily and as helpful as possible in the craziness.
B.
Good grocery store right down in the middle of everything. Very convenient to the hotel district.
E.
It look good. However, replenishment will be a key.
Especially the Gold kiwi couldn't fill up the stock.
j.
ease of shopping. i just hope they would have more stocks available cause sometimes they run out of stocks
D.
Handy inner city location, good range of groceries and meals.
J.
Very convenient and very busy outlet, well stock and has good variety of supply.
A.
Not bad still buzy allways by the cashier. The should do something about that mas really it's been like that for as long I can remember,.
R.
Excellent place to shop. Wide variety of products, good quality and comparatively good rates.
R.
It's true, Countdown does care, for you.
C.
Has everything you need and situated right in the middle of the city, prices are fair, staff are nice and quick service too!
L.
Get what you need, mini size. Great customer service.
R.
Good selection of products but very long line at the check out
B.
Small, and lack of range as a result. Huge queues as well. Good if you're desperate, but not a full shop.
P.
Convenient location in the city. Check out are uusually busy so that long line queuing to check out. If you are in hurry, not a right place!
O.
Very convenient grocery/supermarket right at the Central Business District...near hotels and various stores.
B.
The queues move fast here but that's about all the good news I'm afraid. The fruit and vegetables here are beyond poor and the prices are exorbitant.
P.
Smaller than a normal supermarket, less variety of product but has the basics. Long cues at lunch and after work times.
J.
Great place to get your daily essentials whether food, beverage or health and beauty needs.
B.
Just your average supermarket although I wish they had human checkouts. I hate using those self check outd
L.
Great for things you've forgotten but limited range makes it unsuitable as a main shopping supermarket.
M.
I forgot my phone in the store, but the lady there helped me to get it back! Thank you very much for that)
A.
Really nice place.Usually long queues here for billing but staff is so polite and manage the crowd in a very peaceful manner.
R.
One of the busier countdown supermarkets. Very convenient location. Wide range of products given the smaller size of the supermarket.
D.
I love people watching in here. So multicultural. Need better checkout design, too hard to see when a sco is available
D.
Always handy when you're downtown and they have a decent sized covered car park
J.
It's ok clean and tidy. Outside there's usually homeless people
H.
Nice grocery store at reasonable price.but store space is very less.too conjusted.
T.
Convenient if you are living in the city but slightly more expensive than other supermarkets around Auckland
M.
Best supermarket experience in my life. The cashier was extremely friendly. Exquisite.
A.
Pretty near a full supermarket range and prices. A lot of customers, but a big checkout area to keep things moving
J.
Excellent central city shopping, great prices and selection of products, good for students and tourist who are on a budget,
C.
Good selection of products and produce as well as bakery.
M.
It is one of the best countdown around Auckland CBD 5 km range with all the product range and also open 24 hours.
A.

J.
Nice place to shop in the busy locality. Lots of choice and wide variety.
E.
Great selection like. Easy to grab something quick in the city at a good price
S.
Tends to be busy, but typically well stocked and stared so easy to get in and out.
L.
Service here is pretty good and they always have a variety of on-the-go lunch options.
A.
My favourite shop good service and clean
M.
Central CBD location but very busy with annoying bludgers at the front door.
W.
Compared to other supermarkets in cbd, it is better: bigger, cleaner, cheaper. But nothing compared to suburban supermarket shopping.
B.
All good service okay foyer could do with a good clean
E.
It's what you'd expect from a countdown, just on a smaller scale, always packed however so you're never out within a minute or two in line.
D.
Great supermarket it's like a huge dairy with everything you need at good prices
P.
Good small supermarket. The ranges of products it's good and the map of store is correct.
K.
Loved it! Big enough but not too big. Great prices.
L.
Was very good, prices are expensive compared to Australia but as to be expected, things were easy to find
B.
It's a pretty big supermarket for the cbd. They could really do with stocking a greater range of free range meat.
S.
Very organized and helpful staff.
F.
Great service. Self checkout lines are always moving. Short wait times
A.
Awesome little supermarket in central Auckland, prices are as you'd expect in town, go to the bigger countdown by the docks if your looking for cheaper in the CBD
M.
Great place for choices for lunch and staff amazingly polite and friendly and helpful
P.
The self-service checkout queues turnaround much faster even if they seem long at first!
A.
A suburban mall style grocery store in the city centre. Better prices and choices than your standard convenience store/corner dairy.
J.
Good range for size of store, self service keeps lines moving quit
I.
Was great
M.
It's cool but it's not so big. Sometimes there are a large amount of people waiting to pay
H.
Biggest Countdown in the city centre. Almost everything someone needs is there. A bit far from the city centre as its near beach road which is very close to the ocean.
M.
Small but has most of the essentials.
D.

N.
Great store in the city with cheap az! Weekly specials
V.
Good selection but the layout is not good
s.
Very crowded supermarket located downtown Auckland. Close to everything, bus stop, train station.
P.
Quite a wide range of goods for a city centre supermarket, but self checkout area a bit chaotic.
N.
Always fresh and not expensive products, however if it a rush hour, need to wait long time
J.
Too busy, need more checkout operators. Great selection.
G.
Complete supermarket, has all you'd expect from a supermarket. Great location.
N.
Convenient for grabbing a few items during busy hours, good location
F.
Not the largest of Countdown's but considering it's in the city, I think it's quite decent. Does better than the New World close by.
V.
Pretty good variety of everything you need for daily/weekly cooking and living.
J.
It's always good when i go there .. the staff are friendly n helpful ✔
