A great little place. Went up to see the Time ball, which also had a great view of the harbor.

Helpful! Great place to see, Cool Sunday markets

The port is always a hive of activity, and is well worth looking at from the nearby hills. Trains and trucks come and go, and portal cranes move containers and timber constantly. Lots of smaller ships have this as a home port.Cruise ships have been diverted from Lyttelton Harbour whilst they continue to rebuild facilities. Plenty to see and do around the harbour making the visit worthwhile.

Lyttelton Markets- Fabulous way to spend a Saturday morning, just a short drive through the tunnel. It pays to get there early to grab a park- although it's a pleasure to walk from further away with such a gorgeous view. A variety of produce and other treats on offer, with a few other stalls selling gifts etc. The music is great in the centre of the street, and buskers often set up down near the totem poles. Grab a coffee and a pastry treat, or do your veg shop before chilling out in the Lyttelton Coffee Co- this place is very cool.
