As I was from Christchurch, when compared, this New World is not up to that level of a New World. Comparatively, New World stands tall from others. But having said that, and understanding magnitude of Waimate, this is a gem for people in this small tiny township. This is the only supermarket available. So, that should be appreciated nevertheless. New World sign, (by that I meant letters) had no lights, at least on the one of the building itself. Bare minimum, would need for name-board from which someone can notice when driving at night. Me as a first time shopper there, totally could not notice at night. Self checkout was available. Car park needs at least one or two lights for night time. Nevertheless, having this in Waimate, does mean a lot. It stops shoppers having to travel a lot for groceries. They have got a cafe too.

I'm enjoying more variety here with more organic and eco friendly products, and prices are still reasonable despite the cost of living crisis. Waimate is lucky to have this supermarket.

From an out of towner, I popped in here while visiting and couldn't get over how well stocked the shelves were. Plenty of choice, a good fruit and veg section. Nice friendly counter service
