I had a tattoo done by Matt Ford, he is such an incredible artist. I initially went to him with a concept and his design was better than I had imagined it. He put so much time, thought and effort into each aspect of what I wanted to make it personal and reflect me. The Gallery space is awesome, clean and professional and it has a great atmosphere. I highly recommended The Gallery Tattoo. I’ve had two tattoos from them now, and both experiences were fantastic! The atmosphere is relaxed and private, and the art on display is engaging - it’s a good distraction from the pain! I’ve had two different artists for my tattoos. Both were great at working with me to develop something incredible from my ideas. Casey in particular was very patient with me. The final piece Casey put together is exactly what I wanted, and the tattoo is crisp and clear. They were also very gentle, and let me take a few breaks when needed. If you’re looking for a place to get your next tattoo, or your first, The Gallery is the place to go.

Myself and a friend recently got our tattoos here. I had a consult, then an appointment with Matt Ford. He took my very vague ideas and drafted up a whole heap of designs to pick from and was very patient with all of the tiny changes I had. Really recommended, especially for a first timer like me! I can't speak highly enough of Jesse Jamees at The Gallery Tattoo. This was my first tattoo and from the moment I made initial contact, to now with a fully healed tattoo, the whole experience has been great. When I first met Jesse in person and we talked through the design, everything just felt right - I knew I had made the right choice. Jesse managed to capture everything I wanted into an amazing design. Being my first tattoo, I was nervous about the the tattooing process itself, but Jesse gave me some tips and he also took great care. The end result was better than I imagined - you just have to take a look at some of his work to know that he is a master of his craft. The after care support was something I didn't expect either - he really goes out of his way to make sure that you are completely happy with your new tattoo. The experience far exceeded my expectations and I very much look forward to my next tattoo with Jesse.

The Gallery is not your typical tattoo studio! It is anything but intimidating for new comers to the world of tattoos. Both Mario and Ceara are the nicest people to interact with. For one of my besties' birthdays, we decided to set up a 3-way tattoo date. The team at The Gallery made it SUCH a great experience. When communicating before our appointment they were professional, quick with responses, and gave us all the info we needed to make the day run smoothly. The premises are really inviting and lovely- spacious, clean, well set-up and full of gorgeous natural light. I was tattooed by Lillian and she was GREAT- professional, skilled, gentle and so rad to chat to. I'm stoked with my finished piece and can't wait to come back!! I also highly recommend buying your friends tattoos as gifts- it felt SO lovely to be tattooed at the same time as my best girls.

It was serendipitous that my son and I managed to secure a appointment with Jake on our recent trip down to Wellington. We were after a lunar design - the phases of the moon for me on my forearm and the identical full moon as mine on the bicep for my son Sohl. Jake was amazing. He understood the sentiment and importance of design for me (as a mother) and was stunning with Sohl (his first ink). Building a relationship with a artist in a short period of time is so important when you are getting these life long pieces of Art. Jake was everything I wanted Sohl to experience in an artist, and he joined in on our excitement, which made the journey even more special. This was my first tattoo and my artist Casey (Lillian Lakes) was a total rockstar. They made sure I had a clear understanding of what to expect, took thoughtful care with my design (though it was simple and small) and ensured I was comfortable and confident throughout the process. The owner Callum was highly knowledgable and helpful providing information around the process and what to expect. My wife has won the gold medal, every year, since the age of 10 for being the fussiest woman on the planet. She chose Jesse out of every tattoo artist from two countries we have lived in, that’s a lot of tattooist. Jesse realism skill is without question, but it is his pre-work and accommodating nature that makes him really standout. He wants you to walk away happy, so he does the artistry upfront. This way he can interact with the client, before making it permanent. I can’t rate Jesse highly enough, both as a person and an artist, I am booking him in for a large back piece that I have wanted for years.

I've had 4 sessions with Mario to date on my back piece, I have found him to be patient, polite, respectful and a very skilled tattoo artist. He took a lot time consulting with me regarding my back, which involved lots of back and forth emailing, as well as an initial consult free of charge. The studio itself is light, bright and warm with a very welcoming and safe atmosphere where I felt looked after and cared for by everyone I came in contact with. I really appreciated the little touches that added to my sessions, such as supplying me with plenty of drinking water, yummy sweet treats, delicious hot chocolate, and the all round friendly space. Highly recommend Cam Oliver and The Gallery in general! I wanted a special tattoo in memory of my grandparents, who recently passed. After a friend got a fabulous tattoo from Mario, I saw Cam's artwork online and knew I had to book in with him. I brought a few drawings I'd found online, and he came up with a masterpiece. He also was able to still find time to fit me in when I had to make a last-minute appointment change, which I really appreciated since I wanted to have the tattoo for my trip home to show my family this special piece. The final tattoo is beyond anything I could have expected or hoped for, and the price was extremely reasonable. The Gallery is clean, professional and a comfortable place to get tatted. I've gotten so many comments on the incredible color and uniqueness of the bluebonnets on my ankle. I'll be visiting Cam again for my next tattoo. :)

His skills with colour, style, detail, and original design are exceptional. When I take him an idea, he brings it to life in ways that far surpass what I could have imagined on my own. I have a completed half-sleeve and a back piece in progress from him, and I couldn't be more thrilled. He takes tattoo art to a world-class level and is always seeking ways to improve and expand his talents. He takes pride in having extremely high standards. There's honestly nothing more I could ask for in someone I'm trusting with my skin. It's always a pleasure to visit. LOVED IT! I have had 3 previous tattoos done in different studios around Wellington and The Gallery Custom Tattoo was my BEST experience by far! I had Jakeinshadow as my artist who stayed several hours after closing time without once making me feel like an inconviniance or rushed. Katy will listen carefully to what you'd like to achieve, and then work her creative magic. She has a very light touch and the fine details in her work are amazing! She also sells fabulous prints (for when you've run out of spaces to tattoo or would just like some art on your wall instead). The Gallery itself is a very special place - you'll be treated like a star the moment you walk in the door, and Ceara will keep you supplied with home-made treats and delicious drinks throughout your tattoo (I think you've converted me to coconut milk!). Mario, Ceara and Katy are a fantastic team - you owe it to yourself to visit.

Yay finally found my tattoo artist!! Angie did such a stellar job on my tatt, have made a day booking to complete my arm. She fully interpreted my ideas into a beautiful piece with amazing line work and shading. The whole team was so welcoming, friendly and made me feel at absolute ease... Ladies I highly recommend going here The Gallery is more like a Spa experience not even close to an old skool tattoo parlour. Its airy and light, with art, music and conversation to take your mind off the suffering LOL I didn't have that sense of "boys only club" like I was going where I wasn't wanted, which is how I felt with previous tattoos parlours. I've had 2 tattoo's done with Mario a half sleeve and a small part of my back. Ive booked in to get the rest of my back done with Mario and some lace done with Katy! Mario's art is AMAZEBALLS!! If you see his stuff, mine is the half sleeve with Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn and a Waxeye native nz bird :) And the best part Ceara makes the best snacks and drinks, to keep you hydrated and content. No running out to get a kebab or bringing your own snacks, they really look after you.

I always feel like a VIP coming in to see Ceara and the team. A little tray with mini snackerals and cold water to keep you going while you’re being inked, like some kind of ink princess. The space is clean and light and displays works from the artists on the walls (such beautiful work) I went in for some stabbies from Bethan this time and she was so professional and the work is to the high standard that the Gallery stands for. Super awesome fun stab times, I love my new inky Jigglypuff.

I felt very comfortable being in there as the staff are very friendly and looks after you. I got my tattoos done by Jord and he’s fantastic. He got it done less than an hour but the outcomes are beautiful and precise! I would definitely recommend this place if anyone wants to get their tattoo done and I would come back as well in the future if I ever decided to get another one :) Thank you for your kind service and hospitality! ♡

Great professional place. I got my first here and the experience went so much better than I expected. A full day with Cam who produced an incredibly detailed and amazing job. The professional but open and friendly environment made the day go well and additionally the place is well furnished such that a 7 hour tattoo was made as comfortable as possible.
