Most amazing food! We had BearLion cater our wedding this year in Nelson. We did it picnic style and they presented the food so nicely, and were also easy and flexible to work with throughout covid changes! And of course the food was soooo delicious, we just wanted to keep eating! Reasonably priced and totally worth it.

This is food with soul. I can’t even describe how good this food is. When I first tried Bearlion salads I’d never had anything like it, but I’m totally hooked now. The chutneys, relish, chilli jam and muesli slices are just divine. This food is a must try. 10/10 would highly recommend.

I cannot write enough about how delicious and great BearLion food is. On a scale from 1-5, I would give it an eleven. For us living in the Richmond Nelson area, we have one of the best chefs in New Zealand living outside of the beautiful village of Moutere! After a long week, BearLion is willing to prepare your Friday supper for pickup, which you serve in the comfort of your own home. Lovely meals with amazing salads and soups. Try the ‘Smashgams’ for dessert! Also, I have had BearLion caterer family meals after an injury and it was incredible. Healthy, whole food, and organic meals from one of our best chefs! Shop and cafe selling and serving organic food. Visited once for lunch. Lots of laminated signs in the small space. Found the foodstuff they sell very expensive, but it's a big variety of things, nicely presented. Cannot say the same for my food. I had a beetroot soup which tasted nice, but was served in a square steel bowl. The Chai tea had a soupy consistency and too much tumeric. They offer catering, but provide no menus or price lists (even on their website), which might be because they buy seasonally, but is not helping if customers have to call and inquire. The service was friendly.

We went for Thursday dinner, it was delicious! The food is amazing, especially the pork belly and lemon dessert. Service is great and you can tell so much thought and care is put into every menu item. Highly recommend :)

A really pleasant surprise in New Brighton. Only knew it was there due to an article I'd read some time ago. Really enjoyed our lunch...we had four different salads between the two of us and shared...delicious. Worth taking the trek out there...and having a stroll along the beach after.

This fabulous cafe and deli by the beach is perfect for anyone wanting high class healthy food, or just something interesting to try. Catering to all types of food persuasions, including gluten free and sugar free, you will love the funky atmosphere, the friendly staff and the feel-good experience this place offers. Went to BearLion for a cooking class last night. It was SO GOOD!!!! The food was amazing! Alesha is such a lovely, easy going person and obviously passionate about making food that not only tastes good but knowing where it came from and making REAL food. The dishes werent complicated so I could make them again at home. Another highlight was that the meal was vegan. Im not that creative when it comes to cooking meat free dishes so it was great to get some ideas on how to make simple vegan dishes that taste amazing. Overall an amazing night!! Will definately be going again!

My oh my. I've never had a salad as delicious as what I had at BearLion. Calling the food here high quality doesn't really do it justice. Some sort of wizardry occurs in that kitchen. I initially felt it was expensive but it well worth the price as I left feeling 'nourished', which isn't really a word I use lightly, if at all.

Amazingly good food, organic carefully made by detail , fresh and small batch not to leave wastage, eco and sustainable mind good people and life. Lucky to find this eatery in the beautiful seaside town. Must visit!!!

Great service and a place with passion about its food. A hidden gem. Great variety of salads and reasonably priced. Desserts that are sugar free and enticing. Go have a look.

Superlatives of the highest tier form in my mind reflecting relishingly on our serendipitous stumbling upon this edible Garden of eden. This delightful deli is the Shangri-la of sumptuousness and a place where your body and nature is venerated like a temple. If you care about your environment and what you consume your going to salivate over BearLion and it's sensational selection of scrumptious smatterings. Fresh locally harvested fare from the pastoral paradise of aotearoa these guys care as much about the Providence of the province as much as pleasing the discerning moral gourmand. I love the umph they put behind their quirky upcycled decor too. From old door table tops to baked bean cutlery holders, this store is a microsmic metaphoric living testimonial of how we should dutifully live and love. Simply breathtaking

Went here for dinner on a Thursday evening, food was delicious, the waitress was wonderful and recommended a fabulous wine to go with our meal too. Planning when i'll go next already.
