Reviews of Hawkes Bay Farmers Market

We had perfect Autumn sunshine. Great variety of food. Mixture of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as ready to eat, and other craft produce, jams, sauces, breads etc. Well worth the visit. Such a friendly atmosphere. Enjoyed every minute.
V.
This is the best and largest farmers market i have ever been in the North Island! Plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, artisan breads, sweet treats, meats, cheese, honey, smoke meats, sauces and condiments, eggs, cooked food like pizza, sandwich, dosa, coffee and many more!! The price was very reasonable and affordable given the quality of fresh produce we received. We have tried products of the Chef's garden @Epicurean, Good Chow NZ condiments, Telegraph Hill Olive oil, Monsieur Macaron, The Bacon Sandwich Co, Yeast Coast Baking, Haralds Bread World and some natural lamb and mint sausages from The Organic Farm Butchery. All of the products are of very high quality with discounted price only found in the market. Will be back again!!
S.
Lovely outdoors market. Great selection of stalls with some very unique offerings from venison black pudding to award winning cheeses from Hohepa (may be incorrectly spelt). With the markets being so popular it's a great way to spend a morning. The queues were a little long for bread and coffee but only as I had elsewhere to be that morning, as it was Easter. The stalls I visited were moderate in cost but the quality of the products were amazing, especially the cheese. A great family outing, with a large tree out the front to play on for the kids or an excellent escape from the kids. Totally recommend a visit.
M.
Lots of interesting stuff, mostly food as many farmer's markets are intended. Nice location outside in grassy area especially if weather is nice.
m.
For the first time visit, just amazing market with many good quality produce and food and drink. I spent about $100 easy 😁 good parking inside the park.
H.
It's a must if u are anywhere near hastings!! The food is delicious and the quality of veges are the best. You will find fresh pasta, fresh juices, pizza, macarons, honey, spiced walnuts and special teas!! also it's a no dogs market!! Loved the place and the whole atmosphere✨ grab something to sit on and enjoy ur brunch!!
A.
This Farmers Market, it is good size market, no too big and not to small, a lot of local produces to sell. Love to visit again next time in Napier
A.
Lots of fresh and local produce. Cheeses, veges, innovative blended foods. You can try samples. Really friendly people. Nice atmosphere. Bring cash as credit cards eftpos at shops not accepted. There are mobile atms.
L.
We didn't realise how big and popular the Hawkes Bay Farmers Market was until we got there! We thought it was really good. We had the bacon roll from Holly Bacon and it was delicious! I also bought some fruit seed and nut muesli from Peggy Daring after trying the sample. The danish and some sort of pizza bread from Haralds Bread World were also nice. Unfortunately we had a limited time so we weren't able to check out all the stalls. We did buy some apples to juice. We will definitely come back though. 😀
L.
The best farmers market in the land! Great variety of local produce, preserves, meats, baked goods, Juices, etc...
Disabled parking available, however I'm not sure how well it's controlled. Note, No dogs are allowed. Lovely coffee & hot foods available if you want breakfast or lunch. The new Dosha Project serving vegetarian & vegan savoury stuffed pancakes!
A.
You have a huge variety of stalls and food items to chose from. Everything is fresh and cheap to buy. This market is the largest and most supported market of its kind in NZ.
S.
Superb food quality/selection, including fresh fruit & vegetables. Definitely one of the best Sunday markets going around. Impacted inconveniently by the crazy covid conditions that are imposed on trading markets at this time. Still highly recommend though.

Absolutely Love these markets! Everyone's always happy to chat & let you taste samples (covid rules permitting). It's huge open outdoors area is fantastic, with tonnes of fresh fruit, veg, preserves & homemade deliciousness
L.
Great market to get local goods and food while enjoying the sunshine. A couple food carts, a couple coffee carts, a couple fruit and veg, you get the idea. Not so vast you get tired walking the whole thing but enough options to find something you want/need.
Ample parking inside the show grounds, nice grass so you don’t kick up a dust cloud, and plenty of space for a picnic to enjoy your purchases.
We picked up some awesome apple butter and enjoyed the dosa and Mexican food carts. Would recommend if you’re in the area and over Napier’s Saturday market.
G.
Great selection of locally grown foods - must see if in the area. Around 50 different stalls today, with live music. The mussel fritters are awesome.
S.
The best market I've ever been too. Well organised. Friendly stall holders, great product range and prices. Ample parking.
徳.

E.
We were here at June, it was raining but the market was really busy lots of home made food and nice people. You can find honey, jam, wine, vinegar, dressing, grocery, bread and lots of handmade things.
P.
Always lovely stalls and things for sale. Absolutely covid central at the moment though, almost nobody wearing masks, sellers included, and no efforts at physical distancing.
S.
Huge selection of locally produced food and produce. Busy and bustling atmosphere. Really good farmers market!
S.
Love this place, local trade, fresh and handmade or grown only sold here. Without covid restrictions the vibe is even better! Music and bean bags 🎶
C.
Love this market it was a bit smaller but still had fabulous produce selection.
S.
Great layout .. pity only one coffee cart. Lots of stalls had limited goods
T.
Really cool place to spend a Sunday morning. Was a bit surprised by the lack of fruit and vegetable stalls but the food and drinks stalls where varied, delightful, reasonably priced and plentiful. With the selection of local and posh foods and things it is a great place for buying gifts for people. Would definitely go again if nearby.
S.
Great range of stalls, lots of artisan producers & food options. Would return!
R.
Great selection of all sorts of things to eat.
Every Sunday at the Hastings A&P showgrounds.
M.
My favorit is the bakery next to coffee seller. The blueberry almond pie, just the same as my favorite amandine.
F.
Fresh fruits, variety of food stalls, live music and in a very spacious outdoor setting amongst trees which gave it a very nice relaxing vibe.
K.
Always an awesome experience. Love the choices of fruit and vegetables to buy.

Great food, good variety, and juicy tangy table grapes!!
C.
Stellar farmers market with all the local produce you could dream of. Had a lovely breakfast with coffee, and was able to.pick up dinner and drinks for the evening. Functioning well in level 2 lockdown , with seating provided outside the market to enjoy your purchases.
G.
Fantastic Farmers. Highly recommended. Large number of Stalls. Wide range of organic original items and many other items. Bring a rug and have a picnic, lots of lawn space.

J.
Fresh products and yummy snacks probably one of the best farmers market in NZ
A.
Xmas eve and people everywhere. Shortage of fruit today, especially strawberries and other berries. Great to be outside and have a choice of stalls
D.
Lots of food options and local boutique products. Not much fresh produce.
J.
The market is normally a wonderful community, lots of happy customers eatinv, drinking, mudic playing etc. The covid restrictions has bought the market to shadow of itself. I felt very sirry for those stall holdrrs still trying to continue with vdty few public.
s.
Always love this market. Bit sparse on the stalls, but that's due to covid, but the ones that are there are great.
A.
Soo much good food and local produce. You don't wanna miss. All the aged steak looks fabulous and real chill to grab something while walk around. The park also got a small lake too, super pretty. Highly recommended

N.
Great selection of food - you can buy a litre of freshly squeezed orange juice
J.
A really cute little market with excellent local produce and goods. I really didn't expect them to have yacon though so that was a pleasant surprise! Veges are cheap and there is also a really good cheese stall to check out! A must if you're in the Hawkes Bay on a Sunday!
D.
Still a good place to go on a Sunday morning for coffee and market goodies
F.
Always a lovely market to wander and check out, and support, local suppliers

L.
First time visitor last weekend and enjoyed it. Plenty of stalls to choose from, found me some organic manuka honey & honeycomb, tried a lovely fruit smoothie 🥤 had toilets close, flat access, plenty of parking and a good amount of seating and tables available.
K.
So much delicious food to sample and to purchase. Our kids had a great time tasting the food.
Only one downside, we were told their were pony rides. But we couldn't see them. However, luckily there was a big swing the the carpark area.
H.
So good! Lovely to be at a farmers market supporting local trade.
c.
No better place to be on a beautiful sunny Sunday.
A.
My partner and I love this market the local farmers/business owners are very informative and really know their produce and hence for that reason we keep coming back for more and therefore going to their actual place of business. If ever the market stopped....business itself would stop and that would be a great shame as it highlights what the bay has to offer....thank you Hawkes Bay Farmers Market you make a lovely Sunday even better and gets us ready to face another week.
A.
Great vibes and lovely stalls. Although somewhat disappointing with the lack of fruit and vege stalls.
J.
A very good morning market with delicious food . We love the hash & mushroom from " Paella a go go "
C.
Great farmers market with the best original Japanese budo, they’re super delicious

Lovely atmosphere. Not exactly cheap.
n.
Wonderful experience, bacon butties, great coffee and fresh fruit juice while listening to classical guitar combined to make a great morning out. Aim to arrive early.
R.
Cute farmers market. Lots of fruit and vege for sale. Had an awesome coffee from a stall here, but unfortunately can't remember the name of it. They all looked legit, tho.
Check this place out for fresh local produce and yum hot food, such as the bacon rolls!
H.
Great market. Big selection of food etc to buy. Good quality produce
P.
Fantabulous. Such a lovely farmers market especially during the seasons all the stalls are outside under the trees. Absolutely well worth a visit to buy some goodies for home & for breakfast! Yum.

Really nice market. Quiet, good atmosphere and a lot of really good food. I took some cheese and it was tasty like in France. Homemade juice and French pastry were really nice as well.
G.
Not sure what happened at this years xmas market. Less than 1/2 of stalls there, prices were thru the roof!
We are dealing with uncertainties as our world collapses. Today's hoghlight, the festive Salvation Band.
M.

D.
Good selection of different stalls and vendors.

R.
Amazing farmers market. Cute boutique stalls and fresh local produce. The market is on a field so reccomend wearing the appropriate footwear especially in winter.
M.

Great place for foods and local products. Good atmosphere with music. Ideal to have a brunch or lunch or lots of local choice. Outside the food category there is minimal products - probably better towards Xmas time
H.

Great market, all the usual suspects: local fruit & vege, FR eggs, meats, cheese and breads, pastries, coffee....etc. Lovely park setting with live music. Great Sunday outing for all ages.
A.
I love the Hawkes Bay Farmer's Market. So much fresh produce, artisan products, friendly stallholders, great quality goods. Good prices, great vibe, there's nothing not to like about it! Wish I lived in the Hawkes Bay, never mind, I always plan my holidays around a visit to the market.

Loved it! Wasnt planning on buying much but ended up with bags full of yummy food and produce. Def worth a visit if you are in the Hawkes Bay on Sunday mornings.
A.
Great food nice settings tables and chairs to sit and eat. Friendly people
B.
This is an absolute must do!! There’s plenty of parking so if you’re the anxious type, don’t be! The ready to eat food is amazing with a great variety. We bought fresh blueberries that tasted absolutely amazing! The fresh produce is simply wonderful.
S.
Not much in the way of traditional farmers produce only a couple of sellers of fruitand vegetables. There is meat, poultry, eggs, cheese etc. Most stalls are specialty foods focused on a single produced, eg. Blueberries, (fresh, ice cream, jam).
There is a special area where you can get a variety of hot meals, coffee.
Extensive parking is available.
S.
Spent a lovely morning at the Farmers Market with friends. Tried a few offerings & we bought some supplies. Thoroughly recommend it on a clear sunny day.
t.
A superbly laid out, happy experience
J.
Such a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of parking, and easy to walk into.
Shade and space to picnic with the delicious produce from the stalls.
Fresh product from around the region. Mushroom, Cheeses, Vegies, Meats, Plants and much more.

D.
Definitely doing this again next time we're in the Bay.
D.
I just love this place the people and the stalls are fantastic. I have my favorites plus I just love wandering around tasting all the different things available. Lovely Sunday morning outing
G.
A great experience! There are so many vendors offering everything you would expect, from fresh vegetables to local meats and cheeses, great coffee vendors and don't forget the "must have" bacon sandwich! This is a great place to spend a Sunday morning.
L.
Lovely - I bought wine, wooden items and food and snacks - all top quality and reasonably priced. There were also olive oil, bread and pastries, fresh fruit (not huge variety), honey, crafts, allergy free food, meat and lots more. Chilled vibe with live music and some tables and chairs out. ATMs on site although most places have eftpos. I would recommend wearing appropriate shoes as it gets a bit muddy. Had a good time :)
W.
It rained today and there is minimal shelter. There are toliets there which were in good condition and there is a portable ATM there. It pays to bring cash
With you as the queues to the ATM were long.
J.
Amazing, everything you want to plant, grow and sample is here. I'd gladly travel to this every weekend
j.
A fantastic place to go on a Sunday morning. Great live music, the food stalls are delicious.

Beautiful seeting even with Covid restrictions! Nice to see decent quality food only.
L.
Always a satisfying experience. A variety of fresh food cooked for whatever you may be feeling like for breakfast. A huge range of fresh fruit and verges, home goods and treats. Entertained with live music. Fitted around are tables and chairs, blankets, bean bags and seating with tree shade or umbrellas. Long established market with ATM cash facilities. A great start to a Sunday for everyone!
W.
Fantastic place to spend a typical Hawke’s Bay Sunday morning / plus, this pizza is really nice
J.
Pretty good actually. Missed the Holly bacon though.

M.
Has so many organic shops and delicious meals for breakfast and lunch. The people are amazing and the music is great
T.
Cold start, but warmed up when the sun came out. Market got busy as the morning progressed. Popular place with many regular shoppers.
V.
Lots of artisan and organic foods, some crafts as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. I enjoyed my time there.
M.
Always a pleasure (except for the Covid restrictions).
N.
Nice place, shame about the ridiculous roped off area where people are allowed to eat and drink their purchases... outdoors...
A.
Awesome market, everything there to make the visitors feel welcome, a great variety of produce and food.
M.
Local small farmers, best quality!! Highly recommended
S.
One of the best farmers markets I've ever been to in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere. The biggest farmer's market in NZ, it has heaps of variety, extremely friendly vendors and the prices are impressively low with superior quality to what you get at the supermarkets. This place is buzzing from open to close for good reason. Whether a local or a visitor, if you'll find yourself in Hawkes Bay on a Sunday morning, come on down to the A and P Showgrounds in Hastings and have a delightful experience with some of the best Kiwi grown food, drink and artisan crafts in the country.
S.
Heaps of cool places. Shout out to Harold's Bakery, they make some good bread. The location is nice, but may take some time getting out as the intersections where you have to leave through aren't designed for that amount of traffic.
S.
Live music, delicious assortment of local produce and artisanal products to sample
C.
I'd forgotten what a wonderful market this is. Gorgeous park setting and fantastic array of local fresh and gourmet foods.
R.
So many amazing good products at this market. The walnet brittle is not too be missed. The New York Muscat grapes and Buffalo Blue grapes were the best I've ever eaten. I bought both vines. All the food was great, live music. Genuine farmer grown quality products, unlike many other markets.
B.
The fig salami was amazing!
B.
So busy! Easter Sunday 2021 could be just about as busy as it gets. A fantastic place with plenty on offer from the food basket of Hawkes Bay. A definite must visit.
C.
Great experience with a lage number of stall holders supplying their products over many years! More shade and chairs would be good
T.
We were fortunate to be visiting on the first market after lockdown. Unfortunately it was raining, ground is very muddy, take your gum boots on rainy days. Great range of products, highly recommend going
T.
A must do if you are in the area. Well spread out and a fantastic range of very good quality products. Take a picnic chair, enjoy the surroundings and music.
R.
Wow, what an incredible market! Our first visit and we loved the wide range of fresh produce available. Everything from fruit, cheeses, honey, meat products, food stalls (even 2 ATM machines)! and much much more... I wish I took photos!
D.
Always a great place to go to for the music, the ambience and the produce. Lots of fresh stuff, good coffee, bacon (and bacon butties), "organic" almost every thing and walnuts, wine, cider, various cheeses. ATM there etc. You get the idea - just go!!
Z.
It's even better than the one in Wellington!! I really love the vibes of this sunday market. It was filled with lots of good bakeries, coffees, breakfast options, and ice cream!!!
G.
Great food and atmosphere.
M.
The usual mix of food sellers. The cheeses were not really any different from other places. Nice but not special enough to buy. The only bright side was the Damson Collection which I first saw at the Kimbolton market. Bought some there and bought some again at Hastings.
K.
It was very nice place with alot stalls from local farmers and companies. Great place to spend the Sunday morning with some live music.
R.
Pretty good overall. Plenty of variety of organic products including all meats n veges. Honey nuts and art n crafts etc
S.
Great for families...great food and coffee
R.
This is a must do, wonderful variety of produce and condiments, relaxed atmosphere. We enjoy coming here when in Hawkes Bay.
M.
Walk in and you have two options, takeaway meals on site (icecream, wood fired pizza, dumplings, sandwiches, coffee etc) or fresh food produce like meat, fruit & vege, eggs, local pressed oils, preservatives, vegan options etc. It's fair pricing, no bargains to be had but it's supports local people and businesses with top advice and support.
D.
Its a nice summer venue . The trees are stunning. I enjoyed the live music and the atmosphere was really cruisy. The food on offer was unique and there was a lot of sellers there. I thought the Waipawa Butchery stall was terrific. The young people manning the stall and barbeque were great sales people. I didn't go to the market for sausages but I came home with the best sossies ever.
c.
Loved all the fresh fruit!
B.
Another beautiful morning at the markets stocking up on snacks for our trip, delicious biersticks, fresh blueberries, nectarines & plums. A selection of yummy pastries & the all important coffee!
G.
Great farmers market with live entertainment, and all the food, drink, and local produce you could dream of. I always grab a bacon sandwich and a smoothie or juice. Plenty of coffee options too. Orcona makes great chilli sauces. The list goes on. Get there early to make sure you don't miss out on anything.
M.
Some of the best local produce that I have ever tasted. Always a must do for me when visiting Hastings. Plenty of parking. Great for families. Try the bacon and eggs sandwiches...best ever!
D.
A large, well laid out market, with a broad selection of little shops and booths. Loved the variety of prepared foods. Could do shopping for gifts, wine and produce, and have meals.
Definitely go again.
P.

S.
This is a wonderful farmers market in a great location.
s.
Every two weeks at least over to the market. Just love it!! fresh bread and veges and quark and fruit also. Have a brekkie and fresh juice and enjoy the Sunday on the grass or in one of the colourful chairs around listen to local musicians. Bean sacks would be a great addition though ;)
K.
Great atmosphere, excellent local food stall. A bit expensive but highly recommended the walnut brittle stand and the lads at the macaroons stall
E.
The best farmers market ever. You definitely have to visit this beautiful market. It makes me to imagine to move in Hawkes bay. Good variety of vegies, cheese and coffee etc. Just love it
P.
So much to see and buy! We were heading back to Wellington and wanted to stop and get some fruit and veg before we left and it was suggested we come here. Hadn't realised just what we were in for! Didnt end up with any fruit and veg but instead got jams, plants, dressings, cheese and coffee haha
D.
Nice farmers market with great local produce, amazing fruit juices and nice snacks. The fish monger occasionally sells Paua mussels. Cool loungers with live music. ATM is available, a place to spend a relaxed Sunday morning
R.
Beautiful spring day to visit the market. Always fabulous food and coffee, organic fruit and veges and yummy treats. Warm a
Mulled cider was a treat!
Z.
Amazing range of produce and foods and activities. Love Harolds Bread shop. Great atmosphere with live music. Kids love free activities. Seats and sun shelter available.

A.
One of the best markets in NZ, must visit experience..
C.
Loved it, bought oils ,walnut brittle and wax do it yourself wraps for gifts. Everyone so friendly and enthusiastic about their products.
I.
Too many food outlets and not enough crafts, but plenty of choices in food selections, finding a seat is hard work, but all the atmosphere of a sunny outdoor market, go in summer months as the winter period there is only a quarter of the vendors out.
J.
Great layout easy access for wheelchair...good stalls and prices...will visit again when in Hawkes Bay
M.
Amazing market, great atmosphere, love the live music, easy parking, great range of hot food drinks etc & fresh produce, veges fruits meats seafood, wines, oils, plants & more, wonderful community spirit & supporting local 👍
T.
We visited this market as tourists as we happen to be in town. The market was pretty good with mainly stalls for produce and a small selection of food available. A couple of outdoor seating was available and there was a live music section
D.
One of the best Farmers Markets in New Zealand. An incredible selection of local producers and artisan foodies show off their wares year round every Sunday morning. Bring cash as many of the stalls only accept physical money.
C.
Great day, only thing, once been a couple times I really go there to get particular items. Music is fantastic, however.
P.
Shame there's no dogs allowed
A.
A fantastic range of various product. Gf, egg free, vegan catered for too. I had keto crackers and fenugreek cheese for breaky!
M.
Great fresh food and produce market. Lots of seating to sit and enjoy your food at the time and plenty of shade.
Traffic and parking can be a bit mayhem, but it's worth the wait.
J.
Fun place to take the family to enjoy music and different types of food and place to buy fresh produce
A.
Great variety of interesting food of a good quality but quite pricey. Chairs were set up in the middle so you could relax and enjoy a coffee.
s.
Great atmosphere and a wide range of products to choose from. Fantastic for all walks of life
a.
Many different things to do and very good food. The best morning market that I have been to in NZ.

Good vibes, music, relaxed people, yummy food. We biked and the pathway from Napier to HB Showgrounds is fantastic and we'll sign posted.
L.
It's the best farmers market we've been too.
S.
Always worth to go there
P.
Brilliant place to just wander and grab breakfast/brunch or to buy most of your food for the week. A bonus is having a range of musicians buskers bands etc.
J.
Colorful for #NZ! Fairly repetitive, meat, cheese, fruit & vege, seedlings, wine, honey, coffee and food. In other words, all the basics 😁
J.
Great experience be nice to live handy with all the bargains. Nice food.
S.
Lovely products for sale. ATM machine on site. I felt the goods were fairly expensive but good quality.
M.

C.
Sun was shining brightly, people everywhere. It was beautiful. So much history behind this area. It never fails to live up to expectation. A fun morning of food and music.
L.
Awesome market! A perfect day to be out and about...Love this market.
R.
This is a large market with a great range of fresh and prepared foods available including some unusual goodies such as biltong. Plenty of well organised free parking. The market also endeavours to compost or recycle all waste.
S.
Quite a large market - one of NZ's biggest. Go to the German baker for some Bretzeln and a Cronut. From other stalls and sellers you can get fresh orange juice ice blocks, bacon sandwiches, piles of seasonal produce. There are locally made sustainable beeswax reusable wraps by Lilybee, local chocolate, preserves, Hawkes Bay figs, cured meats, and plenty of other delicious and crafty things to check out.
Bring cash as a lot of sellers don't take card.
A.
Great stalls in a lovely open air setting. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Live music to cap it off.
r.
A very good range of fruit, vegetables pate and cheeses. Well laid out with nearby parking

As in some cases the same stuff is cheaper at the supermarket.
Seems the locals dont shop there always.
More tourists than locals.
Still a pleasant atmosphere.
Take cash to be safe some stalls dont have eftpos.
