General food and household supply store. Moderate sized supermarket housed within the Palms Shopping Mall located on Marshlands Road Shirley. I’ve generally found it to be well presented, clean, offering a diverse range of high quality fresh produce. Typically open from 7am till 10pm seven days with the standard public holiday exceptions. Loads of parking, wheel chair friendly facilities. Cash and EFT-Pos excepted. Staff are great. Friendly. Always happy to help you locate what your looking for. Seriously though, this is pretty much your standard run of the mill supermarket, but you do need to be mindful of peak shopping times as the mall can get quite congested at times.

Super helpful and friendly staff. Tends to have a good range of products available. Produce department tends to be well maintained. Generally tidy, the wait isn't too long, and everything seems fairly well priced. As always, the countdown cakes do not disappoint

Im not quite sure why We had to wait to get inside because there were to many people in side. Iv been double vac and have had my booster, big believer in vaxinnation. I was then late for my appointment. New world are not doing this. Why count down?

I do my grocery shopping here as it’s near my place. The organization of the store is just fine. Only the staffs are too focused on thier task and too serious looking. Please at least smile nextime even if you are havin a bad day. 🤪

Well set out supermarket in the middle of changing areas around, leading to some confusion, staff happy to assist. No queues at the time I went, a few morning shoppers there still able to move around with ease. Some limits to stock and some not available at the time I went. Overall a good experience

Larger Countdown although I seem to time it when stock of what I'm after is running low/out. Parking can be difficult when the mall is busy. Self checkout is the way to go because the staff I've encountered look like they'd rather be anywhere else... In which case they should probably throw in the towel and find a job they might enjoy.

This supermarket has an excellent selection of wines and beers. There are always great sales on so you’ll definitely find a great drop. The deli and bakery have fresh and wonderful foods perfect for grabbing on the way to a BBQ or dinner party. The meat is high quality and so are the fruit and vegetables. The layout of the supermarket is clean, well lit and spacious. The staff are always friendly and they manage the queues at busy times well. Parking is an ease.

Countdown was an OK experience considering Level 2 COVID Restrictions. One in One out. Social distancing etc. The shelves were fairly well stocked. Didn't appear to be suffering from consumer craziness... I take my hat off to the staff..... They're working really hard.

Absolutely the best place for meat. Schnitzel is so thick, the chops proper decent size and so yummy. Will always come here for my meat. It's the best!!! Most staff good. Manager guy who's been there for years is marvelous

This Countdown supermarket is within The Palms shopping mall which is convenient if you are already at the mall but I tend not to go there just for groceries. It is a nice supermarket though, always well stocked, bright and clean. Usually quite busy.

Rising to a 5 star.....I forgot to take my change from the self checkout, after near being home and realizing my own mistake, drove back....low n behold, the fantastic man had put it aside, recognized me straight away and money back in my pocket!!! A good Countdown in The Palms. It stocks all the supermarket products you would need and can be quite useful if you at the Mall for other shopping reasons. The supermarket is close to the carpark but you will need to take a trolley if you have a few items. By the way remember your bags to make things easier.

Everything's OK, good corn silverside beef, fresh fruit, nice bakery....... Yet the three stars goes to the bakery which is not plastic free. Don't see the point why it needs big plastic bag for the bakery food?

No Oyster or Shiitake mushrooms on my last visit. Otherwise greater range and much better fresh produce than Stanmore New World. Potatoes noticeably fresher, prices are better too. Less likely to be out-of-stock than New World. Better range in general. Found all the staff to be very pleasant. Meat section: Please make available some pork mince. Don't just put lamb mince in that spot and think people won't realize. I now shop here regularly now, especially after the ignorant staff burnt my fiance at New World Stanmore. (Long story...) But despite my bias they are better in every measure and I use them all the time.
