I had a tattoo done by Matt Ford, he is such an incredible artist. I initially went to him with a concept and his design was better than I had imagined it. He put so much time, thought and effort into each aspect of what I wanted to make it personal and reflect me. The Gallery space is awesome, clean and professional and it has a great atmosphere. I will definitely be back for the next one. Thanks Matt & the team!

I highly recommended The Gallery Tattoo. I’ve had two tattoos from them now, and both experiences were fantastic! The atmosphere is relaxed and private, and the art on display is engaging - it’s a good distraction from the pain! I’ve had two different artists for my tattoos. Both were great at working with me to develop something incredible from my ideas. Casey in particular was very patient with me. The final piece Casey put together is exactly what I wanted, and the tattoo is crisp and clear. They were also very gentle, and let me take a few breaks when needed. If you’re looking for a place to get your next tattoo, or your first, The Gallery is the place to go.

I had my first tattoo done by Matt Ford back in March, he is an amazing artist with great concepts he took a simple design and created an amazing piece of artwork. He is very friendly and asks all the random questions you have when it’s your first time, it healed so well. Definitely made my first experience one to remember!

I love to share my wonderful experience here, the tattoo was very beautiful😍 I loved the tatto I shared my random 2 different designs with Anais. She combined those tattoos and send the 2 different drafts on email I was so overwhelmed with her work. She is so professional and perfect in her work. I got the beautiful tattoo on my ankle. Myself and a friend recently got our tattoos here. I had a consult, then an appointment with Matt Ford. He took my very vague ideas and drafted up a whole heap of designs to pick from and was very patient with all of the tiny changes I had. Really recommended, especially for a first timer like me! He did a fine line tattoo with precision. Clean & hygienic space. All round good experience. Thanks!

Absolutely highly recommend these guys! Anais and Matt couldn’t of been more helpful and professional, they will guide you through the process with fantastic communication and work and great follow up. If you are nervous at all Matt will put you at ease and produce a great result.

I can't speak highly enough of Jesse Jamees at The Gallery Tattoo. This was my first tattoo and from the moment I made initial contact, to now with a fully healed tattoo, the whole experience has been great. When I first met Jesse in person and we talked through the design, everything just felt right - I knew I had made the right choice. Jesse managed to capture everything I wanted into an amazing design. Being my first tattoo, I was nervous about the the tattooing process itself, but Jesse gave me some tips and he also took great care. The end result was better than I imagined - you just have to take a look at some of his work to know that he is a master of his craft. The after care support was something I didn't expect either - he really goes out of his way to make sure that you are completely happy with your new tattoo. The experience far exceeded my expectations and I very much look forward to my next tattoo with Jesse.

Great Tattoo studio. I got a tattoo from Rosie, she listened to my ideas and came up with an amazing design. The studio kept up great contact with me as my appoitment was delayed due to lockdown. On the day Rosie was patient and professional. The tattoo I ended up with was perfect, I love it. Would definitely recommend this place.

Absolutely over the moon with the service provided but Gallery Custom Tattoo. They are friendly, knowledgeable, professional and provide a really welcoming environment. The information they provide to you before and after your appointment shows they really care about their clients and take pride in their work. The Gallery is not your typical tattoo studio! It is anything but intimidating for new comers to the world of tattoos. Both Mario and Ceara are the nicest people to interact with. Not to mention the talent of all their artists! Mario and Ceara, thank you both so much for everything and I can't wait to return for my next piece! See you all soon!

For one of my besties' birthdays, we decided to set up a 3-way tattoo date. The team at The Gallery made it SUCH a great experience. When communicating before our appointment they were professional, quick with responses, and gave us all the info we needed to make the day run smoothly. The premises are really inviting and lovely- spacious, clean, well set-up and full of gorgeous natural light. I was tattooed by Lillian and she was GREAT- professional, skilled, gentle and so rad to chat to. I'm stoked with my finished piece and can't wait to come back!! I also highly recommend buying your friends tattoos as gifts- it felt SO lovely to be tattooed at the same time as my best girls.

I got two tattoos over the past week by Rosie, who is a super talented artist. The place is nice, clean and calm and I was well looked after. Can't wait to come back.

I had my first tattoo with Abby at The Gallery. I adore it so much. She made it easy and stress free. And I loved the way we worked together on the design. She first beautifully interpreted a photo I had taken, and then made it come alive as a tattoo. I had a little panic at first, but she made me feel safe and confident. And it didn't even really hurt much. Thank you Abby, for being an amazing artist, and a beautiful person. You have been part of a really significant time in my life. And The Gallery space is really relaxing - lots of natural light, space, and really great service and people. There's nowhere else I could have gone.

It was serendipitous that my son and I managed to secure a appointment with Jake on our recent trip down to Wellington. We were after a lunar design - the phases of the moon for me on my forearm and the identical full moon as mine on the bicep for my son Sohl. Jake was amazing. He understood the sentiment and importance of design for me (as a mother) and was stunning with Sohl (his first ink). Building a relationship with a artist in a short period of time is so important when you are getting these life long pieces of Art. Jake was everything I wanted Sohl to experience in an artist, and he joined in on our excitement, which made the journey even more special. The Gallery Custom Tattoo is such a chill vibe full of wonderful, creative and kind artists and collaborators. We will be back.

The Gallery Tattoo was not only hospitable and professional but has incredibly high quality work - particularly Casey. This was my first tattoo and my artist Casey (Lillian Lakes) was a total rockstar. They made sure I had a clear understanding of what to expect, took thoughtful care with my design (though it was simple and small) and ensured I was comfortable and confident throughout the process. The owner Callum was highly knowledgable and helpful providing information around the process and what to expect. They were flexible when a scheduling conflict came up and were just all around awesome. Great people. Wonderful place. Look no further for beautiful tattoos.

Great service from first step in the door, Juse was our tattoo artist and was awesome, very warm welcoming and professional. He listened to what we wanted and put us at ease, as this was our first tattoo at age of 49. I would recommend going here and will be back.

My wife has won the gold medal, every year, since the age of 10 for being the fussiest woman on the planet. She chose Jesse out of every tattoo artist from two countries we have lived in, that’s a lot of tattooist. Jesse realism skill is without question, but it is his pre-work and accommodating nature that makes him really standout. He wants you to walk away happy, so he does the artistry upfront. This way he can interact with the client, before making it permanent. I can’t rate Jesse highly enough, both as a person and an artist, I am booking him in for a large back piece that I have wanted for years.

I highly recommend the Gallery Tattoo. Matt was so patient and particular. He was a perfectionist and was determined we would leave 100% happy with our tattoos - which we were! The premises were super nice too, really nice vibe. Highly recommend!

If you are even thinking about getting a tattoo and are in the Wellington area, you must come here! The space is so clean and beautiful, and most importantly: pictures don't do justice to the amazing work that Jord does. I am in love with the fine line, delicate tattoo he did for me. Very pleasant experience and will likely go back for another in the near future!

Just had the most amazing tattoo created by Abby. Friendly and welcoming studio and, as a bonus, located in a lovely character building. Would highly recommend and will definitely be planning a return visit.

I've had 4 sessions with Mario to date on my back piece, I have found him to be patient, polite, respectful and a very skilled tattoo artist. He took a lot time consulting with me regarding my back, which involved lots of back and forth emailing, as well as an initial consult free of charge. The studio itself is light, bright and warm with a very welcoming and safe atmosphere where I felt looked after and cared for by everyone I came in contact with. I really appreciated the little touches that added to my sessions, such as supplying me with plenty of drinking water, yummy sweet treats, delicious hot chocolate, and the all round friendly space. I look forward to further sessions and more great conversation too!

Oh my goodness. From the moment I walked in I felt I was in the best of hands. Jake made me feel so welcomed and we were talking away like old friends. The rooms is so beautifully filled with light plants big windows and white walls. Not your usual tattoo shop. Such a tremendous experience, can't recommend them highly enough.

Amazing experience from first contact, to after care. Mario and Caera take are absolutely professional and continue to improve processes. They send out 6 emails over the course of your appointment, each with useful information following up to, and after your appointment. The great team of artists are diverse in style and creativity. Jesse did 2 pieces for me, and was amazing in the consult, taking my ideas making them actual art. I was comfortable and happy throughout. The atmosphere of the studio adds to the experience! Had an absolutely great experience here! My friend and I were walk-ins which The Gallery was very gracious about, saw us right away. Our artist (I wish I remembered his name) was lovely, very helpful and quick to help us nail down exactly what we wanted. The tattoos came out great, incredibly tidy lines - we were both really happy with them and the service! Plus we got served hot chocolate while we waited 😊

Highly recommend Cam Oliver and The Gallery in general! I wanted a special tattoo in memory of my grandparents, who recently passed. After a friend got a fabulous tattoo from Mario, I saw Cam's artwork online and knew I had to book in with him. I brought a few drawings I'd found online, and he came up with a masterpiece. He also was able to still find time to fit me in when I had to make a last-minute appointment change, which I really appreciated since I wanted to have the tattoo for my trip home to show my family this special piece. The final tattoo is beyond anything I could have expected or hoped for, and the price was extremely reasonable. The Gallery is clean, professional and a comfortable place to get tatted. I've gotten so many comments on the incredible color and uniqueness of the bluebonnets on my ankle. I'll be visiting Cam again for my next tattoo. :)

Just had my 2nd tattoo this past Friday from the extremely talented Rosie, what a great process from start to finish. Super chill environment whilst very professional. Can not speak highly enough of Rosie and this place.

I loved every minute of my experience with the Gallery Custom Tattoo. All of the artists and Ceara, one of the owners were super friendly an professional. They made sure I was completely comfortable, knew as much as I could about what I was in for (both during and after my tattoo) and made sure I was completely happy with the design before we went ahead. I was provided with plenty of water and delicious bliss balls. My tattoo artist, Angie Dawn, was professional, kind, clear and patient - gorgeous girl. Angie has also tattooed some of my artwork on another client and did a fantastic job of it. Thank you for giving such a good experience of tattoo in Wellington. I will most definitely be back. Soon.

My overall experience at The Gallery Custom Tattoo was fantastic from the moment I walked in. Just had my first full day session at The Gallery custom Tattoo with Mario on the ink. The first of a few as I'm starting on a full sleeve. Simply amazing and skilled art, coupled with fascinating conversation and brilliant hospitality from Ceara and the team. Angie Dawn was my artist - a fantastic young woman who was able to take my (at best) loose concept into the reality of a tattoo that I am absolutely rapt with. Every one that has seen it has commented in glowing terms about the quality, the colour, the over all ascetic and the fantastic atention to detail. Angie is part of an awesome team at the Gallery. Everyone is incredibly welcoming and professional, the snacks are delicious and the hot chocolate up there with the best. I got my very first tattoo here from Cam a couple of weeks ago. I was pretty anxious beforehand, but Cam and all the team were so lovely and reassuring (never been offered so much tea in my life, and I'm British!). The tattooing experience itself was considerably less painful than I was expecting and the resulting tattoo is amazing and healed really well. I will definitely be back for another!

Jake was really friendly and helped James and I on our first colour tattoo experiences, fitting us in on our short holiday. The premises were immaculate, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and we were given refreshments and a snack. Better than I imagined.

Angie is the go-to person for my tattoo needs. Her mentor Mario is amazing as well! The entire crew is amazingly friendly and down to earth, making you feel right at home. Can't express how amazing they are from skills/experience to vibe of the place.

Mario and Ceara have a really great thing going at The Gallery. I feel like walking through an unknown door can be intimidating sometimes, but my experience with them was quite the opposite. Such a great couple to interact with, both socially and professionally. I don't think I need to mention the actual tattoo as the art speaks for itself... The Gallery Custom Tattoo studio is hands down the best studio I've set foot in and Mario is a genius. I spent years searching for an artist with his abilities. His skills with colour, style, detail, and original design are exceptional. He's also a fantastic guy with interesting opinions and enjoyable conversation about heaps of topics, which makes any session time with him fly. When I take him an idea, he brings it to life in ways that far surpass what I could have imagined on my own. I have a completed half-sleeve and a back piece in progress from him, and I couldn't be more thrilled. He takes tattoo art to a world-class level and is always seeking ways to improve and expand his talents. He takes pride in having extremely high standards. There's honestly nothing more I could ask for in someone I'm trusting with my skin. It's always a pleasure to visit. The hospitality in the studio is five-star, boasting home-made treats, hot beverages, and lots of friendly interaction. Everyone is conscientious, easy-going, and extremely talented. LOVED IT! I have had 3 previous tattoos done in different studios around Wellington and The Gallery Custom Tattoo was my BEST experience by far! I had Jakeinshadow as my artist who stayed several hours after closing time without once making me feel like an inconviniance or rushed. He was helpful with trying different placements and font designs on me. You can tell he genuinly cares about what he will put on your body and wants you to love your ink and feel good about yourself when you walk out. I found him to be extremely professional, educated and helpful. I received such top service from him it was the most relaxed and comfortable I'd ever felt whilst getting inked and now have 2 new tattoos that I love! Fantastic shop! Very friendly and helpful staff, always fun to be there. They always supply customers with yummy treats, hot drinks and water when "in the chair", and make sure you're ok and looked after. I am a huge fan and LOVE my tattoo from Cam, and looking forward to my tattoo from Mario in November. Just had my tattoo from Mario on 15th November - OMG love it. Got spoiled rotten! sweets, energy balls, coffees, hot chocolates. Ceara is awesome :)

I have completed day 1 of a 2 day session and I'm so happy. Jake listened to my needs and designed a coverup for me that far exceeded my expectations. Jake took my style preferences into consideration and designed me the perfect piece of art. I'm excited for day 2 in a few weeks time! The facilities are excellent and their aftercare and general communication are perfect.

I have 3 tattoos from Katy and I love them all. You can completely trust her to create a permanent work of art on your precious skin. Katy will listen carefully to what you'd like to achieve, and then work her creative magic. She has a very light touch and the fine details in her work are amazing! She also sells fabulous prints (for when you've run out of spaces to tattoo or would just like some art on your wall instead). The Gallery itself is a very special place - you'll be treated like a star the moment you walk in the door, and Ceara will keep you supplied with home-made treats and delicious drinks throughout your tattoo (I think you've converted me to coconut milk!). Mario, Ceara and Katy are a fantastic team - you owe it to yourself to visit.

This is my first time coming back to the gallery since it changed owners, and while the vibe is definitely different under new management it is still one of the loveliest, cleanest and most professional studios I've been to.

Ladies I highly recommend going here The Gallery is more like a Spa experience not even close to an old skool tattoo parlour. Its airy and light, with art, music and conversation to take your mind off the suffering LOL I didn't have that sense of "boys only club" like I was going where I wasn't wanted, which is how I felt with previous tattoos parlours. I've had 2 tattoo's done with Mario a half sleeve and a small part of my back. Ive booked in to get the rest of my back done with Mario and some lace done with Katy! Mario's art is AMAZEBALLS!! If you see his stuff, mine is the half sleeve with Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn and a Waxeye native nz bird :) And the best part Ceara makes the best snacks and drinks, to keep you hydrated and content. No running out to get a kebab or bringing your own snacks, they really look after you.

I always feel like a VIP coming in to see Ceara and the team. A little tray with mini snackerals and cold water to keep you going while you’re being inked, like some kind of ink princess. The space is clean and light and displays works from the artists on the walls (such beautiful work) I went in for some stabbies from Bethan this time and she was so professional and the work is to the high standard that the Gallery stands for. Super awesome fun stab times, I love my new inky Jigglypuff.

I felt very comfortable being in there as the staff are very friendly and looks after you. I got my tattoos done by Jord and he’s fantastic. He got it done less than an hour but the outcomes are beautiful and precise! I would definitely recommend this place if anyone wants to get their tattoo done and I would come back as well in the future if I ever decided to get another one :) Thank you for your kind service and hospitality! ♡

Great professional place. I got my first here and the experience went so much better than I expected. A full day with Cam who produced an incredibly detailed and amazing job. The professional but open and friendly environment made the day go well and additionally the place is well furnished such that a 7 hour tattoo was made as comfortable as possible.
