Super friendly staff. Easy shopping. Everything where you would expect it to be. The best thing is no gestapo manning the queue for social distancing.

Plenty of organic packaged product. Organic kiwifruit is sometimes there, sometimes not. Check special prices at checkout-have nearly been overcharged a few times.

They seemed very light on stock and there were a number of items we couldn't get, but the store itself was clean and airy and the checkout operator was friendly and in good spirits.

Countdown Whakatane is the most expensive supermarket I go to. New World in Opotiki, Kawerau and Whakatane are all cheaper for most things. But NZ supermarkets rarely carry the entire product range from a given supplier, so sometimes I have to go to Countdown for specific items. As a positive, Countdown have - by far - the best range of low carb / keto / organic products. Definitely a big plus. You have to watch out for product information that doesn't comply with NZ law. Today, they had the US-sourced "Garden of Eatin'" range of corn chips for sale. Three of the four products in the range had no NZ-compliant nutritional info. Instead, they had the useless American information. it's impossible to work out how much carbs or fat or sugar is in the item. They also don't say who the NZ distributor is. I brought this to the attention of the supervisor at Customer Service. She wasnt much interested and told me to write the US-based manufacturer. She's actually supposed to record my complaint and pass it up the chain. That wasn't happening. This experience sums up my history with Countdown generally, anywhere in NZ. Take it or leave it Don't want to know. Reminds me Woolworths in Australia. That's why I most often either go to New World or order things online.

Did my very first ever online shop for collection this past week & was extremely satisfied with the entire service right down to the quality of my fresh produce. Thanks heaps team. Will definitely be using this service again.

A typical layout for a medium size Countdown. However, the stocking of their beer and wine section is appalling. The shelves are very empty at 5 - 6pm all the days I have tried to shop there. And, no effort is being made to accommodate 0.0% alcohol drinkers. Especially with regard to wine. This department is woeful, and it cannot be blamed on covid supply issues.

I find this supermarket too small, it often lets me down as it doesn't have something I need to buy. It's stopped stocking my favourite yogurt now. The atmosphere in store is not positive, the lights need to be brighter. I prefer to shop at New World, which has much more to offer by way of stock, brighter lights and a more positive atmosphere.

Love how cheap the goods are here! I seen veggies (fresh looking) and cereals (kids love nutrigrain) are cheap, everything is nice and tidy. They open at 7am for when you need things for kids school that you'd forgotten to get the day before, or for any reason. Always stocked. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There are a few things I seen that's cheaper elsewhere but majority are a good price. I will endeavour to shop here and compare my usual list to elsewhere I normally shop. Plus side onecard discounts.

I meant to post this when it happened, I went to get some of the on special potatoes. The basket was empty so I asked 'Tony' if there were any more out back. He had someone go check. There wasn't but he offered me a more expensive variety at same price as it wasn't my fault they ran out! Always friendly staff and love the cheaper organic macro range and the odd bunch!

Late nights 7days aweek ,lots of parking and lotto outlet, my usual goto supermarket. Has everything you need.

Decent supermarket, nothing bad nothing great. After about 6pm most of the breads gone along with a lot of the more popular daily items. The only entrance and exit to the car park is at quite a steep angle, may be a problem for low cars.

Plenty of parking spaces with added parking spaces for people with disability or special needs near the entrance. Fresh fruits and produce abounds and it's easy to find things you need by the way they are arranged in the isles, staffs are helpful and friendly.
