K.This is a living history of Chinese grocery stores. I went there ages ago. Now they have all sorts of other stuff rather than just Chinese food or utensils. They are now stockist for some local artisan products. I like to browse their random stuff - there will always be a wonderful surprise. I found a few artefacts from my childhood memories. One of the shop staff is a European gentleman who is very kind.
A.One of commercial Auckland's hidden gems, this retailer has been part of the city for generations. Any Far- Eastern products you need, they probably have them. To get a taste, check their cool website. Definitely worth a visit!
F.This store is an experience in itself. It smells lovely from the bulk spices. Lanterns hang from the ceiling and every shelf is stocked and brimming with useful things and curiosities. Much more instore than online. This is a true emporium. If you're looking for things from Asia, you'll probably find them here.
R.We used to buy Chinese Thundercrackers from Wah Lee's in the 1960s. Fabulous selection particularly for 8 and 9 year old boy's. My photo has me on the far left and my Brother Gary on the far right . This was taken in 1969 by the NZ Herald and published.

The Wah Lee family are a leading merchant family in this city and renowned for their dedicated commitment to customers. This is a must visit place.
Old style with a unique Chinese Auckland character. Wah Lee has to be experienced. This is a truly wonderful place that I've been visiting for 50 years. The best rice paper blinds and lampshades in the country. This is the place to go for bulk rice and grains.
If you've never been here; please go and spend an hour there. You'll be a convert to this revered family's commitment to Auckland. You will be welcomed by the Wah Lee family and friends. Totally wonderful!

E.I'm not exactly sure how they did it? But I live on the opposite side of Auckland to where the Wah Lee store is located and it only took them a few hours to deliver my items... They definitely deserve a 5 star review and I WILL be shopping online with them again!!! Also I'm very happy with my purchase, the rice paper is top quality.

J.The owners are very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Called beforehand and was reassured that they had everything I needed to purchase a new carbon steel wok and tools to prepare and season it correctly. A big variety of other Chinese kitchen goods and Asian pantry staples as well.
Parking can be a bit tricky, but there is some down a side alleyway, I missed the entrance and on Hobson St, you can't turn back easily so make sure you keep an eye out!
