Reviews of The Dutch Shop
V.
I bought a BK dutch oven the Sunday before Christmas and 2 days later it had already arrived. Great service. And currently the best price nationwide for BK pans. As a bonus there were cute salt and pepper shakers also in the box.
K.
I love poking around in this shop. There are so many tasty things to tempt me into eating what I shouldn't! Fabulous selection of licorice and drool-worthy cheeses. I love that you can have a wee taste to be sure you like what you're buying. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't been before.
M.
Love the variety of goodies here, fantastic that you can try different lollies in the mix and pick, $2.20 for 100 grams. The cheese variety are affordable per 100 grams, highly recommend their cumin cheese and liverwurst.
A.
Love having a Dutch vibe around. I am not expert of Dutch cheese, even though I lived in Netherlands for 1 year, I am more expert in their beers... but, looking at the Italian cheese they have, it is around 1.5 times more expansive than other places. However, they have German chocolate, which recalls me Italian ones, so I get chocolate here, very yummy!! Recommend
H.
They have a wide variety of cheese and dutch products which I really like. Decorations in the shop is delicate. You can also find small things that worth buying as gifts. Imported snacks look delicious too. The staff are nice and friendly. Will come again for sure.
C.
If you like Dutch food treats this is great, with a good range.

The Old Amsterdamer cheese here is more addictive than binge watching Squid Games on a rainy weekend 👍

Love this shop! Beautiful cheeses and so much licorice :) one of the best shops along Jackson Street, you must pop in and look around.
C.
The Dutch love of food is well and truly alive in the heart of Jackson street Petone. The wonderful staff are always willing to share their knowledge. For the liquorice fans you cannot go past here, they stock all sorts!
Great selection of cheeses I personally recommend the smoked cheese which is cut to any portion. They offer polish sausage and a large selection of biscuits and imported Dutch treats. You can even have a coffee while you browse.
S.
Helpful staff. A lot of different foods from Europe incl lots of fresh cheese.
H.
Always love my Dutch shop buys, the staff are soooo lovely always helpfull in translating any instructions as my Dutch is very rusty now. Brought a coffee machine today and was made a cuppa from their display model, and the machine was explained to me excellent service.
P.
As the name implies, this shop stocks all things Dutch......genuine Dutch.
Should you enter this very different shop, you will not be disappointed with the fascinating array of Dutch goodies, including cakes, biscuits and confectionery.
Dutch licorice is something that everyone should try at least once in their lives. Remember that for many years, Indonesia was known as Dutch East Indies, so Holland had access to a plethora of herbs and spices that no one else did, and much of their foods are rich and spicy....a la...Salt Licorice!!
S.
The best selection of cheeses in the wellington region, especially as they have friendly & knowledgeable staff who let you have tastes before you buy it. Only Moore Wilsons can rival it, but thats not got the atmosphere (unless your in Wellington on their 'tastings' days.) Amazing selection of authentic Dutch food goods in the main. My personal favorites a hugh selection of sweet and salty licorice, (much in demand by my 3 nephews) almond stollen, crackers, fruit pates, hazelnut wafers. Hughly yummy.!! A Petone wonder needing to be added to everyone's food trails.
For the foodies among us also in the same street home to both the Chocolate shop (tea's Harvey & son's, amazing chocolate), & House of knives (baking gear, cooking gear, knives) so make sure you pick up some chocolate to go with your coffees in the superb cafes nearby.
B.
So much better with new owners! Shop is now very cosy and filled with a wide range of goodies from the Netherlands, including quite a few new items. Staff are friendly and helpful. Parking can be tricky on the weekend as Jackson St gets very busy so some patience may be required.
A.
My favourite place to get my different sorts of cheeses and also snacks foods from overseas. But love their Licorices.
R.
Got some well priced good cheese so look for specials. Lots of other European, Dutch items. Friendly staff as well. Recommended shop.

V.
Great selection of Dutch cheese, small goods and biscuits, sweets, etc. Large range of many kinds of salted licorice, can mix and match from bulk jars as all are the same price. Brings back my childhood
K.
Cheerful, upbeat service, free coffee available and a very good selection of licorice and cheeses. I enjoy exploring the products available and especially like the Christmas selection of goodies.
J.
Really love this shop. My mum is European so see lots of food i had as a kid.. eg pickled red cabbage and haribo lollies... the cheese is die for... had platters for my wedding... beyond words how yum they were
J.
A decent range of imported cheeses, $$-$$$ range, they frequently have specials on 3 or 4 of them at a time. There must be 50 or 60 different varieties of drop (dutch liquorice), all for the same price so you can mix and match, and eat half on your way home.
Z.
Bought two boxes of Dutch treats online as gifts for my family. Couldn’t be happier with the pricing, quality and the service.

(Translated) Very nice store to be back in the Netherlands with your thoughts. Ketjap, nutmeg, satay, licorice, fruit hail, capsicum chips, cheese. They are small things, but very tasty. Because of all import duties, of course, a much higher price than in the Netherlands, but all messages are expensive in New Zealand.
(Original)
