P. J.Its surprising how this place is small yet doesn't feel that way when you go inside. Kind of like Doctor Who's TARDIS. Let's face it, you don't really go to the mini "supermarket" for your main shopping, it's mainly for local businesses lunches and essentials. Prices are what you expect from New World supermarkets; too high. Just a place to stop and get some gum... or your late-night quick contraceptive.
R.They have an array of products in deli bakery and for lunch.
This is a great little supermarket they have surprising items that make shopping interesting. And for a New World there prices are competitive with any other supermarket. Full range of products for all of life's needs

W.Excellent Supermarket in the heart of the Wellington CBD. New World's Meat Department is by far the best for fresh, quality cuts, and range of choice.The Bakery is superior to other supermarkets in the area as well. Service always friendly and helpful.

T. H.One of the best bakeries of the New World clan (the sausage roles are a standout), but being a metro has limited choice and higher prices of groceries. Good range of fresh fruit and vedge. The beer and wine selection is good and well maintained by the manager of this section given the size of the area. Great regular staff.
H.New world is always my best shopping place. The supermarket itself is well decorated and warmly presents its goods. I like their bakeries, especially muffins. This metro branch is busy but organized. You don't need to wait too long get your purchase done. Love it.

S. Z.As far as Metro stores go, this one is ok. They have a small bulk foods selection of nuts and snacks, and a fair gluten-free and healthy/organic products.
With all New World Metro stores, location convenience is offset by variety of products (limited) and price (often more expensive than non-Metro stores).

Very easily accessible by walk or public transport.
The staff are very nice and helpful.
The initial look from the outside doesn't give the actual picture on how spacious and smartly stocked the interior is.
Almost all products are available, given the smaller size of the supermarket.
The opening hours are convenient too, and make up a good stop for a quick bite or a snack.

G. P.I have a serious complaint... your jalapeño bites are too good. I think about them all of the time. They invade my dreams and I can't live without them.
Also the self-chrckout supervisor is amazing and has built a fantastic rapport given the nature of his work.

M. B.Good place when you want some top up supplies while at work. Aimed at people working or living in the city. No parking. Has everything including baked goods and a good wine and beer selection.
K. C.Handy but limited. Not all weekly specials are available esp. from the frozen dept. Occasionally full price items are stocked in lieu of specials. Always have excuses for not stocking specials... definitely not a good practice. Staff always friendly and helpful. Keep it up.
T. H.Good selection of stock. Convenient location. Prices good. Friendly staff and fast checkout experience to cope with high demand during commuting hours. The downside is the aisles are narrow, especially when it's busy but that's the price to pay for a wider selection of goods.

However very convenient has a great selection of fruit, their meat however seems to be getting cross contaminated with gluten as I react severely everytime I eat meat that is not vacuum packed. The store also has wifi for customers so you can check products online

Still, the staff are great and the queue times are minimal. A stress free place to come to but groceries.
P. F.First time ever going in here and wow could of spent ages looking around. Perfect for lunches when at work. When I went in during a lunch break the place was packed and so clean. Plenty of staff to help through the lunch rush. What a treat for those who live in town.

H. M.Mid sized central city supermarket. Quite xpensive, you pay for the convenience. Other than that, your typical New World supermarket.
T. S.Big supermarket. Really busy at lunchtime and afternoon. Has a bakery and some other counters which provide fresh made food such as fresh pasta salad or rice salad etc.
It's a big supermarket with a huge variety of everything.
The cashiers are quick and fast and surprisingly very friendly.
The car park is a bit small but it's very local.

F. S.The not packing on the cashier solution is inadequately deployed. You leave with your groceries on a basket to pack "on the air"? As there's a single coffee table available for all customers after the cashiers. 😖
J. K.For convenience, it's great when in town. Staff you see around but they in the past rarely interact, even when approached. Again however it's a pretty cramped store and you're always trying not to bump into someone. Personally I forego using the store where I can but occasionally I'll drop in for things.
M. M.Really convenient place. Stores everything ... Great to grab lunch stuff. Has an amazing deli. Meat section is ok but small, not much range there.

G. R.It's always clean and tidy. Good bakery section. It is not a huge shop, and this limits some of the selection, but what is there is well chosen. The convenience of the location does mean that prices are quite high.
J. A.As with most inner city supermarkets expect high prices. But there are specials and good deals to be had. Often a good selection of flowers. Lines are long at peak times but they move quickly.
T. K.Way too small for the amount of traffic it gets also has limited selection, I understand it’s due to space but you’d think being in town it would be better. Checkout staff are lovely but the other areas could be nicer.

Great pastries and breads. Medium sized (but sufficient) cold cut selection. Good fresh fruits & vegetables selection.
M. S.Convenient, has a decent selection. Best to avoid going at busy times (around 5pm). I find they often have great deals on items that aren't usually put on sale at the bigger NW stores.
D.Sort of like a mini mart, don't expect to find specific branded items you are after. They do stock most general items and necessities, but if you are doing a bigger shop I'd recommend going to a full sized supermarket like the City New World.
M. B.My favourite city supermarket. Surprisingly spacious interior enables great selection of stuff. New manned and UN manned payment counters have sped up exit. Believe it or not, best selection of large cakes in the city.

G. S.Good range for a metro. Much larger than the nearby Countdown metro. Can get quite busy and it can be hard to walk around. I could imagine it would be extremely difficult for those in a wheelchair. Plenty of checkouts so the lines move quickly.
L. S.I live on my own and I like that this supermarket caters to singles. Cheap cuts of vegetables e.g pumpkin and cauliflower. Meat section has great specials, I can spend $20 dollars on meat to last me up to a month easily.
I go to them only for my ciabatti in the x4-packs, I've tried other New World and supermarket stores and these guys do it best. This store is my go-to when all others fail. I don't go for the service, it's pretty average, I go for the products that only they provide to my satisfaction.
B.Range is limited, as you would expect from a central city supermarket, however they have quite a large section of ready-to-eat foods. Range is quite upmarket. Gets very busy at peak times but service is still reasonably fast considering how busy it is.
O. R.New World: The upmarket choice. Also slightly uphill from the cable-car Countdown. Is it worth it? Most of the time. Higher prices? Maybe a little, but not much. Bigger selection? YES. They have Vanilla Zero Coke. PayWave? Check. Alcohol after 10? You got it. ID all your friends? Party time!
D. P.Perfectly designed for quick stops. If you can avoid the rush just after 4pm, you will be fine.
M. C.A very convenient little new world right in the center of Wellington. You won't find many cheap deals here but it is still super handy and generally cheaper than a dairy, with much more range. Can get quite busy with long queues. Cellphone coverage drops out in the back half of the store but there is free WiFi.
R. L.Stuff laying around, a bit to improve, good quality pastry, some of the workers friendly, others not that much. Good yoghurt variety, fresh fruits. Convenient.
P.Good to have a supermarket in the city grab the things you need jump on the bus home easiest.
M. B.Nice store, good selection and decent prices. Staff are nice and helpful. However, the entrance/exit is a design nightmare. Super crowded group trying to squeeze through a narrow entrance is actually really annoying.

D.It's not big... rather narrow and deep, but you find the necessary stuff and it's right on the main street in town.
Personnel was helpful a couple of times I've been there and the prices are OK.
k. p.Used to go here and grab chicken and rice for my lunch reasonable price and quick checkouts never normally had to wait anything longer than 5 minutes and actually for a city shop had a wide and varied range.

D. &. R. B.Best place in I have found in New Zealand for lunches. They seem to have adopted a similar model to Tesco and Sainsburys in the UK; both of which are very popular with business people.
Need a few more of these around the country to reduce our reliance on unhealthy bakeries, and expensive cafes.

A. T.A New World in the city. Stocked most of the items that you needed, but only the commonly used/needed ones. Very small so the layout is a bit tricky and confusing. Their prices are quite dear, but this is the closest supermarket to the backpacking, apartments, and hotels area.

B. P.Over priced, but convenient. The staff are not friendly. Lunch times and after 5pm are crazy busy. The queue will often circle the entire shop.

D. R. S.You can find items that may be are missing from shelves of other supermarkets, however for the same item you may end up paying more. The service is not that friendly. The flowers shop is not open in the evening and no pharmacy is here.

M. G. A.OK let me start by agreeing with other reviews that Metro is indeed a bit pricey compared to New world or Pak n save, however, the convenience of having Metro especially if you live in the CBD, you wouldn't mind paying those extra bucks for it
J.Good selection, but can be pricey if you're not paying attention and wait times are extreme between four and six pm. Friendly staff though will recognize when you're a regular
M.Experience and excellent service and food and good prices and cooked food is yummy and good selection of water drinks
Á.Fairly extended express supermarket with all the regular goods and groceries you may need, but if you need to do large shopping, I'd suggest the larger New World close to Te-Papa.

R. D.New World Metro is pretty average in the supermarket product category, but is far better than Countdown which is the Jeremy Corbyn to New World Metro's David Malliband (or do I mean Ed?). Moore Wilsons is clearly Bojo. Also there's no cellphone reception out back. Perhaps the PPTA block it.
