Brought some food items and a cooked chicken. Got home and cut into the chicken which looked and tasted like it had been on the shelf a couple of days. It was very dry and tasteless. Also shelves had lots of stock missing. Definitely not one of the better Pak n Saves

Triple A+ Early shopping on weekday morning straight after opening is definitely the best time to shop for me. Huge range of choices from fresh foods to the pantry ranges. Staff are fantastic.

They pretty much have everything you need and shuffle with the prizes, so you can get a good deal on some stuff. Not always cheapest, but the best for big grocery shopping. If you look for special stuff better look elsewhere.

Have both been a shopper, and now an employee. As a shopper I'm always happy, lots to choose from with fantastic rank and file staff that are always helpful. As a worker it gets a lot darker, when one of the main managers of the store uses the phrase "if they don't like it we can replace them, there's always more workers"; it's very difficult to feel happy about going to work. AN AWSOME PLACE TO SHOP NOT WORK should be the current slogan.

I shop here for groceries qs it is mostly affordable for me. It id a wee bit of a longer walk for me. There is a bus stop at both grocers. I never worry about walking home with good deals. Therw are also bundles of taxis available most of the time in the taxis bay that they have.

Having just moved here I found it really easy to shop. Carparks are bigger than I had in the last town I moved in and so good to have a roof so was under cover walking into PaknSace plus it's light rain today so was a bonus to be under shelter loading my groceries. The young lady at the checkout was so lovely welcoming and friendly. Well done ☺

It's a standard paknsave (they are my fav chain, lower hutt has the best range and layout imo) until you get to checkout. The lines extend out to the shelves behind them (this has happened every time I've gone in pre and post lock down) having to ask people to move so I can get at the shampoo or tooth paste I need is annoying. I get the feeling they need to expand because they're everyone in towns fav place to go.

Isn't it strange that you can review a supermarket? Has there ever been such demand for comparisons between them that a publisher chose to hire a supermarket critic, like they might for restaurants or entertainment? What are you going to do if the review is bad? You're probably still going to go there because most of the food is produced by someone else, and the supermarket is basically the middle-man who sells it to you. Realistically, the only relevant information is the main criteria by which the two supermarkets in our locality compete: price. In general, pricing at PAK'nSAVE is slightly cheaper, but during occasions where there is a good sale, Countdown can often have lower pricing on some items.

The largest supermarket in Gisborne. Our family shop here regularly for our “big shop” as it’s only a block away from home. Has regular deals like $5 week or Meat Week. Products that are discounted have different colour label. The car park has been upgraded recently. There are now 6 baby parks, which is great for new mums or families. Lots of full-size trolleys & small trolleys locates by the door and baskets can be found inside the supermarket.

Not to many major supermarket s in Gisborne, this is one of them. Pretty big, so your pretty likely to meetl your grocery needs here. Prices are fine, service fairly low but be that's there stick, no frills save money. Normally easy to shop at unless holiday season and then Gisborne population doubles, then it's hellish.

PAKNSAVE GISBORNE no longer stock items that both myself and my friends use to purchase on a regular basis; so we do quite a bit more of our shopping at COUNTDOWN GISBORNE because they do! Some of the grocery items that are no longer stocked are Sweet orange marmalade, 1.5ltr Endeavor Lemon Lime and Bitters, HUBBARDS CORNFLAKES, Vita wheat crackers (Cracked Pepper) and the last 2 tins of VALUE brand peaches i have tried have been absolutely disgusting. Whether or not they were also produced in CHINA before BUDGET re-branded I don't know. But these items are just to name a few. My friends and I have noticed more and more PAKNSAVE CUSTOMERS are frequenting COUNTDOWN more than ever as a result....But we love PAKNSAVE - It's just that the brands are changing or the stocks of stuff we use to buy is not on the shelf so we move on.....
