R.We had such an awesome holiday here. Baz and Colleen were amazing hosts. Nothing was even an issue and they made us feel very welcome. The accomodation was nicely renovated and very clean. Our kids enjoyed playing at the beautiful beach all day long. Can’t wait to go back!
C.A beautifully bright and clean cabin straight across the road from a sheltered beach, perfect for wandering over for a swim at full tide. Watch out for speeding traffic which ignores the speed limit, and be aware there is very patchy cell and internet service.
M.We were so lucky to get the last cabin booked Christmas Eve for a couple of days stay on Christmas Reserved day 😉. Baz and Colleen are the best hosts I’ve ever come across. I’ve stayed in many places and these 2 made our family feel at home, they were so accommodating to our requests (not that we had many). They even recommended a few activities and food spots to try in the area which were great. Our kids loved the beach across the road, such a great place. Internet reception doesn’t connect, but head down to the beach and you’ll get a bit of reception down there which our big kids thoroughly enjoyed as life without the internet during our stay was difficult for them 😂. Our family would return based on Baz and Colleen’s service alone, but this time we are going for a bigger cabin lol. Thank you so much for everything. Our family feel so humbled by your aroha during our stay. You guys are amazing. Thanks Melanie.
A.Lovely tourist park in picturesque bay. The gulf view cabin is quiet and has amazing views of the bay and out to the islands. Tui, Bell bird and Kereru in the trees off the deck. A piece of Kiwi paradise and great value for money

K.Such a cool spot in a lovely bay and camp owners Baz and Cole are amazing! They’ll go above and beyond to make sure you have a great stay. I camped in a lovely sheltered powered site with heaps of space! The facilities were clean and everything you needed and the spot on the hill for sunset is well worth the little hike for the view!

L.Decided to go away spontaneously for the weekend and was so relieved to have picked here. The owners were so lovely and kind from the time we phoned right to when we left. Was even generous enough to let my three under 5 children stay free of charge, which was definitely appreciated!
We had a stunning view from our Studio Unit and the park had a lovely warm, serene atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and would not hesitate to return.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin, one room with super comfortable double bed and the other room had 2 single beds. The lounge had a couch that pulled out to sofa bed.
Nice bathroom and good kitchen with gas cooker, full size fridge and microwave. A little deck in front with a table and chairs to eat meals and watch the water and sunset or sunrise.
Just a hop skip and a jump to the beautiful clear water beach.
Just a short 3min drive to coromandel Centre
C.We boated over from Auckland and stayed a night in one of their cabins overlooking the water. Perfect simple accommodation, warm and dry with all the facilities one needs. The owner even gave one of our group a lift to get some more supplies when she had no obligation to do so. Thanks for the stay and the great hospitality.
G.Enjoyed the stay at the campgrounds. Staff was very friendly. They like to have a talk. Campgrounds is kept in a good condition. Campgrouds gate is across the street from the beach. Boat launching ramp is 100m from grounds. Nice, quiet area with a nice bench to watch sunsets. Very friendly people staying in the camp.
D.Proper hot showers and unlimited wifi were the main draws of this place. It's the cheapest that I found in the area with those amenities. At $15 per person that's still a crazy price for a place to park imo but that's NZ I guess. The kitchen is open air and a bit chilly in winter but there is hot water there too so it's not too bad. It's quite clean for an open air kitchen so that's great.
It has a nice view of the bay and seems mostly set up for boaters and permanent residents. Overall it's a decent place to stop in
I got some flak for not checking out by 10. I figured check out should be a loose concept since I'm just parked there overnight. I understand that there has to be some cutoff eventually and the guy was cool about it. But just consider that for your own stay

even it has been late the owner has been super welcoming and showed me everything and even offered me dinner :)
as a cute cabin who is normally used for backpackers has been free, i could stay in that one for the night without paying extra.

15 nzd well spent!!

J.We had a superb experience at Oamaru Bay Tourist Park, we were on a fishing mission and had boated across from Auckland, due to the weather being pretty rough and wet we decided last minute to stay at Oamaru Bay rather then on the boat. We called ahead, and arrived after dark, the stand-in camp manager was awesome, she turned the unit lights on for us so we could see as we came in, and even drove us into town the next morning for fresh bait, ice and some more back up fuel. The unit was perfect for our needs, we had three of us, but could have slept more easily. I would definitely recommend Oamaru Bay.

P.Lovely spot to stop on the way back to Auckland. Have a picnic on the beach. Check out the cute nearby island (turkey island) It is a lifestyle property with a house and sounded like it was for sale when we passed through.
J.Nice place as the camp site looks great and the beach is across the road and there is a boat ramp also where I launch my boat. to head out fishing a great fishing spot.
